My name is Michael Santos, better known in the pro wrestling world as Michael Diablo.
[It then cuts to Michael hitting his piledriver finishing move in a wrestling ring, before cutting to him holding a championship belt above his head, his voice heard over the footage.]
MICHAEL SANTOS
I have wrestled professionally off and on for most of my adult life, and I’ve done a pretty good job of it.
[It then cuts back to Santos in the interview room.]

But eventually everyone moves on to new things, and I have always felt an affinity with mixed martial arts.
[The camera cuts to Michael running punching drills in a gym with one of his trainers, the voiceover heard again.]

Before I ever became a wrestler, fighting on the streets was a large part of my teenage years. I didn’t have a particularly rough upbringing, but I wasn’t overly clever and I wasn’t a very good speaker, so if anyone decided to talk shit I defaulted to my two best features: My hard head and solid fists. If anything training for an MMA fight is easier for me to adapt to than a wrestling match. So I’m not worried about that.
[The camera cuts back to Michael delivering a series of different takedowns with voiceover.]
MICHAEL SANTOS
I’ve gathered the best trainers I could find to fine-tune my skills into something that can not only fight in the cage, but win. I didn’t commit to mixed martial arts on a whim, I did so because this is truly what I want to do.
[Cuts back to Michael in the room.]
MICHAEL SANTOS
How do I match up to my first opponent? Well I consider myself an allrounder, but Cal seems more comfortable on the ground, probably because it lets him lie down while still fighting. The plan is to keep him up, wear him out, win. Simple as that.

Today we are with Scrapyard MMA lightweight competitor “Bullrush” Gracyn Knight. Now Gracyn, you didn’t have a great start to your run in Union Grand Prix, getting eliminated from the lightweight tournament by Xabier Balazco. What did you learn from that fight, and how do you plan to implement it against your current opponent, Bellamy Desilva?
GRACYN KNIGHT
Well Savannah first thing I learned is not to roll on the ground with a guy who specialises in submissions. Pretty apt thing to pick up, right?
[Gracyn and Savannah chuckle.]
GRACYN KNIGHT
No for real though, I thought coming into my last fight that if I just did what I do best, it’ll trump what my opponent can do. Not the case. Since then I’ve been putting in some real work at the Scrapyard, working on not only my strengths, but on my weaknesses as well. I mean I did that before, but the difference between training essentially on your own to training with a fight family so to speak is night and day. And yes I will talk them up until the cows come home. I’ve been chomping at the bit to avenge my pitiful performance in my first fight, and I plan to do just that against Bellamy, giving him the same welcome to Union Grand Prix that I got. Tough love and all that.
SAVANNAH SKYE
So besides your general mindset and training, is there any specific tactics you’re employing against Bellamy?
[Gracyn smirks.]
GRACYN KNIGHT
Well I’m not gonna give you a full break down on it Savannah, you gotta pay to see it if you want the whole thing. But in a nutshell, keep him cornered, keep him on the backfoot, beat him down.
SAVANNAH SKYE
Simple but effective plan. I guess time will tell if you can implement it the way you want to. Anyway, that is all the time we have for now, thank you for sitting down with me Gracyn.

A feeling out process last for 10 seconds until Knight tries to grapple She puts DeSilva in a double underhook. Bellamy DeSilva pushes away Knight trying to keep the fight at striking range. Knight doesn't want to break the clinch as she still is grappling with Bellamy DeSilva.]
[20 seconds down now and the fighters are still clinching. Bellamy DeSilva tries to shrug his way out of the clinch but Knight is determined to work from the clinch. She pummeled through and managed to retain her position. Poorly executed technique from Bellamy and Gracyn Knight looks to counter! Gracyn Knight tries to stomp on DeSilva's feet while in the clinch. Those hits are more annoying than damaging to DeSilva.]
[The fighters are still clinching. DeSilva launches a few hard punches to Gracyn Knight's ribs! Knight struggles and protects herself. Knight tries to launch a knee to the body while in the clinch! DeSilva pushes away Gracyn Knight before being hit. DeSilva tries to get some advantage after Gracyn's miss move. Brilliant combination from Bellamy De Silva that forces Knight to try and defend better.]
[Both fighters circle around the center of the cage before Gracyn Knight and DeSilva engage in a wild exchange of punches! Both fighters are connecting and this could be ending soon if either lands a lucky punch. The two keep exchanging but Bellamy lands a one two jab hook combo that forces Gracyn Knight to try and bring the fight to the ground DeSilva won't budge, forcing Knight to pull guard.]
[Bellamy DeSilva is in closed guard over Knight. DeSilva is moving on the ground...Ouch! That was a headbutt! Did he do that intentionally? Willie Green didn't see the foul! Bellamy DeSilva is in closed guard over Knight. Knight tries to roll but Bellamy DeSilva uses his leg to keep his position on the ground. DeSilva tries to get some advantage after Gracyn's miss move. DeSilva tries to improve his position on the ground as he sits on his knees and tries to break the closed guard. Bellamy DeSilva fakes a few punches and then slips one leg to get the half mount.]
[The clock says 1:55 in the first round has went by. Bellamy DeSilva is in half guard over Knight. Bellamy DeSilva tries to pass Gracyn Knight's guard. Bellamy DeSilva manages to get his leg free and moves to side mount. Knight tries to move on the ground and shows Bellamy DeSilva a crack in her guard which he uses for a big elbow!Bang! Knight's forehead receives a strong elbow that rocks her head against the mat! Willie Green knows he may be calling off the fight soon!]
[Knight measures the resilience of DeSilva's ribs with a couple of big punches from guard. DeSilva blocks the hits as he works on the ground. DeSilva tries to move to full mount! Nice move. He is in full mount now. DeSilva positions himself for a round of ground and pound and tries to finish the fight with some precise elbows! One, two, three! Knight's being punished here! Knight tries to stand up! DeSilva doesn't allow her to.]
[Knight tries to get back to her feet once more but DeSilva doesn't allow her. Gracyn Knight doesn't want to continue the fight in this position and tries to get back on her feet. She can't do it because of DeSilva's moves but Willie Green steps in and stands the fighters up due to a lack of activity. Both fighters have climbed to their feet and they continue the fight standing.]
[Knight leads with a punch but Bellamy DeSilva avoids it and lands flush with a counter uppercut before Bellamy DeSilva and Knight engage in a wild exchange of punches! Bellamy DeSilva is getting the best of the exchange as he lands a few blows. Bellamy DeSilva shoots for a double leg takedown! He hits it! Gracyn Knight is taken off her feet, but she manages to pull DeSilva into her guard.]
[Bellamy DeSilva is in closed guard over Knight. DeSilva tries to escape from the closed guard DeSilva succeeds and he's now in open guard... he takes a second to breathe. Bellamy DeSilva pushes Gracyn Knight against the fence and then tries to improve his position. DeSilva jumps and tries to free his leg! Knight doesn't allow this but Bellamy DeSilva is able to get half guard here.]
[Bellamy DeSilva is in half guard over Knight. Gracyn Knight attempts to move to full guard. Bellamy DeSilva keeps good control and remains in half guard. Knight launches a few weak punches. DeSilva blocks them effectively. Gracyn Knight gets sloppy and Bellamy DeSilva tries to take advantage...Bellamy DeSilva aggressively and repeatedly punches Knight. She needs to do something soon or the referee will stop the fight! Knight's Right eye is bruised after the punishment she's received!]
[Gracyn Knight launches a few punches to DeSilva's cheek from the guard. Bellamy DeSilva uses his head to cover the punches and presses his skull forward. Bellamy DeSilva tries to free his leg...Bellamy DeSilva uses some of his skill by jumping out of Knight's guard. He moves quickly to try and full mount! Bellamy DeSilva is in side mount over Gracyn Knight. Bellamy DeSilva looks to mount Gracyn Knight. Bellamy DeSilva slides his knee across and gets to mount. Bad position for Gracyn.]
[Bellamy DeSilva is in full mount over Gracyn Knight. Gracyn Knight tries to roll to her side and get to half guard...Bellamy DeSilva rolls Gracyn Knight to her stomach and takes her back! Willie Green tells the fighters to go to their corners as the round is over.]

[Gracyn Knight comes out and attempts a sweep single right out of the bat. Bellamy DeSilva was ready and shrugs off the takedown attempt. Knight steps backwards and lowers her arms while breathing heavily. Knight grabs DeSilva by the waist and tries to take the fight to the ground. DeSilva struggles, but Gracyn Knight is unable to take him down though. Knight clumsily fails here and it's time for Bellamy DeSilva to fight back! Bellamy DeSilva tries a nice one-two combination, He scores!]
[25 seconds down in the 2 round and Several good body shots land on Knight. Gracyn Knight shoots for a double leg takedown! Bellamy DeSilva sprawls and manages to stay on his feet. Knight steps forward and Bellamy DeSilva catches her with an uppercut to the face! The two exchange wildly. DeSilva is connecting with a few punches. Bone shattering straight left hand from Bellamy DeSilva! Knight is going to have a big headache after that blow!]
[DeSilva looks for angles as he throws a few jabs that are countered by Gracyn Knight's punches before Knight is on the receiving end of a great combo by DeSilva. Gracyn Knight and DeSilva engage in a wild exchange of punches! Bellamy DeSilva is getting the best of the exchange as he lands a few blows.]
[The clock says 1:35 in the 2 round. The two exchange wildly again and again DeSilva is connecting with a few punches. DeSilva grabs Gracyn by the waist and tries to take the fight to the ground. Great takedown! DeSilva is in open guard, he tries to pass to half guard… Gracyn Knight can't prevent Bellamy from passing. DeSilva looks to work from half guard.]

[Gracyn Knight attempts to trap Bellamy DeSilva in her guard. Bellamy DeSilva keeps control and remains in side mount. Deep breaths from Gracyn Knight who tries a hammer punch to DeSilva's ribs. DeSilva blocks those punches. DeSilva is trying to counter now! Bellamy DeSilva fakes some punches then lands a big punch to Knight's face!]
[Bellamy DeSilva looks to pass to mount… DeSilva slides his knee across and achieves the mount position! Tough spot for Gracyn Knight. DeSilva tries to keep his position while looking to maybe begin a pounding session… Bellamy DeSilva controls the situation despite Gracyn Knight efforts for escaping from the full mount. Knight is using some of her ground skills to escape from this...Bellamy DeSilva pushes Gracyn Knight down and prevents her attempts to escape.]
[DeSilva tries to keep his position while looking for some more ground and pound… Knight moves trying to get back to her feet and DeSilva latches on and attempts a armbar instead that forces Gracyn Knight to tap!]

ROUND ONE

[As the first round kicks off, Dallas goes for a low kick and than faster than a blinking eye he follows it up with a high kick. Harris manages to deflect both and searches for a hole in her opponents defense but Dallas, ultra aggressive as always, ties Saffron up in the clinch. Harris tries to shrug out of it but Dallas instead shoots and grabs Harris’s leg but Saffron manages to sprawl and remain on her feet. The fight stalls briefly and the referee stands both fighters up. Harris looks to tie Meechan up in the clinch but he avoids and then looks to do the same to her, locking in double underhooks. Instantly he begins punishing Saffron’s ribs with brutal knees. Harris, however, keeps her cool and pushes Dallas off, firing a flurry of hooks and body shots that cause Meechan to stumble backwards but she gives chase and the rain of blows continues.]
[Smartly, Dallas ties Saffron back up in the clinch and looks for a takedown. He quickly blocks her knee and hits a perfect knee tap. In closed guard, Dallas looks to improve his position and after a few moments of work passes to half guard. The two jostle for position briefly before Dallas takes a moment to cool the fight down before slipping his leg free and moving to side mount. He doesn’t spend long there, however, as he slides his leg over and easily gets to full mount without Saffron putting up much of a fight. Right away Dallas looks to isolate her right arm for a kimura but she manages to hold on and breaks her arm free of his grasp. In response he throws a few punches that are weak, and his corner can be heard screaming for him to posture up before trying to pepper her with his strikes.]
[Saffron shifts her weight and tries to slip free from Meechan’s mount but Dallas quickly uses her momentum to roll into an armbar but again Harris is able to escape the submission, only to find herself back on the wrong end of full mount. As he postures up, Harris hammers into his ribs forcing him to defend. She then tries to roll to her side to get to half guard but Dallas rolls her fully over and takes her back. He works to get a hook in and succeeds. The crowd begins to buzz, knowing if he can get a second hook in that things could get very bad for her. She tries to escape but Meechan’s ground game is too strong and he manages to get the second hook in. The fans in attendance hit a fever pitch as they sense the end coming. And then BAM! Dallas is rocked by a headbutt and the fans boo, thinking it may have been intentional. Referee Jordan Ripley saw it and stands both fighters up, giving Dallas a moment to collect himself as Ripley goes to tell the judges that he’s taken a point away from Saffron Harris this round.]
[After a few moment pause, the referee checks with Dallas to make sure he’s good to go. After a nod from the scottish fighter, the two meet at the center of the cage. Meechan throws a punch that causes Harris to step back and dodge. Relentless, Dallas fires a furious low kick and Harris absorbs the entirety of its force, her right leg turning beat red from the impact. Meechan then steps forward and fires a vicious high kick that lands beautifully. Somehow Saffron is still standing, though she looks wobbled. Meechan throws a looping right hands and it connects flush on Saffron’s chin, stopping her in her tracks. Her knees look ready to give way and on instinct she fakes a punch and unsteadily moves to the side just as the bell sounds bringing a highly entertaining first round to its close.]

ROUND TWO

[The second starts a bit more slowly than the first did with the two fighters sizing each other up and throwing tentative, testing punches but neither really getting much offense in the early stages of the second round. Harris tries to clinch but Meechan smartly avoids that and then responds with a vicious middle kick that lands hard on her ribs. Another middle kick lands solidly and Meechan swarms, shoving Harris into the cage where he quickly clinches with her. Saffron quickly shows she’s at an advantage in the clinch though and detecting that, Meechan smartly circles out and slips free. Harris goes on the offensive, managing to grapple and tie Dallas back up but Meechan responds by making her pay with vicious knees to her ribs. Improving his own position, Dallas looks to change levels with a take down and quickly trips Saffron to the mat.]
[With ease, Dallas once again improves his position rapidly moving from closed guard to open, to half to side mount in a seeming blink of an eye. From side mount he goes for an Americana but Saffron breaks free. As soon as she’s free, though, Dallas isolates an arm and looks to lock in a triangle. It’s unsuccessful, though, as she’s able to relieve the pressure on her neck and slip free of the hold. Still, Meechan’s aggressiveness continues as he shifts to north south and looks to finish the fight with an unorthodox lock but again it goes nowhere, this time with Saffron managing to reverse positions. Quickly, Dallas moves on the ground to bring her back into his guard and close it down around her. Looking to swing momentum in her favor, Harris unloads with some precise elbows that Meechan does his best to block. She lands a few more strikes cleanly but Dallas locks his guard down and the fight stalls, leaving Jordan Ripley to stand both back up.]
[As they stand, Dallas face shows that those elbows Harris had thrown moments earlier had done more damage than originally thought, and his corner yells for him to be careful. If that registered in his head it wasn’t obvious as he quickly looked for a sweep single and managed to catch Saffrons far ankle, tripping her to the mat. On the ground, however, Saffron overhooks an arm and starts cranking. Briefly, concern washes over Meechan’s face but he manages to break free of her grip. From there nothing of substance happens and the second round comes to its conclusion.]

ROUND THREE

[When the third round begins, fatigue is evident on the face of Saffron Harris. Meechan presses the ation right off the bat and flies toward her, trying to get his opponents head in some kind of lock. The two stumble and Harris drops to a knee but she struggles and shoves Meechan off of her and the two breathe hard as they both scramble back to their feet. Dallas, once standing, fires off low kicks that punish Saffron’s legs repeatedly. When she moves to defend, Dallas ties her up with double underhooks. One, two, three! Meechan doesn't stop launching those knees in the clinch! Devastating knee that lands on Harris's chin! That pop was heard throughout the arena! The crowd erupts! Another series of knees that don’t stop landing and another one connects with her chin that, as she looks up, shows a small cut. Determined to work from the clinch, Dallas pummels through to maintain his position when Saffron tries to get free. A third volley of knees is uncorked in her direction and when Saffron doesn’t defend and another lands square on her chin, Jordan Ripley jumps in and brings the fight to its conclusion.]

It was definitely a learning experience. I have to be a bit more rounded in my approach, but it was great to be able to fight on such a big stage. I'm excited for the chance to get back in there.

How are things with your gym, Slaughterhouse Houston, after so many fighters left for other places? Was there ever consideration to look elsewhere?
RANDY WADE
It's definitely quieter around the gym.
[Wade offers small laugh and shrug.]
RANDY WADE
They have to do what's best for them, I guess. I have opportunities I never expected to have in my life, and it's because of the people in Houston. I owe them my loyalty. I have no desire to train elsewhere.
DYLAN CARTER
Loyalty is a big thing to have, especially around busyness that can be very cutthroat.
RANDY WADE
It's not my place to judge them just because I personally don't agree.
[Dylan nods.]
DYLAN CARTER
You've kept quiet since your loss to Asher June. What have you been doing in the time since?
RANDY WADE
Just healing up and training, trying to get better. Keeping things out on the ranch going the way they should. I know I got to get on that Twitter more often. I just forget about it a lot of the time.
[Dylan offers her own shrug.]
DYLAN CARTER
To be honest, so do I. Well now that your back and ready to fight, do you know who's next for you?
RANDY WADE
The middleweight division is full of talent. Most of which I would consider it a privilege to share a cage with. At the moment I don't know who I will fight next, but who l know who I'd like fight.
DYLAN CARTER
Oh? Do tell!
RANDY WADE
With the things that come out of his mouth, it shouldn't be a surprise that I want to punch Agustin Gates right in the nose and knock his ass out.
