[The opening montage comes to a close and the feed transitions inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Thousands of fans pack the building, where many have immersed themselves into the pandemonium and roar out with deafening cheers. With the uncertainty of victory or defeat looming, the aura is both intoxicating and tense.]

[The main stage, where the fighters scheduled tonight dawn their presence, is littered with carnage and destruction. A heavy fog sits stale, scaffolding strung in multiple directions, and the overall structure glowing red with fire, ash, and embers; something no fighter will soon forget.]

[The toll on both fan and fighter is enormous. The stage of a bloody war is set. The conquerors envision nothing but execution towards success, while the meek is flooded with doubt. Down in the trenches, we see the pair of broadcaster calling the shots tonight— Bodie Sullivan and Warhead Williams — standing cageside in attention to officially kick off the night.]

BF21_Commentators.png

BODIE SULLIVAN

Ladies and gentlemen, we are live exclusively on the Battleground Network here in Boston, Massachusetts at the TD Garden, and welcome to Boss Fight Twenty-one! My name is Bodie Sullivan and standing next to me is the one and only Warhead Williams! Tonight we have some compelling matchups in-store with the main event tonight being a highly touted Catchweight bout between two number one ranked fighters in their respective divisions. But before we dive into that matchup, we have a bevy of top contenders looking to continue their climb up the rankings, specifically in the big boy divisions.

WARHEAD WILLIAMS

That’s right, Bodie. To kick off the night, we have a Cruiserweight Bout between Suhaim Chraibi and newcomer Devlin Connolly. While Connolly is making his pro debut tonight, Chraibi is still looking for his first win after coming up short with a decision loss to Rubio Ochoa III in his debut. We don’t really know what to expect from Devlin Connolly, but he’s been training with ScrapYard MMA, so you have to expect that he’s ready for the big stage.

BODIE SULLIVAN

In a division as thin as the 225 pound class is right now, if a fighter can string a couple of wins together in succession, there’s a good chance he enters the title shot discussion. Up next, we go to the Heavyweight behemoths as Billy Tweeds takes on Zach Bennett.

WARHEAD WILLIAMS

This will be Tweeds’ third professional fight, and I like what I’ve seen out of him so far. The guy burst on the scene in his pro debut, winning in stunning fashion with a spinning back fist knockout in under a minute and a half, but then got caught and stumbled in his second fight. On the other side, Zach Bennett is coming into tonight with some momentum after beating Zander Altman in his last bout, and is looking to continue the trend. After getting thrown to the wolves in his debut against former Heavyweight Champ Ferdinand Diao, Bennett has continued to show some improvement. This is a pivotal bout for both of these guys and I’m excited to see who comes out on top.

BODIE SULLIVAN

No question about it, if Tweeds gets the win, he improves to 2-1, where if Bennett gets the nod he’ll improve to 2-2, where either one will be “that much” closer to the top. From there, we stay the course with another Heavyweight matchup between arguably the two biggest competitors in Union Grand Prix. LA Brooks, who stands 6’6”, and Owen Barnes, who stands 6’8”, both tipping the scales at the 265 pound limit and right now both come in with a 3-1 record.

WARHEAD WILLIAMS

It’s a huge fight, both literally and figuratively, with major implications in my opinion for this division. Both of these guys are on the verge of a title fight, and a win here tonight for either one will no doubt catapult them into that conversation, you can just sense it. The way both of these fighters have climbed the rankings, this just has that feel that the winner could very well be seeing Pluggz The Great next.

BODIE SULLIVAN

It’s a division that has grown very well with some solid depth in competition and excitement and this fight will definitely change the landscape at the top of the rankings. And now, we head into our Co-Main Event, a Bantamweight bout between Griffin Dawson and Dang Tay. There’s never a whole lot of publicity coming out from either of these fighters during the build up to their fights, but they certainly entertain inside the octagon. With the way the 135 pound class has unfolded as of late, again this feels like a matchup where the winner could very well put themselves into title contention.

WARHEAD WILLIAMS

It definitely could, but like you mentioned, Bodie, neither of these fighters really create a lot of headlines outside of the octagon, and in this day and age, that can hinder your momentum and progress. I think everyone wants to see Lena Lyons back in the title scene, even though she has made it publicly known that she has yet to hear any new contract talks. How that goes could be a factor in where and who the winner of this fight faces next. There’s a lot of moving parts in that division, so it’s a crapshoot gamble where the only way to better your odds is to keep winning and keep creating those headlines.

BODIE SULLIVAN

And speaking of headlines, let’s finally move on to our main event headliner tonight, an incredible catchweight bout between number one ranked fighters in their respective divisions, Natalie King and Zari Aliyah! I am absolutely hyped up for this fight here, Willy. Nat and Zari have been sitting in this weird purgatory spot for some time as the number one ranked contender in their divisions, yet haven’t been given another crack at the title because they’re both 0-2 against the current champs. There’s been some talk and speculation that whoever walks out of this one victorious may finally clear that hurdle and earn another shot. What do you think, Willy?

WARHEAD WILLIAMS

I think it’s a feasible possibility that could happen, but there are never any guarantees in this sport. Both King and Aliyah have been instrumental in their divisions, but like you mentioned, they have both gone 0-2 against the reigning champs and that's a hard sell to the matchmakers. It’s a tough spot to be in, because you get the sense that they are the clear cut top contenders, but have already had their chances and at that point you look at other contenders. But when they continually beat anyone else you put in front of them, then you just have to reconsider. I think it’s best to leave those decisions up to the matchmakers and at the end of the day, just sit back and enjoy this super fight.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Great idea, Willy. So let’s do just that and turn things over to the octagon. It’s bout time for Boss Fight Twenty-one!

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell announces the first round! Both fighters start going against each other, and Devlin Connolly throws a looping left hand that lands on Chraibi's chin! That has stopped Suhaim Chraibi in his tracks, and there is a small laceration in his right eye! Only 20 seconds in and Connolly is already swinging for the fences! Chraibi backpedals and creates space. Devlin Connolly is asking him if he is going to fight! He misses a move and Chraibi tries to get some advantage. Devlin Connolly goes for a combo, and Chraibi punches back, but nobody connects! Devlin Connolly swings again and hits with a hard impact to Chraibi's face!]

[A punch from Devlin Connolly gets blocked by Chraibi. Connolly clumsily fails here and it's time for Suhaim Chraibi to fight back! A wicked punch by Suhaim Chraibi rocks Connolly! But Connolly answers with a bone-shattering straight right hand! Chraibi is going to have a big headache after that blow, and now there is another small cut in his left cheek!]

[Connolly now goes to the body and punishes Chraibi's ribs with a couple of hooks! Suhaim Chraibi throws a combination, but Devlin Connolly ducks under and catches him with a counter straight! Chraibi swings again, only to get countered once more! Suhaim Chraibi is looking bad here! There is now another laceration in his right cheek, he’s hurt! He stumbles backwards and he's an easy target for Devlin Connolly! Connolly shows excellent timing and blasts Suhaim Chraibi with a right hand! Great hook by Connolly, and Suhaim Chraibi is caught off balance and slips to the ground! Jordan Ripley is asking Chraibi to defend himself, but he’s now unresponsive, so Ripley jumps in between the fighters and stops the punishment for Chraibi, whose right eye is bruised after the punishment he's received!]

[The fight gets underway! Bennett looks to be in very good shape as he takes the initiative. He fires an unorthodox punch to Tweeds's torso that goes wide. Now Bennett launches a hook to the body, and Billy Tweeds moves aside looking for a counter… Bennett clumsily fails here and it's time for Billy Tweeds to fight back! Tweeds throws a looping left hand that lands on Bennett's chin, and Bennett’s momentum is halted, plus now he has a cut on his right eye!]

[Zach Bennett tries to come back a looping right hand, while Billy Tweeds jumps back and jabs. Bennett’s hit has landed, but Tweeds seems unaffected, countering with a few punches of his own. Bennett's right eye is beginning to swell now. Bennett grabs his opponent by the waist and tries to take the fight to the ground! Tweeds struggles, and Bennett is unable to get the takedown!]

[A punch from Zach Bennett gets blocked by Tweeds and goes for the counter again! This time a right hook that connects with Bennett’s chin again! Bennett tries again for some good body shots, but they are evaded by Tweeds! Bennett shoots for a takedown again, he’s holding Billy Tweeds's right leg… but Billy Tweeds shows great balance while pushing Zach away! Tweeds tries to get some advantage after his opponent’s missed move. He throws a one-two combo then fakes a move to fire a big right hand on the chin, and the strikes hit home! Tweeds follows up with a furious low kick, and Bennett receives a hard blow on his left leg! Bennett is rocked and Tweeds keeps the offense up! He throws a one-two combo then fakes a move to fire a big right hand on Bennett’s chin! Zach Bennett is hurt! His chin is swelling and there is a clear cut now! He’s staggered, stumbling backwards, and Billy Tweeds fires a roundhouse punch that lands flush on Bennett’s chin! Bennett looks like he was hit by a bus! The frightening power of Billy Tweeds has left Bennett sleeping peacefully on the canvas!]

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The opening round begins and Brooks and Barnes touch gloves before Brooks swings a huge right hook to get things going. Barnes is able to move out of the way, though, and counters with a brilliant three-punch combination that forces Brooks to get his guard back up quickly. The two waste no time in starting to trade punches, as Brooks responds to the combo with a series of body shots, but Barnes is able to keep his arms in tight and block most of the impact. As Brooks starts to wind up a big punch again, Barnes capitalizes and blasts him with a huge straight right, then a massive left hook that knocks Brooks to the ground!]

[It was more of a stumble than a full-on knockdown, though, and Brooks is back on his feet before Barnes can follow up--but he doesn’t respond quick enough to a huge right hook that digs into his ribs. Barnes follows up with a big right hook, perhaps looking to put Brooks back down again, but Brooks avoids it and fends him off with a couple quick straights that keep him at bay for the moment.]

[Brooks steps forward and swings a big looping overhand right, which Barnes jumps back and avoids before countering with a couple quick jabs, one of which opens a small cut on Brooks’ forehead. Barnes doesn’t stop with the straight punches, though, and starts throwing HUGE hooks and uppercuts that rock Brooks, then an absolutely massive haymaker that snaps Brooks’ head backwards and sends him crumpling to the mat. Herschel Warden almost jumps out of his skin at the sight and gets in between the fighters to prevent any more damage coming to Brooks.]

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[Griffin Dawson and Dang Tay both come out of their corners, and touch gloves in the center to get the fight started with a showing of respect. Dang Tay closes the distance immediately and looks to secure a text book double collar thai clinch early! Dawson tries to fight out of the hold, but Tay uses this momentum to leap forward with a jumping knee strike that lands flush on the solar plexus of his opponent. The impact of the blow sends Griff to the mat hard, and Tay rushes forward to capitalize on the knockdown. Dawson shows her toughness though, and she pops right back to her feet as the crowd comes alive.]

[Tay shoots forward immediately and tries to secure a takedown, but Dawson doesn’t budge. Instead, the grappling comes to a stalemate, and this forces Dang Tay to resort to pulling guard. The pair of fighters hitting the mat echoes out with an audible thud, but within seconds Griffin Dawson finds herself swept and in a bad position, as Dang Tay secures Full Mount!]

[Tay tries to open up on Dawson with a few sweeping strikes with his right elbow... But Griff manages to block them with her arms, while successfully using this moment to scramble and wind up in half guard. Dawson keeps working however, and soon she is able to move Dang Tay back into her closed guard. Tay postures up without warning however, and he launches a barrage of vicious punches that target the already injured body of Griffin Dawson.]

[Griff sucks in a few deep breaths, and she tries to answer back with a hammer fist to Tay's ribs in retaliation. Tay doesn’t like this and decides to move immediately.  He’s  able to jump over into the side mount position, but it is only momentary, as Dawson shows some improved ground skills and transitions Tay back into half guard. This seems to frustrate Tay, and he tries to open up Dawson with a few more looping strikes from his right elbow. Dawson blocks the majority of the shots however,  and this forces Dang to look for another option here.]

[Tay quickly tries to scramble to the side mount, but Dawson wraps her legs around Dang Tay’s leg and prevents him from moving. Tay scrambles a bit here but he seems to slip up and this allows Griffin Dawson to seize an opportunity to counter him!  Griff gets an arm clenched tightly, and she throws her legs up to try for an armbar out of nowhere. Tay spins out, but Griffin has it scouted and she quickly switches to a triangle choke! The choke looks tight, but Dang Tay shows his impressive Jiu JItsu skills and manages to pop his head free and stand up.  He backs up and motions Dawson back to the feet and  Dusty Whittaker halts the fight to stand Dawson up and the fight resumes with both fighters standing.]

[The fans inside of the TD Garden are cheering loudly for the fighters here as they circle each other and look for a point of attack. A quick hook by Dang Tay glances off Dawson's arms, who then steps back a bit to take a deep breath. Tay isn’t having any of that though, and he steps forward with a good lead switch kick to the body of Griff Dawson. Dawson stumbles backwards a bit after that shot, and it’s clear that she is in pain from the liver kick! Tay closes the distance carefully, looking for a measured shot to put the fight away.]

[Griffin Dawson keeps him at bay with a looping right hand, and Dang Tay jumps back with a jab, but he isn’t able to avoid the full brunt of the punch, and he’s clipped on the chin. Dang Tay seems unaffected by the shot. In fact, he opens up and counters with a few punches of his own. This leads to a great exchange here, with neither fighter getting the upper hand and both landing some clean shots.]

[We enter the final ten seconds, and Griffin Dawson fakes a punch, before launching herself at Dang Tay with a leaping roundhouse attempt.. Tay makes her miss as he backpedals quickly, and He’s about to land a nasty counter punch down the pipe... when the referee separates the fighters and the buzzer sounds.]

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[We start the second round and Tay comes out quickly, trying to take control of the round early with a Thai Plum clinch. Griffin Dawson tries her best to push Tay away and keep the fight at striking range but “Red Death” doesn't want to break the clinch and he hangs on tight to deliver yet another leaping knee strike to the body of Dawson. It’s clear that the knee hurts pretty bad, and Griff works quickly to pummel into a Thai clinch of her own. She tries to mimic the knee strike, but Tay sees it coming from a mile away and he moves away from danger while blocking the strike.]

[Griffin Dawson charges forward and tries to bring the fight to the ground but Tay won't budge, forcing Dawson to pull guard this time.  Dang Tay lands in closed guard over Dawson. Griff tries to roll on the ground but Dang Tay uses his weight to pin her and unleash some hard shots aimed at her ribs. Griff manages to block a majority of them and she moves to try and reverse the situation. She doesn;t seem to go anywhere and after a while it seems like she is cooling the fight on the ground. The referee decided to stand the fighters up, since there was a lack of action on the ground. Both fighters climb to their feet to a standing ovation from the crowd.]

[Dawson’s cornermen are yelling for her man to keep distance from Tay and not let him get his hands on her, but the two step into the center of the cage and give the fans a show by exchanging wildly. Both land at will, but without much steam behind the shots, that is until Dawson launches a furious low kick! Tay manages to check the kick and the sound echoes out through the arena. This gets another roar from the fans, and triggers Dawson to unleash a brilliant combination that lands HARD on the block of Dang Tay. He answers by stepping back and unloading another nasty body kick that lands just below the ribs of Dawson.]

[Dawson tries to fire a kick right back but Tay catches her right leg and he tries to go for a single leg trip takedown. Griffin shows great balance though, and she pushes Tay away to circle out and get some distance. Dawson steps back in quickly and she launches a couple of jabs, but they are instantly answered by Tay who makes her pay with a solid right cross! This triggers a whirlwind of an exchange from both fighters! Dawson's left eye is visibly bruised after the exchange, and she steps back to gingerly touch it.]

[This prompts Dang Tay to fake a punch to close the distance, and he pushes his opponent back against the cage as he obtains a troublesome thai clinch again in this fight. Tay begins launching some brutal dirty boxing hooks to the injured body of Dawson. Griff  tries to shrug her way out of the clinch but Tay pummels through and manages to retain his position.He tries to launch another great knee when he finds a narrow space, but Dawson uses this movement to break the clinch and the knee goes wide!]

[Tay doesn’t let Dawson escape, however. Instead, he chases after her and is able to land an ankle pick that takes the fight back to the ground with him in open guard over Dawson Tay tries to improve position but Dawson adjusts and closes her guard. Without warning, Griff rolls and grabs a leg, going for a slick kneebar! Tay blocks the attempt after a bit of struggle, and he uses the opportunity to seize half guard. Tay postures up to launch a few punches and Dawson sees this as an opportunity to scramble! There’s a battle here on the ground as the two jockey for dominant position but ultimately it’s Dawson who ends up on the losing end, clumsily giving up her back with 10 seconds left!]

[Tay tries to make something happen here with a few hard strikes from the back mount and Griff does her best to block them with her arms while taking this opportunity to rest. Tay continues working while Dawson stalls here and he’s able to get one hook in! Dawson struggles, trying to break Tay's control but the buzzer sounds, marking the end of the round.]

=========================================

ROUND THREE

=========================================

[We start round three and Dang Tay feints a punch and shows some excellent footwork moving inside to close the distance. Dawson launches a leg kick to counter him and Tay manages to check it, but when he plants his leg back onto the canvas it looks as though he has some trouble putting weight on it for a moment. Griff spots this like a veteran and pushes forward quickly to fire off a sequence of pointpoint, violent punches! This prompts Dang Tay to answer with his own barrage and both fighters engage in a wild exchange of punches as the crowd goes wild! Both fighters are connecting flush, and the crowd are on their feet as this war could be over with a single lucky shot.]

[Tay stumbles back from the exchange, his right cheek bruised and starting to swell visibly, while Dawson keeps pressing forward! Tay tries to fire off an inside leg kick, but it’s checked quickly by Dawson. Tay uses Griff’s forward aggression and he plants himself suddenly to tie her up in a text book double collar thai clinch! Griffin tries to push Tay away to stay at striking range, but Tay doesn't want to break the clinch. Getting frustrated, Dawson launches a knee of her own but Tay pushes Griffin Dawson back and the knee hits nothing but air.]

[Dang Tay circles out and Griff continues coming forward like a true warrior. Tay fakes a punch and launches himself forward at Griffin pushing his opponent against the cage in another troublesome thai clinch. Dawson pummels first position and gets double underhooks. She turns Tay into the cage, and looks for the takedown but Dang is able to fight it off and remain standing. The action stalls for a bit and Dusty Whittaker separates the fighters to restart in the middle of the cage.]

[Dang Tay feints a punch and shows some footwork as he closes the distance to get inside again behind his jab. Dawson shoots forward with a double leg attempt and pushes her opponent against the fence to pummel up to a single collar tie position. Tay is right at home in the clinch and he ducks under Griffin Dawson’s embrace and puts some distance between them. Griffin closes the distance again and Dang makes her pay with a nasty hook to the body.]

[Dawson didn't like that, and she takes a few steps back to get a couple seconds to recover her breath. Dang Tay doesn’t relent though, and he pushes the pace and attempts a sweep single. Tay catches Griffin Dawson's far ankle and trips her to the mat with a slick takedown! Tay lands in closed guard over Dawson, and he uses some of his wrestling skills to escape and jump to side mount, and then mount in a seamless transition!]

[The crowd in TD Garden are going nuts once again as Tay tries to open up Dawson with a few more vicious strikes from his right elbow. Some nice shots are landing, and Dawson is trying to block them with her hands the best she can. Finally, she rolls and gives up her back out of desperation! Tay immediately gets both hooks in, and he works on the ground with his fingers over Dawson's face, trying to limit her airflow. The only problem is, he seems to poke her eye in doing so and Dusty Whittaker sees it.]

[Dusty Whittaker halts the fight to give Dawson time to recover, and he takes away one point from Dang Tay for eye poke without even a warning. Dawson seems to be ready to fight again, and even looks a bit more fired up after getting a breather.]

[The fight resumes with both fighters standing and Griffin Dawson fires first with a well timed overhand that clocks Tay. Tay moves forward though and he surprises Dawson with a double overhook clinch that presses Dawson backwards until she hits the fence. Dang transitions to a Thai plum and unloads a barrage of knees, looking to put this fight away after losing a point. Brutal knees land to Dawson's face, followed by alternating knees to the body from Dang Tay! Bang! Dawson can’t take many more shots like these!]

[She tries to shrug her way out of the clinch, but Tay is determined to do some damage here. He pummels through to maintain his position and makes her pay with a few more vicious knees right as the ten second marker sounds. Nice hits to Dawson's ribs! One, two, three! Tay doesn't stop launching the heat seekers that seem to be finding a home over and over again.]

[Finally, one particularly devastating knee lands square on Dawson' chin! The pop is so loud that it’s heard throughout the arena! The crowd erupts at the same time the horn does to signal the end of the fight. It’s too late though as Dawson folds like fresh linen. Dang Tay lands the knockout blow that he wanted! Dawson is down! Dawson has been absolutely destroyed here! A great last second finish for Dang Tay!]

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[Zari and Natalie touch gloves before stepping back just a step each, spending the first few seconds of the fight feeling each other out. King throws a couple tentative punches, but nothing too damaging at first--but when Zari starts responding, Nat turns her intensity up, and starts getting the better of the exchange, tagging Zari with a couple strong right hands. She swings a wicked low kick, but Zari steps back to avoid it. When she moves back in, though, King tags her with a MASSIVE punch that clearly wobbles the former Bantamweight Champion!]

[With Zari on the ropes, Nat moves in and tries to catch a clinch, but Zari recovers well enough to avoid it at first; Natalie won’t be refused, though, and works her way into a Thai plum. She pushes Zari back against the cage before throwing some solid, thumping knees to the body, then a couple to the head that clearly stun Zari. Zari becomes more concerned with protecting her head, which leaves her body open--and Natalie is keenly aware of that, as she digs a few short punches into Zari’s ribs, before jumping and slamming her knee into Zari’s sternum!]

[Clearly stunned, Zari tries to move out of the clinch, but Natalie’s got her tied up far too well. She throws a couple distracting knees to the thighs before another series of body shots; this time, Zari’s able to get her guard up and block most of the damage. She manages to push herself free, but no sooner is the clinch broken than Natalie tags her with a HUGE right hand! She follows it up with another strong leg kick, but Zari checks it and circles away]

[The fight becomes a wild brawl for several seconds, but neither woman lands anything too significant--then, Zari takes a chance and shoots a double-leg takedown! It might have been telegraphed, or maybe Natalie’s reactions were just this good, but all Zari gets is a MASSIVE kick to the head that sends her to the mat, face-first, and forces Dusty Whittaker to step in and call the fight.]
