[After the opening intro video finishes up, we fade into the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado which is packed with 7,200 fans in attendance. The crowd is on their feet cheering in anticipation for the night’s bouts. Camera angles pan around from one point to another, catching fans, athletes, and celebrities in attendance. We then transition to meet the voices of the octagon, Patrick Carson and Nora Bauer standing cageside.]

PATRICK CARSON

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, we are live on the Battleground Network at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado and this is Boss Fight V! I am Patrick Carson and alongside me is the beautiful Nora Bauer! Tonight is the first event of 2019 and with a new year comes a wave of new fighters.

NORA BAUER

Union Grand Prix has been on a roll with signing new talent in the recent weeks. Tonight we get a chance to see them in action as they begin their journey through the rankings.

PATRICK CARSON

We have the debut of Middleweight fighter Talon Clem taking on Kira Izumi. Cruiserweight fighters Kaukau Havili and debuting Dylan Michaels squaring off. Gina VanZant and Julia Tran going at it, Saffron Harris taking on the debuting Kelsi Morrow, Aryeh Rothstein taking on the debuting Misty DeMeans all in the Lightweight Division. We've got a Heavyweight bout with two monsters in Amani Crawford and Damiko Conrad slugging it out. Our Co-Main Event sees the return of Hailey McIntyre taking on the rising Delaney Donovan. and in our Main Event, the wait is finally over as we finally see the debut of Navorro Williams as he takes on Jeremiah Ford in a Middleweight Divisional bout.

NORA BAUER

It's a night filled with hungry fighters striving to inch their way closer to a respective title shot and it all goes down right here, right now!

BF5_Clem-vs-Izumi.png

PATRICK CARSON

We are set to kickoff this night with a Middleweight bout in the opener. Talon Clem is set to make his Union Grand Prix debut, and judging by his demeanor during his walkout, he looks calm and he’s soaking it all in.

NORA BAUER

Clem comes out of the highly acclaimed RAW GRAPS Gym, where some of today’s best competitors train day in and day out. Talon is best known for his striking game with his kickboxing background. His mental toughness can push him through some difficult situations, and is known to be solid defensively on the ground. It’ll be interesting to see how he fares against a submission artist like Izumi.

PATRICK CARSON

And speaking of Kira Izumi, he comes in tonight on a four fight losing skid and still searching for his first win. He’s shown great improvement in each fight he’s taken on, but the rookie mixed martial artist still has a lot to learn.

NORA BAUER

Yes, he’s shown some big improvements, but he still does a lot of rookie mistakes that he needs to address. UGP President Dante Reed released a list of fighters nearing the end of their current contracts, and Kira was one who was down to two fights left. I’m sure Dante would re-sign him, given the working relationship the two have had since mid 2017 in Union Battleground. But Kira needs to decide whether this is something he wants to further pursue, because you cannot be indecisive in this sport, or it will eat you alive.

MIKE DEMPSEY

NORA BAUER
Big test for both of these fighters. Can Talon start off on the right foot in his Union GO career or will Kira finally chalk one up in the ‘W’ column? 65% of the fans that took our social media poll believe that Kira Izumi comes out of this one victorious!

PATRICK CARSON
It would definitely be a big win for either fighters, and now we’re about to find out who will get their hand raised in the end. Our referee for this contest is Herschel Warden. He checks off with each fighter one last time and calls for the bell! And here we go!

=========================================

ROUND ONE

Izumi is unable to remain on his feet and falls back to the ground!]

[Talon is in open guard over Izumi.  Clem tries to open up Izumi with a few strikes with his right elbow. Some nice shots are landing and Izumi is trying to block them with his hands. Talon Clem is cooling the fight on the ground now. Clem almost effortlessly jumps to side mount and Kira is looking tired. Izumi launches a few punches to Clem's cheek from the guard. Those punches sure are annoying because Clem tries to cover his face. Clem positions himself for a round of ground and pound and tries to finish the fight with some precise elbows! One, two, three! Izumi's being punished here! Izumi has a small cut in his left cheek now!]

[Clem holds Kira Izumi and tries to launch a knee to his ribs! Izumi was unable to defend that nasty strike! Clem is trying to better his position on the ground and launches a couple of elbows against Izumi's ribs. Izumi blocks Clem's moves and tries to reverse the situation. CAGESIDE

WITH DYLAN CARTER

[Before our Cruiserweight bout of the evening our cameras follow along as Dylan Carter makes her way through the crowd to mid-stadium seating and the cameras focus in on Alexander Irvine, the newest contract fighter recruited by Union GP. The fans let out a small pop for those who have followed Lion’s Road, MAX-J, and Seattle Pro in the professional wrestling scene over the years.]

DYLAN CARTER

Hello fans, we would like to take a break from the action tonight to welcome Alexander Irvine to our family.

[Irvine has finished standing up and stands next to Dylan and leans towards the microphone.]

ALEXANDER IRVINE

Thank you it’s a pleasure to be here and I look forward to getting in the cage for some new competition.

[Dylan smiles.]

DYLAN CARTER

Mr. Irvine, its not secret to old school MMA fans who you are, but with the growing young fan base around the world, do you have any words for people who are newer to the sport?

[Irvine smirks as he adjusts the hat on his head.]

ALEXANDER IRVINE

Years ago, when this sport was young, they gave me the nickname of “The Unnatural” because I’ve always had a work ethic that defined the definition of obsession and bordered the line of possession. I may not have been in MMA professionally for a few years, but I have been terrorizing the Professional Wrestling landscape for years. Those who don’t know who I am will be buying “The Wolf” t-shirts in a few weeks, stalking their opposition in the yard like I do those in the ring.

DYLAN CARTER

Any words for those who may be in that very ring with you soon?

ALEXANDER IRVINE

I didn’t come to Union GP at the age of 41 to play fight or warm up with any of the limp-wristed Mary’s that might be in the undercard here. I’m here to either climb the ladder, or the pile of bodies in my wake. Either way the name Alexander Irvine is going to be written on the cover of these programs in no time.

[Irvine steps back into a fighting pose with a smirk and Dylan smiles as she turns back to the camera.]

DYLAN CARTER

Well you heard it here folks. The Unnatural is back and it’s under the Union GP banner. Back to you guys at ring side.

BG5_Havili-vs-Michaels.png

PATRICK CARSON

Coming up next, we have a Cruiserweight bout slated with Kaukau Havili taking on a debuting Dylan Michaels. We don’t know much about Michaels, but from what we’ve heard through the grapevine leading up to this fight, he has a solid wrestling base and has a decent all-round skill set.

NORA BAUER

Kaukau Havili is coming off from losing his debut fight against Nathan Lucas. He showed a lot of promise in that fight though, as they won Fight of the Night honors at Boss Fight III. Havili also has that wrestling background, but he also comes with an aggressive striking game, both standing and on the ground.

MIKE DEMPSEY

BF5_VanZant-vs-Tran.png

PATRICK CARSON

We are now set to witness another debut, this time in the Lightweight Division. Julia Tran makes her debut here tonight against Gina VanZant. Julia is fighting out of the world renowned Real Killa MMA camp and from what we’ve gathered, she is a brown belt in Judo and has a solid background in karate. Her cardio, from what I’m told, of through the roof, which will come in hand as she is the smallest fighter under contract.

NORA BAUER

Weighing in just over a hundred pounds, Tran is going to have to stay on the move and keep her opponent guessing. VanZant is coming off from a debut loss to Kaelan Laughlin where she took the fight on just ten days notice. Now that she has a full camp under her for this fight, it’ll be interesting to see what she can do.

BF5_Harris-vs-Morrow.png

PATRICK CARSON

Up next we have our second of four Lightweight bouts. Saffron Harris will be taking on the debuting Kelsi Morrow. Both of these fighters are still in their rookie stages, but with Morrow we have very little footage to study on. From what we could gather, Morrow is a kickboxer who is deceptively strong for this division. She has incredible willpower and sharp ring awareness to avoid damaging strikes.

NORA BAUER

With Saffron Harris, she’s competed in a few fights before making the jump to Union GP. In her debut here, she scored a hard fought unanimous decision win over Amedea Rao. We know she has a good ground game with her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu background, but the big question here is whether or not she can take the fight to the ground and cut off her opponent.

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer with a Union GP record of 0-0. She stands a 5’7” and weighing in at 125 pounds. She is from the Sacramento, California, she is “Gold Star” Kelsi Morrow!

[Harris raises a fist in the air, acknowledging the fans. She looks calm but knows she has a tough fight coming up as bounces in place in her corner.]

NORA BAUER

Listen to the crowd here tonight, it’s almost unanimous for Saffron Harris! This rookie has certainly built quite a following in just a short amount of time. 83% of the fans that took our social media poll believe that Saffron Harris walks out of this one 2-0!

PATRICK CARSON

Big lofty numbers there, let’s see how it plays out. Our referee for this contest is Jordan Ripley. He checks off with each fighter one last time and calls for the bell! And here we go!

And now, it’s time for our Co-Main Event of the evening. We are about to see the return of Hailey McIntyre, after coming up short in her Lightweight Title fight against Jordan Parker-Kane, take on the Irish newcomer Delaney Donovan, who is coming off an impressive debut win over Lauren Moore.

NORA BAUER

This is going to be another big test for Donovan, who takes on another solid ground fighter. Delaney has made no bones about it, he prefers the fight standing where he can utilize his striking game. It’s a great clash of styles here and we’re about to see who can take control and ride it to victory.

MIKE DEMPSEY

PATRICK CARSON

Close round here in the first, I don't know if it's the bright lights, but both of these fighters looked a little gassed coming into this.

NORA BAUER

You're right, both of these competitors tried to work in some offense, but they looked a bit sluggish. I think Donovan takes this round as he was able to hold his own on the ground. Hailey needs to attack on the feet or execute better on the ground or this one will be an uphill battle for her.

BF5_Williams-vs-Ford.png

PATRICK CARSON

And now ladies and gentlemen, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Up next we have the main event Middleweight bout between #3 ranked Jeremiah Ford against the Union Grand Prix debuting Navorro Williams.

NORA BAUER

Let's talk first about our ranked fighter Jeremiah Ford. He’s cut his teeth here in this promotion, and looked extremely good throughout the championship round robin. However, he comes in tonight on a two fight losing skid and has lost three of his last four. Two of those losses to Middleweight Champion Cristian Bonanno and one to Edan McLeod. A win here tonight for Jeremiah will certainly help keep him in the top contention in the division.

PATRICK CARSON

And now let’s switch sides to the former MMA champion Navorro Williams. Vo was one of the first signings to Union Grand Prix, but his debut has been delayed due to him just recently becoming a father. It shows the kind of character he has to put his fight career on hold in order to stay at home with his expecting wife.

NORA BAUER

He had the opportunity to enter the championship round robin and strive to become the first Middleweight Champion, but there’s more to life than your job. He watched alongside all of us to see Throne MMA camp teammate Cristian Bonanno take that title in dominating fashion. Williams comes in tonight as a former champion and has a huge following behind him and has said that now that he’s back, Bonanno will finally have a legitimate challenger waiting in the wings. If he can pull off a win tonight against a top ranked fighter, I can’t imagine we wouldn’t see that fight sooner rather than later.

MIKE DEMPSEY
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Main Event of the evening! The following contest is scheduled for five rounds in the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Division. He is from Oskaloosa, Iowa, he is Jeremiah “Bullfrog” Ford!

[Ford steps out from the corner and raises a fist in the air before going back to bouncing in place.]

MIKE DEMPSEY
And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grappler with a Union GP record of 0-0. He stands at 5’10” and weighing in at 175 pounds. He is from Las Vegas, Nevada by way of Washington DC, fighting out of Throne MMA, he is “Warrior” Navorro Williams!

[Williams looks at the ground while he bounces around to keep loose. He knows this is a big night for him. He looks like he has been waiting for this fight forever.]

NORA BAUER
We are just seconds away of seeing a colossal Middleweight fight that could potentially shake up the division. 67% of the fans that took our social media poll believe that Navorro Williams comes out of this one victorious!

PATRICK CARSON
It’s hard to argue with that statistic considering the accolades he’s racked up in such a short amount of time. It’s time now to turn it over inside the octagon. PATRICK CARSON

This opening round has concluded and to me, Jeremiah Ford took this one with ease. He was able to contain Navorro Williams in every phase of the fight game and executed a solid strategy.

NORA BAUER

I’d have to agree. Jeremiah did some big damage in the clinch, which can be attributed from his wrestling background. But the thing that somewhat surprised me was his ability to take and hold control on the ground, something Williams is known to excel at. Maybe it’s the ring rust, but Vo is going to have to do better in the second.

PATRICK CARSON

A better showing for Navorro here in the second, but I still feel like Ford takes this one. Williams looked more like himself and narrowed the gap, but Jeremiah kept the pressure on him.

NORA BAUER

Navorro needs to avoid the clinch with Jeremiah. The Bullfrog has done his most damage in the clinch so far, so if he can avoid that situation he’ll have a better chance. Williams looked better on the ground and was able to execute some solid counters, I think he needs to continue with that.

Another tight round here! This is the first time we’ve seen a fight make it past the fourth round, and you can see it in both of these fighters. Both are starting to look drained, but they’re keeping the tempo high.

NORA BAUER

Williams continued to use the counter game to his advantage and kept Jeremiah guessing. It’s encouraging for Navorro to see him stuff several takedown attempts from the college All-American and finally starting to execute some of his submission game. He nearly caught Jeremiah in a couple of spots, but now it’s time to see what these guys are made of in the FIFTH and final round!

And this one goes to the debuting Navorro Williams in a nail biting split decision! Incredible performance by both of these guys here tonight. This is the fight I would show people if I wanted to create new fans! The fans here tonight definitely got their money’s worth!

NORA BAUER

No doubt about it. We finally got to see the Union Grand Prix debut of a former champion and he made a statement here tonight, taking down a top contender in the division. It’ll be interesting to see where Jeremiah Ford goes from here, now losing three straight.

PATRICK CARSON

No question he’s going to have to take a long look at what his future holds. He’s teased the idea of dropping back down to 155, maybe after tonight that might be the most logical next step for him. But that’s all the time we have here tonight ladies and gentlemen. Check back with us January 19th as we head out to South Dakota for UGP 7 only on the Battleground Network. For Nora Bauer, I’m Patrick Carson, goodnight everybody!
