CAGESIDE

WITH DYLAN CARTER

[The cameras cut to cageside, where Dylan Carter can be seen with a microphone in her hand. As if on cue, she raises it to her lips and looks into the camera with a bright smile.]

DYLAN CARTER

What a great night of fights so far, and what a great year it has been for Union GP as a whole. We continue to see this roster grow in size, filling to the brim with some of the best and brightest talent in the world. Chairman Dante Reed is always on the lookout for up and coming prospects, and it seems like he's possibly found one in brand new signee, Zion Momo'a.

[The camera pans out a bit to show the Middleweight kickboxing stand out with his own mic, a huge smile plastered on his face as he listens to the female speak intently.]

DYLAN CARTER

Zion, the MMA world was in a frenzy last weekend when you finished top ten fighter Jeremiah Ford in under 30 seconds with the headkick heard around the world. The video went viral, and it wasn't long before the boss was on your doorstep, ready to offer you a deal. How does this all feel right now?

[Zion gives a simple shrug and turns on the charm as he looks into the camera lens to answer the question]

ZION MOMO'A

It feels incredible. I was cageside for both of my sister's fights here in Union. I saw how well the fighters are treated here and I saw how great the Matchmakers and staff are as well. I had no doubt that I wanted to be here, in this company. I just had to find the road to do that. Ford served as that road.

DYLAN CARTER

Without a doubt. It would've been easy to use your sister to get a foot in the door, but instead you were determined to have your own way. I think the MMA world can really respect that and rally behind a fighter who has such a respect for this business.

[Zion nods at the reporter and gives her a playful wink. ]

ZION MOMO'A

I love this sport Dylan. It's the hardest sport in the world, and to me… that's not debatable. You play football, you play hockey… you don't PLAY fighting. I didn't want to get here on anyone's back but my own, because I respect the sacrifices that the men and women of this sport have made to be here as well. I like to earn everything I've received in life. I don't want any handouts.

[Dylan smiles and pats the Middleweight on his back gently.]

DYLAN CARTER

Believe me, after your last fight the WORLD feels like you've earned this contract. You and Tatum are still free agents when it comes to calling a gym home. Is that likely to change soon?

ZION MOMO'A

Oh, yeah. For sure. We've visited a lot of camps and I've made a lot of friends in the sport. I'm not sure where we'll land right now, but the options are being weighed heavily and as soon as we decide… you'll be one of the first to know.

DYLAN CARTER

Awesome! Now, I think one of the questions on everyone's mind is how this situation with Rob Jones plays out now that you're in Union. Is there a catch-weight bout on the horizon?

[Zion's smile disappears at the mention of the name, and a scowl appears in it's place. ]

ZION MOMO'A

Fuck that guy. I'll fight him tonight. There won't be a fight because he keeps ducking me. I don't even want to talk about it. We done here?

[Dylan looks surprised by the sudden shift in the man's demeanor, and she takes a small step back.]

DYLAN CARTER

I'm sorry. You're right, this night is about you and that was out of line. I think I speak for everyone when I say that it will be exciting to see you here under the union banner and I wish you the best of luck!

[The smile returns to his face once more, but it's fake and manufactured for the camera. There's a fire in his eyes as he stares into the lens intently. ]

ZION MOMO'A

Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting to work.

Now we all saw your fight against Reno Nevada at Boss Fight VIII, and while it was an incredible fight, winning fight of the night honors no less, you were on the losing end of it.

[Travis lets out a chuckle.]

TRAVIS DECKER

Thank you for the reminder, Ms. Skye.

[Savannah gives a polite smile.]

SAVANNAH SKYE

I’m sorry, but I do have a point I promise. Tonight you go against a veteran competitor in “Strangla” Simon Bishop. In your mind how does this fight compare to the first, and how did it affect your preparation for tonight?

TRAVIS DECKER

As I said on twitter earlier this week, Simon is a completely different beast to Reno. Despite the opinions of some others, I don’t take him lightly, nor will I with anyone I step into the cage against. Now I’m sure I have been written off by a few people after I got knocked out in my first fight, but the fact is that now that I have tasted it it is something that I never want to taste again. I was truly alive in that cage, and now in my second fight I am determined to bounce back. Because of how I know I am viewed, I refuse to make that mistake. Each and every person who fights in this sport is a threat and can end you at any moment, including me, and including my opponent. Simon is a submission guy through and through, he wants to get his opponents to the ground and tap them out. So, my preparation has been working overtime on my takedown defence.

SAVANNAH SKYE

Is that your strategy for this fight?

TRAVIS DECKER

Absolutely. During my research on Simon’s past fights, it is obvious that his striking is not the best, and despite what it seemed like in my last fight, it is where I excel. I’m no slouch on the ground, but especially in this fight my plan is to keep it on the feet and then kick his head off his shoulders.

SAVANNAH SKYE

Its a simple plan.

TRAVIS DECKER

Simple but effective, I hope.

SAVANNAH SKYE

Well Travis, thank you for your time, and good luck tonight.

TRAVIS DECKER

Thanks Savannah, hopefully I don’t need it, but I’ll take it just the same.

[Travis smiles as Savannah motions to the camera, the feed cutting off.]

PATRICK CARSON

Ladies and gentlemen, we are just moments away from our main event. Coming to the cage right now is one of our newest Middleweight fighters, Luca Brasi. The Pride of Manchester is coming into tonight with a win against Simon Bishop in his Union debut.

NORA BAUER

Brasi gave an excellent performance and ruined Bishop’s return. Tonight, Brasi faces a more experienced fighter who will test his striking skills. Luca will need to incorporate his wrestling and try to take the fight to the ground to give himself the best chances at winning.

LUCAAAA! LUCAAAA! LUCAAAA! LUCAAAA!

BRASIIII! BRASIIII! BRASIIII! BRASIIII

[The young grappler bounces on his way to the cage. His arms sway back and forth as he keeps loosened up. Once at the steps the remove his hood revealing his buzzed cut hair before Removing his walkout jacket.]

MANCHESTER LA LA LA!

LISTEN UP HERE, I'LL MAKE IT QUITE CLEAR

I'M GONNA PUT SOME BOOGIE IN YOUR EAR

SHAKE AND BOP, DON'T YOU STOP

DANCE LIKE A MANIAC UNTIL YOU DROP

[Fade to Reno Nevada walking in a dark corridor backstage, flanked by officials, with his corner men following close behind. The Outlaw is dressed in a newsboy cap, a white wife-beater tank top, brown twill pants and suspenders. He has a big, shit-eatin' grin on his face.]

PATRICK CARSON

Making the final walkout of the night, the man, the myth, the legend...

[Back in the arena, spotlights converge on the entrance. Nevada walks out to a raucous ovation. He follows the path cut through the floor seats, strutting like a right bastard. Near the cage, he swigs from an offered bottle of water from an official then chucks it into the crowd. His cap is thrown after it, caught by a lucky fan.]

PATRICK CARSON

… The Outlaw Reno Nevada! This Boston Brawler has grown a cult following since his days as a bare knuckle boxer and it’s only growing bigger. Ole Renny Red Balls made a big splash in his debut fight for Union Grand Prix, scoring a second round knockout over Travis Decker which earned Fight of the Night honors.

NORA BAUER

It was a wild fight no doubt that stole the show in Japan and Reno will need to carry that fire into this fight. Reno is the superior striker no doubt, and the guy’s drive is unmatched in this sport. He feels most comfortable on his feet, so expect these two brawlers to light some fireworks here!

[He undresses down to his fight gear, then approaches a referee who applies Vaseline to eyebrows, cheeks, and nose. A second referee steps up, inspecting his gloves and shorts, and clears him to enter the cage.]

[Nevada races up the steps and takes a lap around the inner circle of the cage. He stops in his corner, bounces around on his feet, and shadow boxes.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer with a Union GP record of 1-0. He stands at 6’2” and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Boston, Massachusetts, fighting out of Tide of Blood, he is “The Outlaw” Reno Nevada!

[Reno Nevada is beating himself up in the corner before the fight begins, smacking himself in the face, body and legs to get ready for his fight.]

NORA BAUER

We are all set and ready for this Main Event Bout to kick off. Both of these fighters are similar in height, weight, and fighting style. Virtually identical!

PATRICK CARSON

Reno has experience but Luca has youth on his side. It's hard to say who will be winning this fight and the social media feedback has been back and forth between the two. The referee for this bout is Herschel Warden and he’s calling for the bell! And here we go!

What a finish for Luca Brasi! It was starting to look bleak for the Manchester product, but he slipped an armbar deep and Reno had no choice but to tap!

NORA BAUER

I think Reno will want to run this one back. He was starting to build some offense but got caught with that submission. This one is gonna sting.
