RUN IT BACK

WITH SAVANNAH SKYE

[The camera cuts to an interview recorded earlier in the day, showing Savannah Skye standing by with middleweight fighter, “Ripcord” Travis Decker.]

SAVANNAH SKYE

Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time, Travis Decker.

[Travis smiles as he gives a nod to Savannah.]

TRAVIS DECKER

Always a pleasure, Ms. Skye.

SAVANNAH SKYE

So the first question I have is regarding what you had to say at the press conference. You are usually quite quiet and reserved, but you showed a different side to you, an edge almost. What brought on that change?

TRAVIS DECKER

The thing is Savannah, is it's not really a change. Yes I am usually rather soft spoken, but that is because I don’t believe in wasting words. That said, when I have something to say, I’m going to say it, and that has been my way for a long time. I had things Reggie and the world needed to hear, so they did. And unlike him, I addressed them to him directly like a competitor.

SAVANNAH SKYE

Would it be safe to say that Reggie’s actions, or inactions as it were, have gotten under your skin?

TRAVIS DECKER

That term is usually associated with getting into someone’s head, with psyching them out. In that regard, no. What is /has/ done is fire me up even more, make me even more determined and driven to put him down in the middle of the cage. Reggie, and his entire camp for that matter, need to be taught some humility. I will make sure a lesson is learned tonight.

SAVANNAH SKYE

Well Travis, thank you for your insight and good luck tonight!

TRAVIS DECKER

Thanks Savannah, until next time.

CAGESIDE

WITH DYLAN CARTER

[As the camera pans over the raucous Sacremento crowd we catch sight of Dylan Carter, Alejandro Rivera and Jack Nation cageside chatting.  Dylan Carter raises the microphone to her mouth addressing Alejandro.]

DYLAN CARTER

Congratulations on your win at UGP 11!  A brutal first round headkick of Amani Crawford.  You’re becoming known for those.

[Alejandro laughs, nodding his head as he does so.]

DYLAN CARTER

With that you became the #1 ranked Heavyweight in Union GP, but there are mentions of Donnie Calabrese, and a possible #1 contenders bout, or him even receiving a shot at Derrick La’Bell next.

[With that last statement Alejandro’s eyes flash.]

ALEJANDRO RIVERA

You know Dylan.  In MMA fan support is a major factor.  I’ve heard that same rumor, and you can tell that Motherfucker this.  If his 5-4 stupid ass thinks he has what it takes to fight me for my shot at the belt, then I won’t turn him away.  He doesn’t need to get his hopes up, because I will do to him what I did to Damiko Conrad and Amani Crawford, that’s knock them out in the first round.

DYLAN CARTER

There’s also rumor running wild mostly through Twitter that Donnie may even get the next shot.

ALEJANDRO RIVERA

Well, that’s not my call, but if he does, I’ll be glad to beat up Bobbi London or do battle with my friend  Brock Quarry, but ‘Dog Face Donnie’ when we do meet expect to be punished for having the balls to take my title shot, even though I’m more qualified than you to fight for the belt.

DYLAN CARTER

Good luck Alejandro!  I hope it all works out.

[Alejandro nods and takes a seat as Dylan turns her attention to Jack.]

DYLAN CARTER

May I have a moment of your time Jack?

[Jack nods, puts down his Bud Light, and stands up.]

DYLAN CARTER

At UGP 11, you were defeated by Byron McCall in a close fight.  Do you have any future plans?

JACK NATION

What I really want is another shot at Byron McCall.  He had better ground defense then I thought he would, and when I got up, I was to aggressive, and he caught me.  That’s very hard for a person like me to live with. So, Byron, I’m asking you for one rematch. Just one.

DYLAN CARTER

A plea from Jack Nation.  Back to you guys at the booth.

CAGESIDE

WITH DYLAN CARTER

[Dylan Carter stood, microphone in hand, beside one of the original members of Union GP, Kenzi Lacklan. The lightweight fighter was decked out in her #FightNight best, wearing a bright smile to match.]

DYLAN CARTER

I am here with Kenzi Grey…

[Kenzi cuts her off, the smile fading quickly.]

KENZI LACKLAN

It’s Lacklan Dylan.

DYLAN CARTER

Apologies for that, I didn’t realize. Mrs. Lacklan, your last fight was a loss at Boss Fight #8 against Tatum Momo’a in a decision. In fact, all of your losses have gone that way. That was the last fight on your contract. You teased the idea that you might be stepping away, are you ready to go public with what you’ve decided about your future here in Union GP?

[Kenzi was silent as she considered the question. It was obvious that she was torn over her future here. Finally she took a deep breath and said what was on her mind.]

KENZI LACKLAN

Dylan, I have loved my time here in Union GP…honestly, it has been amazing! Training for MMA has been one of the most intense things I have ever done; more than acting, football, or wrestling! I know a lot of people looked at me like I was crazy for even trying to step into the cage and go toe to toe with other athletes who have been doing this far longer than I have, but I did it. I was in the featured bout of UGP’s very first show last September and I walked out a winner and racked up the Fight of the Night to boot! That was incredible, but then there were the losses and that really got into my head. I managed to get Performance of the Night at Boss Fight VI, but the losses have really been a disappointment to me…

[She pauses and after a few moments Dylan prompts her.]

DYLAN CARTER

So, is this going to be last we see of you inside the cage?

[Her silence dragged on for a bit longer before she finally answered.]

KENZI LACKLAN

I remember when I signed on to compete in Union. The running joke was that this would be another thing that I would try my hand at, but would not take seriously. I think that I have taken this VERY seriously! I came here tonight and I looked around the locker room and it looked so different from when I started and the division was so thin. Now, there are more faces than I can count…there are fighters that have come to Union well after me and have skyrocketed to the top. I told the world that I am an insanely jealous bitch! Win or lose, I am not going to quit until I’m broken…and that hasn’t happened yet. I have fought my heart out inside that cage and no one…not a single person who has beaten me has been able to say that it was easy or that I couldn’t hang!

[She shook her head emphatically.]

KENZI LACKLAN

Am I done? HELL NO! This ride isn’t over for me…not yet! I have a lot more in the tank and I don’t plan on hanging it up until the wheels come off! I am going to keep training and keep fighting until I climb my way up the ladder! I am going to do what I have to do to get better…I’m going to take chances and maybe someone out there will finally find a hole in my game and turn my lights out, but I’m not going to quit…not yet! If they want me out of Union…they are going to have to knock me out of it! Mr. Reed…I’m coming back to the pay window daddy…get ready to sign me a fat check!

[Dylan turned to the camera.]

DYLAN CARTER

There you have it, a Union original is officially resigning and she plans to be on a mission when she makes her in-cage return!

BFX_DeMeans-vs-Morrow.png

MAN ON A MISSION, I'MMA TELL YOU MY POSITION

TREAT MY CONDITION WITH A FULL HEAD ON COLLISION

IT ONLY TAKE YOU ONE MINUTE

TO DROP YOURSELF IN IT

[“Greatness” by Don Broco begins to play throughout the arena as Kelsi Morrow slowly makes her way out to the main stage. Morrow bounces down the aisle with her usual bubbly upbeat personality as the crowd showers her with cheers. She continues to make her way down to cageside with several camp members following behind. She gets checked out by an official outside the cage to ensure she’s fit to fight. Once cleared, Morrow runs up the steps and sprints to her corner. Morrow stays warm, shadowing some punches and kicks while her music slowly fades out.]

PATRICK CARSON

And now the hometown hero is finally here. Kelsi Morrow has been quietly ascending the rankings, but this fight right now could very well put her next in line for a shot at the Lightweight Championship.

NORA BAUER

I don’t see how it couldn’t. Her opponent has been one of the most vocal fighters in all of Union Grand Prix, but she has backed up her talked so far. In the media blitz leading up to this fight, Morrow has hinted that she has felt slighted on being overlooked for other more vocal fighters, but she gets this fight tonight to showcase why she deserves the next title fight. She has a great striking portfolio that leads with her kicking game. If she can keep her striking range with DeMeans, she has a very good chance of coming out victorious here tonight!

I AM WILLING TO DIE FOR THIS SHIT

I AM READY TO FLIP IT AND END UP IN PRISON THE REST OF MY LIFE FOR THIS SHIT

SO MY MOMMA AIN'T WANT ME, SHE GOT AN ABORTION

I END UP SURVIVING THIS SHIT

[“Bank Account” by Lucas Joyner begins to play throughout the arena as Misty DeMeans slowly makes her way out to the main stage. A stoic snarl paints her face as she scans throughout the building, taking in the moment. She continues to make her way down to cageside with several camp members following behind. She gets checked out by an official outside the cage to ensure she’s fit to fight. Once cleared, DeMeans races up the steps and runs a quick lap around the octagon. She finally plants herself in her corner and begins rolling her shoulders back and forth to stay loose as she awaits for her opponent.]

PATRICK CARSON

And now with the final walkout of the night, the HILITE FC mouthpiece, Misty DeMeans is in the house! As we mentioned, DeMeans has been one of the most vocal fighters and has kept herself in the limelight. Whether it’s been the constant banter between basically any and every member of Real Killas MMA, or fighters that aren’t even under the Union GP banner, it seems that everyone has something to say about Misty DeMeans.

NORA BAUER

Which make this fight all the more interesting. Both of these fighters seemed to have given each other quite a bit of respect leading into tonight, which is a rarity for DeMeans at least. This fight should be an exciting one, as both are excellent strikers. Morrow, as we mentioned, loves to use her kicks, but DeMeans is more in tuned with her hands. Her biggest key to victory is to keep the fight close, in her striking range but out of Morrow’s kicking range. I’m excited to see how this one goes down!

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Main Event of the evening! The following contest is scheduled for five rounds in the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Division! Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer with a Union GP record of 3-0. She stands 5’7” and weighing in at 125 pounds. From Sacramento, California, fighting out of Throne MMA, she is “Gold Star” Kelsi Morrow!

[People are cheering for this fighter. You can hear Kelsi Morrow chants all around the place! Ferocious staredown by Morrow while Jordan Ripley recites the rules to her.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And her opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer with a Union GP record of 4-0. She stands 5’7” and weighing in at 155 pounds, from the Bronx, New york, fighting out of HILITE Fighting Club, she is “Miss Demeanor” Misty DeMeans!

[Misty DeMeans looks very relaxed and focused as she stays put in her corner without making any acknowledgment to the booing fans.]

NORA BAUER

Listen to this crowd. It’s no surprise that Kelsi Morrow is the favorite in this building. And judging by our fan polls, she’s the favorite for those watching at home. 61% of the fans that took our social media poll believe that Kelsi Morrow wins this one tonight.

PATRICK CARSON

The fans definitely has her back in this one. Morrow is one of those rare competitors who lets their actions speak for themselves. And now ladies and gentlemen, we are all set to get this main event fight started. The referee of the bout is Jordan Ripley. He checks off with each fighter one last time and calls for the bell. And here we go!

RG_round1.png

The fighters are clinching now. DeMeans throws a wild flurry of punches while in the clinch! Morrow is getting hit hard here!]

PATRICK CARSON

Kelsi Morrow started off doing a fantastic job evading Misty’s powerful strikes, but DeMeans has switched it up with the clinch to try and control the tempo now.

[DeMeans tries to control Kelsi Morrow in the clinch and use some dirty boxing. Morrow pushes DeMeans away before she could get anything going. Morrow looks to counter now! Quick hook by Kelsi Morrow and that good shot lands clean! DeMeans has reasons to be worried now. Nice punch by DeMeans and that nearly tags Morrow. DeMeans throws a punch that finds an opening in the defense of Morrow. The two step into each other and exchange wildly! Both landing some shots but without much steam behind them. DeMeans leans forwards and locks Morrow in the clinch again. Sick uppercut from the clinch by Misty DeMeans but Kelsi Morrow is agile enough to avoid the strike! That could have finished this fight! DeMeans pushes off of Morrow and starts launching a flurry of hooks and body shots! Morrow stumbles backwards but Misty DeMeans chases her and continues the rain of blows! Morrow's right eye is cut and bruised after the punishment she received! DeMeans postures up and launches another series of punches! A lot of them are hitting Morrow hard, who may be wondering how to escape from this! Hard blow to Morrow's mid-section! Kelsi Morrow seems hurt! She stumbles backwards and she's an easy target for Misty DeMeans! The buzzer sounds and Jordan Ripley tells the fighters to go to their corners as the round is over.]

PATRICK CARSON

A lot of back and forth in the opening frame of this fight! Kelsi Morrow was keeping DeMeans at bay for the majority of the round but it looked like DeMeans was finally able to build some offense right at the end there. Who do you think takes this round, Nora?

NORA BAUER

It’ll be tough to see how the judges score this one, but I think DeMeans stayed aggressive throughout the round, despite starting off slow. I think you have to give this one to Misty. Let’s see how these two adjust in the second round now.

RG_round2.png

[The second round opens up and the two fighters close the distance. A brilliant combination from Misty DeMeans forces Morrow to try and defend better. DeMeans looks for angles as she throws a few jabs that are countered by Morrow's punches. Morrow is on the receiving end of a great combo by DeMeans now. Kelsi Morrow just can't get away! Morrow hits the ground like a rag doll! That surgical strike by Misty DeMeans has left Morrow unconscious on the mat!]

PATRICK CARSON

And it’s all over! Misty DeMeans delivered an impeccable combination in the clinch and Kelsi Morrow had nowhere to go!

[The crowd goes into pandemonium, raining down boos as DeMeans celebrates her victory with her corner crew. Doctors tend to Morrow for a few moments before helping her back up to her feet. After doctors and cutmen finish their work, the two fighters meet back in the middle of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Jordan Ripley  has called for a stop in this fight at 1 minute 15 seconds of the second round for your winner by knockout, “Miss Demeanor” Misty DeMeans!

PATRICK CARSON

Folks, this crowd is at deafening volumes right now! They obviously did not like what they just saw, but like Mick Jagger says, “You can’t always get what you want”. Big win here for Misty DeMeans, but what will this do for Kelsi Morrow moving forward?

NORA BAUER

It’ll hurt her a little bit in the rankings, but I think you really need to look into this fight. She did a tremendous job here. She read the fight well and wasn't afraid of engaging. She kept DeMeans guessing for a majority of the fight and was able to work in some good, solid offense. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t her night tonight. She’ll bounce back I’m sure and be right back into that title fight discussion.

PATRICK CARSON

Well folks, that is all the time we have here tonight. Join us again only on the Battleground Network as we head out to the Windy City for UGP 12! For Nora Bauer, I’m Patrick Carson, goodnight everybody!
