Vermeulen tries to show some ground skills but Leibowitz uses his strength to keep her at a disadvantage. Leibowitz looks to pass to mount as he slides his knee across and achieves the full mount position! Tough spot for Yasmine Vermeulen.]

[Yasmine Vermeulen tries to roll to her side and trap Leibowitz in her guard but Leibowitz keeps good control and remains in full mount. Leibowitz tries to finish the fight with an armbar from the top now! He’s locking that armbar, you can see the pain reflected in Vermeulen's eyes! That armbar looks tight but Vermeulen is able to slip free from the submission! Vermeulen tries to roll to her side and trap Leibowitz in her guard but Leibowitz keeps good control and remains in full mount. Leibowitz is moving on the ground and BOOM! That was a headbutt! Did he do that intentionally? Herschel Warden saw it! Warden takes away one point from Leibowitz for headbutt. Warden halts the fight to give Vermeulen time to recover. After a few moments, Vermeulen seems to be ready to fight again. The fight resumes with both fighters standing.]

[Back on their feet, the two exchange wildly and Leibowitz is connecting with a few punches. A high kick from Vermeulen misses badly and she slips and falls to the mat! Leibowitz is standing while Vermeulen is on the ground on her back. Vermeulen tries to stand up but Leibowitz doesn't allow her to. Both fighters remain in this situation until the buzzer sounds. Herschel Warden tells the fighters to go to their corners as the round is over.]

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The second round begins and both fighters circle around to the center of the cage. Leibowitz launches a stiff jab! That barely hits Vermeulen's face but it seems like one finger has poked his eye! Herschel Warden didn't see the foul! Nice counter punches from Yasmine Vermeulen but even nicer blocks from Leibowitz. Leibowitz shoots a single leg and brings Yasmine to the ground.]

[Leibowitz is in side mount over Vermeulen. Yasmine attempts to trap Leibowitz in her guard but Warren keeps control and remains in side mount. Vermeulen's being punished here! Leibowitz hooks Vermeulen's right leg and sits back for a kneebar! What a punishing hold! Vermeulen struggles to free herself, you can see the pain reflected in her eyes. Vermeulen continues to fight and manages to kick Leibowitz away and scrambles on top!]

[Vermeulen is in open guard over Leibowitz. Leibowitz launches a few punches to Vermeulen's cheek from the guard. Those punches sure are annoying because Vermeulen tries to cover her face. He is now in full mount over Yasmine Vermeulen! Vermeulen tries to roll to her side and trap Leibowitz in her guard but Leibowitz keeps good control and remains in full mount. Leibowitz tries to better his position on the ground. He’s in a great position to begin some ground and pound but instead Leibowitz throws the leg over and rolls it over into an armbar! That's more than Vermeulen can stand! Her arm is outstretched and she taps before succumbing to any serious injury.]

[The scene switches to something that was clearly filmed ahead of time. A familiar leggy blonde sits with her legs crossed and her hands folded in her lap, ready to ask questions of a rather large and muscly man who had only been featured on Union programming once since signing his contract. Most remember him as a man who talked all kinds of shit only to get worked by a man he had said sat in an office all day long. But the days of J.T. Spencer had come and gone and Joseph Byrne had gotten back on the grind, working to never let something like that happen again.]

HADLEY SCOTT

Hey guys and dolls, it’s your favorite, Hadley Scott, here.

[She makes a heart with her hands toward the camera and then focuses on the man seated across from her.]

HADLEY SCOTT

And I’ve got Joseph Byrne here with me, finally getting back into the cage after a tough loss to J.T. Spencer a few months back. So, lets get right to business. How are you feeling heading into this, your second professional fight?

[Joey clears his throat and eyes the blonde girl up and down while rubbing his palms together. Apparently she’s his type, but that doesn’t really matter all that much.]

JOSEPH BYRNE

Feel good. Real good. Feels like redemption is waiting for me inside that cage, you know? I did something I’ve told myself for a long time I wouldn’t do and that’s let my words get out in front of my talent, you know? I came in a bit arrogant. Overconfident, you know? And I paid for it. But I’ve been working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

[Hadley nods her head approvingly and smiles, completely ignoring the fact that the man was admiring her. It happened a lot, after all.]

HADLEY SCOTT

At UGP 16 you’ll be facing another man coming off a tough loss and looking to get his career on track as well. How do you think your styles match up?

[He shrugs his shoulders, not thinking too much about it.]

JOSEPH BYRNE

I don’t think our styles really matter as long as I do what I know I’m capable of doing. We’re going to see my trajectory start to tick upward from here on out. I want to throw down with the best of the best in this division and that starts with a victory tonight. I want to fight the Donnie Calabrese’s of the world. I want to fight the Derrick La’Bell’s of the world. I want to fight the Kennard Roziers of the world. I want all that damn smoke and when it’s all said and done I want my name to be mentioned as the greatest heavyweight the world has ever seen. I’ve put in the work. I’ll continue to put in the work. And when all is said and done, Milo will be able to look back on this night years from now and say that he was what helped me turn my career around. And I’ll be thankful to him for it.

[Nodding her head, Hadley smiles sweetly.]

HADLEY SCOTT

I have no doubt that that’s true, Mr. Byrne. And I certainly wish you the best of luck.

[Joey nods his head in her direction and returns her smile before plucking the microphone off of him to lean in and speak with her privately as the scene slowly fades and switches back to a live shot cageside.]

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell announces the first round! Dragomir wants to take the fight to his advantage and tries to clinch and moves forward, tying Byrne up. Joey tries to push him away but it’s to no avail as Dragomir manages to stifle his attempt. The two continue to jostle for position, with Byrne eventually gaining superior position in the clinch. Neither of the two men seem to be getting anywhere, though, as the grappling continues until Byrne manages to shrug his way out of Milo’s grasp. Dragomir’s gameplan becomes evident, though, as he continues to press the action trying to tie his opponent back up. But now every time he tries Byrne keeps him at bay with low kicks and though none of them connect they do their job in keeping Dragomir at range. With a stutter step, Dragomir fakes Byrne out and then shoots in for a single leg takedown and Byrne is unable to maintain his balance, going to the ground.]

[Byrne quickly closes his guard around his opponent and then with relative ease rolls on the ground and reverses the position, ending up in full mount. Dragomir tries to respond with a few weak punches but Joseph blocks them effectively and then counters with a mammoth shot to the left eye of his opponent. As his fist pulls away the damage can be seen as swelling already is beginning to show from the impact. Dragomir’s corner screams for him to get out of the position he’s found himself in but he’s stifled by Byrne’s ground game. Not much more action occurs though as Byrne works to keep the superior position and eventually the referee feels as though the action has stalled and forces the two fighters to stand once more. When the action resumes the two exchange wildly with Byrne connecting on a few punches.]

[Dragomir once more presses for the clinch and manages to get underhooks in but after grappling and improving his position, Byrne postures up and unloads with a flurry of blows, many of them hitting Dragomir with full force. Smartly, Dragomir tries to duck under Byrnes embrace but Joey doesn’t allow him to break free, though he does take a moment to catch his breath and Ripley quickly steps in and breaks the clinch when the action stalls once more.]

[A big right hand follows from Byrne when the action resumes and it slams viciously into the chin of Milo Dragmoir. The big right is followed with a big left hand from the large Englishman and when this one lands it sounds like Dragomir had been hit with a baseball bat as he crumbles and collapses to the canvas as the crowd erupts at the stunning knockout!]

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell announces the first round! Megan Reed wastes no time and tries to bring the fight to the ground, but Arnie Huynh won't budge, forcing Reed to pull guard. Huynh is in closed guard over Reed. Reed measures the resilience of Huynh's ribs with a couple of big punches from guard. Those hits are leaving hitches in Huynh's side. Reed tries to roll on the ground now! Nice reversal! She is now in full mount over Arnie Huynh!]

[Reed launches a barrage of elbows over Huynh's face! Those elbows may finish the fight soon if Huynh doesn't fight back! There is a small cut on the bridge of Arnie Huynh's nose. Reed catches Huynh's left arm and tries a kimura but Huynh holds his own arm and struggles until he gets free. Reed throws the leg over and rolls it over into an armbar! Huynh breaks the lock showing some great ground skills there! Reed now positions herself for some ground and pound and tries to finish the fight with some precise elbows but Huynh is able to cover up and block those strikes.]

[Reed sees an opportunity and suddenly holds Huynh's arm and tries an armbar! Huynh breaks the lock and now he is in a closed guard over Megan Reed! Arnie Huynh doesn't want to continue the fight in this position and quickly gets back on his feet. Willie Green halts the fight to stand up Megan Reed and the fight resumes with both fighters standing.]

[A high kick from Megan Reed falls short of the mark. Reed moves to shoot a takedown but Arnie Huynh delivers a knee that wrecks her! Reed fires off a brilliant combination but Huynh is showing some better dodging skills avoiding the strikes. A surprise roundhouse punch by Huynh connects and it looks like Reed was hit by a bus! Megan Reed circles around Huynh to get her bearings. Reed looks for angles as she throws a few jabs that are countered by Arnie Huynh's punches and she's on the receiving end of a great combo.]

[Huynh moves backward and Megan Reed is asking him if he came today for fighting or running. Huynh decides to launch some tentative punches and he takes the best of a brief punching exchange. Reed moves forward looking for some action but Huynh doesn't want to engage and backpedals. Solid kick to the leg from Megan Reed but Huynh checks it. Huynh launches a solid counter middle kick that wrenches Reed! Reed fires back with some low kicks but they fail to land. Huynh goes for a low kick and faster than the blink of an eye, he follows up with a vicious head kick! Reed seems staggered and Arnie Huynh runs to capitalize with a bunch of jabs and crosses. Willie Green has seen enough! The fight is over! Reed was not intelligently defending herself!]

[The camera cuts to earlier in the day where Savannah Skye is standing by.]

SAVANNAH SKYE

Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time, Scrapyard MMA fighter Gracyn Knight.

[Gracyn gives a polite nod to the camera before Savannah continues.]

SAVANNAH SKYE

Now Gracyn, how does it feel for you to have UGP 16 take place in Dublin?

GRACYN KNIGHT

Well Savannah while we’re not quite home for me, Scrapyard has been buzzing all damn week so it's hard to not be excited. Deedub has been off training like some monk or some shit so Carrick can't feel him up or whatever, but you can tell what it means for not only them, but the entire family. There are 5 of us on the fight card, and none of us wanna let the family down on our home turf, you bet your arse on that one. So it's exciting, its exhilarating, but the pressure is definitely there, especially for me.

SAVANNAH SKYE

That brings me to my next question. Your first two fights clearly didn’t go to plan, and were against a very similar style of fighter. How do you plan to turn that around for your fight against Andrei?

GRACYN KNIGHT

Well a lot of changes have been made since my loss to Bellamy, Savannah. In my fight against him and Xabier all of my strength and power didn’t mean shit when those dudes just rolled me around the fucking floor until tapping me out. So I’ve been making adjustments, learning different techniques and adjusting my tactics and mindset so I’m not so exposed on the ground. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna throw you to the ground and beat your arse, but these two losses have been super important to me as a fighter, and unfortunately for Andrei, he is going to be the reveal of the end result. Not just of my work, but of everyone in Scrapyard who has encouraged and helped me in my entire time there. I spoke before of the pressure of this fight, that is a large part of it. Sure, losing sucks, it feels like garbage, but I’ve been taking L’s through my whole life. Letting other people down though? That’s a pain that stays with you. These guys and girls really are my family and they’ve put everything into me so that I can succeed. We’re at home, we probably won’t be fighting back here for quite a while, and this is my opportunity to represent and make my family proud.

I can’t lose this fight, Savannah. I REFUSE to lose this fight. I’m not letting them down again.

SAVANNAH SKYE

Well if that passion translates into the cage my money would be on you, Gracyn. That’s all the time we have, thank you for making the time for me.

GRACYN KNIGHT
I’m always down for talking about myself, Sav.

[The two women chuckle as the camera cuts away.]

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell announces the first round! Gracyn kicks things off looking to take the fight where she wants it, trying to clinch with Kozlov and is successful in doing so. Andrei immediately tries to shrug his way out but Gracyn pummels through and keeps control. Quickly she tries to change levels for a takedown but Kozlov doesn’t allow her to do so and manages to catch her ankle instead, tripping her down to the canvas. From the bottom, Gracyn launches a few punches to Andrei’s cheek from closed guard but he presses his head forward to cover up and defend the punches. Knight tries to roll on the ground but is stuffed. Kozlov throws a few weak punches but he needs to improve his position for them to have any real effect. Again Gracyn tries to roll on the ground but Andrei maintains control and uses the opening to deliver some solid body shots to his opponent.]

[Still working hard, Gracyn continues to try to reverse the position on the ground but it just leaves her open to a flurry of punches from her opponent that connect with her face. She manages to cover up and defend herself and the action eventually stalls out forcing the referee to stand them both back up. When the action resumes, Gracyn quickly looks Kozlov up in a clinch and then fakes a punch. It’s enough to distract Andrei and Knight uses that to her advantage, tripping him and taking him to the ground. Quickly she positions herself and postures up, unleashing elbows upon him. One, two, three! Kozlov is being punished here. Seeing an opening, Gracyn manages to pass her opponents guard for just a moment but he recovers quickly. Once more in closed guard, Knight repeatedly and aggressively punches her opponent and it seems that things are teetering on the edge of being stopped. Posturing up once more, Knight throws vicious elbows but Kozlov finally tries to defend himself and manages to block them.]

[Over and over again the elbows reign down. Kozlov tries to roll on the ground and shows Gracyn a crack in his guard which she uses to drive an elbow home. Before she can pull her arm away, however, Kozlov locks onto it. He looks for a kimura but Gracyn manages to pull her arm free and uses the chance to pass his guard. When she tries to free her leg to pass from half guard, Kozlov moves quickly and in a flurry of action the two exchange weak strikes on their way back to their feet. The fans are really behind Gracyn as the first round continues to progress but Kozlov looks to revel in being the bad guy, landing a quick one-two combo and then disengaging before Knight can counter.]

[Knight looks to take the fight to the ground but she can’t get Kozlov to budge and instead decides to pull guard. Kozlov finds himself on the receiving end of some big strikes from the bottom by Gracyn as she keeps him controlled in closed guard. The two continue to work, with Gracyn looking for opportunities to drive some blows home to Kozlov’s ribs, and with Andrei constantly looking to improve his position. As the round draws near its end, it appears as though Gracyn might be gassing out. But the fans continue to cheer her on as Kozlov frees his leg and gets to half guard just as the buzzer sounded, bringing the round to an end. It was a close one and surely both corners will be encouraging their fighters to keep pressing the action in the next round.]

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[Right off the bat as the second round begins, Gracyn looks for a sweep single and brings Kozlov down to the mat but the action almost immediately stalls out and the two are stood right back up. With the crowd chanting her name, Knight looks for single leg takedown but Andrei manages to shrug it off. As she stands back up, Kozlov catches her with a punch that just grazes her cheek. Briefly they tie up but Gracyn shoots in for a double leg and lifts her opponent up high in the air, shifting her weight, and then slamming him down to the canvas. Oh that had to hurt and the crowd is loving every second of it. With ease Gracyn passes to half guard and the two again continue to grind things out on the mat.]

[After being a little sloppy, Knight is caught in full guard and Kozlov manages to switch to high guard, looking to sink in a triangle. It’s not looking good! Gracyn’s face is turning bright red from the choke but she just manages to slip her head free from the choke at the last moment. From closed guard she looks to posture up but Kozlov stifles it. Knight tries to improve her position on the ground as she sits on her knees and tries to break the closed guard. Kozlov leans and gets Gracyn Knight's arms as he brings her to the ground again. Kozlov is trying to counter now and reaches under and rolls for a kneebar! Knight blocks the attempt and quickly seizes half guard before things stall out again and Jordan Ripley stands the two back up once more.]

[Knight launches a stiff jab as the action resumes but Kozlov ducks under and looks to counter but it comes to no avail. Still, he continues to show good movement as he bobs and weaves and avoids the jabs that Gracyn throws his way. Unfortunately his counter punches don’t find their marks either.  Gracyn Knight fakes a punch and launches herself over Andrei Kozlov. Kozlov counters with a few fake punches and then backpedals but Knight keeps the pressure on and looks for a sweep single, taking him down to the mat again. Her elbows find their mark as she begins to unload again, looking to finish the fight but Kozlov continues to be able to control her with his closed guard. From the bottom he looks for a triangle but Gracyn slips free only for Andrei to turn his hips and switch to an armbar, throwing everything he possibly can from the bottom in Gracyn’s direction. She manages to slip out and backs away to avoid danger, giving Kozlov a moment to get back to his feet as well.]

[Back to the ground things go again as Knight hits another single leg takedown, landing in side control as she does so. When Kozlov moves Knight throws an elbow that he blocks with his forearms. She looks to pass to full mount but Kozlov doesn’t let it happen. Instead, Andrei takes advantage of her overcommitment and traps her back in full guard. The crowd grows restless looking to see more than high level ground work but Gracyn continues to grind away, freeing her leg and getting half guard but it’s forcing her to expend a lot of energy and that is showing once more as the round wears on. Another triangle attempt comes from Kozlov but Gracyn breaks free. And again the action stalls with the two fighters being stood back up.]

[When things resume Gracyn looks to clinch and Kozlov looks to avoid it. But Knight gets the upper hand and after some steady grappling she drops down, shoots in, and hits another double leg takedown. It rattles Kozlov and Gracyn looks to finish the fight once more with a big elbow that connects and bounces his head off the mat. Kozlov retaliates with some big hammer fists to Gracyn’s ribs that force her to defend. The two continue to work on the ground and with just a few moments left in the round Gracyn uncorks another massive elbow that dazes Kozlov but before she can connect with another the buzzer sounds and she’s pulled off and sent back to her corner. The Dublin crowd is buzzing again, knowing if she had only had a few more moments the fight likely would have been finished right then.]

=========================================

ROUND THREE

=========================================

[As the third begins, Gracyn presses the action and gets Kozlov in double underhooks, a position he doesn’t want to be in but she manages to maintain control. She throws some knees to his thighs which trouble him and keep him from continuing to try and break free. A perfectly executed knee tap puts Kozlov on the ground again and Knight doesn’t waste any time. Over and over she tries to open up Kozlov’s defense by punching him in the side of the head. When he tries to move on the ground he leaves himself open for a big elbow from Gracyn and she does not miss. It rocks his head off the mat and loosens his grip from closed guard and that’s all the opportunity she needs to posture up. Bam! Another big elbow. And then another and it’s all over. Jordan Ripley jumps in between the fighters and stops the punishment for Kozlov, who has a nasty laceration on his forehead as Gracyn Knight is pulled off to celebrate with her corner.]
