[The opening montage comes to a close and the feed transitions inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 16,000 fans pack the building, where many have immersed themselves into the pandemonium and roar out with deafening cheers. With the uncertainty of victory or defeat looming, the aura is both intoxicating and tense.]

[The main stage, where the fighters scheduled tonight dawn their presence, is littered with carnage and destruction. A heavy fog sits stale, scaffolding strung in multiple directions, and the overall structure glowing red with fire, ash, and embers; something no fighter will soon forget.]

[The toll on both fan and fighter is enormous. The stage of a bloody war is set. The conquerors envision nothing but execution towards success, while the meek is flooded with doubt.]

[Down in the trenches, former 2 time CGFC Dragon Champion Jason Jackson and the Irish icon Carrick Price stand cageside in attention to officially kick off the night.]

JASON JACKSON

Ladies and gentlemen, we are live exclusively on the Battleground Network here at the T-Mobile Arena in Fabulous Las Vegas for the final event of 2019, UGP 17! I’m Jason Jackson and alongside me is a man who needs no introduction, Carrick Price. Tonight we wrap up the year with a card loaded to the gills with good fights, three of which are for UGP gold, baby! . But before we get to those, let's breakdown the undercard. In our opening bout, we will see the number two ranked Bantamweight and our former teammate Lena Lyons take on Yasmine Vermeulen who moves down a weight class for this fight. From what I have heard from Union GP President Dante Reed, this was an easy fight to make and it's between two young prospects who have a very bright future ahead of them.

CARRICK PRICE

After Vermeulen’s debut loss, she took to social media and basically issued an open challenge. She then targeted Lena Lyons who just came off a loss against Dallas Meechan, and just like that, the fight was made. Sometimes that’s what you need to keep yourself in the mix, too. Just talk shite and see where it gets you. It can be dangerous but I'm interested to see how Yasmine does at 135, as I think this is a better fit for her. She didn't have to cut a lot of weight, which you and I both know sucks but is worse when you’ve got to make a big cut. And just in general she seems to be a better fit here. If she can secure a win over Lena’s ugly ass, she should seriously consider making the move permanent. On the flip side, if Lyons can rebound here against a bigger opponent, you'd have to believe that she gets herself back into that title shot discussion. It's a big matchup with a lot of big potential for the future.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on with Lena but she looked a bit off in her last fight out. She’s gotta get it turned around and get herself back into the win column so she can start building up some momentum. Yasmine is going to do her best to put a stop to that. Next up, we have a Cruiserweight bout where we see a rematch between Seth Daniels and Jakko Wirman. These guys are ranked number two and three, respectively, and you have to think whoever walks out of this one victorious is next in line for a title shot.

CARRICK PRICE

Unless we see some sort of controversy in our main event that would warrant a fourth matchup, I agree this is a fight for the next contender. Though you might say, in Daniels case, he’s had plenty of chances to make the cruiserweight championship his own, as he is no stranger to big fights. But what he does seem to be a bit of a stranger to is winning big fights. It’s an interesting matchup, given that Daniels won the first contest between the two at Boss Fight VIII, snapping a three-fight losing skid. Two of those three consecutive losses came at the hands of current Cruiserweight Champion Daniel Fisk, so you know he's got that in the back of his mind. And as it stands, Daniels is 1-1 against Robinson and would love to get that trilogy fight. But sometimes desire and reality aren’t two things that go hand in hand. Beyond that, Jakko Wirman is a much different competitor since their first encounter. He's been competing quite regularly in Japan with G2, and he too has some history with current Cruiserweight Champion and campmate Daniel Fisk. His last fight in Union GP was a first round TKO loss to Fisk and has another loss against him in G2. With those chances at revenge, both of these guys are surely ready to leave it all out there. Though, in Jakko’s case, you have to wonder if the heavy schedule will take its toll. He’ll say it won’t. Take it from someone who spent most of their career fighting a heavy schedule. You’ll never admit to it, but it does wear you down over time.

JASON JACKSON

We all say it won’t, but it does. The body needs time to rest and recover. Jakko is a beast, and he’s got all the tools to walk away as the number one contender here… I just hope he hasn’t ran himself ragged. It’s easy to do in this sport. Moving on, in our final non-title fight of the evening, the number one ranked Middleweight Aries Reed is set to take on number two ranked Byron McCall. You know… you have to wonder if these guys come into their fight tonight with a chip on their shoulders, having been overlooked at a rematch with Robert Guilliman in favor of third ranked Asher Jrue. Again, this one here has to be a contender’s bout. Both are great fighters, both I’ve trained with and spent a lot of time with over the course of their career. I tell you… this could either be fight of the night or knockout of the night with ease. Don’t blink. That’s all I’ve got to say.

CARRICK PRICE

You're right JJ, these are two of the most seasoned guys not just in this division, but the industry as a whole. Both have over twenty fights on their resume, and both are still hunting for Union gold. Whoever walks out of this one will definitely make a strong case as ”next in line” for a title shot. The question is, does any sane person actually want to be the next in line to eat one of Guilly’s head kicks?

JASON JACKSON

I hear Zion Momo’a has been asking for a rematch, so there’s a crazy sumbitch out there somewhere who wants to be next in line! But to continue on with the Middleweight Title discussion, in our first feature title fight we will see “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman himself look to tie the record for most successful title defenses as he takes on a young prospect that has been turning heads like no other in “Simba” Asher Jrue.

CARRICK PRICE

Listen, Robert Guilliman is the oldest competitor to win a championship here in Union GP, but if you look at his tape, you wouldn’t believe it. His last loss came in 2018, and since then, he avenged that loss and has been steamrolling the competition. He was the only champion to carry their title all through the 2019 Grand Prix from start to finish, and has done it against the best in the business. Cristian Bonanno, Byron McCall, Aries Reed and more. But tonight he faces a young man that has put on some very impressive performances since debuting at Boss Fight XI with a year end award nominating Flying Omoplata. We’ve seen he can compete at an elite level in all phases of the fight game, but the biggest question for him is if he can avoid that notorious signature head kick that has made Guilliman a household name.

JASON JACKSON

Then in our Co-Main Event of the evening, Carrick, it's your protege, the ScrapYard ambassador, the Lightweight Champion Delaney Donovan putting his title on the line in a rematch against former Lightweight Champion Natalie King. Many people have proclaimed their first contest as the greatest fight in Union Grand Prix’s young history in which it went five full rounds that resulted in Delaney having his hand raised in a split decision victory. This one is SURE to be a barn burner as well.

CARRICK PRICE

Not only did Double D score the win to earn the title, but he was also awarded as the winner of the 2019 Championship Grand Prix, which the 155 pound division was the biggest field in the entire company. No small feat there. But you cannot deny what The Bandit has accomplished in her Union tenure. Similar to that of Robert Guilliman, King quickly built a reputation as a headhunter, destroying her competition in short order. With her championship reign lasting a mere eighteen days, you know she’s focused and hungry to get it back. This matchup here I believe will steal the show and earn the Fight of the Night honors.

JASON JACKSON

It’s undoubtedly two of the very best in the deepest division running it back, what more could you ask for? I’ll answer that question with tonight’s Main Event. It’s the trilogy bout between two Real Killas. Cruiserweight Champion “.44” Daniel Fisk Junior is set to take on his camp mate “The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson. This whole thing started one year ago today, where Roscoe shocked the world and scored a second round knockout to become the second Cruiserweight Champion at the Barclays Center for UGP 6. Roscoe would then go on a record setting five title defenses before the two would meet again in the finals of the 2019 Championship Grand Prix in Madison Square Garden for UGP 15. It was there that Fisk reclaimed the title with those lethal hands in under a minute and a half. It’s tied up 1-1 and we’re about to settle the score once and for all.

CARRICK PRICE

Both of these men have pretty much ran through the Cruiserweight Division, leaving no doubt that we are going to see the two very best at 225 pounds. Both of these guys have incredible knockout power, Fisk with his hands and Roscoe with his kicks, I have a hard time believing this one goes the distance. But there's so much at stake here, we're going to see wills being tested. One thing that comes to mind in the aftermath of this fight, where do either of these guys go from here? If Fisk retains, what does the future hold for The Shooter? Could we see a move to Middleweight perhaps? And what are the possibilities for Fisk if Roscoe reclaims the gold? Could he make a move up to Heavyweight? Could he focus more on his Japanese commitments in G2, or even concentrate on further developing his boxing career? There's a lot of unknowns right now, but we will soon have the answers later tonight.

JASON JACKSON

So with that, let's turn it over to our very own hype man Mike Dempsey standing inside the octagon awaiting for the action. It's bout time folks!

UGP17_Lyons-vs-Vermeulen.png

WHEN IT'S COLD, WE BITE THE TOP OF OUR ZIPS

PULL IT UP WITH OUR TEETH 'TIL IT COVERS OUR LIPS

THEN EXHALE; CENTRAL HEATING FOR THE WEATHER BEATEN

NO FEET ARE BEATING, THIS STREET IN TO STAND BY US LIKE WIL WHEATON

[The buzzing guitar riff from "Let 'em Come" by Scroobius Pip hits the PA system as the arena lights dim down. A lone spotlight shines on the main stage as Yasmine Vermeulen steps out from the curtain. The crowd begins to rave as she never breaks stride on her way down the aisle way with her corner crew following close behind. She dons her black and red walkout gear with the hood just barely revealing the look of total focus on the cage ahead of her.]

JASON JACKSON

The New girl on the block still searching for her first win but she sure as shit ain’t looking to earn that win by fighting tomato cans. That much was clear when she issued the call out to Thugga herself.

CARRICK PRICE

Not a whole lot is known about what Yasmine Vermeulen’s ceiling is talent wise. Things didn’t exactly go her way in her first go of things, but tonight she gets a fight that she, essentially, willed into existence and it’s one that she needs to win. It’s all fun and games making the challenge, but if you can’t back it up it can severely damage your reputation and your future prospects.

[Vermeulen finally makes it to cageside where she begins to peel off her warm-ups. She hands them off and takes a quick swig of water from one of the cornermen before turning to the fight official to be inspected. Once she's been cleared, she turns back to her crew and gives each one a brief but meaningful hug and then races up the steps. Once she's inside the octagon, Yasmine jogs a few laps around the perimeter before posting up in her corner and waits for her opponent.]

OH Y'ALL NIGGAS KILLER NOW, OH WORD?

CATCH YOU COMIN OUT YOUR FUCKIN CRIB NIGGA

YEAH, CATCH A FUCKIN BULLET NIGGA

[The opening lines of Prodigy's "Keep It Thoro" ring out around the arena before the beat kicks in and Lena Lyons begins to make her way down towards the cage, lowkey bobbing her head to the beat, clearly feeling the music as her corner follows on behind her.]

CARRICK PRICE

Lets go Lena! Big ass blockhead! You better make shite up this fight after the way your last fight went.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, sadly she’s been having trouble finding her footing here in UGP. I don’t know if she had too long of a layoff or if she has things in her personal life that are distracting her but she really hasn’t been the same fighter for a good long while now. I’m hoping she can turn things around and get a win here tonight.

[Thugga reaches cageside, flashing a shaka at the camera before hugging several members of her team, exchanging a few words before having the customary vaseline applied to her eyebrows and facial area by the cutman. Lyons then turns to face the referee, who checks her over, making sure her mouth guard is in before sending her up into the cage. Once in the cage Lena performs a quick lap of the cage, jogging around it before being pointed to her corner, where she talks to herself for a little while as she leans back against the cage, ready to fight.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, we are live exclusively on the Battleground Network here at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for UGP 17! And now, this opening contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Bantamweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Muay Thai Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 0-1. She stands 5’5” and weighing in at 135 pounds. She is from Antwerp, Belgium, fighting out of R-Grip MMA, she is Yasmine Vermeulen!

[Vermeulen looks like she has been waiting for this fight forever as she bounces in place and gets herself psyched up.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And her opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 11-8. She stands 5’4” and weighing in at 125 pounds. She is from Queens, New York, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, she is Lena ”Thugga” Lyons!

[A ferocious staredown is given by Lyons while Jordan Ripley recites the rules.]

CARRICK PRICE

Christ she’s ugly. But a damn good fighter in the ring.

JASON JACKSON

She used to be less ugly and then they made us fight each other. I thought when she had plastic surgery that she would come out looking like a kardashian but nope! Haha let’s take it down to referee Jordan Ripley to start the bout.

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The opening bell sounds and Lena Lyons and Yasmine Vermeulen touch gloves in the center to get this fight started. Both fighters waste no time and engage in a wild exchange of punches! Both fighters are connecting with solid shots and this could be ending soon if either one lands a lucky punch. The crowd roars with excitement as they continue trading blows, but now without much steam behind them. Both fighters back off just moments before stepping back in to trade a series of punches.]

[Vermeulen fakes a body shot and then launches herself over Lyons to trap her in a troublesome Thai clinch. Lena isn't interested in working in the clinch so she tries to duck under Yasmine and move away. However, Yasmine pushes Lena forward and doesn't allow her to break free. Vermeulen launches a few stiff punches to the ribs as Lyons struggles to protect herself. Vermeulen tries to bring Lyons down to the mat, but she stumbles back on her heels to stay upright. Yasmine delivers and few solid punches and one big swinging uppercut connects hard to Lyons' jaw!]

CARRICK PRICE

Damn it, Lena, defend those fucking body blows you know better than this. Fucks sake.

JASON JACKSON

Those body shots are enough to slowly siphon the gas out of anyone’s tank

[Thugga tries to cover up her face, but Yasmine switches it up and lands multiple well-placed knees to the ribs! Yasmine tries to finish it off with a jumping knee to the face, but Lena swivels her head away just in the nick of time to avoid the crushing blow and counters with a piercing elbow to the temple! Yasmine stumbles back on her heels and Lena breaks free from the clinch.]

CARRICK PRICE

Yes! There we go! Thugga’s got some of the nastiest elbows the world has ever seen and the look on Yasmine’s face says she wants nothing to do with experiencing another one of them.

[Vermeulen shakes off the stinging elbow and nods her head toward Lena to acknowledge the good shot before slowly closing back in to look for angles on her opponent. Yasmine throws a few jabs to calculate her range but gets countered with a rapid flurry of punches by Lena. Vermeulen moves back now and takes a deep breath to regroup. Vermeulen darts back in, targeting the body and punishes Lena’s ribs with a couple of heavy hooks. Yasmine tries to catch Lena off guard, finishing the body combo with a high kick, but it just narrowly glances off Lyons.]

JASON JACKSON

Back to the body and that opens up those shots to the head there. Yasmine is fighting smart as hell here.

[Yasmine Vermeulen backs away to avoid any counter strikes before circling back around Lyons. A lightning-fast low kick from Vermeulen connects on the thigh with a loud smack that echoed through the arena! Yasmine follows it up with a brutal inside leg kick and it looks like Lena Lyons has hyper-extended her knee!]

CARRICK PRICE

Fucking hell. What a vicious kick that was. My own fuckin’ knee is hurting now. That could easily sway the fight in Vermeulen’s favor if it did any significant damage. J, you ever had to fight hurt? And not like sore, hurt. But hurt, hurt.

JASON JACKSON

Yep. I think all of us have to at some point. I broke my hand mid fight and had to adjust and find some way to stay in the fight. I ended up using my elbow instead. It’s bound to happen to everyone at some point or another. It’s about how you handle it and if you can adapt and overcome.

[Lena buckles for just a moment and Vermeulen rushes in as she senses the vulnerability. Yasmine launches a few jabs but Lena swiftly holds her own with some counter punches. Vermeulen eats the shots but presses on and continues to throw jabs to eventually get the best of a brief punching exchange. Both fighters eventually back off to regroup and the crowd roars with excitement.]

[Lena tries to go on the offensive, but every time she attempts to get inside, Yasmine fires a low kick to that injured knee. Vermeulen sees an opening, she fakes a punch and launches herself over Lyons. She gets in a clinch and pushes Lyons against the cage and now looks to calm down the action. Neither fighter makes any advances in the clinch, so referee Jordan Ripley decides to separate the fighters and resets them back in the center.]

[Vermeulen studies her opponent looking for a hole in her defense. She throws a few jabs but gets countered by a quick combo from Lena Lyons. Yasmine goes with a big looping right hand while Lena jumps back and jabs. Lyons eats the punch and looks staggered and Yasmine Vermeulen runs in to capitalize with a bunch of jabs and crosses. Yasmine caps off the combo with a bone-shattering straight right hand and Thugga might be in trouble! Lena tries to circle out of danger, but Yasmine walks her down with a brilliant combination that forces Lyons to try and defend better.]

CARRICK PRICE

You can see that knee is really bothering Lena Lyon’s. She doesn’t have the same freedom and smoothness of movement we’re used to seeing out of her right now and she definitely doesn’t seem to be able to put any space between her and Yasmine. She’s just gotta weather the storm and get to the end of the round.

JASON JACKSON

To be honest with you man it reminds me of when I blew out my meniscus mid fight. It’s either that or a patella issue. Either way it’s going to be hard to fight through this and pull off the win.

[Vermeulen goes to the body and punishes Lyons' ribs with a couple of hooks. The two step into each other and exchange wildly. Both are landing uncontested punches but they’re without much steam behind them. Vermeulen switches gears and fires off a series of devastating low kicks that punishes Lyons' legs repeatedly! She then launches a textbook front kick and Lyons stumbles back and looks wobbly! Vermeulen winds back and delivers another crushing low kick to the already injured knee and Lena Lyons' left knee cap just popped! Lyons collapses to the mat on her own weight and it doesn't look like she can continue to fight on it! Jordan Ripley has seen enough! He rushes in to stop Vermeulen and this fight is over!]

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, that’s it man. Her knee just gave out completely there. I hate seeing a fight end like that, especially to someone like Lena.

CARRICK PRICE

Man fuck this, I’ll be right back.

[There’s a sound of a commentators headset being tossed down onto a table and a wide camera shot catches Carrick moving over near Lena Lyon’s corner. The crowd almost unanimously gasps with shock and anguish as Lena lies on the mat, curled up and holding her knee. Vermeulen is overcome with excitement and she races toward her corner to climb up the cage and perch on top to celebrate with her coaches. The medical staff tends to Lyons for a while before finally helping her up to her feet. Lena has to be assisted by her coaches and doctors to the center of the octagon while Yasmine is already there waiting for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Jordan Ripley has called for a stop in this fight at four minutes and thirty-three seconds in the very first round, for your winner by technical knockout, Yasmine Vermeulen!

[The crowd cheers in respect as Yasmine Vermeulen has her hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands and give a quick hug as a gesture of mutual respect. Just before splitting off to each one’s corner, you can see Yasmine telling Lena ”Let’s run it back”. A graphic pops up on the screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[The camera cuts backstage to the trainers room as Dylan Carter stands by.]

DYLAN CARTER

Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time, fresh off his win in the early prelims, “The Punisher” Michael Santos!

[Mike is shown getting a last once over from the trainers, before giving his full focus to Dylan.]

DYLAN CARTER

Usually you seem to favour standing up and throwing bombs in your fights, but we saw an almost devotion to the ground game in your fight earlier tonight. Did your loss to Arden Kelly in Ireland perhaps affect this change of tactic?

MICHAEL SANTOS

Yes and no. If you are asking if I let the loss effect me in the manor of changing how I fight, then no. However, while I am new to MMA I have been fighting for a long time, and I know that learning from a loss is extremely important. Any of those punches I threw at Arden could have knocked him out cold, but they don’t matter if they can’t connect. And on the ground I was completely outclassed and he had me before I even knew what was going on. It gave me things to work on, and apply to my fight against Ian. The dude is a walking brick, and keeping the fight on the feet only invites him to be able to slip my shots. I’ve been working heavily on my ground game and I knew if I could pin him down it wouldn’t matter how hard his chin was, i’d keep smashing it until it gave out, and that’s exactly what happened.

DYLAN CARTER

It certainly was quite a turnaround, that’s for sure. So having ended the year on a high, what is your goal going into 2020?

MICHAEL SANTOS

Well the ultimate goal is the same as any fighter. The Championship, being known as the best fighter in your weight class. Immediately however, I will keep fighting, and learning. A rematch with Arden down the line is something i’d like for sure, but other than that, I’ll keep fighting. Its what I do.

DYLAN CARTER

And we look forward to seeing you do more of it. Thank you for your time Mr. Santos.

[Michael nods as the camera cuts away.]

UGP17_Daniels-vs-Wirman.png

CAN’T YOU SEE I’M EASILY BOTHERED BY PERSISTENCE

ONE STEP FROM LASHING OUT AT YOU

YOU WANT IN TO GET UNDER MY SKIN

AND CALL YOURSELF A FRIEND

I’VE GOT MORE FRIENDS LIKE YOU

WHAT DO I DO?

[“Walk” by Pantera shreds over the loudspeaker and “The Reaver” Jakko Wirman emerges to the stage wearing his blue and black walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Wirman has a focused stare in his eyes as he begins to make his way down the aisle.]

JASON JACKSON

RE-SPECT….WALK!!! WHADDAYASAY?! Aye! Pantera! Jakko has to win on principal now! But seriously though this guy is a hoss. He’s boasting a 6-4 record and usually all of his fights carry the same ambiance about them. Knockout. He’s either on the delivering end, or the receiving end, but he’s not afraid to go out on his shield and trade hammers with people out there. That much is for certain. He’s got monster kicks and a very underrated Sambo background that can plant you on your back before you know what happened.

CARRICK PRICE

Wish they’d have a camera crew follow this lad around every day of his life. Guy kills me when he tweets, you know? Sounds like that lad from that one Rocky movie. Big ass Russian dude. I can’t remember his name. Igor or some shite. Anyway, love watching Jakko fight. He never disappoints win or lose.

JASON JACKSON

Ha! Fuckin Igor, man.

[Wirman makes it to cageside where he is inspected by the fight official to ensure he is fit to fight and legal for action. Once cleared, he climbs up the steps and calmly takes his place in his corner.]

LIGHTS OUT

YOU’RE TALKING TOO LOUD

SO JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH

WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU NOW

[“Lights Out” by Hollywood Undead blares over the loudspeaker and Seth Daniels pops out of the curtain and onto the stage wearing his green and black walkout fight kit with his crew following behind. As Daniels walks down the ramp, his villainous behavior is gone, only showing a stern and focused look.]

JASON JACKSON

The Throne fighter makes the walk here and he looks laser focused Carrick. You know, these two are pretty similar stylistically. Both kick like a fucking horse and both are pretty capable when it comes to holding their own in a grappling exchange. Daniels is 4-4 and coming in off a body kick TKO over Lake Reese. Do you think he has what it takes to stop the absolute tank that is Jakko Wirman?

CARRICK PRICE

On paper you’d think that Seth Daniels would be the better fighter. He’s more experienced in combat sports. He’s fought in bigger fights, in my opinion. But it’s in those big fights where I think his weakness really shows and it’s not in the physical side of his game, but the mental side. These big time fights with a lot on the line seem to rattle him, and he’s yet to really capture a decisive victory in a bout with something on the line. Does he have what it takes? Sure. Will he make it happen though? I doubt it. My money would one thousand percent be on Jakko tonight if I was betting.

[Daniels makes it to cageside where he is inspected by the fight official to ensure he is fit to fight and legal for action. Once cleared, he climbs up the steps and takes his place in his corner.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Sambo fighter holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 6-4. He stands 6’4” and weighing in at 225 pounds. He is from Helsinki, Finland, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is “The Reaver” Jakko Wirman!

[Jakko Wirman looks like he has been waiting for this fight forever.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a kick boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 4-4. He stands He stands 6’2” and weighing in at 225 pounds. He is from Phoenix, Arizona, fighting out of Throne MMA, he is “Your Drug of Choice” Seth Daniels!

[Seth Daniels looks like he has been waiting for this fight forever.]

CARRICK PRICE

Man, both of these men look like they’ve been waiting for this fight forever. I’m ready. Are you ready, J?

JASON JACKSON

Oh I’m ready and more importantly than that these fans are ready! Let’s turn it over to the referee of the bout, Herschel Warden.

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The two men touch gloves in the centre of the cage before measuring each other. Daniels decides to launch some tentative punches, leading into a brief punching exchange which he gets the best of, connecting with an uppercut to the body. Wirman is incensed as instead of falling back he stands his ground, the two men exchanging wild punches, but both of them managing to avoid any major damage. Jakko goes for a hard hook to the body but Daniels steps back to dodge it, right into range for a vicious high kick, but Daniel’s brings his arm up to block that decapitating shot just in time!]

CARRICK PRICE

Jesus, that didn’t look like it felt good. Imagine if he hadn’t blocked it? Seth’s head might be sitting in the fourth row. Fucks sake.

[Seth takes a second to shake the pain from his arm before moving forward quickly to close the distance, grabbing Jakko’s left leg as he tries for a takedown. Jakko manages to keep his footing, pushing Daniels away, before throwing another high kick the moment his foot hits the ground, keeping Daniels at bay. The two men measure each other again before Seth tries to cripple Jakko with a series of leg kicks, but he manages to defend them without too much trouble. As Jakko raises his leg to check the last leg kick, Daniels closes the gap again, once again looking for that takedown, but again Jakko keeps his balance and shoves Seth off. This time however, Seth was expecting the counter, firing a kick right into Wirman’s liver, but he manages to get his arm down to block as the kick connects! Jakko winces as the kick connects, but fights through the pain as he fakes a punch before shooting for a takedown, catching Daniels completely off guard and putting him on his back!]

JASON JACKSON

See man, absolute tank. He eats your kick like the fucking juggernaut and charges forward to put you on your back. Beautiful takedown by Jakko Wirman.

CARRICK PRICE

Like a fuckin’ bull. Jakko Crush!

[Jakko Wirman is in open guard over Daniels who immediately throw a hammer punch to Wirman's ribs as he tries to improve his position, forcing Jakko to protect himself and stay in open guard. Both men suck in breaths before Jakko makes his move, looking to move to full mount, but Seth manages to stop the attempt. Jakko fakes another attempt for full guard, and when Seth moves to block it he grabs his leg and tries for a kneebar! Seth is struggling as Jakko works to lock it in, but Daniels manages to roll on the ground before throwing a few kick Jakko’s way with his free leg, forcing him to break the hold. The two men continue to jockey for position before Herschel Warden halts the fight to stand up both men.]

CARRICK PRICE

Good defense there by Daniels to defend that kneebar and a little hasty on the decision to stand the two men back up by Herschel Warden. But, then, I never seem to agree too much with the way he officiates his fights.

[Both fighters continue the fight on their feet as Jakko engages and connects with a solid kick to the leg that visibly pains Daniels. Jakko capitalises as he shoots for the takedown, bringing Seth down onto his back. He wastes no time as he looks to finish the fight with a leglock, but Daniels is able to break the lock before successfully closing his guard around Wirman. He tries to escape from closed guard but Daniels waits for the moment and tries to roll! Too late for Jakko Wirman! He is reversed and now Seth Daniels is in half guard! Seth tries to free his leg but as he does Jakko manages to move fast and force himself back to his knees, both men trading blows while they climb to their feet. Daniels looks for angles as he throws a few jabs that are countered by Jakko Wirman's punches, but Seth is not to be outdone as he answers by putting Wirman on the receiving end of a great combo. Wirman fakes a punch and shoots a takedown which catches Seth Daniels off guard puts him on the ground!]

JASON JACKSON

Up and back down. I’m really impressed by the grappling exchange we’re seeing here though. I think this is a great matchup to showcase both of these fellas ability to roll.

[Jakko Wirman is in open guard over Daniels again rushing for the submission as he tries a kneebar! However, Daniels again is able to escape danger by rolling on the ground and kicking his way out. Both men rush back to their feet before Daniels throws a great spinning back kick, nailing Wirman in the floating rib, the shot sending him stumbling back a step. Daniels thinks better of following up his he sucks in deep breaths instead, keeping Jakko at distance. Daniels looks for angles as he throws a few jabs that are countered by Jakko Wirman's punches, but Seth’s head movement is on point as he dodges the punches, both men then swinging for the fences before the buzzer sounds and the referee steps in to separate the fighters.]

JASON JACKSON

Great first round from both guys here. Both had their spots where they shone bright so it’s a little hard to call. I’m going to go with 10-9 Wirman. He’s made the takedowns look easy and he’s pretty much pushing the pace, controlling the pace, and walking through these shots here. What do you think?

CARRICK PRICE

Yeah, I would agree. Seth had some nice moments but I really just felt like Jakko was the more aggressive and active fighter. In a close round that counts and I think the judges will see it the same way as you and I, J.

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The round starts as both men move in, Daniels steps in and fakes a punch before shooting in a great double leg, lifting Jakko up and slamming him on the ground! Daniels is looking to finish the fight from open guard as he drops precise elbows on Wirman’s face! One, two, three! Wirman's being punished here! Jakko desperately tries to close his guard to stop the onslaught, and manages to do so and continue this fight! Jakko is clearly not panicked as he slides his legs high and tries to apply a triangle! He tries to lock his legs but Seth cuts to the side and manages to pass to side mount! Daniels shifts to north-south position and tries to finish with a choke! Wirman just manages to get his fingers under Seth’s arm so he can’t lock it in fully, before managing to break the hold and rushing in, putting Seth on his back as Wirman goes into closed guard! Daniels tries to roll on the ground but Jakko Wirman uses his leg to keep his position. Wirman tries to improve his position on the ground as he sits on his knees and tries to break the closed guard, but Daniels leans and gets Jakko's arms as he brings him to the ground again. Daniels moves to high guard and tries to close an armbar, but Wirman breaks the lock before trying to escape from closed guard. Daniels waits for the moment and tries to roll! Too late for Jakko Wirman! He is reversed and now Seth Daniels is in half guard! Seth tries to better his position but Jakko gets him back in closed guard. Neither man manages to do much from this position and Herschel Warden stands the fighters up due to a lack of activity.]

JASON JACKSON

No complaint there. Action had seemed to stall out there in the closed guard, so I think standing them up was the right call. Nice slam and brutal elbows from Daniels though. I thought he might close the deal there for a moment.

CARRICK PRICE

It’s nice to see Warden let guys do their work on the ground for once. As someone who really made his living there, there’s nothing worse than having to deal with an official who will stand you up just for taking a moment to breathe.

[Both fighters are back on their feet before Wirman throws a lightning fast low kick! Loud pop! I'm sure that hurts! Daniels grits his teeth through the pain and goes for another takedown, but Jakko hops back and delivers a powerful kick to his head! Seth is rocked and Jakko tries to finish, but Seth throws a hard middle kick on the defence, nailing Wirman right below his ribs, stopping his momentum. Seth fires a solid leg kick but its checked by Seth who then step in and grabs it, managing to take Seth down! Jakko is in side control as both men take a second to rest, the breakneck pace of this fight taking the toll on both men. Jakko looks to mount Seth but he takes advantage of his opponent's over commitment and traps him in full guard.]

CARRICK PRICE

Wow! You know one of the worst feelings in the world is when your opponent catches a kick you’ve thrown and you’re just standing there at their mercy. It’s awful. But great job by Seth Daniels to use Jakko’s aggression against him after giving up another takedown.

[Wirman is in open guard over Daniels before he tries that kneebar once again! Daniels however once again has it scouted as he escapes and gets back to his feet! Daniels is standing while Wirman is on the ground on his back, but before Daniels can try anything, Jakko Wirman launches an up-kick intended for Seth Daniels's head and It lands flush with his head snapping backwards due to the impact! Seth stumbles as Jakko quickly gets back up to his feet, rushes Daniels and taking him down with a single leg!]

JASON JACKSON

OHHHHH SNAP! Nasty up kick! Did you see the way his head snapped back?! Godddddddamn son and then he charges through him again. I seriously think this guy should be called Jakko the juggernaut Wirman. Seriously.

CARRICK PRICE

He’s like that lad from Spider-Man. Rhino or whatever.

[Jakko Wirman is in open guard over Daniels before trying to pass to half guard, but Seth keeps him in full. Wirman is getting nowhere on the ground and the referee steps in to stand both fighters up. Both men are trying to suck in breaths as they measure each other. Daniels ducks under a haymaker and grabs Jakko’s left leg, getting him off balance and taking him down!]

[Seth Daniels is in side mount over Jakko Wirman who attempts to trap him in his guard but he keeps position as the buzzer sounds, marking the end of the round. The ref tells the fighters to go to their corners.]

JASON JACKSON

I got another 10-9 for Wirman. It’s a close fight and Seth is really holding his own but he’s going to have to turn it up here in the last round and look for a finish if he wants to walk away with the win here tonight.

CARRICK PRICE

He’s done well when he chooses to use Jakko’s aggressiveness against him on the ground. I think he needs to do the same standing up. All it takes is one well timed knee, or well timed jab, to bring it to an end and when someone is ass hard charging as Jakko is, the openings will be there. Seth just has to make sure he doesn’t miss.

=========================================

ROUND THREE

=========================================

[The fighters size each other up in the center of the cage before Seth Daniels fakes a move and moves laterally, following up with a nice low kick that connects clean! Wirman decides to take it back to where he has controlled the pace this fight and shoots for another takedown, and once again Seth is unable to stop himself from going down! Jakko Wirman is in open guard over Daniels who immediately slides his legs high and tries to apply a triangle! Wirman cuts to the side and manages to pass to side mount! He looks to transition to full mount but Seth scouts it and traps him back in full guard. Jakko then moves to half guard, before moving to the north-south position, looking to lock in a choke! Daniels manages to escape the choke, really showing his submission defence skills, before making his way back to his feet. Wirman gets back to his feet as well just in time to catch a stiff jab from Daniels! The shot barely hits Wirman's face but it seems like one finger has poked his eye! Referee Herschel Warden saw it and halts the fight as his corner check his eye. Jakko’s vision seems to be fine and is rearing to fight again.]

JASON JACKSON

Man the boos echoing through this building right now are wild! I can barely hear myself think. If this ref stops this fight for an eye poke I think these fans might riot Carrick.

CARRICK PRICE

No doubt. Nothing worse than a referee making themselves the star of the show. Tough break for Seth, too, as that jab caught Jakko nicely. Instead of being able to follow up and, maybe, string together a nice combo, Jakko is probably going to come back pissed off and looking to take someone’s head clean off their neck.

[The fight resumes with both fighters standing, and if the thumb to the eye affected Jakko it doesn’t show as he blasts Daniels in the jaw with a high kick! Daniels stands firm through the hit, his knees buckling slightly but recovers to counter with a solid combination of punches to Jakko’s head. Jakko leans back to dodge a massive uppercut, before taking the fight to the ground again with a one leg takedown! Jakko is in full guard as he pushes Seth Daniels against the fence and then tries to improve his position. Wirman jumps and tries to free his leg! Daniels doesn't allow this but Jakko Wirman is able to get half guard here. Daniels tries to close his guard but Jakko counters and instead manages to pass his guard, freeing his leg and moving to side mount. Deep breaths from Seth Daniels who tries a hammer punch to Wirman's ribs, who moves on the ground in order to protect himself.]

CARRICK PRICE

A little too late to be working on Wirman’s ribs. You need to be looking to finish the fight, Seth. Jesus Christ. DO SOMETHING!

[Seth tries to close his guard around Wirman, but can only manage to switch back to half guard. Jakko isolates Seth’s left arm looking for an armbar but he manages to sit up and pull his arm out of danger before flipping the positions and ending up in open guard over Wirman! Seth manages to move to half guard but Jakko manages to move him right back into closed guard. Wirman then rolls on ground reversing the position back and ending up in full mount! Wirman suddenly holds Seth Daniels's arm and tries an armbar! He almost gets his hands locked before Daniels breaks away, reversing it back once again and ending up in closed guard over Jakko! Seth tries to pass guard but Jakko manages to retain it, closing it and rolling again, ending up in full mount!]

[Wirman catch Seth Daniels's right arm and tries a kimura but Seth holds his own arm and struggles until he gets free. They both struggle on the ground further as the final buzzer sounds, the referee stepping in to seperate them!]

JASON JACKSON

What a wild fight man. They were either kicking each other, or going for a submission. I feel like this is like what happens when you fight your own character in a video game. Same styles actually made for a great fight here but I have to give all three rounds to Jakko Wirman. He’s a monster man. Unreal. His ability to absorb punishment and walk through it is mind blowing. I kind of want to crack him with a shot and see if he still walks through it or if I still got it. Either way 30-27 Wirman.

CARRICK PRICE

Calm down, old timer. You’ve given enough of your brain cells to this sport, the last thing you need is Jakko taking more of them. As for this fight, if it  goes any way other than unanimous to Wirman, someone needs to have the judges investigated. Honestly. Disappointing final round for Seth Daniels as he had to have known he needed to finish the fight, but didn’t ever really seem like he was looking for it.

[The crowd explodes into cheers at the end of an action packed 3 rounds. After doctors and cut men finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, after three rounds, we go to the judges scorecards. All three judges score it 30-26 for your winner by Unanimous Decision, ”The Reaver” Jakko Wirman!

[The crowd cheers once again as Wirman has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[We cut to Dylan Carter at cageside. A red-faced Cal McCluskey is behind her, getting rowdy with fans as he splashes some of his beer. McCluskey has a dumb smile on his face as he creeps behind Carter and pretends to hump her.]

DYLAN CARTER

I'm standing here with with Cal McCluskey.

[Carter looks behind to see where he's at, missing his humping motions just by a second. She steps to her right so McCluskey can get in the shot.]

DYLAN CARTER

We haven't seen you in Union Grand Prix since your loss to Michael Santos at Boss Fight XIII back in September. You fought twice in G2 MMA since then and lost both times. The last loss seems to have sparked something in you, Cal, and you told everyone you have something to say tonight. What's on your mind?

[The camera zooms on McCluskey, making his sweaty face more apparent.]

CAL McCLUSKEY

I fuckin' worked my fuckin' ass off in my last fight. I never done a pro fight that long 'n' shit 'n' I still lost. Got so tired, thought I was gonna shit my fuckin' pants back there in Japan. I didn't even give up. Lil' fuckin' Asian guy got me in a damn hold 'n' the other lil' Asian guy – fuckin' referee – he like, fuckin' stopped the fight 'n' shit. 'N' I was all like, “Fuck you.” 'N' he was all like, sayin' some shit in Chinese or whatever the fuck. It was fuckin' bullshit. But that loss hurt. I ain't gonna lie. That loss fuckin' hurt. But you know what? You know what I'm gonna fuckin' do?!

[McCluskey chugs the rest of his beer. Fans cheer behind him as some of the beer gets out and runs down his chin. He then slams the plastic cup to the floor. McCluskey wipes his mouth with the inside of his shirt, but still has beer dripping off his chin.]

CAL McCLUSKEY

I'm trainin' harder! I'm gettin' like my fuckin' cardio better 'n' shit! 'Cuz I don't wanna almost shit my pants in the ring or cage or fuckin' whatever! 'N' I was fuckin' this bitch recently 'n' almost had a fuckin' heart attack! That shit sucked! But I'm already workin'! I order Diet Coke now! I drove by Wendy's the other day and had a fuckin' Subway! Didn't get a salad at Mickey D's 'cuz I ain't a fuckin' vegan pussy. I ain't goin' that far. But I'm changin' everything 'n' shit! I'm goin' into next year a new man! With a new body! All healthier 'n' shit! Because I'm puttin' everything on the fuckin' line! You have my word, everybody... Listen up, bitches. If I don't win a championship – 'n' I'm talkin' like an MMA one and not some fake wrestler bullshit – if I don't win a championship by the end of 2020, I'm gonna fuckin' retire!

[Fans cheer.]

DYLAN CARTER

Cal, you're currently 1-8 in your professional career. What do you have to say to those who think your goal of winning a championship next year is, well, a bit lofty?

CAL McCLUSKEY

A bit what?! Look! I don't give a fuck what anybody says. 'Cuz I'm gonna fight like fuckin' hell to be an MMA champion next year. 'N' I'm gonna start by turnin' 'n' leavin' in Tokyo on December 29 in this fuckin' bare-knuckle boxin' fight.

DYLAN CARTER

Turning and leaving?

CAL McCLUSKEY

Yeah, like when you, like, start over or some shit.

DYLAN CARTER

Your fight against Ryota Sakaguchi in G2 is your first professional bare-knuckle boxing fight. What are you doing or thinking differently compared to when you're going into an MMA fight?

CAL McCLUSKEY

Just gonna, like, punch his fuckin' face until he's fuckin dead 'n' shit!

DYLAN CARTER

That's Cal McCluskey, everyone!

CAL McCLUSKEY

So baby, are you down to fu–?!

[We cut away from cageside and cut the microphone off as well.]

NOW YOUR HEROES HAVE FALLEN.

CHAMPIONLESS,

THE SEAS ARE RISING.

SO TORCH EVERY BANNER.

["Idols and Anchors" by Parkway Drive shreds over the PA System and the veteran Byron McCall emerges to the main stage wearing his walkout fight kit with his corner crew following behind. McCall never breaks stride with a stoic look across his face, a look of focus from the decorated fighter.]

CARRICK PRICE

I say it every time I’ve had the privilege of watching him fight, but Byron McCall is one of the most well rounded, gifted fighters that this mixed martial arts world has ever seen. More than that, though, he’s got unmatched experience. The man has literally seen and done it all, and that sort of knowledge is invaluable. He’s going to be a hell of a test for Aries Reed tonight. A lot of people might be overlooking him, but I promise he is fully capable of ruining what many expect to be Aries Reeds night.

JASON JACKSON

You touched on his level of experience, Carrick, and there ain’t no doubt he’s one of the most decorated and accomplished fighters still competing today. He’s a former CGFC Shogun Champion, and now he’s got his sights set on becoming a Union Grand Prix Champion. He’s flirted with the idea of dropping to 155, which he would give that division nightmares to try and match up against. However, right now he’s just moments away from a fight in which a lot of people believe is the next step to a shot at the Middleweight Championship.

[McCall reaches cageside where he strips down to his trunks and gets inspected by the fight official. Once he’s cleared, McCall goes around one-by-one with his corner crew and gives each one a hug before racing up the steps. Once inside, McCall jogs a few laps around the octagon before posting up in his corner and begins rolling his neck to stay loose.]

WHAT YOU CALL AN ICON LIVIN'?

WE UP TOO HOT IN THE BUSINESS

["Icon” by Jaden Smith begins to play over the loudspeaker and “The Silver Tongued Devil” Aries Reed emerges to the stage wearing his purple and silver walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Reed looks hyped up and can seemingly be seen talking trash as he slowly walks toward the cage.]

CARRICK PRICE

Seeing where Aries is at now, and remembering where he was a few years back, it’s clear he’s put in the work. There’s a massive challenge in front of him tonight but I have no doubt he’s more prepared for a moment like this than he ever has been at any point before. Hard working and constantly evolving and growing in the fight game, he’s part of the next generation of MMA stars, many of which are being featured here tonight. A victory would give him a shot at either Robert Guilliman or Asher Jrue, depending on how that fight plays out later this evening. But you’ve got to think deep down Aries is itching for another go at Primarch.

JASON JACKSON

It takes some neurological imbalances to WANT to face The Primarch, but I too believe he’s a guy that wants another crack at the strap.

[Once he makes it to cageside, Reed gets checked out by the fight official to ensure he’s fit to fight. Once he’s been cleared, he bear crawls up the steps and stomps into the cage, giving out a loud battle cry before taking his corner.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 20-8. He stands 6’1”, and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Boston, Massachusetts, he is “The Last” Byron McCall!

[McCall shifts back and forth, as he takes a few deep breaths and punches his fists together to test the gloves.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 14-6. He stands 6’ even, and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Atlanta, Georgia, he is “The Silver Tongued Devil” Aries Reed!

[Aries gives the crowd a wave as he bounces calmly his corner. He looks confident in his abilities tonight.]

CARRICK PRICE

Here we go. I don’t know that anything else needs to be said. If I was betting my money would be on McCall, but it wouldn’t shock me to see Aries walk out with a highlight reel K.O. either.

JASON JACKSON

That's the beauty of this sport, no matter what statistics you look at, or what film you study, ANYTHING can happen inside those caged walls. Now, let's turn the action over to our referee for this contest, Dusty Whittaker; who totally doesn't remind me of a biker dude who's stabbed a man.

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[Aries Reed and Byron McCall come out to touch gloves in the center of the cage and they waste no time getting to work early. McCall paws at Reed with his jab but Reed answers by stepping off to the side to deliver a slick left hook on target. McCall takes a step back, but Reed proceeds with pressure as he dips down and shoots in quickly to grab hold of Byron McCall's right leg, looking for a single leg takedown!

Byron McCall shows incredible balance and he pushes Aries away to stuff the takedown. Reed gets caught with his hands down as he circles out, and Byron tries to take advantage by swinging for the fences! Reed sways away from the punch on the backpedal and he creates space as Byron McCall puts his hand up to wave him forward, telling him to come get some.]

JASON JACKSON

Wow, Byron is telling him to come on and fight. I think he wants to stand and trade with Aries. I don’t think that’s a wise move.

CARRICK PRICE

Man’s got a point to prove and he’s been around long enough to be able to know if he can hold up or not. He’s earned the right to make bad decisions and has surprised plenty of people in the past when they’ve doubted his ability to trade.

[Byron closes the distance with a hop and tries for a huge switch kick to the head, but Reed narrowly blocks it. McCall continues to press forward, and this causes Aries to feint another takedown to try and cool down the pressure. McCall sees it coming a mile away, and in a showing of excellent timing, he blasts Aries Reed with a right uppercut for his troubles. Aries takes a few steps backward from the impact, but his excellent head movement causes a follow up punch from McCall to go wide.

This creates the distance the two fighters need to circle out again. They show each other a ton of respect here, as they gauge the distance and look for an opening to strike. Reed moves forward looking for some action, but Byron dodges a looping hook and circles out to create some more space while he takes a look up at the clock. Aries tries to take advantage of this and charges in to push his opponent against the cage with double underhooks. McCall doesn't want anything to do with the clinch however, and he fights off Aries’ grip and puts some distance between them again. ]

JASON JACKSON

Good call getting out of that clinch. Aries actually has some pretty nasty dirty boxing if you let him start landing in close there. You can see though that both men are working to find their range and keep a bit of distance between them for the most part.

CARRICK PRICE

Aries and I fought a few years ago early on in my career and, even though we talked shite in the build up to the fight, we left with what I think is mutual respect. The lad has anvils for hands and to say that it’s unpleasant being hit by them would be an understatement. Can’t blame Byron for trying to keep his distance. I’d like to see Aries keep the pressure on, though.

[The two fighters step in to exchange some punches, but the only one who lands cleanly is McCall. A left hook finds a home on the chin of Aries Reed, and McCall follows through by trying to secure a Thai plum! Reed smacks his hands away however, and moves aside to keep the fight at striking range. Aries tries to circle out away from Byron, but McCall moves forward in pursuit and launches a furious low kick that lands hard with a smack on the thigh of Aries Reed!]

CARRICK PRICE

Well, I might want to see Aries keep the pressure on but kicks like that will make him think twice about it, no doubt.

[Reed tries to answer with a crisp straight left hand, but McCall ducks under and lands a two piece to the midsection for his trouble! Aries backs up a bit and he begins to look for angles as he works his jab. McCall slips one of the sloppier jabs and tries to come over the top with a huge overhand right! Instead, he finds himself on the receiving end of a well timed, right hook, left straight combo by Reed. Byron McCall sets his feet and responds by cracking Aries with a hard swaying left uppercut in return.. Reed seems staggered from the shot and he immediately goes on the back pedal, but Byron McCall gives chase, looking to capitalize with a flurry of punches!]

JASON JACKSON

Yikes! That uppercut rocked him a little. I think he’s hurt! Reed might be in trouble here uce!

CARRICK PRICE

He’s got that oh shit look in his eyes an-OH SHIT!

[Aries recovers pretty quickly but he tries to bait McCall in by pretending to still be hurt. Byron takes the bait, and as soon as he steps in to throw,  Reed uncorks a slick uppercut of his own. He follows through with a Jab, straight, left hook combo that McCall barely deflects. Byron takes a few steps back to circle out and quickly launches an inside leg kick that causes Reed's knee to buckle!]

CARRICK PRICE

Jesus Christ. Great combo by Aries but an even better inside leg kick from Byron. Hopefully that didn’t cause any lasting damage.

[McCall tries to turn the pressure back up here and push the pace, but surprisingly Aries Reed closes the distance to his opponent quickly,  wanting some action himself. Reed uncorks a barrage of nasty punches but McCall seems to block them all with confidence and practiced skill. Aries gets a little carried away with swinging for the fences here and gets a little sloppy, so Byron takes advantage of this and steps back to land a hard teep kick to the solar plexus of Reed! Aries stumbles backwards, rubbing at his chest and McCall presses forward.]

JASON JACKSON

Byron McCall is pressing the pace here and staying all over Reed, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a good thing. One big shot from Aries can end the night and he’s great at delivering that shot in close. I’d hate to see Byron charge headlong into a knockout punch. Clever move by Aries though to bait him by pretending to be hurt too. Good stuff..

[Aries attempts to slow the pace of the fight by pushing his opponent back against the fence quickly with another double leg takedown attempt! Byron has this one scouted as well however, and he uses the cage to keep himself standing with a textbook whizzer. Aries tries hard to finish the takedown, but Byron starts to shrug Reed off, and with a growl, McCall powers his way out of the situation. Reed stumbles a bit and this gives McCall an opening to turn and put Aries’ back against the fence now! Byron wastes no time here and he grabs Aries Reed in a tight thai plum clinch again, looking to knee a hole in his face! Aries blocks the knee with ease, and he pushes Byron McCall away to break the clinch. Reed pushes forward quickly on the break, raining a volley of punches on Byron McCall but McCall quickly defends and throws his own barrage in return!]

CARRICK PRICE

GOOD LORD! That knee could have put an ox down. Thankfully Aries saw it coming and blocked it well. Great exchange. Fuck this makes me want to get back in the cage again.

JASON JACKSON

Glad I’m not the only one.

[The ten second warning echoes out and the two exchange wildly here with both men landing some BRUTAL punches as they stand on a napkin and trade in the center of the cage! The crowd is on their feet, and the building is vibrating from the roar emanating  from the sea of fans. McCall lands a string of solid, crisp punches! Reed answers back with a a 4 piece of his own! It is a back and forth war here! What a FIGHT! A bone shattering straight right hand from Byron McCall finds a home! A nasty left hook by Reed lands flush on the chin of McCall! McCall is ROCKED! He stumbles backwards and Aries shoots in to press him against the cage again. Reed secures double underhooks and tries his best to suplex Byron to the ground but the horn calls a stop to the action and the two men touch gloves and split for their corners.]

JASON JACKSON

Woooooo!! What an end to the round for these guys! They went toe to toe and both stay standing. That was awesome. I thought for sure one of them was going to drop. That round was hard to score. I think it’s about as even as even can get. Both of these guys want that shot at the Middleweight King.

CARRICK PRICE

Ten more seconds and Aries had it. Heartbreaking but you’ve got to move on. I agree it could be an even 10-10 but the way Aries finished the round might sway it in his favor.

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The second round gets underway and Byron McCall opens with an incredible head kick attempt! Reed is barely able to block the kick, and the crowd echoes out with a collective gasp. Reed shakes his head at Byron, and circles out as he  tosses out a few jabs that are parried by Byron. Aries closes the distance again and uncorks a lightning fast combo that finds its target, capped off by a nasty straight right that lands flush on the orbital area of Byron McCall and opens a cut on his left cheek.]

CARRICK PRICE

This is exactly what I wanted to see out of Aries to start the second. It can be deflating knowing you nearly had the fight put away only to have the buzzer intervene. His corner has done a nice job refocusing him and that combo opened McCall up.

[McCall backs out a bit, reaching up to gingerly touch the laceration on his cheek to check for blood. Aries recognizes this and doesn’t give him a moment to breathe at all. Pressing forward, Reed uncorks with another fluid three punch combination, with two out of three punches landing solid on the face of seasoned fighter Byron McCall. Continuing with the incredible pace, Reed reaches out and secures a single collar tie clinch and wastes no time in launching a flurry of hooks to the body and head! McCall is clearly hurt and he stumbles backwards but Aries Reed chases after him and continues the barrage of punches. The situation looks pretty dire for Byron McCall here.]

JASON JACKSON

Oh shit! He’s hurt! I told you man! He’s got wicked dirty boxing! Aries smells blood in the water here and he’s moving in for the kill.

[McCall shows heart by clinching up with Reed out of desperation, but Aries immediately uses his dirty boxing to launch some bone crushing punches to McCall's ribs while in the single collar tie. You can see the pain in Byron McCall's eyes, but he does his best to fight back, coming over the top with a sharp elbow that narrowly misses its mark. Aries tries to push McCall away to regain striking range, but McCall is able to drive the clinch back against the cage to trap Aries in the position. Reed quickly turns the clinch in his favor, pressing Byron against the fence with double underhooks.  Out of nowhere though, Reed disengages and unloads a barrage of four heavy body shots to the already welted ribs of McCall. This nearly folds McCall, but he stays upright and the crowd grows to a deafening roar.]

CARRICK PRICE

Brutal body shots and I don’t know how Byron is still standing but the crowd is certainly showing their love for that kind of heart.

[Aries shoots for a double leg takedown now, grinding Byron into the fence as he works to finish the attempt and take this fight to the ground for the first time of the night. Byron shows tremendous heart and skill however, and he uses the whizzer again to stay on his feet. This triggers Reed to disengage again and step back. McCall takes two steps forward and Reed is waiting with a nasty uppercut that nearly lifts the former champion off his feet!  McCall stumbles back into the fence and Aries goes on the pursuit, clearly wanting to put Byron McCall away and claim his chance at a rematch with Robert Guilliman. Byron plants himself against the fence and swings for the fences out of sheer desperation. The two exchange wildly and it’s Reed who gets the better of the exchange, connecting with a few solid punches to the body before launching another brutal uppercut that lands flush on McCall’s chin! Byron tries to fight back, but it’s clear that the lights are on, but no one is home. Aries senses this and doesn’t let up, unloading with a blinding string of punches to the body and head of the stunned former champion. Byron McCall just can't get away, and he eats about five good solid punches before slumping into a heap against the cage. Dusty Whittaker has seen enough at this point and he steps in to stop the fight before any further damage is done. ]

JASON JACKSON

That’s it! It’s a wrap! Aries Reed ladies and gentlemen. Wow. That hand speed was unreal. He pinned him against the cage and pummeled him like he had “everlast” written on the side of him. Holy hell. Just the sheer volume of strikes from Reed this fight was crazy. McCall was pushing the pace but every time Aries threw it was two or more shots and they were wicked accurate and in the end Byron just gets overwhelmed. I tell you though Aries’ hand speed has got to be up there for discussion with some of the best in MMA and boxing right now.

CARRICK PRICE

All the credit in the world to Aries as he fought a beautiful fight. For McCall, I think after he takes some time to get past the disappointment of losing, he’ll study the tape and see he probably could have fought a more intelligent fight. But Aries Reed is as real as they come and whether it’s Primarch or Simba that he fights next, it’s going to be a good one.

[The crowd explodes into cheers and Aries is swarmed by his corner crew in celebration. Doctors tend to Byron for a while before finally helping him to his feet, where he has an obvious look of disappointment across his face. After doctors and cut men finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Dusty Whittaker has called for a stop in this fight at three minutes and forty-three seconds in the second round, for your winner by technical knockout, “The Silver Tongued Devil” Aries Reed!

[The crowd cheers once again as Reed has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s corner. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[Toussaint Harper stands alongside the confident Asher Jrue who is almost ready to go war with the Middleweight Champion Robert Guillman.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Asher my guy glad we could catch up.

ASHER JRUE

It's always dope to get a lil camera time. Show this pretty face. You know imma heartthrob in the making.

[Asher jokingly laughs before becoming a little more serious.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

To say you're only nineteen you're fighting for the strap tonight. Could you have imagined you would get here this early in your career?

ASHER JRUE

Things have just aligned for me. Right now there isn't another guy in the division who deserves this fight more. For me to be getting this experience now is only gonna make it worse for guys when I become more seasoned.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

You and Robert have shared some words before the fight tonight. How much of what he has said has gotten to you.

[Asher slightly cuts his eyes.]

ASHER JRUE

Dude really thinks we're supposed to be afraid of him. Like he's the grim reaper or something like that. It's no back down in me. I know Robert can be had. For some reason his loss to Bonnano has just faded from his memory. I've seen his fights. I know how calculated he can be. I came here to win baby and that's what I plan on doing.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

The task will be a tough one and the odds aren't in your favor. How much does that take into account tonight?

ASHER JRUE

Not too much. There is already a lot of weight on my shoulders. I know what needs to be done. I can do it.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Well there you have it. Hey' good luck in your fight tonight?

[The two shake hands before continuing a conversation off camera as things begin to fade.]

[The scene opens to the Union GP Middleweight Champion “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman heading to the Real KILLAS training cage, clad in a black tank top above his ultramarine blue trunks. He walks determinedly in slow motion as the camera displays his biggest highlights. First UGP #8, where Guilliman fakes a low kick and switches up to a high kick! Bonanno gets rocked and hits the ground like a rag doll! That surgical strike by Robert Guilliman has left Bonanno unconscious on the mat!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER (Voiceover)

I don’t believe it! Robert Guilliman is the new Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion!

WARHEAD WILLIAMS (Voiceover)

… Bonanno has been stopped for the very first time!

[At UGP #10, Guilliman launches a stiff right jab but Bonanno parries it. The Primarch sees the opening once Bonanno drops his hands for the block and presses forward. Guilliman launches a vicious head kick that connects clean! Bonanno crumples to the mat and Guilliman moves in to finish him! The referee jumps in and stops the fight!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER (Voiceover)
And it’s all over! The Primarch finishes this one off with lethal precision...

[As Guilliman approaches the cage, the camera presents another flashback. At UGP #14, Byron McCall counters a shovel hook from the Primarch that missed its mark with a furious low kick! Guilliman gets smacked hard on his right leg. Guilliman retaliates with a low kick of his own that connects clean and Byron’s leg buckles at the knee! McCall is hesitant to counter back which allows Guilliman enough time to set up a remarkable tornado kick! McCall gets starched and hits the ground like a rag doll!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER (Voiceover)
The Primarch does it again! What an incredible tornado kick...

CARRICK PRICE (Voiceover)
... Man did I get what I wished for or what?!

[Guilliman climbs the steps of the training cage as if he were walking into an actual fight, and looks determinedly forward into the camera.]

MIKE DEMPSEY (Voiceover)
… AAAAAAAND STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL UNION GP MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION, “THE PRIMARCH” ROBEEEEEEEERRRRRT… GUILLIMAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN!!!

[After this the camera transitions to a close-up of the Union GP Middleweight Champion, against a backdrop of the Real KILLAS equipment room.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN
All the records in the division broken. A legacy made and established for the Real KILLAS camp and the Union GP Middleweight Division. The only Champion in Union GP that still holds the belt after the Grand Prix tournaments. And of course, that raises the obvious question - what comes next? What is next for the Primarch?

[The camera transitions to the Primarch already in the training cage, and slapping gloves with the sparring partner after Coach Carvalho gives the order to begin. The partner moves in, launching a huge left hand, but Guilliman bobs away just in time, and responds with a snapping right jab that connects, and makes the sparring partner stagger. Guilliman then pushes the offense and launches one of his deadly high kicks that the partner can block only seconds before impact. The Union GP Middleweight Champion corners the partner near the cage wall, and Coach Carvalho comes between them.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO
Bom, bom! Muito bom! Não esqueça que ele tem um poder sério nessa esquerda!

(Good, good! Very good! Don’t forget he has some serious power on that left!)

[Coach Carvalho keeps instructing Guilliman as the Primarch listens attentively, and the camera cuts back to the close-up.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN
And now? I have another objective.

[Another transition, this time to the Real KILLAS wall of accomplishments, where several belts are lined up in exhibition, reflecting all the accolades the fighters of the camp have obtained.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
I am currently the second Champion in Union GP with the greatest amount of defenses, only one under “The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson in the Cruiserweight Division. But he lost his belt to Daniel Fisk Jr., and I still have my own. I seek then to match that number, and later to overcome it. Of course, that does not depend entirely on me… but make those numbers equal, that I can do. That is what this fight is for.

[Back to the training session, the camera shows Guilliman on the offense again, and the sparring partner trying his best to evade his onslaught. But a low kick by Guilliman brings him off balance, and a head kick brings him down.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO
Isso assim, Robert! Você conhece o plan! Atenha-se a ele e obtenha esse record!

(Just like that, Robert! You know the game plan, stick to it and get that record!)

[After this the camera transitions to a close-up of Coach Carvalho.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO

(The Primarch has been eager to get back into action, because there is still more opportunity for him to make history. He set himself to accomplish this goal and he’s been working as hard as he ever has to obtain it. He wants to be a pillar of the Real KILLAS and he’s dedicated his every effort, both in and out of training, to hold himself to that standard.)

[One more time to the training session, and Guilliman goes to the ground and pound on the partner, laying shot after shot. The partner turtles, and soon enough Coach Carvalho comes to break them up again.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
This time it’s Asher Jrue that stands before me. Like Zion Momo’a before him he is a rookie with a breakneck speed, a quality for submissions and some heavy hand power. But hit him hard enough and you stop his momentum, as did Byron McCall in the Middleweight Grand Prix semi-finals. And in case this has been forgotten, I am still to be knocked out or put in a submission.

[The camera transitions once more, this time with Guilliman and the sparring partner on the ground. The partner attempts to go for a leg lock, but the Primarch is wily, and throws his weight behind, bringing the partner down with him, which allows him to pull his leg away and get back to his feet.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO
Muito bom! Asher não vai te pegar despreparado!

(Very good! Asher is not going to catch you unprepared!)

[Back to the  close-up of the Champion, sitting on a bench after the training session.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN
I have already won much, more than anyone else in the division. I have made my mark and left a legacy in the history of Union GP. So this isn’t just my fight, this is Asher Jrue’s fight. This is his opportunity. The rookie that defeats the Champion, the greatest there is, in his fifth fight as I was when I became UGP Champion. And he gets to do that in the final Union GP show of 2019 – that’s the greatest shot he’s had so far. So it’s my mission to put a stop to that, especially with the goals we both have at stake.

[One more time into the training session, and the Primarch and the sparring partner are trading blows again under Coach Carvalho’s watchful eye. The partner charges again with that vicious left, but this time Guilliman blocks and goes for a body hook. The sparring partner felt that impact, and Guilliman makes the best of his opening to launch a roundhouse that knocks him down into the cage wall!]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
Because as great as my achievements have been, I don’t intend to stay with them alone. Should I defeat Asher Jrue, Roscoe Robinson and I will be tied for the most defenses in the entirety of Union GP history. It’s only that one step ahead that I want to take, not just for conquest of the Middleweight Division, but of Union GP itself. At UGP #17, the Young Lion learns why the elder rule the pride, and I enter the annals of UGP history once more.

[A final shot of Guilliman leaving the cage, one straight look at the camera, as fierce as it was when he entered.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
To be truly known as the greatest… of all time.

[Fade to black.]

UGP17_Guilliman-vs-Jrue.png

YEAH, I'MA GO FUCK THAT BITCH

I'MA GO THRASH THAT BITCH

SHAWTY GON' SUCK THIS DICK

SHAWTY GON' SUCK THIS DICK

[“R.I.P.” by Playboi Carti thumps over the loudspeaker and Asher Jrue emerges to the stage wearing his grey and yellow walkout fight kit with crew members from his 9th World camp following behind. Jrue has a relaxed look on his face as he sways back and forth down the aisle.]

CARRICK PRICE

Simba might be the most gifted athlete on the ground that the MMA world has seen since, well… me. He’s got the swagger and the confidence, and now it’s just about going out and doing it. Unfortunately for him he’s about to stand toe to toe with the man that, in many minds, is the most dominant fighter to ever grace a UGP cage, and there’s a lot of hard evidence to back it up. If Asher can get this fight on the ground and keep it there, something nobody else has really been able to do, he’s got a chance. But if this fight stays standing, oh boy. Those head kicks are going to find their mark and Simba is gonna feel like he’s been trampled by a herd of wildebeests.

JASON JACKSON

I don’t know man, I feel like we’re writing this kid off on the feet when we shouldn’t be. He’s got decent power in his hands and a monster left hook. I think we just have been focused on his ground game solely because of his slick submission finishes but mark my words. He trains with Pluggz at 9th world. This kid has hands

[Jrue makes it to cageside where he is checked by the fight official. Once he’s cleared, he races up the steps and jogs around the cage a couple times before staying put in his corner.]

ANGELS OF DEATH BY DOYLE W. DONEHOO

BEGINS TO PLAY

[The arena lights die down for a brief moment as the chords of "Angels of Death by Doyle D. Donehoo blare throughout the P.A. system, then flicker between blue and white as "The Primarch" Robert Guilliman strides out of the entrance. The crowd grows with cheers to show their adoration for the lethal champion. Guilliman makes his way down the aisle with members of the Real Killas camp following close behind.]

JASON JACKSON

Here comes the reigning King of the Middleweights, "The Primarch" Robert Guilliman. This guy has been the true definition of a champion this past year. He’s defended his title left and right whenever called on, and he’s done it in the most stunning of fashions typically. I’ve really enjoyed watching his reign, but some folks are saying he’s up against his toughest test yet in Asher Jrue.

CARRICK PRICE

Fisk might be the Godfather of Real Killas but I can’t think of anyone who has carried that banner with more poise and pride than Robert Guilliman. Words can’t really convey what this man has meant to the MMA world over the past year and a half. From a volatile feud with Cristian Bonano, to a string of violent knock outs to retain his championship, the Primarch is a force to be reckoned with and really no one has come close to figuring out how to deal with him just yet. The task before Asher Jrue is a massive one. Primarch is the Mt. Everest of MMA right now, at this very moment. I can’t wait to see if he conquers another, or if someone finally eclipses that great summit. Christ, that’s fucking poetic.

JASON JACKSON

Almost brings a tear to my eye. Modern day Shakespeare

[Guilliman marches down the aisle decidedly, with a heavy air of concentration about him, then salutes solemnly to the audience and staff. He finally reaches cageside, where he strips down and gets checked by the fight official. Once he’s been cleared, he enters the cage and starts a small warm-up routine.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it’s for the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger fighting out of the blue corner, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grappler holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 3-1. He stands 5’11”, and weighing in at 175 pounds. He is from Miami, Florida, fighting out of the 9th World Performance Institute, he is “SImba” Asher Jrue!

[Asher Jrue looks very relaxed in his corner as he rolls his shoulders, yet highly focused as he never takes his eyes off of his opponent from across the octagon.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 9-1. He stands 6’1”, and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Los Angeles, California, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is the reigning, defending, undisputed Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion of the World, “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman!

[Robert Guilliman is beating himself up in the corner before the fight begins, smacking himself in the face, body and legs to get ready for his bout.]

CARRICK PRICE

I love how relaxed Simba is right now, but I wonder if he’s a bit like a duck. Calm on the surface but freaking out beneath. If that attitude is genuine, we might actually have ourselves a hell of a fight tonight.

JASON JACKSON

Rob is hell bent on beating his own ass before the fight begins it looks like. I’m ready to see these two get down to business. We are scheduled for 5 rounds and the  referee of the bout is Willie Green.

OG_RD1.png

[The opening bell sounds and both Robert Guilliman and Asher Jrue touch gloves in the center to get this fight started! Guilliman is first to initiate with a low kick that gets parried and Jrue quickly counters with a big looping right hand that connects to Guilliman’s chin! Guilliman fires another low kick but Jrue is able to circle out of the way. Guilliman circles around a but before throwing an uppercut that hits nothing but air. Asher rushes in while Guilliman is out of position and tries to trap him in double overhooks, but Guilliman pushes him off and connects with a big signature high kick! That vicious kick lands right in the center of Asher’s forehead just as he was trying to back out.]

CARRICK PRICE

Oh Jesus Christ, not already.

JASON JACKSON

He ate that like a champ. The only person I can think of off the top of my head that just ate a few of Guilliman’s head kicks is Zion Momo’a and he still ended up folding in the need. The best case scenario is don’t let him land that kick at all. Point blank. Period.

[Asher circles away to avoid any further damage, but Guilliman circles out and cuts him off. Both men step in and trade punches and Asher is getting the best of the exchange as he lands a few more blows. Guilliman backtracks out and regroups. He begins again, looking for some angles as he throws a few jabs. Those punches are quickly countered by Asher who throws a fast flurry of his own. Guilliman launches another low kick, followed by a 1-2 jab and uppercut combo, but Asher shows off his blazing speed and dodges every strike.]

[The crowd starts to grow in volume as Asher playfully taunts his opponent. Guilliman doesn’t bite on it, but stays focused as he circles in. The Primarch sees an opening and fires off a series of solid jabs that connects. Jrue staggers back on his heels and Guilliman looks like he wants to finish this right now and continues launching bombs! Asher Jrue tries to control the chaos and jumps inside to clinch. He is able to get Guilliman in a plum position and pushes him up against the fence to slow things down.]

CARRICK PRICE

Excellent job neutralizing Primarch there and he absolutely needed to. Guilliman smelled blood but, at least for the moment, Simba has said not today to the god of death.

[It looks as though both fighters take this time to catch their breath and don't make any advancements. Jrue finally takes the initiative as he pushes off of Guilliman and starts launching a flurry of hooks and body shots! Guilliman stumbles back into the fence, but Asher chases him and continues the rain of blows! Guilliman tries to shrug his way out of the clinch now but Jrue is determined and manages to retain his position. Asher continues with another series of hooks and body shots while Guilliman tries to cover himself up. Asher never lets off until Guilliman finally shrugs his way out of the clinch and pushes his opponent back to gain some distance.]

JASON JACKSON

Jrue attacking the body here like a madman! Take the wind out of his sails and a man can’t fight. You can’t fight if you can’t breathe. Stay on his ass Simba!

[Both fighters circle around now to look for any angles or openings. Guilliman fires a couple of low kicks but they fail to land. Guilliman follows up with a high kick that just narrowly misses and Jrue backs away after feeling the wind on that kick. Jrue continues to backpedal, baiting Guilliman to follow. Asher fires off a stiff right hand and Guilliman stumbles back. Jrue tries to close the distance now and secures a single collar tie. Guilliman pushes Jrue into the fence and tries to calm down the action. Neither fighter makes any advancements in the clinch, and after a while Willie Green separates the fighters and tells them to continue the action.]

CARRICK PRICE

Interesting gameplan to see Simba focusing on the clinch. It’s no secret that he’s stronger on the ground but, if nothing else, he’s taken Primarch’s head kicks out of the fight by being persistent in tying him up. We’ll see if that pays off long term.

JASON JACKSON

Correct. For sure. Once you close the distance the kicks become a nonfactor. He can’t head kick you if you are all up in his grill unloading hooks to the body. I think Simba has a great gameplan here right now. He’s just grinding the champ down and testing his cardio. This is a marathon after all, not a sprint.

[Jrue begins to launch a barrage of punches and Guilliman looks to be in a bad spot right now as his right cheek is cut and beginning to swell. Guilliman retaliates with a solid middle kick that wrenches Asher, but then Asher counters with an incredible haymaker that snaps Guilliman’s head back! Jrue fakes a punch and then quickly launches himself over Guilliman to tie in a clinch. Asher begins launching some bone shattering punches to the ribs and you can see the pain in Guilliman's eyes. Jrue continues to batter the body while Guilliman tries to shrug his way out of the clinch. Jrue, however, keeps a solid grip to retain his position. Asher postures up and launches another series of punches, a lot of them are hitting Guilliman hard, who may be wondering how to escape from this. He tries to fight out of it, but Jrue pushes off of him and continues launching hooks to the body. Asher continues to keep the clinch secured and batter the body until the buzzer sounds.  The referee stops the action and tells each man to head back to their corners.]

CARRICK PRICE

Close one. Guilly was aggressive in the early going but especially there at the end Asher really started to assert himself. I think I give the young cub that one 10-9.

JASON JACKSON

Greet gameplan and execution by Asher Jrue. He’s fighting like a man that wants to become a champion. 10-9 Jrue. Definitely. He needs to keep grinding at that cardio of the champ and see if he can slow him down moving forward.

OG_RD2.png

[The second round begins and both fighters make their way to the center. Asher doesn’t waste any time and gets Guilliman back in double underhooks. Just as how the first round ended, Asher goes back to the body with some lightning fast combos. Jrue pushes off of Guilliman and then starts launching a flurry of hooks and body shots. Guilliman stumbles backwards but Asher chases him down and continues the rain of blows. Guilliman’s right eye is bruising fast after the punishing combos. Guilliman pummels inside the clinch until he is able to duck under Asher and move away to gain some distance.]

[Now in the neutral stance, Asher delivers a brutal looping right hand that connects and the entire building reacts to it. Guilliman stumbles back, his corner is screaming! Asher Jrue is coming in again! Guilliman's chin is beginning to swell with a nasty cut as well. Guilliman and Jrue engage in a wild exchange of punches and while The Primarch lands a couple of shots, Asher is getting the best of the exchange. Asher spins around suddenly and his backfist connects flush with Guilliman's chin! Robert Guilliman seems hurt! He stumbles backwards and he's an easy target for Asher Jrue!]

JASON JACKSON

BOP! He sure as shit didn’t see that coming! The champ is rocked! He could be in real trouble here

CARRICK PRICE

Holy fuck! That backfist has Primarch in a world of hurt. Get him Simba! Don’t let him breathe!

[Jrue locks in the clinch in order to control the fight. He takes a break to breathe while holding Robert Guilliman until the referee intervenes to break the clinch. Asher continues to move forward looking for a hole in his opponent's defense and goes back for the double overhook. Asher pushes Guilliman into the fence and tries to calm down the action. Again, Willie Green sees a lack of activity in the clinch and separates the fighters.]

[Both fighters circle around for a bit, seemingly to catch their breath before stepping in and trade off punches. Both are connecting but without much steam behind them. Just as it appears that Guilliman is getting the upper hand in their exchange, Jrue tries to close the range and grapple. He shoves himself over Guilliman to secure a single collar tie. Asher postures up and launches another series of punches! He switches back and forth from the head to the body and has Guilliman in his control, guessing unsuccessfully and eating every shot. The Primarch tries to work his way out of the clinch but it’s to no avail. Asher continues in this position for well over a minute, continuously beating Guilliman to pieces. Finally, Guilliman is able to circle out and slip free of Jrue's grip.]

[Asher Jrue looks very fresh as he charges at Guilliman throwing flurries left and right. Not many punches are hitting, but the ones that land are huge shots! Guilliman is rocked! Those big shots has left Guilliman staggered! Asher Jrue should try push forward now and finish this! Guilliman goes with a looping right hand while Asher jumps back and jabs. Guilliman still seems dazed and Asher runs in to capitalize with a bunch of jabs and crosses. Asher goes with a looping right hand while Guilliman jumps back and jabs. Jrue launches a stiff jab that barely hits Guilliman's face but it seems like one finger has poked his eye! Willie Green saw it and stops the fight. Green takes away one point from Asher Jrue for eye poke, despite his pleas. The referee allows Guilliman time to recover and once he’s ready, the fight resumes with both fighters standing.]

CARRICK PRICE

It’s a big fight. The biggest of Simba’s career and you can tell he feels like he’s the better fighter but he needs to fight a controlled fight. Losing that point could come back to bite him if this goes a full five rounds.

JASON JACKSON

It makes you wonder if nerves had something to do with that eye poke. It was a rookie mistake, and I’d hate to see it cost him a fight that I feel he is winning up to this point.

[As the action resumes, Guilliman fires off a lightning fast low kick that just grazes Asher’s thigh. Asher Jrue launches a rapid series of punches taking Guilliman from one end of the cage to the other! Guilliman bounces off of the fence and spins around with a spinning back kick! That kick rocks Jrue right in the ribs and stops him in his tracks! Guilliman spins around and tries another spinning back kick. Asher blocks as if he was going for the body again, but Guilliman switches and lands square on the chin! Asher Jrue was not expecting something like that! Is this over? Jrue dives at the legs to kill the clock and soon the referee separates the fighters as the buzzer sounds. Both fighters head back to their corners and it seems that the cutman has some work to do with Robert Guilliman.]

CARRICK PRICE

Holy shit what an exchange there at the end. I thought that last kick had done Simba in but somehow he managed to hang on. Not sure how to score this round after Asher lost that point. How are you feeling about it, Jason?

JASON JACKSON

Man he is a tough kick. Not many people can eat a kick like that and keep chugging along. Except maybe Jakko Wirman the juggernaut. But seriously I had this kid winning this round in my book until the eye poke. Gotta be 10-9 Guilliman.

OG_RD3.png

[The third round begins and Asher is showing a little more respect toward Guilliman now and his kicks as he cautiously inches forward. He fakes a punch and launches himself over Guilliman to get back in the clinch and pushes Guilliman against the cage. Both fighters looks to be resting before Guilliman ducks under and gets some distance between them. Asher throws a wild swinging overhand right and hits hard to Guilliman's face and there’s a small laceration on Guilliman's forehead as a result. Jrue paws at Guilliman to measure his range. Jrue fakes a punch and launches himself over Guilliman once again, this time getting Guilliman locked in a troublesome thai clinch. Guilliman tries to shrug his way out of the clinch but Jrue holds on tight. Jrue pushes off of Guilliman and starts launching a flurry of hooks and body shots! Guilliman stumbles backwards but Asher chases him and continues the rain of blows!]

CARRICK PRICE

Man, I think what we’re seeing here tonight is Asher Jrue looking to prove that he’s not just the better fighter on the ground, but that he’s better on his feet too and he’s been testing Guilliman constantly. We’ve never really even seen Primarch threatened in the last year, and right now he just looks outmatched. It’s surreal.

JASON JACKSON

I told you at the start of the fight to not write this kid off in the feet. We saw the holes in his armor with his matchup against Momo’a but only briefly. It looks like Asher has been studying every one of Robs fights for the last 12 months and this is the product. This kid came prepared.

[Guilliman's corner is turning out to be his worst enemy! Jrue continues throwing a flurry of punches! Guilliman just can't get away! Jrue is launching some bone breaking punches to Guilliman's ribs now and you can see the pain in Guilliman's eyes. Asher continues the onslaught inside the clinch, battering the champ while he tries to break free. Robert Guilliman's face is covered in blood. He may be having problems seeing as he wipes the blood out of his eyes. Jrue pushes off of Guilliman and starts launching another flurry of hooks and body shots! Guilliman stumbles backwards but Asher Jrue chases him and continues the rain of blows.]

[Robert Guilliman tries pushing Jrue away to keep the fight at striking range, but Jrue doesn't want to break the clinch as he still is grappling with Guilliman. Jrue pushes off of Guilliman and again starts launching a flurry of hooks and body shots. Robert Guilliman has taken a hellacious beating but continues to press on. He doesn't stop bleeding from the numerous cuts over his face. Finally, Guilliman ducks under Jru and circles away.]

CARRICK PRICE

Great heart shown by the champion but I don’t know how much longer this can go on. Look at the blood. At some point someone might need to step in and stop this fight. Whether it’s his corner. The doctor. Or the referee.

JASON JACKSON

Dude, his face is a wreck. I honestly can’t believe we’re seeing this right now but this kid has marched in here and put the fucking stamp on the champ. If Guilliman doesn’t do something soon this is going to be over. We are quite possibly seeing the end of a reign.

[You can see Guilliman's blood making stains on the mat as he moves around the octagon. He lands some nice jabs to keep Asher at a distance. Guilliman is having a hard time seeing with so much blood blocking his vision. Asher fakes a punch and launches himself over Guilliman once again. Great move by Jrue who pushes his opponent under a troublesome thai clinch. Guilliman doesn't want to clinch as he ducks under Asher and tries to move away but Asher pushes Guilliman forward and doesn't allow him to break the clinch.]

[The fighters are in the clinch and Guilliman is a bloody mess! Jrue is throwing a flurry of punches once again and Guilliman just can't get away. Guilliman pushes Jrue away, trying to keep the fight at striking range but Jrue clamps down. Guilliman's face is covered in blood. He may be having problems seeing as he wipes the blood out of his eyes. Jrue is launching some bone breaking punches to Guilliman's ribs while in the clinch. His ribs are getting hammered, they look bad! Asher postures up and launches another series of punches! A lot of them are hitting Guilliman hard, who may be wondering how to escape from this!]

CARRICK PRICE

I just… I can’t watch this man. I honestly can’t. Guilly’s just a punching bag right now. Someone has to protect the fighter when he can’t, or won’t, do it for himself.

JASON JACKSON

Man, I can’t imagine someone throwing in the towel for me in a title match though. Let me go out in my shield. If I die, then I die. I think Rob probably feels the same. Tomorrow though? That opinion may be different when he wakes up and feels how shitty his body is gonna feel.

[Just like the last two rounds, Asher Jrue continues to do some serious damage in the clinch for an extensive period of time. Another minute or better goes by and Jrue continues to pick his opponent apart. Guilliman is starting to look sluggish out there after taking so much damage and cannot break free from Asher’s grasp. Combo and combo, Asher puts on a clinch clinic, going from the head to the body and back again. Guilliman's face is covered in blood and may be having problems seeing as he wipes the blood out of his eyes. With just under a minute left, Jrue is taking out his mouthpiece to breathe. By now both fighters are exhausted and not much action is taking place. The referee steps in to intervene and breaks up the clinch. Jrue steps backwards away from Robert Guilliman. He seems to be cooling down the fight a bit and kill the clock. Guilliman, however, continues to move forward, and walks right into an incredible haymaker from Asher Jrue! You can see Robert Guilliman's head being snapped backwards just as the buzzer sounds! The referee wedges in between the two to stop the fight and directs them to head back to their corners.]

OG_RD4.png

[Championship rounds are now underway and despite top level medical work, Guilliman doesn't stop bleeding as he walks out from his corner. Asher Jrue senses some urgency and launches a rapid series of punches, taking Guilliman from one end of the cage to the other once again! Guilliman is completely out of it now, his movements are completely uncoordinated. Guilliman mails in a body kick that gets blocked with ease. Guilliman gets sloppy and Asher tries to take advantage. Asher tries to show his boxing skills with a one-two combo and those punches are landing uncontested to Guilliman's face. Guilliman spins around and tries a spinning back kick! Jrue ducks under and hesitates for just a moment… before firing off an unbelievable haymaker that rocks The Primarch like a dump truck! Guilliman is out! Guilliman is out! Asher Jrue has ended this fight in highlight reel fashion!]

CARRICK PRICE

Twenty minutes ago I wouldn’t have believed you if you had told me that this is what we would see. I had all the confidence in Simba to hang in there and make this a competitive fight, but I had no idea he was going to dominate in the fashion that he did. The era of the Primarch is over, Jason. Simba no longer has to wait to be king. He stands atop pride rock now, with the Middleweight Championship in his arms.

JASON JACKSON

Holy hell. See, I told you. We were all sleeping on those hands. Jrue came out here and he fought GUILLIMAN’s fight to earn that title. He didn’t go for the sub… he came for the knockout and by god that’s what he got. Congrats to 9th world and their new champion. Congrats to Asher Jrue. You did it kid!

[The crowd detonates into pandemonium and Jrue is swarmed by his corner crew in celebration. Doctors tend to Guilliman for a while before helping him to his feet. After doctors and cut men finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Willie Green has called for a stop in this fight at one minute and two seconds in the fourth round, for your winner by knockout, AND NEW Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion, “Simba” Asher Jrue!

[The crowd cheers once again as Jrue has his hand raised in victory and the championship wrapped around his waist. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s corner. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[We fade in on an empty Saitama Super Arena. Floor seats are laid out and a ring stands in the middle in still silence. We cut to a shot of black leather pants and Doc Martens boots, both on the legs and feet of someone walking down the arena steps. We then cut to the last moments of the UGP 10 main event from the same building. Takeshi Kato, then the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion, is almost lifted off his feet by an uppercut. We then see the Spinning Wheel Kick that knocked him out a few moments later.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER (VOICE OVER)

Oh my god! Hanako Takeuchi delivers one of her signature head kicks and this one is all over!

[We cut to images of Hanako's corner rushing in to celebrate. We hear the fans cheering loudly along with more voice overs.]

PATRICK CARSON (VOICE OVER)

Incredible accuracy by The Black Rose! She has done it time and again, and now on the biggest stage of her MMA career, here in her home country! Unbelievable!

[We cut to when they put the Lightweight Championship belt around Takeuchi's waist.]

HANAKO TAKEUCHI

April 13th, 2019. UGP 10. Saitama Super Arena. You know the story. Hanako-senpai KO's Kato – a moment even bigger in retrospect when you consider how much shit the Lightweight Division would be in if he had the belt when that scandal went down. Imagine getting your belt trashed by fucking Global. Yikes!

[We cut to see Takeuchi sitting in the middle of a row of arena seats. The Black Rose wears black sunglasses indoors, true to rock star form. Her hair is down in a messy high bun with long bangs. She wears a white open-collar dress shirt and black unbuttoned blazer. The Black Rose has her legs crossed, leaning back with arms stretched over the back of her neighboring seats. The XWA World Television Championship is draped on the back rest of one and the XWA Hardcore Championship hangs on the other. Her face harbors cuts and bruises from DTW's Carnage Carnival, which is still ongoing.]

HANAKO TAKEUCHI

But that moment was a big deal back then as well. It fills me with great pride to know I represented Real Killas MMA in front of Union Grand Prix's biggest crowd. And that I brought home gold and glory. The world watched me celebrate as thousands chanted my name. It's a feeling very few people will get to experience.

[Takeuchi takes off her sunglasses and leans forward.]

HANAKO TAKEUCHI

There's two kickboxers out there who will one day know what that's like – to represent the Killas at the Saitama Super Arena. But they won't be lucky to get here. Oh no.

[“Steady Mobbin'” by Ice Cube plays. We see various shots of workout action at the Real Killas gym back in Long Beach. The footage features stars such as Daniel Fisk Jr., Roscoe Robinson, Robert Guilliman, Donnie Calabrese, and Zari Aliyah. Of course, there's Takeuchi herself lighting up the punching bags and pumpin' some 'ron. That's slang for “iron” that I just made up, boomers.]

HANAKO TAKEUCHI

They'll have to pass auditions and surpass other hopefuls. They'll live with them, train with them, and fight against them. We'll thin the herd at Walter Pyramid until there's two kickboxers left. We'll fly our finalists to Japan where they'll fight on a G2 YaMMAshi show here at the Saitama Super Arena. The winner gets a badass trophy and one million American dollars.

[We cut back to Takeuchi in her seat.]

HANAKO TAKEUCHI

Do any kickboxers out there think they have what it takes? Come to SoCal this Spring. See if you can walk with the Killas. It's Hanako's Killa Kickboxing! Presented by Yamashi Promotions only on the Battleground Network!

[We fade out.]

UGP17_Donovan-vs-King.png

BRACE, SHIFTING AGAIN

I SHOULDN'T KNOW BUT I DO

STAB, A HAND IN THE DARK

SEEDS THE KILLING FIELD

["Shira" by Glassjaw begins playing over the PA system, and the crowd grows loud with cheers. Soon, the dual-sport competitor, Natalie King, emerges on to the main stage. Her sights are clearly focused on the octagon ahead of her, as she doesn’t waste any time drawing closer with her corner crew following close behind her.]

JASON JACKSON

The Bandit King makes the march to the cage here and you can feel the tension and electricity here in this building. This is a rematch that everyone has been looking forward to for some time now. Nat looks focused and prepared to go to war here and all we’ve heard from her camp is how ready she is to reclaim her throne.

CARRICK PRICE

No doubt she is. A bit of that mystique was shattered in the lightweight grand prix when Delaney took her a full five rounds and, for the most part, controlled the fight. But she proved against Jordan Parker-Kane that she’s still every bit the force that the legend she had built up for herself in her first five fights said she was. She’s deadly dangerous and in the blink of an eye the bandit could be back on top again if Delaney isn’t extremely careful tonight.

[King finally reaches cageside, where she strips down to her gear and gets checked on by the fight official. Once she has been cleared, she turns around to give a quick hug to everyone of her corner mates, then dashed up the steps, skipping every other level with her crazy long stride. King enters the cage and immediately throws a spinning heel kick, which fires the crowd up even more. She then calmly heads to her corner, where she awaits for the fight to begin.]

HER BREATH BEGAN TO SPEAK

AS SHE STOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME

THE COLOUR OF HER EYES

WERE THE COLOUR OF INSANITY

CRUSHED BENEATH HER WAVE

LIKE A SHIP, I COULD NOT REACH THE SHORE

WE’RE ALL JUST DANCERS ON THE DEVIL’S DANCE FLOOR

["Devil’s Dance Floor" by Flogging Molly blasts over the loudspeaker and Delaney Donovan emerges to the stage wearing his Irish flag inspired walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Donovan burrows his head down while slowly walking down the aisle.]

JASON JACKSON

Here comes your boy!

CARRICK PRICE

I’ve got all the love in the world for Delaney Donovan but this is a bit of a bittersweet moment for me. For those who hadn’t yet seen the news, Delaney recently made the jump from the ScrapYard Northern Ireland gym to the newly opened L.A. gym, which means he’s out from underneath my wings and guidance. I imagine this is what a father feels like when his kids grow up and move out of the house. Never been more proud, and nervous, than I am right now.

JASON JACKSON

I can relate man. I felt the same way when you left the nest. But, I had full faith that you’d hit the ground running and look at you now! I think this situation is the same here. You’ve all you can and now it’s time for the protege to shine and you to enjoy the hard work and dedication.

[Donovan makes it to cageside where he is checked up on by the fight official. Once cleared, he climbs up the steps and calmly takes his place in his corner while shadow boxing along the way.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! It’s time for the Co-Main Event of the evening! The following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it’s for the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger  fighting out of the blue corner, a Dutch Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 6-1. She stands 6’ even, and weighing in at 147 pounds. She is from Newark, New Jersey, fighting out of RAW Athletics, she is the former Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion, she is Natalie “The Bandit” King!

[Nat steps out from her corner and takes a bow as the crowd roars with cheers. She then bounces off the fence with her back to get back into her fighter mentality.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And her opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Muay Thai Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 9-1. He stands 5’9”, and weighing in at 155 pounds. He is from Belfast, Northern Ireland, fighting out of the ScrapYard: LA MMA, he is the reigning, defending, undisputed Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion of the World, “Double D” Delaney Donovan!

[Donovan quickly raises a fist in the air as he continues to bounces in place to stay loose.]

CARRICK PRICE

With the way the Guiliman fight went down a bit earlier this evening, if I’m not mistaken, a victory here tonight could make Delaney Donovan the winningest fighter within the halls of Union Grand Prix? I know there’s some other lad who have a much more substantial overall record, like our Cruiserweight champion. But a victory here tonight puts Donovan at double digits in UGP, and I think that may be the top mark.

JASON JACKSON

It very well could be. With that, I think we are ready to go here. Let’s take it down to Jordan Ripley to get this thing started!

OG_RD1.png

[The fight gets underway and the two fighters come out to circle the center of the cage and do a little feeling out. Without wasting much time at all, Natalie King opens with her patented head kick and it grazes Donovan's head just barely as he gets his block up in just the nick of time! Natalie pushes the pace forward and follows up with another heavy kick attempt to the body of the champ. Donovan jumps backward however, causing the kick to just miss by an inch and he uses the window to dart back in and land very two solid counter punches on the money! King staggers backwards and Donovan is in hot pursuit! It’s clear that Double D wants to finish this fight early here and he continues launching and landing some bombs!]

CARRICK PRICE

THROW THOSE HEAVY ASS HANDS D! LETS FUCKING GO!

[Natalie’s face is a mess already with some swelling around her eye impeding her vision but she ducks backwards out of instinct and she manages to avoid a few of the huge shots to cool the pressure off a bit. It doesn’t work as effectively as she’d like though, as Delaney stays on the pursuit, stalking her like wounded prey. Another brilliant combination from Delaney forces King to try and take the fight to the ground and she shoots in hard for a double leg! Donovan shuts it down immediately with a well timed sprawl, and he transitions around to back side control to drop a hammer fist on the side of her head.]

JASON JACKSON

This is not the fight I was expecting here so far. Do you think that she’s got a bit of stage fright here? She’s used to championship fights but this one here is a huge one. A spectacle even. Maybe the pressure is getting to her? I don’t know. Something seems amiss. What does she need to do here to get back into the fight Carrick?

CARRICK PRICE

We all know that fights like the first one between these two can change a fighter and it seems like Bandit really wants to put this one to close early but she needs to be just a little more patient. Make Delaney come to her. She’s just playing into his gameplan right now and you’ve got to fight smarter than that.

[Nat makes it back to her feet, and both fighters are tied in a clinch now. Delaney breaks the hold and goes to step back and Natalie throws out a flying knee attempt, narrowly missing connecting with Donovan’s chin. Delaney uses this missed strike to land a two punch combo of his own, connecting solid with the body and the jaw of Natalie King. King tries to answer back with a liver kick but Delaney blocks it with ease and steps away to cool down the pace for a moment.]

CARRICK PRICE

Delaney has worked real hard since his fight with Hanako back in April where he just couldn’t seem to get out of her way and its been on full display in his last few fights. It’s just hard to get hands on this lad now, or feet I suppose if you’re Nat.

[King is having none of it though and she lunges forward to look for a lightening fast straight down the pipe! Double D sways to avoid the shot and the two begin a wild exchange in the center of the cage! The crowd comes alive here as the two fighters trade punches and its Delaney who gets the upper hand, opening a nasty cut below the eye of Natalie King. She doesn’t seem phased though, as she fakes a move to the right before launching a sickening liver kick to the body. Donovan blocks the kick, but the loud smack echoes out in the arena and a red welt begins to spread on his arm almost instantly.]

JASON JACKSON

Woooo! What power from the bandit king! Her kicks are fucking vicious man. Look! He’s already got a welt on his arm there after that one kick and he BLOCKED it bro!

CARRICK PRICE

Unlike anything I’ve ever seen, J. Her kicks look like they hurt more than even your big ass tree trunk legs used to hurt people.

[Donovan maintains his distance and he keeps his eyes peeled for any sign that Nat might throw the head kick again. Instead, she steps in to exchange and Delaney is ready for her with a measured spinning back fist! The shot lands solid on her chin and Natalie King is rocked!! She stumbles back to cover up and Donovan is hot in pursuit. This pays off badly for him though as Natalie King launches a low oblique kick that nearly wrenches his knee out of socket! This seems to aggravate Delaney, so he uncorks a flurry of punches that find their target.  King doesn’t back down though, and the two of them engage in a wild brawl for the fans in the center of the cage! The crowd comes unglued and Natalie king gets fired up! She’s pouring blood from her face at this point but she refuses to quit! Delaney starts to get the upper hand in the exchange and the bandit king steps back to look for a vicious kick to the body!]

CARRICK PRICE

Christ look at the look on Delaney’s face. He looks pisse-WATCH THE KICK D!

[Delaney dodges that one while moving backwards, and this causes King to over extend on the kick and miss a step. Delaney sees his opportunity to counter here and he connects with a world shattering overhand that lands pin point on the jaw of Natalie King, spraying the canvas with a splatter of her blood. Natalie is wobbled from the massive shot here but she shows tremendous heart and does her best to go on the back pedal to stay on her feet and stay in the fight.  Delaney sees this as his shot to end the fight and retain his title though, so he swarms king with a flurry of hard punches. King blocks the majority of them, but the last punch, a brutal right hook, hits hard on Natalie King's chin and She crumples to the mat. Donovan is all over her with follow up punches, and Jordan Ripley is watching closely, asking King to defend herself. It becomes clear seconds later that Natalie is eating way too much punishment so Ripley jumps in between the fighters and stops the title fight in the first round.]

CARRICK PRICE

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! FUCK YES LAD! LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO!!!!

JASON JACKSON

WHAT THE FUCK! I got her blood on me all the way over here! Holy shit! It’s a massacre! It’s like the doors just opened to the elevator on the shining. Look at this shit! Someone get me a wet wipe.

[The crowd explodes into cheers and Donovan is swarmed by his corner in celebration. Doctors tend to King for a while before helping her up to her feet. After doctors and cut men finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Jordan Ripley has called for a stop in this fight at four minutes and thirty-eight seconds in the very first round, for your winner by technical knockout, AND STILL Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion, “Double D” Delaney Donovan!

[The crowd cheers once again as Donovan has his hand raised in victory and the title wrapped around his waist. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. [Recorded on 12/6/19]

[Heavyweight Champion Kennard Rozier is strolling along Conway Park with Dylan Carter not too far from the Ninth World Gym. They seem to be having a casual conversation where the camera picks things up.]

DYLAN CARTER

Heavyweight Champion. That has to sound nice to you.

[Kennard just chuckles.]

DYLAN CARTER

We all get to see how you operate in the cage, but I want to know what was it like for you coming up? How did you find your way to the cage?

KENNARD ROZIER

Uhhh, a blessing in disguise ya know. All I had as a kid was my moms. She did a lot of shit that put her in the place she's in now. Eleven years old having to see your mom's go to the pen it's hard to understand. Even though she should be a free women cos she didn't do it. But when life got flipped that's where the true blessing came.

[With a head nod the World Champion continued.]

KENNARD ROZIER

The only person willing to take me in was my unc Kenny who lived here in KC bless his soul. He didn't have much but like in life today you have connections and he had those. He was close friends with coach Delhommes farther Ray who was a boxing trainer. At eleven I wasn't no lil ass boy and unc saw that. At first I was training with some dudes at the Grind and Grit academy. They put me to work and shit…nineteen I was a ametuer kickboxer. That's where unc's connect came in and I hooked up with coach Delly at Ninth World. I went pro for a year and some change before having a couple mma fights and here I am.

DYLAN CARTER

At what point did you decide that you didn't want to be a Kickboxer and turned to mixed martial arts?

[Kennard and Dylan wave at a couple walking their German Sheppard who noticed Pluggz.]

KENNARD ROZIER

It's crazy cos I really wanted to be a boxer. At the Grit and Grind Academy most of the dudes there where boxing so I was like bet imma do the same thing. My unc was like naaah bruh you need to be a kickboxer so that's how that happen. When I went to Ninth World that's where I started doing MMA with coach Delly. I just fell in love with it and was like ok bet. MMA is me now.

DYLAN CARTER

A lot of fighters look to train in bigger cities, but yet you and the Ninth World team train here in Kansas City. Being that it's not really a destination to come and train what has that been like for you?

[Agreeing somewhat Kennard nods his head.]

KENNARD ROZIER

Family always comes first in my books. I get that fighters wanna train in the cities because it's easier to get other opportunities there but at the end of the day… a fight has to be fought and no matter where you train you got to be on all fours. I love it up here. You don't gotta worry bout shit you know what I'm saying? It's low-key. I just put in the work and get the results. We building out here. I wouldn't wanna be no other place right now.

[He looks down at the 9th World emblem hanging from the chain around his neck.]

DYLAN CARTER

You've came up the Heavyweight ranks relatively quiet before your title fight with the former Heavyweight Champion Donnie Calabrasse. There hasn't been much hype around you yet. How do you feel about that?

KENNARD ROZIER

It's cool. I've come up while other fighters are ascending. It ain't a problem. I know that the niggas who suppose to be watching me been watching. They can't miss out. What I've done in that cage so far speaks for itself. That's all the hype I need. I got what a lot of fighters pray about having every night. I'm cool on that part. I know my worth.

[He shrugs his shoulders.]

DYLAN CARTER

Five wins all in the first round on your way to becoming the Heavyweight Champion. You've risen up the ranks so fast. It's almost been like in a blink of an eye.

KENNARD ROZIER

It's been hella fast.. It's like I put my foot on the gas and never looked back. When I got that first victory I knew I could do exactly what I'm doing now. Things got more personal with Armani. Knowing my moms was a prostitute it struck a nerve when he brought her up but it also kept me focused on the reason why I do this shit anyway. Having that Ferdinand win in the bag was big for me too though. Not everyday you get to square up with a former champ so for me to get to the finals through him was an accomplishment. Now, it's like a sense that I can relax. We here, but I can't. It's happening. My shot, so I just gotta make sure I stay focused and not let nothing distract me.

[Kennard laughs under his breath.]

KENNARD ROZIER

But we know that didn't happen. In the end though… I ended up becoming the champion and I know that hurts big boy to death. He didn't have that true moment to say he was the champion. That he could really run the Heavyweight Division. That's on me now.

DYLAN CARTER

Speaking of the former Heavyweight Champion. You two will square off again right here in Kansas City next year January Nineteenth. How much are you looking forward to this fight.

[Kennard couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.]

KENNARD ROZIER

I'm super excited for this fight DC. Perfect timing and everything. My first Main Event in the city I've been telling forever. How could I not be overjoyed? As far as Donnie goes … we know what it is. It's beef, I don't fuck with em. He don't fuck with me. So if it's war I'm winning it. I'm already up in this situation. I'll be looking forward to starting the year off with another first round finish.

[Kennard winks before grinning again.]

DYLAN CARTER

As we head into the new year any early new years resolutions you care to share with us?

KENNARD ROZIER

Uhhhh, it's it's one thing I want next year is either a fight with Fisk or Roscoe. I think that would be dope for Union. Especially if it's champ versus champ. That payday would be mondoooo.

DYLAN CARTER

Well thanks for letting me have some of your time today. It was a pleasure.

[A camera takes a good 360 view of the UGP Cruiserweight Title…]

[Not the version you’ll see tonight. No no. The first version. From the very beginning. The very first version of the UGP Cruiserweight Championship belt. The slow 360 is with all the pageantry and shine placed on the title. The cameras setting after making the full circle back to the front of the title starting a slow zoom to the nameplate. It’s easy to read but the voice is soon to match the name.]

“No matter the time UGP, it’s been me.”

[“ME” by Jadakiss starts to play with the nameplate view of the belt switching from the first version to the current, name not changing. The transition is smooth from the switching belt the view of Roscoe Robinson and Daniel Fisk trading shots and blows. The replay of Fisk’s fall to Robinson and in return Robinson’s fall to Fisk. Each of the moments playing over the track, back and forth until the view of Fisk walking forward with the title still on his waist.]

[The respect and love shown at the end of the first meeting transitions harshly to the ending of the second one, more specifically twitter being on fire with a vengeance between the two MMA giants. The words being said and slight discord shown between them. The song’s audio still going on in the background while Fisk’s voice is heard over it.]

“The first time around, I spoke of nervousness. I spoke about the discomfort I felt knowing that Roscoe Robinson had that knowledge you can only get with experience. Being in the cage with me day after day. Willingly signing a death wish before I even knew it. I held doubt and was hesitant. I asked my Killas to come at each other with everything and here I was worried? Then again, Roscoe showed the reason for my worry didn’t he?”

[Fisk is shown looking over the roof of the Mecca. The view of the beauty that is Long Beach. The focus in his eyes is something that’s always been seen before. The difference this time around is the smile coming through the hardened exterior.]

“The second time around, even a God needs to learn them lessons. I had to. Take the time to enjoy and appreciate. Never rest on your work. Take that moment to smile before moving on to the next item on the goal list.”

[The slight disappointment on his face after losing in his first defense to Robinson transitions to an outright scowl in his split decision loss to Nathan Lucas. The latter shown with much more disdain.]

“Remember the words I said back then? Brought out the God?”

[The quick knockouts that have been happening by Fisk’s hands since begin to play over the screen over and over. Record timing going through the Grand Prix tournament.]

“On god.”

[The Vegas lights shine with the UGP 17 ad shining brightly from the T-Mobile’s front boards.]

“The goal now, defend it right. Solidify becoming the only 2-time Cruiserweight Champion. While he try to deny my first defense, I try to wash his dreams of becoming a two-time champion. Either way history will be made tonight. Just as Killas do. I know a lot of people have been wondering what this static been meaning for us.”

[Fisk is shown with his taped hand being smacked against his palm.]

“I’m the youngest of my siblings so I never got the big brother shot growing up. Scoe? That’s my younger brother and I love him still, after all it. Gospel words right now.”

[Everything cuts with a record scratch as soon as Fisk’s eyes flash on screen.]

“But I’ma still bust yo head to the whites this and however many times I gotta in the future. That’s me.”

[Within a matter of seconds, the entire arena goes from day to night mode, complete darkness.]

GUN ‘EM DOWN (BIH, YEAH) WITH A .50 (BRR, BIH, BRR)

GUN ‘EM DOWN

OH MY GOD, HUH (HUH)

YA DIG (UH, HOO) 999 SHIT, AYY (HOO)

[The beat of “Armed and Dangerous” by Juice WRLD bumps throughout the arena, drawing a huge reaction from the fans in remembrance of the late rapper. Neon blue, pink, and purple lights shine down from above, traveling over the fans below in rhythmic patterns.]

WHEN I'M IN TOWN (YEAH, UH) PARTY'S GOIN' DOWN (YOU DIG? IT'S GOIN' DOWN, HOO)

SHOOT 'EM DOWN (BOW) WITH A .50 ROUND (YOU DIG? A .50 ROUND, HOO, AYY)

RUN THE TOWN (WHAT?) BALLIN' HARD, YOU OUTTA BOUNDS (YOU DIG? SWISH, AYY)

SO MUCH MONEY, DAMN IT, I FORGOT TO COUNT (CASH, CASH, CASH, YOU DIG? HOO)

AYY, LOOK AT MY BANK ACCOUNT (YOU DIG? HOO) LOOK AT THE CASH AMOUNT (HOO, OOH, YOU DIG?)

I GET THE CASH, I'M OUT (YEAH, HOO) I DO THE DASH, I'M OUT (YOU DIG? YEAH, HOO, OOH)

LOOK AT MY BANK ACCOUNT (YOU DIG? OOH) LOOK AT THE CASH AMOUNT (YOU DIG? SKRT, UH)

I GET THE CASH, I'M OUT (LOOK, UH) I JUST BE CASHIN' OUT (YOU DIG? SKRR)

[A spotlight shines down onto the entrance stage filled with a fog stretched across the entire surface. In the foggy entrance way, a neon purple shines from within as the silhouettes of multiple people become visible. Walking out first, “The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson steps out into the spotlight. His trunks are purple with pink and blue trim. On his right hip, a pistol in a holster is embroidered and down the left leg of his trunks, the numbers 999. Nothing else, just his gloves already strapped - a warrior walking out onto the battlefield.]

SIPPIN' HARD, GUN ON ME, NO NEED FOR BODYGUARD

AIM AT YOUR BODY PARTS, YEAH, TAKE OFF YOUR BODY PARTS, YEAH

[The rest of Roscoe’s entourage of coaches and security step out from the back and into the spotlight. One face that sticks out more than the others is a rather familiar one to say the least. Moving in beside Roscoe was none other than Cosmo Cooper, playing both to the fans hyping them up and to Roscoe pumping him up for the upcoming bout. Followed by everyone else, Roscoe leads the way, heading straight down the ramp and towards the cage at the center of all focus tonight.]

CARRICK PRICE

The Shooter makes his way to the octagon tonight, paying homage to the late Juice WRLD. J, let me ask you something, yeah? What’s it feel like when you gotta sit here and watch Roscoe after how things went between the two of you after your big fight with each other?

JASON JACKSON

Feels like business, my man. You know me. I’ve always been the one to talk shit to hype a fight but once the fight is concluded, win or lose, then it is what it is. He won. Do I like it? Meh. It was just that time for me. It wasn’t like with Brandon Banks where I was at the height of my career and wanted a rematch right away. Truth be told I already had one foot out the door. I had a lot of other factors that were more important to worry about like my wife and kid, but I got no excuses. At the end of the day, losing to this fella doesn’t change any of the things I accomplished in my career. It’s his time now though, and I got no grudge whatsoever to be honest. It’s all water under the fridge. Let him have his moment.

[Once at cageside, Cooper and the other coaches exchange a few last words with Roscoe as the fight official checks him over for clearance. Once that is completed, Roscoe turns his back to everyone, looking up the cage steps and through the open door. Pounding his fists together, he then shoots up the steps and bursts into the cage.]

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

[The crowd goes in cheering wildly in the midst of nodding their heads to the beat. Ladies get to screaming at one of the best looking fighters out. Daniel Fisk Jr walks out with his Real Killas team behind him the hood of his robe staying over his head while he gives that grim face to the camera right in front of him. 4 Cuban link chains hanging from his neck. That's the only showman part Fisk's plays though as he walks to the cage keeping his focus on the cage and only the cage as fans reach out to touch him. He nods his head slightly keeping his business like demeanor while all the power he's looking to unleash is moments away from opening.]

JASON JACKSON

I won’t lie though, this is an awesome moment to see. Daniel Fisk Jr has fought and clawed for years to make it to the pinnacle of the sport and here he is… at the top where he belongs. I had him on the inaugural episode of Microphones and mouthpieces and he and I kinda buried the hatchet, finally. Once upon a time he and I were super close and I’m just happy to be here in proximity while he has his time in the spotlight. He deserves every second.

CARRICK PRICE

I remember. It was part of made Slaughterhouse great there for a time. Shite changed, and everyone went their separate ways but I agree. I’m happy to be here to see him finally achieve the success and recognition he deserves.

[Reaching the pad, his expression never changes as he takes off the fight robe and house mortgage on his neck. After getting checked in he slowly walks the stairs until he reaches the entrance. He stands there and slaps both sides of the cage before walking in calm and easy. Fisk stares at his opponent while walking to his corner and nods in approval. Reaching his corner he rotates his wrists and warms up wanting every bit of the action.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Main Event of the evening! Sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, our three judges scoring this contest at cageside are Miranda Franco, Max Carver, and Ozzie Sebastian, and when the action begins, our referee in charge in the octagon is Herschell Warden. And now, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it’s for the Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger,  fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 9-2. He stands 6’1” and weighing in at 215 pounds. He is from Long Beach, California by way of Atlanta, Georgia, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is “The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson!

[Robinson nods his head as the cheers from the crowd grow ever louder. He beats his chest to hype himself up while keeping a focused eye on his opponent from across the octagon.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 23-4. He stands 6’5” and weighing in at 225 pounds. He is from Los Angeles, California by way of Newark, New Jersey, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is the reigning, defending, undisputed Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Champion of the World, “.44” Daniel Fisk Junior!

[Daniel Fisk looks very relaxed in his corner as he raises a clenched fist in the air to the sound of a roaring standing ovation.]

CARRICK PRICE

It’s a Killa Party but there’s been some tension between these two ever since Fisk took the Cruiserweight Championship off Roscoe in stunning fashion a few months back. Who walks away with this one is anyone’s guess but we’re about to find out. You betting on either of these lads tonight? It’s a hefty schedule that Fisk has been working lately and I wonder if that will take its toll on him tonight.

JASON JACKSON

Only thing I'm betting on is this is going to make history. I'll leave it at that, Carrick. I'm hyped for this, let's turn it over now to the main event official Herschel Warden... Don't blink! Here we go!

OG_RD1.png

[The bell announces the first round and both fighters close the distance toward the center of the octagon. Both men touch gloves to make it official. Roscoe Robinson throws a sharp low kick but Daniel Fisk is quick to block it and counters with a monster hook that's seen throughout the arena! Robinson stumbles back on his heels while his corner is screaming!]

CARRICK PRICE

Ole 44 puttin’ it on the table right from the get go and this HAS to be a nightmare for Roscoe. The last thing he wants is to let Fisk get another one over on him.

JASON JACKSON

OOOH. Shit! Look I know first hand that Roscoe has a solid chin but he can’t be eating shots like that all night.

[Daniel Fisk fakes a move and moves laterally. He sees an opening and rushes in to push Roscoe in double underhooks. Robinson tries to push Fisk off to keep the fight at striking range, but Fisk doesn't want to break the hold and stays locked in. Fisk pushes his opponent up against the cage while Roscoe controls his breathing. Neither fighter makes any advances, so Herschel Warden separates the fighters and tells them to continue fighting. Fisk bobs and weaves a few times before firing off a brutal combination! Robinson is in a bad spot now, his legs look wobbly!]

JASON JACKSON

Roscoe is wobbly here! That combo from Fisk might’ve rocked him a bit! Fisk stays in pursuit here.

[Robinson launches a furious right hook but Fisk reads it well and ducks under. He pushes Roscoe back to create some space and circles away. Roscoe takes his time closing the distance, but Fisk cuts him off and begins opening up on Robinson, raining down some heavy combinations! Robinson eats them and his corner looks worried! Roscoe launches a desperate high kick in the midst of the storm and clips Fisk right in the face! Fisk has a small cut above his left eye and that punishing blow has left him staggered! Robinson should try push forward now and finish this!]

CARRICK PRICE

Oh shit! He cut him! Roscoe needs to end this now as Fisk has been all over him so far. Dig deep, Shooter, this is your chance.

JASON JACKSON

D got too overzealous in trying to finish the fight and ate a kick for his troubles. He know he had Roscoe wobbled and was looking to put this to bed!

[Robinson goes on the offensive now and throws a few jabs. Those strikes are countered by a muddled Daniel Fisk. Robinson tests the durability of Fisk's chin with a massive uppercut while Fisk lands some great crosses. Both fighters are throwing everything out there and the referee looks on intently, ready to stop this fight at any moment. Roscoe tees off another perfectly timed high kick and Fisk hits the mat! Roscoe continues to rain down bombs and Herschel Warden is asking Fisk to defend himself! Warden has seen enough and jumps in between the fighters to stop the punishment!]

[The crowd roars with excitement as The Shooter climbs up the fence and celebrates with his corner. The medical staff tends to Fisk, who appears visibly upset about the stoppage despite being banged up and looking a bit foggy.]

CARRICK PRICE

Man, this sport can be a cruel mother fucker sometimes. You can be dominating a fight, and look like the better fighter across the board, and one or two good shots can swing the entire thing. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to seeing Daniel Fisk on the losing side of a fight, the lad is just too good. But congrats to Shooter for regaining his title and maybe silencing a few of the Robert Guilliman fans who have been saying Guilly is the one who had the better year. After the way things worked out tonight, I think you could argue for Shooter and have no problem doing so.

JASON JACKSON

Well here’s a concrete fact. Robert Guilliman didn’t beat me this year. So there’s that to consider. But it’s been a blast watching these two go to war with each other. It’s always exciting to have two guys who can put a fight away with a single shot battling it out in there. It keeps everyone, including us, on the edges of our seats

[The fans eventually begins to calm down after erupting into pandemonium as both fighters are now getting pep talked by their corners. Once the crowd dies down and the mob of event personnel disperse, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Herschel Warden has called for a stop in this fight at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds in the very first round, for your winner by technical knockout, AND NEW Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Champion, ”The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson!

[The crowd cheers once again as Robinson has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s corner. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]
