ROUND ONE

[Without even a glove touch, Kozlov opens the round by pumping out a series of a jabs to gauge his distance with Cox; none of them connect, and Cox doesn’t even particularly bite on the punches, but Kozlov uses the momentary aggression to move in closer. Cox drops levels and shoots for a single-leg, and initially gets Kozlov’s leg up, but Kozlov is able to push Cox’s head down and eventually free his leg, instead pushing Cox up against the fence and catching both underhooks. Cox tries to circle away from the clinch, and while he gets off the cage, Kozlov keeps his grip--at least, until it doesn’t make sense anymore, and he uses Cox’s momentum against him, pushing him away and causing him to stumble backwards just a step.]
[Cox whips a leg kick out, but whiffs wildly with it, and Cox answers with a powerful hook to the body that Cox manages to parry aside. Kozlov flicks out a few more tentative jabs, and Cox starts to bite...but when he moves in for a big hook, Cox answers, even quicker than Kozlov, and connects with a huge right hook of his own! Cox lands a few straight punches to follow it up, before moving in to try to secure a Thai plum. Kozlov works one arm in to prevent the full clinch, and the camera catches that he’s bleeding below the right eye from one of Cox’s punches.]
[Kozlov eventually pushes Cox away once he’s caught his breath, but Cox swings a huge leg kick that Kozlov barely manages to check. Cox moves in to clinch again, but Kozlov swings a wild hook that Cox barely manages to avoid by retreating a step or two. Cox again throws a stinging leg kick that Kozlov step in to negate the impact of, before countering with a huge straight to the solar plexus that gets Cox’s attention. Kozlov follows up by winging a few big punches, but Cox avoids them before dropping his level and shooting for a single leg again--this time, securing the takedown!]
[Cox batters Kozlov’s ribs with punches and short elbows that are visibly causing him discomfort, and eventually forces Kozlov to open his guard--which Cox takes advantage of, to pass all the way to full mount! Kozlov scrambles to escape the mount, but Cox keeps his position secure. Cox feints a left that Kozlov bites on, then instead drops a series of big right hammerfists! Kozlov gets more desperate to escape the mount, eventually managing to scramble his way to half-guard, but Cox is able to pass right back to side control with relative ease. Cox drops a big elbow to Kozlov’s temple before passing back to mount and unloading a huge series of punches and elbows! Kozlov tries to cover up, but Cox is dropping bombs on him, and eventually, Herschel Warden has to step in and call a stop to the fight!]
