=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[Asher Jrue and Nigel Musgrove touch gloves in the center to get this fight started! Jrue opens with a one-two combo that lands flush. This makes Musgrove take a step back and Jrue makes him bite on a feint before uncorking a big right hand that connects flush on the chin! Nigel shakes it off and circles out, shaking off the ringing in his head from being it so hard.]

[Jrue gives chase and he launches a stiff jab. The punch barely grazes Musgrove's face but it seems like one finger actually pokes his eye! Willie Green sees it and he halts the fight to give Musgrove time to recover. Nigel Musgrove seems to be ready to fight again pretty quickly though, and  the fight resumes with both fighters standing.]

[The two exchange wildly in the center of the cage, and Jrue gets the better of the exchange. Asher closes the distance and looks to clinch up, but Musgrove shoves him away to keep range. Jrue responds quickly by throwing a looping right hook however, that lands squarely on Musgrove's chin! That stops Musgrove in his tracks and gives Jrue a chance to follow up with a Crisp jab-uppercut combo, but Musgrove deflects the blows and puts some distance between them.]

[Asher Jrue gives chase, not showing any signs of slowing down. Nigel gets his hands up to block but Jrue finds an opening in the defense of Musgrove, launching a big uppercut that lands flush and leaves Musgrove wobbling! Musgrove doesn’t retreat at all and instead the two engage in a wild exchange of punches in the middle of the cage. Both fighters are connecting flush and punishing each other  and everyone is on their feet as we could be seeing an end soon if either lands a lucky punch. Asher’s focus is unbreakable and he weathers the flurry to stun Musgrove with a pinpoint vicious right hand that sends himon the retreat once again.]

[Asher presses forward relentlessly, looking for some grappling action. He secures the double collar Thai plum and Musgrove wants nothing to do with the bad position. His corner can be heard telling him to pummel out, and he tries but Jrue’s grip is vice-like.]

[Jrue pushes Musgrove back against the fence, and he continues to deny Musgrove’s attempts to break the clinch. The former champion tries to unleash some knees, but Musgrove blocks each of them with ease. This causes Jrue to drop the clinch, Tahoe a step back, and unload with a sudden flurry of left and right alternating shots. Not many punches are hitting here as Nigel does a great job blocking, but the ones that get through his block to land are huge! Musgrove is rocked! His knees are wobbly!]

[Asher Jrue fakes a punch and launches himself forward to secure another thai clinch. Jrue gets himself into a good position and he looks to change levels for the takedown. Musgrove tries hard to stay on his feet but Asher is too good and he secures the single leg, running the pipe to put Musgrove on the canvas. Nigel locks Jrue in his closed guard right away but Asher goes to work looking to advance position, landing a few punches before slipping one leg over to get to the half mount.]

[Asher isolates Nigel Musgrove's arm and neck, and steps over into side control, looking for an arm triangle. You can see the pain and panic reflected in Musgrove's eyes..Musgrove struggles to free himself but the arm triangle looks tight!  The hold appears to be damn near unbreakable but somehow Nigel Musgrove is able to relieve the pressure on his neck by applying the “answering the phone” technique  and he’s able to  slip out of the hold and free himself to push Jrue back into half guard.]

[Asher Jrue keeps himself active here on the ground, smelling blood in the water after that near finish. He jumps back over to side mount and he waits for Musgrove to try and move him back to full guard before snatching an arm and sitting down into a slick armbar attempt!! Nigel Musgrove tries to hold onto his own arm to stop the submission but he’s exhausted from escaping the previous submission attempt and this allows Asher to break his grip and extend the arm for the tap!]
