TD GARDEN

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS

MAY 30, 2021

UGP25_Commentary.png

[The opening montage comes to a close and the feed transitions inside the TD Garden. The fans are fired up and pack the building from wall to wall, where many have immersed themselves into the pandemonium and roar out with deafening cheers. With the uncertainty of victory or defeat looming, the aura is both intoxicating and tense.]

[The main stage, where the fighters scheduled tonight make their presence known, is littered with carnage and destruction. A heavy fog sits stale, scaffolding strung in multiple directions, and the overall structure glowing red with fire, ash, and embers; something no fighter will soon forget. The toll on both fan and fighter is enormous. The stage of a bloody war is set. The conquerors envision nothing but execution towards success, while the meek is flooded with doubt.]

[Down in the trenches, Bodie Sullivan and Hall of Famer Jason Jackson stand in attention to officially kick off the night.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, we are live exclusively on the Battleground Network here at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts for UGP 26! Bodie Sullivan here and next to me is the legendary former CGFC Champion and Union GP Hall of Famer, Jason Jackson. JJ, tonight the big focus is on the Middleweight Division, with our Main Event and Co-Main Event bouts featuring the 185 pound class. Robert Guilliman and Asher Jrue square off in the Co-Main Event in a trilogy fight that is a must win for both competitors.

JASON JACKSON

Must win indeed. There is a lot of talk and speculation among MMA pundits that Primarch has lost a step after suffering two straight losses. To them I’d say this; While he did lose definitively against Delaney, and that was a bit of a backslide…. Losing to Cal McCluskey of all people by way of a Ref stoppage? Fluke. Absolute fluke. McCluskey must have been praying hard to whatever god he believes in because there is no way in hell he wins that fight any other time. There is no way in hell that he beats Guilliman in ANY other scenario than the one we saw. That’s not me shitting on McClusk-- Okay it is... kind of… but it’s also a testament to how GOOD Guilliman actually is. Look at the hitlist. Bonanno, Reed, Momo’a, McCall, hell, even Jrue himself…. All by HIGHLIGHT reel head kick KO. One thing Jrue CAN say though is he scored a win over the unbeatable. He knocked out Rob with a beautiful punch to win the title back at UGP 17, but he lost it right away in the rematch to Primarch and then went on another two fight skid where he got finished by both Zion and Aries. I think that he wised up though, shook off the feeling that comes along with taking an L or two, and he went back to his strong suit, which is grappling. Simba has finished his last two opponents with some silky submission skills and that feat has brought us here. Where two warriors face off to prove they still belong in the title picture at 185. Who moves on though toward another shot at gold? I’m anxious to see.

BODIE SULLIVAN

In the Main Event tonight we will see the Double Champ, “Double D” Delaney Donovan, make his first Middleweight Title defense against a resurging Travis Decker. Leading up to this fight, Donovan spoke about how the added weight has slowed him down and how it doesn’t feel natural to him. Of course it’s hard to believe the man when he has two gold straps, but the concern is there and it’s something we have to take his word for. Travis Decker on the other hand has looked like a completely different fighter since he took a break after accumulating three straight losses. Don’t let the record fool you, Ripcord is on a whole new level with his striking and this one has all the makings to be a potential fight of the year.

JASON JACKSON

We’ve seen the spectacle that is Delaney Donovan reign over the lightweight division with an iron fist for quite some time now. He’s beaten a list of incredible fighters as well, including future Hall of Famer Carrick Price. Double D hasn’t lost a fight in 9 fights, Bodie. That’s one hell of a stretch. Imagine the pressure that comes along with a 9 fight win streak. He barely survived a split decision with Bellamy DeSilva back at UGP 21 and then turns around and redeems himself by knocking Primarch into orbit. He’s impressive and is destined for the Hall of Fame himself one day, but I’m interested to see how he continues handling the increasing pressure of TODAY, especially when he’s got a man across from him that is beyond hungry. He’s starving. Travis Decker has come so close to greatness a few times but fell short each time. Whether it was the split decision against Momo’a where many believe he was robbed, his KO loss to Aries Reed, or the decision loss against Nigel Musgrove back at Boss Fight XVII… each time he came up a bit short and this is his golden ticket. Wonka came calling and it’s time to go to the chocolate factory, Uce. He’s reinvented himself, focused more on striking and not grinding people out with wrestling, which was smart. He’s got Cardio for days and he’s content to sit back and play venus fly-trap. He lets people come to them and makes them pay. Stylistically, I think this is a closer matchup than most people are giving credit for. I think that this is Delaney’s fight to lose if he doesn’t take the threat that is a desperate Travis Decker seriously. Decker has gold in his sights and call me crazy but I think this is his night, Bodie.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Also on the docket for tonight, our undercard features two former Everest MMA Champions making their Union GP debuts, and a top five heavyweight clash. In the land of the behemoths, Viktor Volkov returns to action after a losing bid for the Heavyweight Title to take on the stiff “200 Proof” Billy Tweeds. Former eMMA Welterweight Champion Lovelie Saint-Cyr makes the surprising debut in the Cruiserweight Division against “Rocka” Reggie James, and unbeaten former eMMA Champion Alistair McKay makes his Lightweight debut in a Killa Party contest against Xabier Belazco.

JASON JACKSON

BIG BOYS SLAPPING MEAT. Lots of great fights on this card but you know I’m here for the big bois. I love me a heavyweight fight. This is going to be a stand and bang sort of thing. I don’t see either one of them wanting to go to the ground. Honestly though, I'm really excited to see all of these bouts, really. Two former Everest champs making the jump  up and boy let me tell you…  they’ve got some real tests waiting for them at the door. It’s sink or swim time... Welcome to the big show!

BODIE SULLIVAN

And with that, let’s switch gears and turn the action over to our very own hype man, Mike Dempsey!

JASON JACKSON

Take it away Mike.

UGP26_1-James-vs-LSC.png

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, we are live exclusively on the Battleground Network here at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts for UGP 26! And now, this opening contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Shotokan Karate Striker holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 4-1. He stands 6’ even, and weighing in at 225 pounds. He is from Flint, Michigan by way of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, presenting the former Everest MMA Welterweight Champion and the number six ranked Cruiserweight Contender in the World, Lovelie Saint-Cyr!

[Lovelie Saint-Cyr raises both hands and waves to acknowledge the cheering crowd, then bows his head down,  toward his opponent from across the octagon in a gesture of respect.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Saint-Cyr is looking thick out there, JJ! During an interview earlier in the week with Isaac Cohen, he mentioned how draining it was for him to cut down to 170 during his stint in Everest, and now he’s bulked up over 50 pounds for this fight! He’s definitely going to have that knockout power out there that could end this fight in the blink of an eye, but how well do you think he’ll fare if this fight goes into deep waters?

JASON JACKSON

Time will tell, Bodie. It’s a hard change for some, you know, putting on that extra weight and moving up. Your body has to acclimate to that additional mass. Hopefully he’s had a full camp of getting to move around at the higher weight, and working with an elevation mask to account for the increase in oxygen consumption that carrying around more mass entails. It’s a trade off. More power, and strength, but  less speed and agility. Potentially less cardio. Is it worth it? I guess we’ll see.

BODIE SULLIVAN

It’s a tricky situation for many fighters to find that “goldilocks” weight that maximizes their skill set. We’ve all seen it on both ends. Cutting too much can have just as much of a negative impact as putting on the weight. Regardless, I’m excited to see the Haitian native here tonight on the Union GP banner.

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grappler holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 2-0. He stands 5’11”, and weighing in at 220 pounds. He is from Phoenix, Arizona, fighting out of The ScrapYard MMA, presenting the number five ranked Cruiserweight Contender in the World, “Rocka” Reggie James!

[Reggie James paces from side to side while staring daggers into the closeup camera. He punches his chin a few times then gives a cocky wink before resetting his attention back to his opponent.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Reggie James gets the opportunity to welcome LSC to the big leagues. This is surely going to be an exciting clash of styles.

JASON JACKSON

You’ve got a classic striker vs grappler matchup here. LSC is going to want to keep his distance and strike with authority. Reggie? Well he’s going to look to take this fight to the ground and strangle the air out of you like an anaconda. If this guy gets a hold of you, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. Treacherous waters, that is what you are in when you hit the mat with this guy. Let’s see who’s gameplan comes to fruition, and who leaves here holding that L.

BODIE SULLIVAN

James definitely has the reach advantage in this contest, which I’m sure he’ll try to utilize to the fullest. But now we’re all set for the action to begin. Our referee in charge is Dusty Whittaker, and he’s ready to roll. It’s bout time, ladies and gentlemen!

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The fight gets underway with a show of mutual respect, and the two step back after touching gloves to circle out. James wastes little time in going for the takedown, and he dips for an ankle pick, catching Lovelie's far ankle and tripping him to the mat with skill. The two fighters scramble for position, and Reggie takes up roots in Saint-Cyr’s closed guard. Lovelie wraps Reggie up and holds him from being able to posture up as he looks for a way back up to his feet. He takes too long though, and this allows James to power his way to the half guard position. Saint-Cyr keeps wrist control though, and in no time he’s able to scramble back to his closed guard. The action seems to stall out here though, and the referee steps in to stand the fighters back up, to the delight of the crowd.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Solid takedown for Reggie James, but he couldn’t capitalize on it on the ground. LSC showed some solid defense and not allowing himself to slip into a troubling situation.

[James uses a feint to get inside again, and he grabs Saint-Cyr by the waist to effortlessly dump him back to the mat. The two scramble, and Lovelie is able to lock Reggie James back into his closed guard as he looks toward his corner for some help. Reggie, not wanting to get stood up again, pushes hard to move position this time, and he finds himself being able to drop back and lock in a slick kneebar attempt.  Saint-Cyr rolls on the ground trying to get free and after a few hard heel kicks to the thigh of his opponent, he is able to escape. Lovelie clearly does not want to continue the fight on the ground, and he uses the distance he’s created to scramble quickly back to his feet. Reggie is not ready to give up though, and he grabs onto Saint-Cyr’s legs in pursuit.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Another takedown for James and he nearly had that kneebar sunk in! That probably would have been the end for Lovelie Saint-Cyr right there.

JASON JACKSON
Yeah that looked tiiiiiight. Smart move to drive that heel into the thigh of Reginald. He did NOT like that shit and he let go quicker than Rose did when she dropped my boy Jack off that floating door in titanic.

[Lovelie is able to stuff the smothering takedown attempt for a good 30 seconds before he finds his back against the cage as James works obsessively to finish the single leg. The pressure gets a bit too exhausting to defend, and Saint-Cyr is finally unable to remain on his feet. He topples to the ground, and James uses the grip on his leg to instantly go for another leg lock, this time a heel hook. Saint-Cyr is able to break the lock, but Reggie quickly scrambles into his open guard, keeping the pressure on him to grind him down. James tries to improve his posture, but Saint-Cyr cools down the fight, keeping his ankles locked and Reggie’s head pulled down tight against his chest to limit his ability to posture up.]

JASON JACKSON
Damn, he’s relentless isn’t he?

BODIE SULLIVAN

Reggie James is putting his grappling game on full display. It’s evident that he’s determined to work off the takedown and wear LSC down on the ground. But props to LSC, so far he’s holding his own on the ground, but I’m sure he'd much rather be standing and trading right now.

JASON JACKSON
Then he might want to get up and do that, because Reggie is all over his ass right now. Like an old white lady at a yard sale.

[Saint-Cyr waits for his moment and when Reggie tries to make a move once more, he executes a perfectly timed sweep to counter him and end up on top in the half guard. Nothing comes of it however, and Reggie is quickly able to shift Saint-Cyr back into his closed guard and hang on long enough to get Dusty Whittaker to stand the fighters back up. It doesn’t matter though, because as soon as Dusty starts the action again, Reggie charges forward for another single leg attempt.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Reggie James looks content on out-pointing LSC with those takedowns, who’s yet to find a solution for them.

JASON JACKSON
Up and then back down. I guess he heard me though and he TRIED to get up at least. I give him a C- for effort. [to Saint-Cyr] I’m sorry I called you an old white lady at a yard sale. You better move though. Move or die.

[Lovelie finds himself on his back again, this time he’s pressed into the fence like a cheese grater, right in front of the commentary booth,  to make matters worse. Reggie tries to step over into half guard, and Lovelie scrambles out of desperation. It pays off as Lovelie Saint-Cyr isolates an arm in a kimura attempt!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

OOH! Lovelie Saint-Cyr has the arm and is trying to crank back with a kimura!

JASON JACKSON
That’s it! See Bodie, I could totally still be a coach. This man listened to me. Nice Kimura attempt by-- oh. Yikes.

[Reggie is able to stay calm and work out of the bad position by rolling out of the Kimura. The two scramble for position, and it’s James who comes out victorious, finding himself in half guard over Saint-Cyr once more. Lovelie attempts to turn in and shrimp out of the ugly position he’s found himself in, but Reggie James shows his expert BJJ prowess and he counters him perfectly to lock up a guillotine!]

JASON JACKSON
He’s out. Nice escape Reginald!

BODIE SULLIVAN

Reggie James flips the script and now has LSC trapped in a guillotine! That thing looks tight, LSC is in serious trouble here!

JASON JACKSON
Uce, he’s turning 50 shades of purple. I think this one is done.

[The choke is tight and you can see the pain reflected in Saint-Cyr's eyes as he turns bright red and then purple.  Just when things look completely hopeless for the Real Killa, he is able to shock everyone by slipping his head out and gaining top control.]

JASON JACKSON
WHEWWWWW!

BODIE SULLIVAN

He slipped out! Lovelie Saint-Cyr gets free and now on top of James!

JASON JACKSON
He’s not out of the woods just ye- OH SHIT! OHHHH SHIT!!!!

[The crowd roars as Saint-Cyr postures up in the open guard and looks to rain down some thunder…. This is his fatal mistake though, as posturing up gives James the opportunity to pass his leg around Lovelie Saint-Cyr's shoulder and lock in a highlight reel Omoplata! After already suffering from the tight guillotine, it doesn’t take Saint-Cyr long to frantically tap.]

JASON JACKSON
That’s it! He TAPPED!!! IT’S OVER!

BODIE SULLIVAN

Unbelievable! I can’t believe what I just saw! Reggie James stayed calm and managed to see an opening to trap LSC in a crippling Omoplata. An absolutely huge win for the ScrapYard prospect!

JASON JACKSON
That man is scary good at Jiu-jitsu. He straight up set the trap and capitalized like a pro. That was…. Wow. Big props to Reggie James. Tough night for LSC but I know he’ll bounce back like the champion he is and come back to the cage stronger than ever. Let’s take it down to Mike Dempsey for the official decision.

[The crowd booms with a roaring ovation while Reggie James celebrates with his corner crew. Medical personnel pour into the octagon and begin tending to Saint-Cyr to ensure there’s no significant damage. Once the staff conclude their duties, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Dusty Whittaker has called for a stop in this fight at four minutes fifteen seconds in the very first round, declaring your winner by submission, “Rocka” Reggie James!

[The crowd cheers once again as Reggie James has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s corner. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Boxer holding a perfect professional mixed martial arts record of 5-0. He stands 5’6”, and weighing in at 155 pounds. He is from Melbourne, New South Wales, Australia, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, presenting the former Everest MMA Featherweight Champion and the number six ranked Lightweight Contender in the World, “Artillery” Alistair McKay!

[Alistair McKay is pacing from side to side in his corner. He’s got the look of absolute focus drawn on his face that lets everyone know, he’s ready for battle.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

I can’t remember a more hyped up and anticipated debut for a prospect than the unbeaten, former Everest MMA Featherweight Champion, Alistair McKay. This guy has been dominant in his five pro fights and now steps up to the big leagues in hopes to continue and even further his fight acumen. McKay has some serious power in those hands, and now we’ll find out how it translates in Union GP at 155 pounds.

JASON JACKSON

Serious power is an understatement. This man hits like a tank. I mean he’s 5’6” and 155 pounds and starches people like Barney Fife’s trousers. It’s amazing, really. He’s got some serious potential and I’ve been chomping at the bit to see him move up. The key for him tonight is going to be treating this like any other fight. Don’t buy into the glamour and the hype.  It doesn’t matter if it’s the big show or not. You treat this fight like you’re back fighting in gymnasiums in Australia and you’ll be just fine. Pick your shots and land that thunder big fella. Full Send on the Artillery.

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grappler holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 7-7. He stands 5’7”, and weighing in at 155 pounds. He is from San Diego, California, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, presenting the number five ranked Lightweight Contender in the World, “The Black Knight” Xabier Belazco!

[Xabier Belazco raises a clenched fist in the air to the sound of the roaring crowd. He then nods his head toward his opponent in a respectful manner.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

The Zenn Master. As I’ve said before, the always cool, calm, and collected veteran is the measuring stick at 155 pounds. Xabier Belazco always brings a solid game plan and is always a tough outing. This is a perfect fight for McKay to see if he can hang with the major players of MMA.

JASON JACKSON

That’s what I have an issue with though. With all due respect, Xabier Belazco is touted as a journeyman or gatekeeper at 155 pounds. Aren’t you tired of being the gatekeeper? Aren’t you tired of being the measuring stick? This is his chance to put the fucking STAMP on an undefeated Everest champion and show the world that you’re champion caliber, not the dude that keeps people out of the top 5. The Zen master is one of the coolest dudes I’ve met, but he has to shit or get off the pot. With a record of 7-7 this one decides whether you drop below .500 and stay a gatekeeper, or if you shut down this hype train and gather some hype yourself. Ball is in your court Xabier. Make the right shot.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Can’t argue with that statement, JJ. Belazco isn’t getting any younger, if he wants to make a serious push for the title, this is the launchpad to do it. But now we are all set and ready to get this Lightweight bout underway!

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[Belazco and McKay move forward as the bell signals the beginning of the fight. Xabier opens with a loose leg kick out the gate, but McKay dodges and answers with a perfectly timed uppercut that almost sends “The Black Knight” into orbit! The damage is apparent right away, as Belazco’s jaw starts to show signs of some pretty intense swelling.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

BOOM! Alistair McKay launches the hammer! Xabier Belazco is on his skates!

[McKay pushes the pace, stepping in to uncork a lightning quick one-two combo to set up a huge right haymaker attempt.  Belazco sees it coming a mile away and his defense muffles the impact of the first two punches, and he steps aside of the haymaker to look for a slick single leg takedown. Mckay shows great takedown defense though, shrugging Belazco off to circle out and regroup.]

JASON JACKSON

Ugly right off the bat. That uppercut has him seeing stars, and you can already see the effects. His jaw is getting puffy already and McKay has only landed one clean, significant shot.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Belazco could be in some big trouble early here. I don’t think he’s gotten his wits back yet and that takedown attempt seemed evident. McKay stuffed that with ease.

[The two fighters step back in at the same time, and Alistair uses his quickness and timing to perfectly land a punishing shot to the body of Belazco. Xabier winces in pain, clearly affected by the punch, and he immediately takes a step backwards. McKay follows, and Bleazco plants himself in defiance, prompting the pair of warriors to exchange some chaotic, but sloppy punches that gets the crowd on its feet.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

And now we got ourselves a firefight! Belazco and McKay are just unloading on each other! This fight could end at any moment!

[Neither of the fighters seem to get the upper hand at first…. That is until McKay reminds everyone in attendance why they call him “Artillery” by dodging a telegraphed hook from Belazco to crush him with a howitzer of a right hook that turns Xabier’s legs to jello. Herschel Warden steps in to keep a close eye on the action,  calling for Belazco to defend himself, but McKay hammers him with a barrage of nasty follow-up shots! Herschel eventually has seen enough, and he jumps in between the fighters and stops the punishment for Belazco.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

And just like that, this one is all over!

JASON JACKSON
You hate to see it. Alistair McKay answered a lot of questions tonight. This man is the REAL DEAL. Jesus Christ what a punch. You hate to see Xabier get done up like that, but he has a lot to consider as well. It looks like he’s getting back to his feet and is okay...but mentally this is certainly going to be a struggle.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Big win for McKay and as you mentioned at the top of this fight, there may be questions that Belazco needs to answer after the way this fight ended.

[The crowd roars with cheers as Alistair McKay climbs the fence and strikes a pose to celebrate the big win. Medical personnel pour into the octagon and begin tending to Xabier Belazco. Once the staff conclude their duties and help Belazco to his feet, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Herschel Warden has called for a stop in this fight at one minute eleven seconds in the very first round, declaring your winner by technical knockout, “Artillery” Alistair McKay!

[The crowd cheers once again as Alistair McKay has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands and give each other an embracing hug as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[Off in the blurry distance, there’s a group of people going through some boxing drills. But front and center, we have Savannah Skye waiting patiently for her cue. She flashes that contagious smile and draws in her microphone once the red light flickers on the camera.]

SAVANNA SKYE

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here inside the 9th World camp’s locker room, and standing next to me is the G2 Grand Champion, Gauge Lattimore. Gauge, how’s the night going for you?

GAUGE LATTIMORE

Aye it’s going great so far. I’m just here enjoying the fights and helping with preparations for my boy, Asher.

SAVANNA SKYE

That’s great to hear. I wanted to ask you a few questions about yourself. First off, congratulations on the title victory and three title defenses so far in G2. It’s been reported that you have made the decision to move up from Everest into Union. What made you come to that?

GAUGE LATTIMORE
Well, I think it was time. If I hadn’t signed up for the G2 World Fight League, I probably would have stayed in Everest. But I got a lot of experience there and even took down an MMA icon, which I plan on doing again to keep this title. But I wanted to gain some experience before making that step up. I had a rough start in Triumph, but now I feel ready to move up and take on a new level of competition.

SAVANNA SKYE

Speaking of competition, you’re listed as a heavyweight in Union, but from what I’m told, you have signed up to enter the Cruiserweight Championship Contender Grand Prix. Is that correct?

GAUGE LATTIMORE

Yes, that’s correct. Listen. You know I’ve kept quiet while I earn my keep in this sport, but it’s time for a new generation of fighters to take the throne. I’ve been making headlines in Japan, and now I want to shake things up here in the States. I want to make the most of it while I’m here. It’s no days off. I want to fight in G2, I want to fight in Union at Heavyweight, at Cruiserweight. It don’t matter. Whenever. Wherever. Whoever. I’m extending my invitation and accepting all challenges. I want all the smoke.

SAVANNA SKYE

Do you have anyone in mind that you’d like to fight first?

GAUGE LATTIMORE

Deep down, I feel like I can compete with anyone in the top five at heavyweight or cruiserweight. But I know I have to earn my spot, so I don’t care who’s name is on the contract, I’m signing it. These fighters at the top have gotten complacent, they’ve gotten too comfortable. I’m here now and they better be looking over their shoulder, because I’m coming for them! Now if you’ll excuse me, Savannah, I gotta get back with my teammates.

SAVANNA SKYE

Pretty bold statement. Thank you for the time, Gauge. Back to you guys!

UGP26_3-Volkov-vs-Tweeds.png

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 3-1. He stands 6’6”, and weighing in at 265 pounds. He is from Anchorage, Alaska, fighting out of Red Rock Fighting, presenting the number four ranked Heavyweight Contender in the World, “200 Proof” Billy Tweeds!

[Billy Tweeds pounds his chest with a clenched fist as he paces in his corner. Behind the cold, emotionless eyes, he looks ready to leave it all out there and cement his name at the top of the heavyweight rankings.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Coming into this fight on a two-fight win streak, Billy Tweeds is looking to secure a big signature win tonight against a tough, seasoned veteran that would absolutely catapult him into title contention. Tweeds has shown to have some great striking in his arsenal, particularly with his boxing. Big question here, can he stand and trade with the former Olympic Boxer?

JASON JACKSON

Big question indeed. Tweeds is a flat out brawler. He throws massive shots every time he lets his hands go. He’s ALWAYS looking to shut off the lights and win by vicious KO. I think that a true boxer like Big Vik could give this man trouble. If Tweeds can keep his composure and pick his shots well… he has a very good chance of sealing the win here. If he’s unable to keep his punches crisp and accurate though he may find himself in some real trouble.

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 5-3. He stands 6’5”, and weighing in at 250 pounds. He is from Saint Petersburg, Russia, fighting out of Volkov Fighting Institute, presenting the Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight and Heavyweight Title Challenger, and number two ranked Heavyweight Contender in the World, “Big Vik” Viktor Volkov!

[Viktor Volkov is getting himself hyped up, slapping his legs, chest, and arms to get ready for this fight.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Big Vik is back in action after going through hell with the Heavyweight Champion at UGP 24, and he’s certainly looking to get back on the right path. Even though that fight with Kennard Rozier stayed inside the first frame, it was an absolute barn burner and Volkov had the champ in his sights but ultimately fell short. Jason, we know Volkov possesses a world class boxing background, but what changes can we expect to see from the Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Title Challenger?

JASON JACKSON

That was one hell of a battle against Rozier, that is for sure. Edge of your seat action from bell to bell. But that’s his M.O. to be honest. See, I’ve known Vik Volkov for quite some time, Bodie. We belonged to the same Motorcycle Club back in the day, and we have sparred numerous rounds together. He’s an incredible boxer who has been training since the age of 5. His father, Spartak Volkov, who’s a legendary Russian boxing elite in his own right, taught Vik everything he knows today. Volkov has a pretty solid chin and his only real issue pertaining to this fight is that he feeds into these fighter’s games a bit too much and lets trash talk and emotion control the fight. This often leads to over aggression and him finding himself in some hairy situations. I think the key tonight is using his length to fight on the outside and not get drawn into a slugfest with Tweeds. If he fights smart here, I think Vik has all the keys needed to secure a win.

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell announces the first round. Both fighters move towards each other, and Billy Tweeds throws a lazy kick. Volkov manages to block, and keeps his distance. But on his backstepping, 200 Proof tries a middle kick, but Viktor Volkov blocks and steps away again. Billy rushes in and lands a nice round of punches, which make Volkov stagger backwards! Tweeds wants to finish this and continues to launch bombs! Big Vik has taken the worst part of it, as he now has a small cut in his nose!]

JASON JACKSON

Fireworks early here from the big boys and Big Vik is bleeding already. I would NOT want to be on the receiving end of that barrage by Tweeds.

BODIE SULLIVAN

You know, that may be the biggest flaw in Volkov’s game plan. He seems willing to eat the big shots in order to get inside his range. Tweeds has incredible power behind those hands, I’m just not sure how smart of a strategy this will be for Volkov.

[Tweeds launches a furious hook that hits Volkov's chin like a wrecking ball! Volkov loses balance and goes to the mat! That left its mark, as Big Vik’s chin is now bruised after that punishment! Volkov, now on the ground on his back, tries to stand up, but Tweeds’ moves don't allow him to get back on his feet! After a short period of this, Tweeds finally moves backwards and gestures for Viktor Volkov to stand up, which Volkov finally does.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Another big right hand from Billy Tweeds puts Volkov on the mat! Volkov needs to keep his head off the centerline, or this fight will end badly for him.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, this is what we were talking about here. Volkov thinks he can just walk Tweeds down and that is going to end badly. He needs to move his head, use his footwork, and counter fight from outside. If he keeps walking into these shots he’s going to go to sleep.

[Both fighters go at it again. Viktor Volkov is measuring Tweeds with his jab, with good accuracy on his part. He then goes for a looping right hand while Billy jumps back and jabs, but neither one lands anything significant. Soon, Volkov pushes Tweeds and moves away from him. He seems to be recovering his breath and cooling down the fight a bit.]

JASON JACKSON

Vik is trying to cool down the action already. Is he in poor shape here? There’s no way he’s gassed so soon....

[Volkov now circles around Tweeds. He goes for a right hand, but it’s a poorly executed technique, and Big Viks hits nothing but air! Billy Tweeds looks to counter, and Volkov goes for a combo! Tweeds punches back but nobody connects! Billy Tweeds then attempts to cut off Volkov with punches, and Big Vik is reeling from the strikes. But Volkov moves back at it, and both competitors now engage in a wild exchange of punches!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

And now we got a brawl! This fight could end right here!

JASON JACKSON

Let’s go!!! He dug in and is not going out without a fight BIG shots thrown by both men here!

[Viktor Volkov goes for a solid body shot, but Billy Tweeds blocks in time. He tries to get some advantage after Volkov’s missed move… Surprise roundhouse punch! Volkov looks like he was hit by a bus! Tweeds now goes for an overhand right that looks like it was capable of destroying a brick wall, but Volkov moves forward and closes the distance while blocking the punch! Billy Tweeds fakes another punch and shows some footwork moving aside.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

I got to admit, JJ, Billy Tweeds is looking great out there. Volkov has got his work cut out for him!

JASON JACKSON

Look, I called him a brawler earlier and let me retract that and walk it down. He’s boxing out there. Crisp and clean, footwork and head movement on point…. Man… he’s got technique to go with the power. Tweeds is a dangerous man in the heavyweight division… HOWEVER…

[But Volkov is now on the offense! Viktor Volkov just won't stop and continues to rain punches! Tweeds may be in trouble! There is now a cut on his forehead after Voilkov’s assault!]

JASON JACKSON

You can never count Vik out.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Big Vik has found his rhythm and is unloading on Tweeds!

JASON JACKSON

Huge shot lands and Tweeds is bleeding above his eye. A Nasty cut opened up on his forehead, Bodie.

[Caught off-guard by Volkov’s comeback, Tweeds decides not to engage now, and shuffles about the cage. Volkov launches a stiff jab! It barely hits Tweeds's face but it seems like one finger has poked his eye!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Ooh! That was definitely an eye poke. Referee Jordan Ripley has stopped the fight to give Billy Tweeds time to recover.

[Referee Jordan Ripley directs both fighters away from their corner while Tweeds attempts to regain his sight. Volkov is given a verbal warning, given the inadvertent manner. Tweeds looks to be ready and on the official’s cue, the fight resumes.]

JASON JACKSON

Looks like Tweeds is okay. Volkov was given a warning due to the accidental nature and we are back underway.

[Back in action, Volkov launches a furious hook and its payback time! Tweeds is caught right on the chin and gets knocked down! Tweeds is now on his back and Volkov launches a kick to Tweeds's thigh, but Tweeds checks that kick! Viktor Volkov gets sloppy and Tweeds tries to stand up but Volkov doesn’t allow it. Another kick by Volkov, checked by Tweeds. And one more! Billy Tweeds doesn't want to continue the fight in this position and tries to get back on his feet - he moves fast and he manages to stand up!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Billy Tweeds is back on his feet, and now both fighters have scored a knockdown in this round. These two are letting the fists fly!

JASON JACKSON

Thank Samoan baby Jesus I’m not a judge. They just made it impossible for these judges to score this round. Dead even in my eyes so far.

[Both fighters circle each other while cautiously looking for an opening. Volkov goes for some body hooks, and Tweeds’ ribs are getting punished! Brilliant combination from Viktor Volkov that forces Tweeds to try and defend better! 200 Proof is reeling from the strikes as Big Vik tries to cut him off with punches!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Big Vik shows some incredible cage awareness, circling to cut him off, and keeping him stationary.

[Volkov lands a bone-shattering right hand! Tweeds gets rocked but the Anchorage native throws a right hand that gets deflected, and the buzzer sounds to signal the end of the round! Referee Jordan Ripley separates the fighters as the round concludes. The fighters shake hands as they head back to their corners.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Whew wee! What a round for these two! I’d hate to have to judge that round, Jason. Billy came out of the gates, guns blazing, but Volkov weathered the storm and rallied back to finish strong.

JASON JACKSON

Mmhm. In my eyes that was as even as a round could get. It’s a draw. I’ll tell you this though, I’m just happy to be able to enjoy this bout from one of the best seats in the house and not have to worry about judging this close ass fight.

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The second round opens up and both fighters take their time closing the distance. Volkov makes the first move, and goes for another looping right hand while Tweeds jumps back and jabs one more time. Volkov hits, but Tweeds seems unaffected, countering with a few punches of his own. Great exchange here!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

No slowing down for these guys. Both Volkov and Tweeds are setting a very high pace and show no signs of slowing down.

JASON JACKSON

I think the only way this fight slows down is if someone gets their shit rocked. Both of these dudes are badasses of the highest caliber. Neither are willing to back down.

[Volkov and Tweeds again go to exchange punches! Tweeds is getting the best of the exchange as he lands a few blows. He fakes a punch and goes for his footwork again, but Volkov launches a rapid series of punches that take Tweeds from one end of the cage to the other.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Just as I was about to say Billy Tweeds is starting the round off hot again, Viktor Volkov comes firing back and walking him down! This back and forth will make ya head spin!

JASON JACKSON

WHAT A FIGHT!! It’s like watching a tennis match if tennis wasn’t boring. Back and forth, back and forth. The only problem is this can’t go on forever. Someone has to cave.

[Billy Tweeds wants to get the upper hand again! He launches a couple of jabs and then a big hook! Volkov blocks the jabs but the last punch hits hard on his cheek! Big Vik stumbles and falls, and that’s another knockdown from Billy Tweeds! Viktor Volkov’s left cheek is now sporting a considerable bruise!]

JASON JACKSON

OOOOOOH!! DAMN! What a shot!

BODIE SULLIVAN

Another devastating right hand from Billy Tweeds! He’s got Viktor Volkov on Dream Street!

[One more time, Tweeds is standing while Volkov is on the ground on his back, but this time Volkov is fast to get up! He goes for a right hand that makes Tweeds stumble back! Volkov doesn’t give up and again tries his looping right hand. He’s caught by Tweeds’ jab! The Russian fighter seems staggered, Billy Tweeds runs to capitalize with a bunch of jabs and crosses!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

This could be it, JJ!

JASON JACKSON

Volkov is in bad shape! Tweeds is swarming to get the finish here!!

[But Volkov looks for angles as he throws a few jabs that are countered by Billy Tweeds's punches, and soon Tweeds is on the receiving end of a great combo by Volkov! Crisp uppercut by Big Vik and a hard jab, and Billy Tweeds stumbles back again! Volkov goes for a shovel hook that tags the Alaskan native, and he presses the offense with some solid hooks to Tweeds’ ribs! After the intense exchange, Tweeds manages to circle out of danger and Volkov takes the opportunity to recover his breath.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Jason, these two guys are throwing everything at each other and somehow they’re still standing!

JASON JACKSON

This is MMA. This is what it’s all about. Watching fights like this really makes me miss being in there myself. I lived for fights like this. Great job to both of these men. Listen to this crowd.

[Again the fighters move to trade punches! The two throw down wildly once more, and Viktor Volkov gets the upper hand! Volkov takes the best of a brief exchange of tentative punches, and soon he throws a hook that hits its mark! Tweeds is a dead man walking as his legs begin to buckle. Volkov presses on and pressures Tweeds with a suffocating combination. Tweeds gets backed up against the cage and shows no signs of intelligently defending himself. Referee Jordan Ripley is shouting for Tweeds to defend himself, but he’s seen enough! The official jumps in between the fighters and stops the punishment for Tweeds!]

JASON JACKSON

BIG shots here!! Tweeds is in real trouble!! Ripley is watching the action really closely…. He’s telling him to defend himself but Tweeds is turtled up!! That’s it! Big Vik!! Ayeeeeee!!

BODIE SULLIVAN

And this one is all over! Viktor Volkov rallied back from death’s door and put the heat on Billy Tweeds to put this one away! What a finish for the Russian Olympian!

JASON JACKSON

WOW! What a comeback win and what a fight from both of these warriors. Tweeds has NOTHING to feel bad about here. He put on a fantastic show and showed the world he is a threat in this division. He has a fan in me, Bodie. For sure. However, it was Vik’s night tonight and he earned it. He came back from the jaws of defeat and rallied to earn this win. You have to think he has his eyes set on Pluggz again and he has tunnel vision.

[The crowd explodes into cheers and Viktor Volkov is swarmed by his corner crew in celebration. Doctors rush in to tend to Tweeds. After a while, the adrenaline from the building begins to wane and Tweeds is assisted back to his feet. Once the medical staff disperse, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Jordan Ripley has called for a stop in this fight at three minutes eleven seconds in the second round, declaring your winner by technical knockout, “Big Vik” Viktor Volkov!

[The crowd cheers once again as Volkov has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[The scene opens to the clouds rising in fast motion over the Real KILLAS compound. Inside, the lights of the equipment room turn on, where “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman, dressed in his blue tank top and black shorts, is sitting down, face down, shoulders hunched. The flashbacks of the previous fights start showing on the screen.]

UGP #23

[Standing proudly, a bloodied Guilliman gestures for Delaney Donovan to come forward and the Lightweight champion obliges with a brutal hook that lands flush on the Primarch’s chin, and finally turns his lights out.]

JASON JACKSON
Wow…… wooooowwwwww.

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
First I lost the Superfight. Then Cal McCluskey cheats to get me disqualified in the Openweight Title tournament.

UGP #24

[The boo birds pour in as Cal McCluskey has his hand raised in victory. Guilliman is shocked by the referee’s call and is contesting the decision. As Guilliman and Ripley argue, Cal limps toward his corner with the help of his coaches, with a shit-eating grin smeared across his smug face.]

[But at this point, the camera cuts back to the Real KILLAS facility, and zooms in on the face of the former Middleweight Champion - anger and determination now flashing in his eyes, and on his stone-carved face.]

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
And it is time to bring this to an end.

[Guilliman rises from his bench, and exits the equipment room, now standing straight and bumping his fists. He makes it to the makeshift cage with the waiting BJJ Coach Cipriano Carvalho.]

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
It is the way of the KILLAS to always, ALWAYS, make the comeback - no matter how many times we get knocked down. From Roscoe Robinson, to Donnie Calabrese, to Lauren Moore, to Zari Aliyah, to Travis Decker. That is what we live for, that is what we represent.

And I am going to make this right once more, when I challenge for the Middleweight Title, and capture it, again. But before that, there is an old nemesis. Someone who was the first to take away the title from me, as was Asher Jrue. Which makes him the perfect test to come back - because I have done that before, against him, the time I became twice Middleweight Champion.

[The camera now shows Guilliman shadowboxing under the coach’s watchful eye. Strike after strike the Primarch shoots to the air, warming up, before Carvalho brings in a sparring partner. The two of them then begin to circle each other, and the camera transitions to another scene of Guilliman looking at the KILLAS’ achievement wall, where the Middleweight Title belt is represented twice.]

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
Two things hinge on this fight. The first is to become again the number one contender for the belt that I have lost. The second is to repeat the Superfight. Then, and ONLY then, will I believe that I have made things right, and that the comeback is complete.

[This time the camera transitions back to the sparring bout, with Guilliman shooting kick after kick - those trademark head kicks that spell doom for whoever finds themselves on the receiving side. The sparring partner does his best to defend himself, but the onslaught proves to be too much, and soon he finds himself rocked, as Coach Carvalho steps between the two.]

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

And now is the time to take that step, the first step in a very long road. The road to the comeback and the road to the title, and the road to redemption. Who holds the belt after tonight, Travis Decker or Delaney Donovan, matters not. All that matters to me is one thing.

[The camera now shows Guilliman, looking to the outside on the cage, a menacing stare on his eyes, before the scenes transition again to the usual sight of the Primarch holding the Middleweight Title belt, and hoisting it up in the air, to the fans’ delight.]

MIKE DEMPSEY  (Voiceover)
AAAAAAAAAAND NEEEEEEEEEEEW UNION GRAND PRIX MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION, ”THE PRIMARCH”... ROBEEEEEEEEEEEEERT… GUILLIMAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN!...

[One final transition, this time to a close-up of the Primarch’s face.]

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

And all of that is going to require one thing: Asher Jrue going down one more time. I know what he is capable of. So does he about me. But it is not going to make any difference. This is the beginning of the Primarch’s comeback....

[Guilliman launches one of his infamous kicks at the cage, making it wobble and rattle with a tremendous noise and a long-lasting echo.]

“THE PRIMARCH” ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)
… and it is going to start now.

[As the cage lights suddenly turn off, the scene fades to black.]

UGP26_4-Guilliman-vs-Jrue.png

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Co-Main Event of the evening! The following contest is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Division. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Grappler holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 6-4. He stands 5’11”, and weighing in at 175 pounds. He is from Miami, Florida, fighting out of the 9th World Performance Institute, presenting the former Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion and the number five ranked Middleweight Contender in the World, “Simba” Asher Jrue!

[Asher Jrue bounces in place, on the balls of his feet, to stay loose. His eyes are fixated on the mat, zeroing in all of his focus from within while the crowd bellows out a very mixed reaction.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

And here we are! The Co-Main Event and it's the trilogy fight between two former Middleweight Champions. Asher Jrue’s burst on the scene when he shocked the world and defeated Robert Guilliman for the belt. But an immediate rematch saw the title switch hands back into The Primarch’s possession, and Jrue went on a skid, losing two more consecutive fights. After the three fight skid, Asher seemed to have found some momentum, racking up a two-fight win streak. People forget that Asher is just twenty years old. He shows a lot of maturity inside the octagon and has the mentality to stick to his game plan. He’s proven that he can win a fight in all phases of the game, so there’s really no telling what he will try to dictate out there.

JASON JACKSON

He shows a lot of maturity outside of the octagon as well. It’s no secret that there are a few very vocal fighters out of 9th world, and Jrue has always been more of an “actions speak louder than words” sort, and let me tell you his actions speak volumes. This kid is a prodigy. He’s this good now? Just give him 3 or 4 years to finish developing. Win or lose here, I think that there is a long road ahead for Simba. He just needs to keep his head out of the clouds and stay humble and focused like he has been known to be. This is a real test for him tonight though. To see if he’s moving back into title contention, or if he needs a bit more time to develop and refine. Pressure builds diamonds though, Bodie.

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 11-4. He stands 6’1”, and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Los Angeles, California, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, presenting the former two-time Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion and the number three ranked Middleweight Contender in the World, “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman!

[Robert Guilliman gives a ferocious stare down toward his opponent while the referee barks out his instructions to both fighters.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Two-time Middleweight Champion. 2019 Fighter of the Year. Member of a three-time Camp of the Year. Robert Guilliman has done it all, but in his mind, there’s work still to do. The Primarch comes into this fight on a two-fight losing skid, something he’s never had to face in his professional MMA career. He’s not getting any younger, and there’s younger competition quickly climbing the rankings. This trilogy fight against a man who’s had his number in the past will arguably decide whether Guilliman can still compete at the highest of levels.

JASON JACKSON

I think he’s still got it in him. Look at him. Primarch has that killer instinct and I honestly think that he could chop down the Statue of Liberty with his kicks. He’s not getting any younger, but his skills are also not diminishing. He’s able to get out there and knock these younger fighters out cold. I think Guilliman’s biggest enemy is his psyche at this point. He’s  on a skid. He’s  fighting someone who previously knocked him out, and now he’s conceivably staring at falling out of a title picture he reigned over for so long. Can he get over that? Can he put all that aside and just fight? I guess we will see.

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell announces the first round and both fighters quickly close the distance. Asher Jrue doesn’t waste much time and wraps Guilliman up with double overhooks to keep out of Primarch’s lethal kicking range. The two jockey back and forth before Guilliman is able to shrug off and free himself. Off the break, Guilliman rocks Jrue with a straight right and slightly cuts him on the forehead. Jrue counters back with a superb haymaker that connects like a battering ram! Guilliman looks a bit wobbly and just as Jrue closes in on the attack, Guilliman changes levels and catches Jrue's far ankle to trip him to the mat with a slick sweep single!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Woah! Textbook takedown from The Primarch! I don’t think anyone ever saw that one coming.

JASON JACKSON

I sure as hell didn’t. But Jrue clipped him pretty flushly with that same overhand that he knocked him out with before. It surely didn’t feel too pretty. He might be looking to clear the cobwebs a bit.

[On the ground, Jrue manages to close his guard while Guilliman tries to land a few punches. Jrue is able to deflect the strikes and tries to sit up to improve his position. In the scramble, Jrue gets an arm around Guilliman's neck, but Guilliman is quick to push Asher back to the ground and slips one leg free to get a half guard. Guilliman continues to work in his positioning and tries to move to full mount, but Asher Jrue rolls and gets to half guard over Robert Guilliman!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Nice reversal for Asher Jrue. That takedown by Guilliman, although solid, may come back to bite him. Jrue trains with some of the best Jiu-Jitsu practitioners around at 9th World.

JASON JACKSON

This is certainly Simba’s world, that’s for sure. He’s gone back to his roots and has won his last two by submission as well… so Guilliman would be wise to be super cautious here.

[Guilliman tries to move to full guard but Asher keeps good control. A few weak punches from Guilliman get blocked and Jrue fires back with a few punches of his own. Guilliman gets tagged and tries to escape! Jrue tries to force the situation and Guilliman recklessly gives up his back! Jrue immediately tries to sink in a rear naked choke, but Guilliman hand-fights his way out and escapes to his feet! Jrue quickly follows up and as the two regroup standing, the crowd erupts into thunderous cheers.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Ooh very close call for Guilliman. But he took a risk and it ended up paying off, but man he nearly got caught in that rear naked choke. That’s why you don’t want to roll with Asher Jrue, the guy can sense those tight openings and pounce on them before you even realize what’s going on.

JASON JACKSON

There was no hesitation. He gave up his back and Asher went for the kill. Great skill by Rob though to keep calm and scramble back to his feet. That’s the seasoned vet IQ shining bright.

[Guilliman is breathing heavily from the scramble but remains focused and throws some tentative punches as he measures his range. Jrue launches a couple of jabs back, and now Guilliman fires off with a stiff cross! Solid exchange between the two, but then Guilliman connects with a furious leg kick and the impact causes Asher to hyperextend his leg! Jrue doesn’t back down, even if he’s limping, as the two step in and wildly exchange punches.]

JASON JACKSON

Jrue’s leg buckled after that nasty leg kick and he STILL stays in the pocket and trades here. This kid is tenacious.

BODIE SULLIVAN

That’s true warrior mentality, he’ll die on his shield out there.

[Guilliman lands a few solid shots before moving back and taking a few deep breaths. He doesn’t get much of a break though as Jrue walks him down and connects with several nice combinations. Guilliman pushes his opponent off and whips a spinning back kick! Jrue ducks under just in time and hesitates for a moment, seemingly shook from the near miss. The two exchange wildly and a furious flurry of punches from Robert Guilliman puts Asher Jrue in a world of hurt! Jrue eventually circles out of range, revealing a sizable cut on his chin.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Asher is busted open pretty bad. He’s looking a little shaky after seeing his life pass before his eyes with that head kick he narrowly dodged.

JASON JACKSON

Shaky? He’s shitting a brick, and rightfully so. That kick is a night ender if it lands. Simba wants absolutely no part of that.

[Guilliman slowly circles back in and looks for angles as he throws a few jabs that are countered by Asher Jrue's punches. Guilliman tests the durability of Jrue's chin with an uppercut while Jrue lands some great crosses. During the firefight, Guilliman suddenly changes levels and catches Jrue with another textbook sweep single. Jrue and the crowd are both caught off guard, and the spectators cheer on The Primarch for the solid wrestling display.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Another takedown for Guilliman. Although it looks good on the stat sheet, he was doing some damage on his feet, I’m not sure why he decided to take the fight back to the ground.

JASON JACKSON

Your guess is as good as mine, Uce. I feel like he may be getting a little too much pep in his step and Asher could make him pay on the ground.

[As the two hit the mat, they scramble for position and Guilliman settles with the open guard. He lands some weak punches to the face and you can see that they’re bothering Jrue but not causing much damage. Guilliman fakes some punches to open Jrue up and then lands a big punch to Jrue's face! Blood splatters from the chin while Asher looks dazed and Guilliman quickly jumps to full mount!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Robert Guilliman gets the full mount and we could see some bombs dropping soon!

JASON JACKSON

I’m going to be real with you. “Great transitions and ground and pound by Robert Guilliman.” Isn’t something I thought I’d ever say in my life… but great transitions and ground and pound by Robert Guilliman here. Odd. It’s like the twilight zone.

[Jrue remains calm and continues to scramble, but an ill-timed roll exposes him and Guilliman takes his back! With just under a minute to go, Guilliman is breathing heavily but isn’t letting off. He manages to hook a leg but it doesn’t last long, as Jrue uses his ground skills to free up the leg just as the buzzer marks the end of the round. Both fighters shake hands as they head back to their corners and the crowd is fully behind Primarch.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Round one is in the books, and although Asher Jrue had some success, I don’t think anyone will argue that Guilliman takes this round.

JASON JACKSON

Not only did he take the round, he actually took Simba’s back! That's wild, man! Guilly out here grappling folks now. I’m astonished.

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The second round begins to the roar of the crowd. Jrue comes out of his corner looking a little bit frustrated after not getting much going in the last round. Guilliman is looking visibly tired, but his singular focus is still on Simba. As the two close the distance in the center of the cage, Guilliman spins around and tries a spinning back kick! Jrue narrowly ducks under and hesitates for a moment before the two rush in and exchange wildly!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Guilliman misses with the head kick and Jrue is trying to counter, but Guilliman isn’t backing down.

JASON JACKSON

Crazy exchange here, and Bodie… it looks like Primarch is getting tired. Is he running out of gas here from all the grappling and the pace?

[Guilliman is overwhelming Jrue, consistently tagging him with some stinging punches, leaving his body wide open. Guilliman quickly sets his stance and launches another spinning back kick. Jrue anticipates it and covers up his head, but Guilliman instead crushes him right in the liver! Jrue eats the brutal kick right below his ribs and almost instantly folds like a lawn chair! Guilliman rushes in and connects with a few uncontested shots before referee Willie Green pulls him off! He’s seen enough and the fight is over! Jrue was not intelligently defending himself!]

JASON JACKSON

JINGA!! I told you. That kick could take down the statue of liberty, King Kong, Godzilla, Donald Trump’s ego…

BODIE SULLIVAN

Robert Guilliman ends this fight with a vicious liver kick! Asher Jrue got folded like an omelette and there was no coming back!

JASON JACKSON

Hahaha my man said like an omelette. Damn that makes me hungry. Now you’re buying me an omelette after this.

[The crowd explodes into cheers and Guilliman tries to contain his emotions as he calmly walks to his corner. The medical personnel march into the octagon and tend to Jrue. Eventually Jrue is able to stand on his own and once the masses file out, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Willie Green has called for a stop in this fight at forty-five seconds in the second round, declaring your winner by technical knockout, “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman!

[The crowd cheers once again as Guilliman has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back from the break for our station identification, it’s main event time and Jason and I are happy to introduce a special guest commentator for this fight, the number two ranked Middleweight Contender, “The Blasian Buzzsaw” Zion Momo’a. Zion, it’s good to have you sitting here with us. Best seats in the house, and I’m sure you have a few good reasons why you want to be so close to the action for this fight.

ZION MOMO’A

What’s up homies?! Yeah I’ve always been jealous of you commentary dudes because you get to sit right here and see the carnage up close and personal.

JASON JACKSON

I call it the splash zone. I’ve been hit with saliva, sweat, blood… thank god the list stops there.

ZION MOMO’A

Word. Yeah I told Lilly Dunne to take a poop before her first fight so that she didn’t poop in the cage. You’re welcome by the way because at least you didn’t get hit with that in the splash zone. But yeah, I’m here because let’s face it, I’m number two in the rankings, so I see it as I’m up next to fight for the middleweight strap. So here I am. I’m gonna do some advanced scouting.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Well we are happy to have you, although you might not want to touch Jason’s nachos. He might take a finger off.

JASON JACKSON

Hand, Zion. I’ll take your hand off. You’ll be Handofsteel on Twitter instead.

ZION MOMO’A

Word. Copy that big homie.

BODIE SULLIVAN

On that note, let’s turn our attention over as we reach the final walkouts of the evening.

I CAN FEEL IT COMING IN THE AIR TONIGHT, OH LORD

AND I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT FOR ALL MY LIFE, OH LORD

CAN YOU FEEL IT COMING IN THE AIR TONIGHT, OH LORD, OH LORD

[“In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins slowly builds over the loudspeaker and soon Travis Decker emerges to the stage wearing his black and red walkout fight kit with corner crew members following behind. Decker looks focused, but also pays his respects to the crowd as he heads down to the cage.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

It’s been a long time coming for Travis Decker to reach this opportunity. He’s certainly taken the long road, but he looks ready as ever for the chance to become a Union GP Champion. Throughout his tenure, Decker has seen streaks and skids along the way. His longest winning streak of three fights were immediately followed by three defeats. Now he comes in tonight on a two-fight win streak, and is ready to make history.

JASON JACKSON

I told you at the beginning of the night what I think. I think that this is Travis Decker’s golden ticket. I think that if he fights smart, sticks to the outside, keeps to this new refocused standup gameplan, and leaves it all out there that he will leave as the champion tonight. This is his moment. He’s just going to have to seize it.

[Once Travis makes it to cageside, he strips down to his trunks and gets inspected by the fight official to ensure he’s fit to fight and all safety precautions are met. Once he’s been cleared, he gives a quick fist bump to each of his corner mates and makes his way up the steps and stomps into the cage, giving out a loud battle cry before taking his corner. Zion gives his teammate a standing ovation out of respect and salutes him as he passes the commentary table.]

ZION MOMO’A

I’ve already talked to the homie Trav. He knows what it is bro. This is his moment. He’s bringing it home and we’re having our trilogy. That belt should’ve never left.

HER BREATH BEGAN TO SPEAK

AS SHE STOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME

THE COLOUR OF HER EYES

WERE THE COLOUR OF INSANITY

CRUSHED BENEATH HER WAVE

LIKE A SHIP, I COULD NOT REACH THE SHORE

WE’RE ALL JUST DANCERS ON THE DEVIL’S DANCE FLOOR

["Devil’s Dance Floor" by Flogging Molly blasts over the loudspeaker and Delaney Donovan emerges to the stage wearing his Irish flag inspired walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Donovan burrows his head down while slowly walking down the aisle.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Speaking of making history, with our final walkout of the night, is a man who rewrites the history books every time he steps into the cage. Delaney Donovan has been the most accomplished fighter in Union GP history. Amongst the many awards he’s garnered, he’s a two-time Fight of the Year winner and currently the only simultaneous two-division Champion. He has the chance to tack on to his already illustrious career by successfully defending two titles simultaneously. Fellas, can he continue to push the envelope and reset the gold standard?

JASON JACKSON

Double D has impressed me tremendously since day one. I doubted him when he went against Carrick, and he proved me wrong. I doubted him against Guilliman and he proved me wrong…. And it’s not just me. He proved the WORLD wrong. People gave him zero chance in hell of winning that title but he beat one of the best middleweights of all time to secure his spot as a double champ. I just wonder about the pressure. Is he able to handle it. Can he show the world that the hype is real?

ZION MOMO’A

I’m not going to front you bro. Like, I want Trav to win more than anything… but if I’m being honest part of me wants to fight Delaney myself. He’s a bad dude. A challenge. I like challenges. All I know is I’m super hype to get back in there and mix it up with either of these dudes. They both are top tier competition.

[Donovan makes it to cageside where he is checked up on by the fight official. Once cleared, he climbs up the steps and calmly takes his place in his corner while shadow boxing along the way.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Main Event of the evening! Sanctioned by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission, our three judges scoring this contest at cageside are Nicolas Mercado, Rudy Barker, and Brooke Frasier, and when the action begins, our referee in charge in the octagon is Dusty Whittaker. AND NOW, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it’s for the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger, fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 6-5. He stands 6’2”, and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Chicago, Illinois, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, presenting the number one ranked Middleweight Contender in the World, “Ripcord” Travis Decker!

[Travis Decker stays focused within his mind as he bounces in place from side to side.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Muay Thai Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 13-1. He stands 5’9”, and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Belfast, Northern Ireland, fighting out of The ScrapYard MMA, presenting the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion, and the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion of the World, “Double D” Delaney Donovan!

[Delaney Donovan clashes his fists together as he shoots a snarling scowl to the close-up camera.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Alright ladies and gentlemen, this is it. This is why we are all here. The Middleweight Championship is on the line and a victor will be decided in twenty-five minutes or less!

JASON JACKSON

I got the chilly willies.

ZION MOMO’A
Let’s get it..

[Referee Dusty Whittaker makes his way to the center of the octagon and directs both fighters to follow his lead. Mike Dempsey stands close behind and holds the microphone for the official.]

DUSTY WHITTAKER

Okay gentlemen, we’ve gone over the rules in the back. Protect yourself at all times, follow my instructions, touch gloves and let's have a good, clean fight.

[Donovan and Decker respectfully touch gloves and immediately head back to their corners. Dusty Ehittaker checks off with each fighter one last time and calls for the bell.]

OG_RD1.png

[Delaney wastes no time and rushes Travis, launching a flurry of punches as soon as the round begins but only manages to land a few glancing blows. Travis kicks for Delaney’s midsection, barely missing him. Before Delaney can settle his feet, Travis connects with a stiff kick to the side of his leg! Spinning around, Travis then throws his leg up, connecting with a solid spinning back kick to Delaney’s chin, knocking him to the mat.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Oh my god! Delaney Donovan just got rocked!

ZION MOMO’A

YEAH BOY! Oooohoooo! He hit him with the okeydoke.

[Delaney’s team shouts at him from the outside, encouraging him to get back to his feet before Travis moves in. Delaney pushes himself up immediately, only to see Travis’ foot closing in from a kick aimed for his head. Throwing his hands up, Delaney blocks the kick and grabs Travis’ leg, pushing him back a couple of steps. Back on his feet, Delaney then goes on the attack, connecting with a swift combination of lefts and rights. After landing a few, Travis is finally able to defend himself from Delaney’s attack.]

JASON JACKSON

Delaney is getting some shots of his own now. Tit for tat.  He looked to be in real trouble there for a second.

ZION MOMO’A

Yeah, he still looks a little dazed bro.

[The two men size each other up in the center of the cage, circling the mat with their eyes locked on one another. Faking a punch, Delaney causes Decker to throw his hands up, giving him ample time to fire off with a punch from his other hand. Before Delaney connects, Travis stops him in his tracks with a stiff blow to the chin, followed by a quick one-two to the midsection.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Delaney seems to have recovered from the kick, but Decker is pushing a crazy pace right out of the gate.

[Catching Travis off guard, Delaney swings and connects with a vicious right hand. Firing off a left, Delaney then misses as Travis ducks underneath it, catching him with a counter straight. Delaney swings again, but misses as Travis drives a powerful right to the side of Delaney’s head. Travis doesn’t ease up, instead he goes on the attack with rapid lefts and rights, stunning Delaney more and more as each one connects.]

ZION MOMO’A

Man I didn’t realize that Travis had improved that much on his striking lately. He’s looking sharp. He’s after Donovan like a rapid dog.

[Travis throws a few jabs that are countered by Delaney with punches of his own. Fending off a blow, Decker then lights up Delaney with a combination that brings the crowd to their feet. Delaney grabs onto Travis in an attempt to slow the fight down and catch his breath but Travis wasn’t having any part of it. Pushing Delaney away to create some space, it’s back to business for the two.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Decker wanted no part of the clinch and I can’t say I blame him. Right now he’s working a fantastic counter game that’s got Delaney grasping at straws.

JASON JACKSON

Delaney is having a rough start here so far. He can’t seem to figure out the puzzle that is the new and improved Travis Decker.

[After circling the mat once again, the two then explode towards each other in a wild exchange of blows. A left and right from Decker opens things up for a powerful kick that connects to the side of Delaney’s head. Delaney quickly shakes it off and fires back with a quick left, knocking Decker back a step. Coming in, Delaney then swings and connects with a right, immediately followed by a left, both connecting with ease. Throwing back to back solid jabs and connecting, Delaney then switches things up and pounds away at Travis with body blows.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Delaney Donovan is finding a good rhythm now and touching up Decker with ease.

ZION MOMO’A

I mean it’s pretty much even. Back and forth. This is intense! Is it always this intense?

JASON JACKSON

Yep. Be jealous. Our job is better than yours.

[Throwing a right, Delaney misses as Decker shows off his dodging skills, avoiding the blow and following up with a vicious uppercut to Delaney’s jaw. Delaney takes a step back to adjust which prompts Travis to motion for him to come back, even asking Delaney if he came here to fight tonight. Delaney steps back in to make a move, only to get rocked as Travis lands a brutal high kick, a shot heard throughout the entire building as the fans erupt in the aftermath.]

ZION MOMO’A

Damn!!! How’s he still standing?!

BODIE SULLIVAN

Donovan is getting sent to hell with those head kicks! I don’t see how he can keep going if he doesn’t start protecting himself better.

JASON JACKSON

He can’t. Double champ or not, you can only eat so many of those shots.

[Delaney throws a punch in desperation, missing Decker as he sidesteps the attack. Decker then kicks low, only to get blocked by Delaney on the defensive. Firing back, Delaney throws multiple shots to Decker’s body, landing them all except the last that Travis managed to block at the last split second. Firing back with a counter attack, Travis connects with a solid kick to Delaney’s head. In a daze, Delaney doesn’t back down, instead he throws a right, missing yet again as Travis ducks underneath it before the buzzer sounds ending the round.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Now that, boys and girls, was a helluva round! No feeling out process for these guys. Both Delaney and Decker got in some solid offense, but I think it’s safe to say that Travis Decker took this first round.

ZION MOMO’A

By far. There were a few glimpses of something there in that round from Double D but my boy Decker controlled that whole round.

JASON JACKSON

What he said. The demon that has possessed Travis Decker needs to stick around a bit because I like what I’m seeing.

OG_RD2.png

[The second round kicks off and from the looks of it, Delaney appears to still be feeling everything from the first round as his movements are a bit sluggish. Seeing this, Travis moves in quickly to take advantage, swinging and connecting with a combination of punches that Delaney is unable to defend. Throwing his leg into the air, Decker connects with another brutal kick to Delaney’s head!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Decker is playing home run derby with Delaney’s head right now. I’m honestly amazed Double D is still standing.

ZION MOMO’A

Me too. Maybe I don’t want to fight this guy. He’s like Robert Guilliman. I think both of them are fuckin’ terminators dawg. Deadass.

JASON JACKSON

[Silent for a moment] you know what? I can see it. They might be terminators, Uce.

[After a few moments pass, the two circle the mat again before moving in and going on the attack. Exchanging punches, Travis appears to get the better of the exchange as he lands more than Delaney. Trying to shift the momentum, Delaney throws a powerful left out of nowhere only to miss as Decker quickly ducks underneath it. Unleashing a brutal high kick, Travis connects and immediately follows up with another kick to Delaney’s ribs!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Those damn kicks, man. Each one seems to be more brutal than the last.

JASON JACKSON

I’m not sure where THIS Travis Decker came from but I hope he’s here to stay.

ZION MOMO’A

Yeah, he’s been working hard on improving his game and it’s paid off. I’m looking forward to mixing it up with him again when he wins.

[Delaney goes to shoot in for Decker but is almost met with a knee to the face only to avoid it by the grace of god. Throwing a looping right hand, Delaney comes up short as Travis jumps back and connects with a jab of his own. Decker then follows it up with jabs and crosses, followed with a low kick and then a high kick. Travis then leaps in the air and goes for a flying knee, but misses as Delaney throws his arms up and blocks the attack.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Full send! Travis Decker continues to work off the counter and mixing it up very well.

[The two then get into another wild exchange, lefts and rights being thrown from all directions that hit nothing but air. The crowd then roars as Delaney connects with a bone shattering left hand out of nowhere. Decker fires a couple punches to counter but none connect. With Delaney on the lookout for punches, Travis is able to catch him off guard with a hard calf kick to the side of his right leg. Travis then launches a kick for Delaney’s liver that comes up short as Delaney is able to block it.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Alright, good awareness from Delaney. Touch him up and then move out. You know Decker is looking to counter, so it’s smart to keep moving.

JASON JACKSON

That’s something I taught Carrick, which I’m sure he passed on to Double D. Move or die.

ZION MOMO’A

Good lesson. I try to never plant myself if I can help it. A moving target is harder to hit.

[Decker quickly throws back to back jabs following the missed kick, only to have them countered as Delaney lands a stinging right hand which leads into a nasty combination backing Decker to the cage. Delaney swings for Travis face, punching the cage instead as Decker side steps out of the way and lights Delaney up with a fierce uppercut to the chin! Delaney’s seeing stars but still goes on the offensive, swinging at Decker with a blind right hand. He misses again, and again, leaving himself open for Travis to strike with a brutal combination of punches and kicks.]

ZION MOMO’A

He's getting lit up like a raw cone at a Wiz Khalifa concert.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Donovan needs to be patient out there. It looks like he’s trying to force the situation and it’s leaving him exposed for Decker to light him up.

[The crowd roars as Travis executes that combo. Blocking another punch from Delaney, Travis launches a huge right hook, coming within an inch of connecting as Delaney barely dodges the blow. Before Delaney could even attempt a counter, Travis kicked his foot up, planting it in Delaney’s midsection and knocking him backwards into the cage. Instead of moving in towards Delaney against the cage, Decker takes a few steps back and catches his breath, keeping a close eye on Delaney.]

JASON JACKSON

Interesting choice as Decker opts to cool down the pace instead of pushing forward.

[Pounding his fist into the palm of his other hands, Travis then goes back on the hunt, heading straight for Delaney against the cage. Aiming a kick for Delaney’s head, Travis kicks the cage instead as Delaney ducks under and fires away with a quick right hand, grazing Travis’ side as he pulls his leg back and spins in place. Coming back around, Decker drives into Delaney’s face with a spinning back fist, sending him a step back, slamming into the cage! Throwing a stiff right, Decker connects with another brutal punch to the side of Delaney’s head!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

This is a very bad position for Donovan to be in. Decker has him boxed in and just teeing off

JASON JACKSON

It’s getting ugly. It seems like Double D is just in survival mode now.

[Decker tries to capitalize but doesn’t get far before Delaney grabs ahold of him and moves the fight back to the center of the octagon. The two get into another exchange, this time Delaney getting the best of Decker. Travis throws a jab but eats a right hand to the mouth before his jab can even connect. Delaney connects with another, and another, knocking the wind out of Decker with massive body shots.]

ZION MOMO’A

Smashing the wind right out of him. Those body shots are brutal.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Delaney is rallying back with some well-timed striking. This is what’s been working for him. He’s going to have to be surgical with his striking and pick Decker apart.

[Delaney steps in, but immediately stops as Decker kicks for his midsection. Avoiding the kick, Delaney then steps in again but Decker kicks high, this time for his head. Dodging the kick, Delaney tries to close the gap between the two but Decker finally connects, catching Delaney off guard with a nasty kick to the knee!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Oooh! He’s hurt!

JASON JACKSON

His knee buckled there.

[Delaney nearly loses his balance but regains it before falling down. Decker quickly moves in to strike but as he draws his fist back, the buzzer sounds and brings this round to an end.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Saved by the bell! Another big round for Travis Decker and right now, Delaney looks lost out there. He’s got nothing to answer back.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah I’ve got it 2 rounds to none for Decker. He looks like a man possessed. He wants that gold.

ZION MOMO’A

I love seeing it. I told you this was his moment.

OG_RD3.png

[The third round begins and right on queue are both fighters in the center of the cage, wasting no time as they quickly engage in an action packed exchange of punches. Decker seems to be getting the best of Donovan as he lands more blows than his opponent. The two then break apart and circle the center of the cage. Delaney hits Decker with a jab that barely fazes him at all. Faking another jab, Delaney then swings lower, planting his fist right into Decker’s midsection.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Delaney has been finding some success when going to the body. He might want to explore that option a little more, soften up Decker along the way and get back in this fight.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, it might be worthwhile to take some wind out of his sails. He needs to do something to slow Decker down.

ZION MOMO’A

Clinching might not be that bad of an idea either. Close the gap so he can’t kick you and focus on dirty boxing.

[Delaney throws another punch but Decker blocks it quickly. With Delaney now exposed, Decker kicks his foot to the side of Delaney’s ribs. Delaney fires back with a looping right hand, connecting with Decker as he jumps back and connects with a counter. The punch doesn’t seem to bother Decker much as he continues throwing punches of his own. Delaney bobs and weaves Decker’s punches before dodging a spinning back kick out of nowhere! Grabbing onto Decker, Delaney gets him secured with double underhooks.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

That’s the Double D we’ve come to know. Great timing to elude those strikes and tie Decker up in the clinch.

ZION MOMO’A

I think he heard me, homie. That's wild. Great clinch attempt tho. He can use this clinch to take control and turn the round in his favor.

[Decker tries to squirm his way out of the clinch but Delaney isn’t letting up. Throwing multiple punches at Delaney, Decker connects with a few hard shots, fighting to escape from Delaney. Leaving his torso exposed, Decker practically invites Delaney to pound on his ribcage and Delaney answers the call. He connects with a few punches to Decker’s body before Decker finally manages to block them. Pushing away and ripping himself from Delaney’s hold, Decker then shoots for Delaney’s leg and takes him down to the mat. Decker fights to get position on Delaney but struggles as Delaney won’t give him anything.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Decker leaning into his wrestling background and brings the fight to the mat. Both of these guys can hold their own, so this may get interesting.

ZION MOMO’A
His takedowns are relentless when he wants to be. He smothered me like some Waffle House hash browns in our first fight. That shit was mad exhausting bro.

[Decker continues fighting for position over Delaney and this goes on and on and on, resulting in nothing but great defense from Delaney. Eventually, Dusty Whittaker steps in and breaks the two up, bringing the fight back to their feet due to lack of activity.]

[Back on their feet, Decker connects with a solid low kick, immediately following it up with a vicious high kick! The two circle the mat momentarily before Donovan fakes a move and throws an uppercut, failing to connect as Decker blocks it. Decker then launches a low kick but Delaney manages to block it before connecting. Delaney slows down the fight as we close in the final thirty seconds of the round. Moving in, Decker then kicks high and connects with a hard right kick to Delaney’s eye, cutting his brow!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Donovan has got a nasty gash over his eye there, that could pose a problem for him.

JASON JACKSON

Cuts like that tend to cause vision problems once they start dripping blood into your eyes. That’s the last thing he needs right now.

[The two engage in an exchange of punches, both connecting and hitting harder and harder each time. Decker begins to get the upper hand as the momentum shifts in his favor. Connecting with more punches than Delaney, Decker dodges a dangerous strike from Delaney and counters with a stiff straight! Before he can follow that up, the buzzer sounds and brings this round to an end.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Round three is in the books. I’d say that was by far the best we’ve seen of Delaney through fifteen minutes of this fight, but is it enough for the judges to score it as such? Decker finished strong, and you have to believe he’s up at least two rounds. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a 10-8 score on the cards. But now we head into championship rounds, a place Delaney is very familiar with, and Decker, not so much. Could we see a turning of the tides here?

JASON JACKSON

We head into the deep waters and this is make or break time for a lot of fighters. This is when that gas tank is truly tested. This is where your patience and your training camp are tested. This is where champions are made. Whoever capitalizes on these next two rounds will be our winner.

OG_RD4.png

[Travis opens the round with a high kick that can be heard all the way back in the nosebleeds. Decker fires with a kick to the midsection, failing to connect as Delaney is able to block it and step back. Decker then kicks low, this time connecting to the side of Delaney’s leg. Decker then aims to take Delaney’s head off with a vicious high kick but barely misses Delaney as he dodges it. Before Delaney can get his feet settled, Decker kicks again, landing a second kick to the side of Delaney’s leg!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Donovan is an Irish Zombie out there. He keeps eating those violent kicks but somehow, some way, he’s still standing.

ZION MOMO’A

Terminator.

JASON JACKSON

Yep, Terminator. No other explanation. A normal human should be dead.

[Decker throws a hook to Delaney’s body, missing as Delaney blocks it before impact is made. Firing back, Delaney unloads with a series of punches, backing Decker across the cage. Retaliating, Decker launches a body shot, missing as Delaney counters with a right hand. Side stepping Delaney’s punch, Decker counters with a high kick that stops Delaney in his tracks, drawing a huge pop from the crowd.]

ZION MOMO’A

Jesus. Another one.

[Delaney swings with a hook, grazing the side of Decker’s arm and failing to connect. Swinging his leg around, Decker lands a stiff kick to Delaney’s midsection. Delaney throws a right, missing Decker and leaving himself for Decker to connect with a low kick. With his other leg, Decker then connects with a huge high kick! Decker swings rapidly at Delaney, forcing the two into going toe to toe. Decker gets the best of Delaney yet again, landing more than his opponent. Putting all of his power behind it, Decker throws and connects with a devastating blow to Delaney’s jaw that nearly breaks it!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Travis Decker is just on fire with those counter shots. He’s on another level right now.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, championship level. He’s hungry for glory and nothing is going to stop him from becoming the next middleweight champion.

[Decker then launches a furious hook, hitting Delaney’s chin like a wrecking ball, knocking him off balance as he falls to the mat. Delaney tries to push himself up from his back but before he can manage to do so, Decker closes in like a shark in the water at the scent of blood. Kicking as hard as he can, Decker plants his foot to the side of Donovan’s thigh. He kicks again and again, connecting with back to back kicks that raises the noise level from the crowd.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Decker better be careful with those up kicks. You’d hate to be dominating the fight up to this point and then get separated from your senses with a kick from a guy on his back.

ZION MOMO’A

I’d retire if that happened to me. No way. That’s horrible luck for something like that to happen.

[Decker goes to kick again but he’s too late, Delaney pops back up to his feet, exploding towards Decker with a series of punches. Delaney connects with a left and then a right, catching Decker completely off guard. Decker delivers a stiff front kick to Delaney, stopping him in his tracks and sending him back a step. Delaney goes to swing at Decker but opens himself up for a rapid combination of punches from Decker. The two then wildly throw punches at each other in an exchange, both failing to connect as they slowly tire themselves out.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

These guys are throwing everything at each other, including the kitchen sink!

[Delaney’s punches are countered by Decker who answers back with a few jabs of his own. Decker then connects with another low kick before following it up with a stinging high kick once again! Swinging with a powerful hook, Decker drives his fist into Delaney’s chin, knocking him off balance again and down to the mat. Decker quickly steps in and lands a loud kick to Delaney’s thigh. Delaney then goes to stand up but gets pushed back down by Decker before he turns his back to him and the buzzer ends the round.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Another round down, and we have just five minutes to go! I honestly don’t know how we’re here, still calling this fight, but Donovan just doesn’t have an ounce of quit in him. Decker scores two knockdowns in this round, and you have to think at this point, Delaney’s only shot at winning this fight is a finish.

JASON JACKSON

I’ve got every single round at 10-9 so far in favor of Decker. If Delaney doesn’t finish this fight this round we are going to have a new champion. Mark my words.

ZION MOMO’A

Shit is getting real fam.

OG_RD5.png

[The crowd is electric as we kick off the fifth and final round of the fight. Delaney goes on the offensive from the beginning, going for Decker’s body but failing to connect as Decker fends him off. The two circle the center of the mat momentarily before Delaney swings for Decker’s head, missing as Decker side steps him and lands a pulverizing punch to Delaney’s face, cutting his nose.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Donovan’s face looks like it’s been sent through a meat grinder.

JASON JACKSON

He’s a bloody mess, for sure. He keeps fighting through the adversity though, like a true champion.

[Travis follows up with a devastating high kick to Delaney, cutting his left eye. The crowd cheers for Delaney whose face is covered in blood from the various cuts throughout the fight, his blood even staining the mat. Decker fires with another high kick, connecting again! Travis then swings his other leg around and connects with a kick to Delaney’s shin, hyper-extending Delaney’s leg.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Oh god, that looks bad! That kick could have caused some major damage to the knee.

ZION MOMO’A

He almost gave homie flamingo legs. Bent that shit backwards and allat.

[The two get into another exchange, Decker gaining momentum as he lands more than Delaney. Faking a low kick, Decker surprises Delaney with a high kick, causing him to bleed even more from his left eye. Decker doesn’t ease up, he keeps Delaney within arms length and keeps firing away with a nasty combination. Delaney slips by a right hand Decker throws, following up with a stiff jab. Delaney throws another punch, but Decker deflects it.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

This is all about pride at this point for Donovan. It doesn’t look like there’s a glimmer of hope for him to salvage this fight.

[Delaney’s body turns as his other arm swings around, greeting Decker with a thunderous right hand. Delaney then swings with his left, missing Decker as he ducks underneath and counters with a brutal high kick. The two exchange hands again, this time Delaney getting the upper hand on him. Travis fakes a low kick, grabbing Delaney’s attention yet again and leaving him exposed for a quick high kick that nearly takes his head off!]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Donovan just cannot get anything going. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel for Decker at this point.

JASON JACKSON

Utter domination here from start to finish. I honestly thought this would be a much more competitive and close fight but…man..

[Delaney fires back with a jab to Decker’s face. Faking a punch, Decker then kicks Delaney with a liver kick! The two then get into another small exchange in the center of the cage. Once again, Travis gets the upper hand over Donovan. Delaney throws a hook to Decker’s body, barely missing as Decker quickly steps aside. Delaney throws another hook for Decker’s body, failing to connect a second time in just a matter of seconds. Connecting with a low kick, Travis puts on a display with yet another brain rattling high kick to Delaney.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

This is getting hard to watch now. The referee should seriously consider stopping this fight.

JASON JACKSON

Yeah, this is rough. He’s eating a lot of damage and I’m not sure where the ref draws that line. I don’t think he’s going to let Donovan keep absorbing this much abuse.

[Travis stays on the offensive, launching a flurry of punches and connecting with nearly every one of them as Delaney struggles to defend himself. Noticing that Delaney was having a hard time seeing due to the blood in his eyes, Decker went to capitalize, launching another liver kick that nearly brought Delaney to his knees. Decker circles Delaney before stepping in with a high kick that misses. They go back to circling the mat as we’re closing in on the final seconds of the fight.]

ZION MOMO’A

Ten seconds left and we have a new champ.

[Bleeding all over the mat, Delaney wants to keep the distance between them minimal as he closes in. Decker tries to keep distance but there’s only so far he can go before closing in on the cage. Donovan goes to shoot for Decker’s leg, failing to wrap it up as Decker hops back and counters with a powerful kick to the side of the head. Decker then follows up with an even more powerful kick to Delaney’s ribs. Delaney buckles from the impact but before he knows it, Decker lights him up with another vicious high kick as the final buzzer immediately follows, ending not only the round but the fight as well.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

And that’s it, folks. Twenty-five minutes of absolute insanity. All the props for Donovan for going the distance, but it’s safe to say, we have a new Middleweight Champion.

JASON JACKSON

No doubt about it indeed. It’s unanimous. It has to be. Decker came in like a man possessed and controlled this entire fight. Zion, you say you got next? You have your hands full.

ZION MOMO’A

Looking forward to the challenge. It’s been a long time coming for Decker though and he’s earned this. Let’s let him enjoy the moment of his title win and we can talk about our trilogy later.

[Not a soul is in their seat as the crowd is in pandemonium. Both fighters are completely exhausted and hang onto the fence to support themselves. The medical personnel pour into the octagon and immediately check on the fighters, particularly Delaney. The cheers eventually subside to a dull roar once the medics finish their work and begin to file out. Slowly, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

[The crowd cheers once again as Decker has his hand raised in victory and the belt wrapped around his waist. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. [As Jason Jackson finishes up his part of the recap, we switch gears back inside the octagon, where Bodie Sullivan stands next to Travis Decker, with a mic in hand.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m standing here, next to the NEW Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion, Travis Decker. Travis, how does that feel?

TRAVIS DECKER

To be honest, Bodie, it sounds amazing to hear, but it doesn’t feel real yet. I’ve worked so hard to finally get to this point, to get this opportunity, and I didn’t want to waste it away. You just never know how things will play out in this sport. Many great fighters never reach this stage. I came into this fight with the mindset that this could be my one and only shot at greatness. And as you could see, I left it all out there.

BODIE SULLIVAN

You absolutely did. Now let me ask you, what was going through your mind throughout the entire fight? You were landing some vicious head kicks and yet Delaney Donovan never backed down.

TRAVIS DECKER

I knew Delaney was going to be a tough opponent. The guy’s won like ten straight fights against the best in the business. So I knew I had to come at him early and often. I wanted to set a fast pace early, and hopefully wear him down. I’ve got nothing but respect for Delaney. The guy is a true professional and someone who’s not afraid to chase greatness. But tonight was my night.

BODIE SULLIVAN

What do you have planned going forward? I’d imagine you’d want to spend some time at home with family and heal up.

TRAVIS DECKER

Yeah, I’ll go home and enjoy this win with my closest loved ones for a little while, but I’m ready to fight. The target is on me now, so I’ve got to be ready to go.

BODIE SULLIVAN

Who do you want next?

TRAVIS DECKER

That’s the beauty of holding this strap, Bodie. I don’t make the call outs. I know Guilliman won tonight, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to run it back with another Killa. That man sitting in the front row.

[Decker points at Zion Momo’a, who’s standing with his arms stretched out with a smile on his face.]

TRAVIS DECKER

I owe him a fight. What do ya say? Let’s make it a Killa Party!

[The crowd cheers as Decker steps back from the mic. Both Decker and Momo’a stare each other down, playfully bantering back and forth.]

BODIE SULLIVAN

Well there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Give it up for the new Middleweight Champ, Travis Decker!

[The crowd nearly drowns out Bodie Sullivan while Decker and Momo’a remain locked in on each other. Eventually, Decker breaks off and celebrates with his corner as the feed fades out.]
