EVENT: UGP #4 Press Conference
VENUE: Golden Nugget Showroom
LOCATION: Atlantic City, New Jersey
DATE: Friday October 26, 2018 @ 8:00 PM ET
[The scene opens up inside the Golden Nugget Showroom in Atlantic City, where the room overall is dimly lit, but the light display that bounces off the walls and pierces through the crowd flashes silhouettes of a room packed with emphatic excitement. As the music pounds through the PA, the final media members take their seats and not long after, UGP President Dante Reed emerges onto the main stage. A roaring applause ensues, cuing the music to fade out while Dante makes his way to the center podium. Once he takes his stance, the fighters scheduled for the biggest event in Union GP's early history follow behind and take their reserved seats while the crowd erupts into pandemonium. Reporters and fans alike have been waiting patiently for this event to finally come. Dante gestures for the crowd to quiet down as he adjusts his tie and begins his opening statement.]
DANTE REED
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the official press conference for UGP #4! Tonight is a very special night in that we prepare for the event that we crown our first champions of the company! I am very proud and honored to be a part of this company, and it's all because of these warriors sitting here around me. Without them, this place wouldn't exist, obviously. But these men and women have shown that they are the biggest names in this industry, and the feedback that we have received after each show thus far has proven it. So without me wasting anymore time, allow me to turn it over to you fine men and women that have been salivating for answers.
[Dante eases back at the podium as a sea of reporters launch their hands high in the air, waiting to be called upon.]
Unlike in previous press conferences, The youngest member of the roster isn't messing with his phone and Is dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and blue tie. Reporter steps up and looks toward Jordan Parker - Kane.
Bleacher Report:
Steven Rondina, with Bleacher Report. Looking good tonight.
Jordan leans forward and smiles.
JPK:
Thanks. It's kind of a big deal tomorrow. Figured I'd dress up.
Bleacher Report:
Would it be fair to say that tomorrow night is the biggest night of your young career?
JPK:
Feels like that has been said about my last several fights, but it's quite true. Though, I guess being nineteen that statement will probably be made more often in the future.
Bleacher Report:
You've never faced anyone quite like Hanako Takeuchi before. How do you feel about your chances?
Jordan offers a small shrug.
JPK:
If I didn't believe I could do it, I don't belong here. This is a classic clash of styles. Which could end up in an epic fight that goes the full five rounds or one of us catches the other just perfectly and ends it early. Her strikes are deadly, and I have to find a way to avoid those while still trying to take the fight to her.
Jordan pauses to take a sip of water.
JPK:
I admit I don't know a lot about who Hanako has or hasn't faced in her other ventures. It's clear she's doing quite well for herself. All that gold over there, yet still finds a way to relate to the “common people”. It's inspiring… Again, who she has or hasn't faced there, I don't know, but I'm fairly confident she's faced few if any like me. I know that is definitely the case here. I'm no deathmatch wrestler, but as I have said in the past I am willing to push myself further than most to get what I want.
Jordan stops and leans back as if he done with the question. A reporter sits and a new one approaches.
Before he can ask anything, Jordan leans forward again.
JPK:
If you would allow me, I'm gonna tell a quick story…. About five years ago I got a call from someone in Slaughterhouse New York. I was asked to come in and spare with a trainee there. I had actually been denied membership into Throne shortly before then. At that time they weren't accepting people under the age of eighteen. Anyway, I got there and they had this guy there that they wanted me to spare and train with. I don't remember who it was, but I overwhelmed him Not with strength great strikes, but with pure speed that he couldn't touch. You see I wasn't brought in because I had impressed someone and they wanted me to join. I was brought in so a trainee could have a laugh about kicking the crap out of me. Yet, what happened. I embarrassed him. It just so happened on that day James Shark was there. He watched the entire thing and the first words he ever spoke to me…. “Speed… Kills”. The rest is history.
Now I don't tell that story try and imply that Hanako is like that guy or that I'm going to overwhelm her. She's probably seen too much to truly be overwhelmed. What I am saying is that those strikes are deadly, and IF she catches me it could be over for me. However, she has to catch me.
Jordan peaks down the line toward Hanako.
Bloody Elbow:
Tim Bissell, with Bloody Elbow. What are your thoughts on the situation with Slaughterhouse Oahu?
Jordan shakes head, knowing this was coming.
JPK:
I respect Jason and his accomplishments. I'm sure he had his reasons who deciding I shut it down, but I'm not getting into that.
BloodyElbow:
And the Slaughterhouse fight nights?
JPK:
It's great, I'm excited about it. I'm waiting to get more information in terms of the dates, to see how it fits into my schedule. It's definitely something I want to be a part of in some capacity. As Fisk pointed out, that main event… Gonna be crazy.
Sherdog:
Matt McNulty with Sherdog. Your opponent tomorrow doesn't seem to have a high opinion of you or your family history. Thoughts?
Jordan starts to answer but stops himself to think on the answer. He had been trying not to let the comments bother him, but being asked about them makes it hard for him not to go off about it.
JPK:
Just as she had some facts wrong with Lux, she has some wrong here. Yes, I come from a well-known wrestling family. That's no secret. However, being one of the many children of Brad Kane isn't quite the advantage you think it is. I didn't even know I was about of that family until I was 13-14 years old, even this it's only because the woman who adopted me sought out my biological family. Do you know why that was?
So much for the idea of not going off. Jordan shakes his head and looks back at the crowd.
JPK:
She had an inoperable brain tumor and was dying. That is the reason I know my family's name. Has being a Kane opened some doors, yeah it has, and anyone in my position would have walked right through them the same as I have. To say otherwise is a lie. Don't get things twisted though. I worked my ass off to get to this point. I signed a wrestling contract with Hard Knox Wrestling at the age of 15. I made a name for myself and was able to sign endorsement deals. I earned my own fucking money. When Brad Kane died I didn't get a dime.
Jordan sits back and glares. No one is quite sure what to say for a moment. He sits back up and continues.
JPK:
Yes, I've had opportunities that others haven't. I won't apologize for that. There isn't a damn person in this room that wouldn't have taken them if they were in my shoes… You think I haven't sacrificed? That I don't know hardship? Ask your boy what I sacrificed, what hardships I've had. Ask him how much work I put in, who it to snapped away just like that.
Jordan snaps his fingers.
JPK:
Better yet, get a subscription of the Evolve Network and watch the October 26th, 2016 of RISE. You can see for yourself what hardships I've had. What adversity I've had to overcome.
He glares over towards Hanako before shaking his head and pushing away from the table.
JPK:
I'm done, see you all tomorrow…
He shakes his head and walks away, as microphone catches him saying “Fucking self-righteous bitch” to himself as he walks out.
MMA FIGHTING: Hanako, your first two Union GP fights saw you get first round knockouts and win Performance of the Night both times. [We cut to “The Black Rose” Hanako Takeuchi of Real Killas MMA. She has three title belts in front of her, from right to left: Union Battleground Battalion Championship, Iron Japan Shoot Crown Championship, and RCW Artemis Championship. Takeuchi wears a black, buttoned professional office dress with full sleeves and burgundy cuffs. There's an air of devilry in her slight smirk as she looks to the journalist with magisterial eyes.] You're now in the final for the Lightweight Championship against Jordan Parker-Kane. How do you feel going into this big fight? [Takeuchi smiles and speaks in what's now a familiar Osaka-American accent.] TAKEUCHI: These are the fights we all strive for but there's more to this than the possibility of being Union GP Cruiser-light-whatever-the-fuck-weight Champion. I have main event aspirations and don't think that's too wild of a dream. Like you said, I got Performance of the Night twice. What did they say on commentary? That I could sell the show on my own. That's all apparently not good enough to make someone's “who's hot” list, but I have something to build off of and this fight can solidify my assertions. For the actual fight itself, JPK will probably have the same plan Lux Forte had and that's try to stand with me as little as possible. Lux, in her infinite wisdom, thought the answer was to... well, to stand with me. And as good as she may be at the stand-up game, that didn't end well for her as she leaps from the deck of the now-sunk Slaughterhouse Oahu and falls into the safety net of her dad's new gym. By the way, what was I fucking saying the last time I did one of these? How fitting is Pulp's “Common People?” Anyway, JPK will throw a different set of questions at me. I'm confident in having the answers and more. If he tries taking it to the ground, it becomes a clash in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu because our training differs. We're skilled in different aspects of the discipline. But he has a taller task than me. If we're on our feet, then everyone knows we're in my world. And where do fights start? On our feet. MMA MANIA: What are your thoughts on Slaughterhouse Oahu closing? TAKEUCHI: [Looks over at Fisk.] It's the same woman. What the hell? [Chuckling, Takeuchi looks back at the reporter.] Honestly? Nothing of value was lost.
Then there's those coming from there and are searching for somewhere else. Sometimes one person can blow it and make everyone else look like shit. Then that stink follows the others. People start talking. “Oh, they were at that gym where the owner was a bitch.” They'll probably have to work twice as hard as everyone else from here until the stink passes. But that's how it is. That's why you need to look out for one another. That doesn't mean sucking each other's dicks and confirming viewpoints without question. Patting each other on the head and saying, “It's okay. Those people are just meanies.” My dad taught me that birds like a feather flock together and you can tell a lot about someone by the company they keep. Is that the company you want to keep? Because we might support each other like family at Real Killas, but we'll also hold each other accountable. We just had to do that with one of our own and all parties mutually agreed to split. It didn't drag out. 44 stepped in and took care of it. 44 keeps it real and he knows we'd do the same for him as we all do for each other. Because we're not bitches. We're made of steel, and steel sharpens steel. That's something these people should keep in mind when looking for a new gym. [Takeuchi shrugs.] But hey, those are my thoughts. What they do with them doesn't bother me. They can tattoo it on themselves or flush it down the toilet. Regardless, I'm the one who's carrying the Iron Japan Shoot Crown Championship and is looking to add a fourth belt to my collection tomorrow night. And another Performance of the Night too. BLOODY ELBOW: Was that your recruitment pitch for Real Killas? TAKEUCHI: No. MMA JUNKIE: At the last press conference you were in, you seemed to cut a wrestling promo on Lux Forte when comparing your different backgrounds. Your opponent this time just turned nineteen in July and you mentioned how you didn't get the chance to even be in a dojo until your mid-20's. How do you feel about all this? TAKEUCHI: Well, I made it clear last time that I'm not a fan of these famous families. I'm not a fan of these child prodigies either, but it's harder to shit on them. A part of me wants to say, “It's not about how old you are, but what you know.” In the case of Jordan Parker-Kane, he obviously knows enough about MMA to land himself a spot in this Union GP Lightweight Championship match. Fair enough, right? He has the skills to get this far. However... The other part of me says, “Fuck this guy.” And not just because he's in the “Too Long, Didn't Read, Too Stupid To Get It Anyway So I'mma Play On My Phone During Pressers” Club. Do you know how much of one's own money an average fighter has to put into things such as training camps, pre-fight medicals, travel expenses, domestic and sometimes international taxes? The medical costs? Or other expenditures such as food for the coaches? The answer? It's more than the average teenager can afford. Now I've seen some teenagers put together some incredible things with the help of those around them. There's families who make great sacrifices to see loved ones reach their goals. I get that. Was that the case for Jordan Parker-Kane? No. He's from another one of those wrestling families. Jesus fucking Christ! You're going to make me invoke the working class again? But there's always something they draw whenever they're called out so they can pop those misery boners for the Gloom Olympics. They can never just accept that they're more fortunate than most people. There's always a fucking spin. “Holy shit you guys! JPK really does understand hardship! His twelfth grade math class was super hard!” Yes, I know he once had a major injury. He came back. That takes something, no doubt. But it's all sports shit. It's all in a bubble. The average teenager is fucked if they get that hurt early on because then it becomes even harder to support themselves while coming up. Like 44 and I keep saying – we want to bring back the real MMA. Where's the other former bartenders like me? Where's the bus drivers and warehouse workers? Where's the dockers? Where's fucking anybody who actually needed to get a job knowing they couldn't get someone to stop their hardship with a phone call? I couldn't let Lux Forte win last time. I can't let Jordan Parker-Kane win tomorrow night for the same reasons as before. This is for the people. [Before another journalist can ask a question, Takeuchi talks again.] Because Real Killas is for the people. They say you love us or hate us. Funny. The only people who seem to hate us are other gyms and fighters. But listen to those crowds. North, south, east, or west. They cheer 'cuz they know RK's the best. Real recognizes real. COMBAT PRESS: You won the poll at 59% to Jordan's 41%. TAKEUCHI: Who cares? I mean, yeah. It's great that so many have me down to do the business tomorrow night, but how many times do we go over this? Fights aren't won in the polls. COMBAT PRESS: One more question. Not to get too far ahead and overlook David Troy, but what happens if you lose tomorrow night but retain the Iron Japan Shoot Crown Championship on November 13th? You keep saying you'll offer someone a shot if they beat you outside of Iron Japan. TAKEUCHI: And I'll say it again. If JPK wins tomorrow then he can shoot for the whole hog and try to take everything from me if he's feeling lucky. But yeah, let's not overlook David Troy. FLO COMBAT: Everyone always wonders what condition you're in going into these fights. How are you feeling going into this one? TAKEUCHI: My schedule was much lighter going into this one than the last one. No crazy deathmatches. All I've had to do is stay in Long Beach and train after working that Iron Japan show a few days after the Lux fight. I'm ready to go! MIXEDMARTIALARTS.COM: The K-Squad Punks are in town. [A boisterous “waheeeeey” sparks from the crowd. Takeuchi does a “raise the roof” gesture.] How do you feel about their presence and could it affect the match tomorrow? TAKEUCHI: I'm always grateful for the K-Squad Punks. I grew up with a lot of the Kamagasaki guys and girls. Masatake [Kawamata] and I came up with those guys who all make up the Kansai punk scene that revolves around Osaka. Considering what some of them do for a living, I don't know how they afford the travel in Japan let alone these trips to Mexico and now Atlantic City. It's probably best not to ask. But they're a rowdy bunch. Can they affect the match? Of course. They bring an electric atmosphere. Especially with the numbers they bring. MIXEDMARTIALARTS.COM: Do you think they can get under Jordan's skin? TAKEUCHI: We'll see. MIXEDMARTIALARTS.COM: And do you feel an extra sense of responsibility after all of them traveled to be here? Does that create more pressure? TAKEUCHI: I always feel responsibility for the things I represent. Kamagasaki, Osaka, Japan, Death Trip Wrestling, the Death Dojo, Filth Parade, and last but definitely not least – Real Killas MMA. I hold belts in Union Battleground, Iron Japan, and Rose City Wrestling. I need to make those belts and companies look good. I'm the only Japanese person in the Lightweight Division. Just that alone is huge. It was always going to be and there was always going to be many who feel strong enough to travel for this fight. But it's a pressure I'm used to. That's the life of Hanako Takeuchi. I'm high-in-demand. Promoters all over the world book me and fans come out. They all expect to see a once-in-a-lifetime striker every time I walk through that curtain. They have every reason to expect it because that's what they paid for. Tomorrow night won't be any different in those regards. I must bring the house down.
[Now Fisk came into Union GP thinking he would see this day. The Killas believed it and knew he would see this day. Many of the fans, the Killa Militia, and the real supporters knew it would be coming but now that it’s here. For Daniel Fisk Jr to be sitting in front of the hundreds inside of the Golden Nugget Showroom at this time. He felt it now. He felt the hint of it when the UGP 4 card went up at the time just highlighting the main event in Diao and La’Bell. He felt it even more once the card in full came to follow seeing his name beside Seth Daniels. Anyone can act like they are the smoothest guy in MMA but the fact of the matter is if you start to lose the butterflies in the stomach or the electric feeling at the ends of your extremities, you’re losing that love for the fight. Losing that need to rise at the moment. Losing the love of the sport. Daniel is completely captivated by it all and has been ever since that first day walking into the gym, putting on the gloves, and trying his luck. Approximately 3 years...4 months...and some odd days ago…
‘There’s a lot more into just throwing a punch. Everything your body does before and after plays into it.’ Clayton Paris told him that on his very first day. Thoughts of that first day running through his mind. Thoughts of his first professional fight running through his mind. Thoughts of his first professional loss running through his mind. Thoughts of it all...all the paths taken to make it here running through his mind. So immersed in his own thoughts he didn’t even notice the question.]
??
.44??
[Fisk jolts lost in his own thoughts and blinks to realign himself looking out into the crowd of media and fans. He wipes down the front lapel of Stefano Ricci suit. All black with gold accents in the lining. Matching down to the loafers on his feet. Fisk said it as the media caught up with him walking into the building.
“I need to feel golden now for when I am officially golden tomorrow.”
Right now he needed to hear whatever question was given again.]
Daniel Fisk Jr
Yeah? Sup cuh, my fault. Or...excuse me, ma’am. Repeat your question please I was caught in the rapture.
[Fisk realizes where the voice comes from and he nods in the young woman’s direction.]
Leta Ruiz - MMA Mania
The Rapture?
[Fisk chuckles and leans forward more in his chair.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Yeah. Just the moment. Old school, Anita Baker? One of my Moms fav songs. Caught in all of it. Looking around seeing where I am & coming from. We in Jersey right now. Atlantic City. I took my first breath two hours away from here. It's...it's full circle for me. Just thinking about it all. All of the other fighters up here looking to rise to the occasion too. I already knew the high stakes and seriousness but just sitting here I was caught in thoughts is all. Go on ma repeat your question though.
Leta Ruiz - MMA Mania
The question interesting enough was about your focus. Something that’s been questioned with all you have a hand in. Your thoughts about having to juggle as an owner and a fighter being able to focus?
[Fisk’s eyebrows shoot up a bit at that not in an offended way or anything like that. Just intrigued by the question.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Have to say to that I’m doing a good job considering I’m sitting here soon to fight in the finals for the Cruiserweight Championship belt. Not only that but I’ve been one that’s wanted to learn all aspects of this game. From the ground floor to the front office. It’s been that for me since I walked in. MMA is it for me. I never really wanted anything else. I wasn’t that great in school. I didn’t like school other than the females. I knew college wasn’t in the cards. Always been good with numbers and working with my hands. Instead of ending up in construction I got a nudge to try this. People can question my focus but facts are this is all I do. 24/7, 365. I’m not a failed wrestler trying my hand somewhere else. I’m not a person who is seeing this as a fallback or even a new challenge. It’s the only one I have. No offense to anyone meant on God, I mean get it how you live but to say or question a person’s focus when this life is all they know is dumb to me.
[Fisk shrugs as he tells his truth.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
As an owner and a fighter, I can relate to each and every person from a level others might not be able to. I understand the dollars and cents that come with this business as well as the blood, sweat, and tears required to perform in there. It’s knowledge I’ve always wanted to have. Know the business in full. Inside and outside the ropes. It’s why I coach, I fight, I work the office, promote, tend to all aspects. Live this 24/7. Can’t get more focused than that in my opinion and in each aspect I grow more.
[Satisfied with that one answer Leta looks to add on one more.]
Leta Ruiz - MMA Mania
Real quick, your thoughts on the closure of Slaughterhouse Oahu?
[Fisk chuckles and points at Leta Ruiz in an “ahh-haa” way similar to the movie Coming to America.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Naww naw. I aint touching it cuh. Yall keep asking, nope. Letting that be exactly what it is.
[Fisk laughs with some of the media joining as Leta continues.]
Leta Ruiz - MMA Mania
Then you must have some thoughts about the announcement of Slaughterhouse Fight Nights on YouTube from James Shark. What do you think about this historical venture?
Daniel Fisk Jr.
The OG Shark said he would turn a positive out the negatives. That’s exactly what cuh did. Aint nothing but respect for it. He’s a businessman showing you how he does business. Seeing how other companies seem to be showing cracks he’s striking at the exact right time and with a main event that’s def gospel.
Leta Ruiz - MMA Mania
Will you be joining?
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Looky here Ms Lady hoggin up the media time.
[Fisk even puts down the mic placing his elbows on the table in front of him and gives her the Doc Rivers. That gets some of the media to laugh and a lot of the fans in attendance. He breaks the look shortly after with a smile to answer.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Shit, I aint mad at cha get the questions in. Gotta leave you in suspense for that one tho. Will say that main event cold though.
Leta Ruiz - MMA Mania
Thank you.
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Gospel.
[Quickly the next media member comes up.]
Matthew Maratea - MMA Sucka
We noticed...Of course, we noticed. The back and forth on social media between you and Seth Daniels? What exactly were you expecting when you tweeted out to him?
[Daniel chuckles and looks down to see if Seth Daniels is even in the room.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Not a English lesson or a image dissertation thats for sure but that’s what I love about the fight game. Slobs can think they big time too.
[Fans respond cheering while Fisk just drinks a bit of his “Real Killas” logo water bottle.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
No...on God gospel tho. The man outright lied to the public saying Shooter aint said nothing to him until the day of the fight when Shooter was working overtime just to make you care about the fight. Dante...you even called on it at the beginning of UGP 3. Dead silent. Expected not to get caught up in the lies then tries to change subjects about my hair and the way I type. Admits that he has no idea what I own or am a part of, how I got here, and pretty much no credit to be given. Meanwhile I’m well aware of what he did to Shooter and Robb Daniels. Analyzed in full. Want me to show you how he aint paid not nann attention outside himself?
[Fisk throws up his index finger.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Cuh asks me to give more of a fight than his last two opponents like he’s been straight railroading through people. On God? Robb was giving Seth a striking clinic at the beginning of round one until Seth’s desperation kick. Yeah Seth’s toughness wins out but lets be a hun out here. I see details, I take note. I see it all. He didn’t even clear Robb out. The second item, when he faced Shooter. Win yeah he caught him but again watch the 2nd round. A full on battle of them trading shots & Seth catches Shooter on with a spinning wheel kick. As I said a good win. Credits in that but to run from any promotion of the fight whatsoever in complete silence then to act like you someone who been dogwalking niggas, dudes a wash cuh. I don’t respect it. He’s seen the second round with Shooter. Had to survive out the Robb Daniels onslaught in the beginning. I’m still trying to see a 2nd round cuh. I want that to be honest. Nate caught me a few times but I still slept him and I still aint acting like I’ve dogwalked folk. I respect when due. I’m the only one in the division with a flash punch KO...ONE PUNCH. Clean. Slob ass wrestler turned into a slob ass fighter. Couldn’t sell in 4CW can’t sell here. He’s the fuckin Stitches of MMA. Just here because...aint selling, aint respected, one of the worst that needs to be exposed. I got c's tomorrow night.
[Fisk points out to the media crowd.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
Shit he don’t even respect yall in terms of what brings him the money. Admits he’s don’t even care about these press conferences and doing the job that comes with the cage. How you ‘forget’ your business moves? Where is that G? That’s how you get your money. Like I told yall before about Niko Holst. I say his name cause I respect it. Hates these things & the man can be as silent as the grave but he acknowledges his fights. He acknowledges his challengers. He sells because of his nature and because he cares. He damn sure doesn’t admit to waiting for someone to ‘at him.’ And he damn sure doesn’t sell anyone worth they rank short AND he damn sure don’t run from nobody. In the cage or outside of it on social media.
Right now Seth Daniels has bought into this bullshit that all he has to do is come in and fight. That’s the aura he gives off and for what it’s worth up until now it’s worked for him. Then I gotta ask him what’s he’s done during his entire camp? What’s he studied? You don’t know me right? Or is it all a work that aint foolin nobody? Because no matter what he tries to play or pull I have no reason to hold yall up on what I do. I do my homework and pay attention to details. I do the work necessary living in the gym 23 out of the 24 hour day. The success comes wit that along with the struggles. I’m clearing dude for the ones that do the work correctly. Reps correctly. Doesn’t earn off of others hard work from the gym to the promotion. For the ones like Lucas who gives respect due but still tries to fuckin kill you. For Shooter because the only reason Seth Daniels sees a suite this weekend instead of a Motel 6 this time around is because a ‘Coe. Like I said in Florida, bringing the real MMA back. The real stories and the real workers. Not a slob that switches who he is from one week to the next. Fans aint got time for it. Union GP aint got time for it. I aint got time for it. Is the nigga even here cuh?
[Fisk waits after the long winded response to see if Matt has something to follow with. Matt is just smirking while getting his bites.]
Matthew Maratea - MMA Sucka
You talk a lot Daniel.
Daniel Fisk Jr.
I know. Got the hands to back it up too.
[Matt smiles at that and takes his seat.]
Toussaint Harper - Union GP
I’ma cut to it Fisk because it’s about the fight itself at the end of the day. What tools do you believe you bring to the table that would bring a result that Seth Daniels has yet to experience in Union GP?
Daniel Fisk Jr.
I have the power to make him think twice. He can try to dispute that all he want. All the times he’s stumbled around the cage are moments I know with a clean shot I can knock him out. His kicks are dangerous but watching the Shooter fight I think we all have worked together to keep with my footwork to maintain the distance and also check the low ones. When Shooter pressed him he aint like it. I’m in your face constantly and I live or die by that. It’s why I told him on twitter he better have that counter on God mode to make me second guess because being in my head makes me worse. I aint the type to think once the cage close. That’s what the camp is for. Proactive or reactive to what the opponent give. He asking for a fight while I been begging for someone to push a limit and stop me. Which also lets me know he aint paid attention. He told me he adding me to a list of being stopped...when have I been? Never. I’m glad he’s up to the challenge though. I really love this bravado because while he was deadly silent and scared with Roscoe he is confident with me. More motivation to an already motivated gun.
Toussaint Harper - Union GP
Any differences or similarities between this return to MMA and your 1st start?
[The question actually makes Fisk pause. Going back into his thoughts and it brings a smile out of him.]
Daniel Fisk Jr.
To my first start...more differences. I was a lot more nervous back then just because I felt like a Bambi first walking. Still learning. Everything was a lesson. Even with the winning streak that I had before going up against Tom Pendergrass I was never comfortable. Even now, I’m not comfortable. I’m on edge and anxious. Those feelings keep me sharp and never sated. Now as far as similarities, this isn’t similar to my 1st start in National Fighting Alliance and then transitioning to Macto Legion Championship. My Caged Glory start? It’s very similar to this time around. This is my third fight in Union GP and it’s for a title. My third fight in Caged Glory...also for a title. When I speak about 427 days...that’s as of tonight. It’ll be 428 days tomorrow night. That’s what I’m referencing to. A split decision that crushed me but renewed my spirit. Niko Holst.
Seth Daniels thinks he’s fighting a man he can dominate when he hasn’t dominated in his path to here. He calls others frauds when he’s already been exposed as a fraud himself and that’s before we even reached the cage. History is repeating itself but it won’t tomorrow. Tomorrow night is where I right things and stand on a pedestal I’ve yet to reach. Where I represent myself as the best of my division and move forward to the challenges that await still as hungry as that 24-year-old with bright eyes to everything new this business has shown me. Still as anxious as the 24-year-old wanting to perform at his best constantly. You looking at your first Union GP Cruiserweight champion cuh, I aint going out any other way. I can’t. I fucking refuse. I’m home.
