TOAST, YEAH

SAY WE A COME IN WID A FORCE (YEAH)

BLESSINGS WE A REAP PON WE COURSE INA HAND FULL

[As “Toast” by Koffee plays throughout the arena, Zari Aliyah slowly makes her way out while shadow boxing with her corner crew following close behind. Aliyah doesn’t show much emotion as she continues her walk, but occasionally tags a few stretched out hands from the crowd.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Our first walkout of the night is the people’s champ, Zari Aliyah. Zari is constantly doing great things for communities all over the country when she’s not competing or training. However, her attention is turned solely on this catchweight fight tonight. After her stunning loss in the first round of the Bantamweight Grand Prix Tournament to Dallas Meechan, Aliyah is surely looking to get back on track in a big way.

CARRICK PRICE

This could be the way to do that no doubt. Tatum could pose a lot of problems for her if she’s not careful. I love that these two were able to agree to fight in spite of them really being suited for different divisions. One-forty-five should suit them both well. Thicc Mama’s. Don’t tell Sarah I said that.

[Zari makes it to cageside and gets checked by the bout official. Once cleared, she races up the steps and heads straight to her corner, bobbing and weaving along the way. When Aliyah enters the cage the arena is about to explode! She knows for sure that the fans are with her tonight.]

MY BRO, MY BRO

THAT NIGGA MY HOMIE

COUNT MONEY, FUCK HOES

MAKE SURE YOU GET MONEY

["No Smoke” by YoungBoy NBA begins playing over the PA system, and soon Tatum Momo’a emerges to the main stage. The crowd cheers for the 36th Street prospect as she makes her way down the aisle with members from her camp following behind. Momo’a looks focused as she doesn’t show much emotion heading to the cage.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Coming out now is the 36th Street MMA product Tatum Momo’a. The Samoan Smokeshow has been on a bit of a skid as of late, having a series of losses in 8CMMA, Elite, and here in Union GP. Tatum did win her opening Grand Prix Tournament fight, but was succumbed to current Lightweight Champion Natalie King. If Tatum can pull out a win here tonight, it would surely keep her as a top contender in the deepest division in Union.

CARRICK PRICE

I don’t think there’s any shame in losing to Natalie King. The woman is an absolute buzzsaw. As for 8CMMa and Elite, well everyone knows each company is different and Tatum just might have been a bit out of her comfort zone there. I think she’s got a good shot at getting back on track here tonight.

[Tatum makes it to cageside where she strips down and gets inspected by the fight official. Once she’s been cleared, she heads up the steps and takes her corner. She rolls her neck and shoulders a bit as she awaits her opponent.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for three rounds as a Catchweight Bout. Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Muay Thai Fighter holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 5-2. She stands 5’7” and weighing in at 145 pounds. She is from Swetes, Antigua and Barbuda, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, she is “Zealous” Zari Aliyah!

[Zari steps out from her corner and raises a fist in the air to the roaring crowd.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And her opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 5-4. She stands 5’7” and weighing in at 145 pounds. She is from Los Angeles, California, fighting out of 36th Street MMA, she is “The Samoan Smokeshow” Tatum Momo’a!

[Tatum bows her head and gives a quick wave to the crowd.]

CARRICK PRICE

I am absolutely hyped for this fight! Is there anything better than watching two women get in the cage and brawl. I’m telling you Harpy, it gets my blood flowing. Are we ready?

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Yes we are! We are all squared away for this opening bout to officially get this great night of fights kicked into gear. Advertised as a Catchweight, officially a Featherweight bout, this could be the start of something new here in Union GP. Our referee for this bout is Dusty Whittaker. He checks off with each woman one last time and calls for the bell. And this fight is underway!

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[The bell signals the start of the first round and both fighters touch up in the center of the cage, then circle out. Aliyah wastes no time and shoots immediately for a single leg takedown. Zari runs the pipe beautifully and Tatum Momo'a loses her balance and goes to the ground.]

Zari steps over quickly to transition into side mount, but Tatum gets a leg in and manages to reclaim half guard. Aliyah reaches down to free her leg from Momoa’s legs however and pops right back over into side control. Tatum tries to work back to half guard but Aliyah uses this opportunity to slide her knee over and mount Momoa!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Zari is looking smooth here with her grappling. She’s doing a good job overwhelming Tatum and it’s a smart move keeping this fight down here on the mat where the striker is less comfortable.

CARRICK PRICE

As long as she takes advantage of the superior position I definitely agree. Me personally, I love watching this sort of high level ground work but I know the fans are probably wishing the ref would stand them back up and let them throw down.

[Zari Aliyah is still in full mount here, as Tatum tries to roll out of the bad position. She gives up her back only for a moment, before rolling again to trap Zari Aliyah in her guard. Zari is relentless however, and mauls her way back to a full mount in under 30 seconds.]

[Tatum tries to scramble back to half guard but Zari Aliyah keeps good control and remains in full mount. Aliyah is in a great position to finally posture up, and she uncorks some solid ground and pound, forcing Tatum to cover up. Tatum tries to find a way out of the bad spot, but Zari Aliyah controls the situation despite her efforts.]

[Tatum shows tremendous heart by throwing a few punches from her back but Aliyah blocks them effectively. This gives Tatum an opening however, to pull Zari down and cling onto her to stalemate the action. The plan works and the referee decides to stand up the fighters since there was not much action on the ground. Both fighters climb to their feet to continue the fight standing, and the fans inside Blue Cross Arena go wild!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Momo’a makes it back to her feet and she has bad intentions in her eyes. She’s looking to uncork some thunder here.

CARRICK PRICE

Bad intentions but you have to wonder if being forced to defend on the ground as she’s had to might take some steam off of those intentions.

[Tatum walks Zari down and the two engage in a wild exchange of punches in the middle of the cage! Tatum gets the better of the exchange, and she connects solid with a right overhand, left hook combo that makes the Real Killa fighter stumble back a few steps.]

[Zari seems to shake it off quickly however, and she steps back in to fake a punch before slipping off to the side to launch a well timed kick to the ribs of Momo’a. Oof! Momo’a takes a step back with a wince and Zari closes the distance to secure a Thai plum and push her opponent back against the cage!]

[Tatum Momo'a pummels for position, wanting to shrug Aliyah off and keep the fight at striking range, but Aliyah hangs on for dear life, refusing to break the tight clinch. A knee attempt is blocked by Momo’a before finally powering her way out of the bad situation by breaking the grip and ducking under Aliyah’s arm to circle out.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

It looks like Zari just wants to grind Tatum down and deny her distance to get her striking going. Momo’a looks frustrated here as Zari dictates where the fight takes place. She’s fighting on her own terms right now.

CARRICK PRICE

If you’ve got the skill to do so it can be the most demoralizing thing for your opponent. People love knockouts and submissions but there’s nothing quite like breaking your opponents will.

[Zari steps forward to launch a left hook to the body, but Momo'a slips off the right to evade. Aliyah goes on the pursuit, throwing a quick flurry of punches at Tatum, but she only manages to land a few glancing blows.]

[Ailiyah backs off to study her opponent momentarily, looking for any hole in her defense. Her corner can be heard yelling for her to take Tatum down as Momo’a has the ability to finish the fight on the feet with one shot given the chance. Zari shakes her head and steps in to engage again instead. Tatum shines here and makes her pay by landing a lead uppercut, right straight combo before circling out quickly.]

[Momo’a inhales deeply and takes a moment to recover her breath as she creates some distance. Aliyah doesn’t want to give her time to breathe though, and she closes the distance quickly to go for a leg kick. Faster than a blinking eye, she changes it into a question mark kick to the head that is narrowly avoided by Momo’a.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Whew. Bad intentions behind that kick that was barely avoided as well. These ladies are looking to end this fight.

[Zari Aliyah fakes a punch and launches herself toward Momo'a to shoot for a double leg takedown. Momo’a stays on her feet and is driven back against the fence, however. Nice move by Aliyah who pops back up and secures double underhooks to pin Momo'a against the cage. Tatum tries to shrug her way out of the clinch, but Aliyah is determined to work here and pummels through to retain position.]

[Aliyah switches up to a single collar tie and launches a few hard punches to Tatum Momo'a's ribs, which are already welted up from the kick earlier. Momo'a doesn't want to eat anymore shots to the body, so she ducks under Zari’s arm again and moves away just as the round comes to an end.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That round was a toss up but I have to say Zari edges it out. She’s controlled the pace with her grappling and it’s been hard for Momo’a to let her hands go and get the offense rolling.

CARRICK PRICE

I’d have to agree. Zari was strong on the ground and in spite of the fact that Tatum was able to get some solid shots in here and there, Aliyah controlled the round. Less of a toss up in my opinion. I think Zari won it pretty cleanly.

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The second round begins and both come out and slap hands before going back to work. Aliyah wastes no time and launches a quick body kick that is barely evaded by Momo’a. Tatum steps back in to fake a left hook, but slips to the side and lands a slick right straight to the orbital area of Aliyah. Zari fires back quickly with a flurry of her own and the two exchange again with Tatum taking the best of the brief punching exchange.]

[Aliyah fires a leg kick but Tatum takes a page out of her brother’s play book and leaps over the kick as if she was skipping rope. She cracks Zari with an elbow on the way down and the two exchange wildly again, this time with Aliyah connecting with the cleaner punches.]

[Aliyah takes a step back to fake a retreat and shoots a takedown as Tatum steps forward in pursuit.Momo'a sees it coming and sprawls quickly to remain on her feet. Aliyah is still determined to grapple however, and pushes forward to try and clinch up with Momo’a. Zari is successful, but she also finds herself on the receiving end of a dirty boxing lesson by Momo'a who Alternates shots between Zari’s head and body. Aliyah pummels to double under and pulls her opponent closer to block the offense. This results in an eventual stalemate and Dusty Whittaker separates the fighters and tells them to continue fighting.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Good call by the ref to separate these two here. It looks like some new life has been breathed into Tatum Momo’a here. Do you think she can turn it around?

CARRICK PRICE

She’s not out of it yet but she’s going to need to assert herself more. Zari is basically eliminating her striking capability, be it with the clinch or on the ground. It can be frustrating but Tatum just needs to keep her head on straight, keep looking for openings, and get her shots in when she can. She needs to punish Zari for every inch she gives up.

[Aliyah realizes that she needs to take the fight back to her advantage and tries to clinch up again. Tatum Momo'a does her best to push Aliyah away, trying to keep the fight at striking range, but it’s no use as Zari latches on with a Thai Plum. Zari pulls Tatum’s head down and tries to deliver a flying knee to the dome but Tatum deflects it. A follow up knee lands to the body however and this shot crumples Tatum to the mat!]

[Aliyah cautiously stands over Momo'a who has now rolled to her back on the ground. Tatum tries to stand up, but Aliyah launches a nasty kick to her thigh that drops her back down! The pop echoes out through the building, and the crowd lets out a cheer. This causes Zari to attempt another one, but Momo’a has it scouted. Catching the kick, Tatum kicks the other leg out from under Aliyah and sends her crashing to the mat momentarily. This provides a window for Momo’a to scramble back to her feet quickly ]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Excellent work getting back to her feet there. It looks like she’s got a welt already forming on her thigh from that kick. She knew she couldn’t keep eating those.

CARRICK PRICE

Those knees are going to exact a price though. This is the sort of gameplan out of Aliyah that is focused on smothering her opponent. You force them to expend enormous amounts of energy just to get back up, and in doing so they leave themselves open to some nasty blows to the legs and abdomen. It’s like a boa constrictor wrapping around its victim and slowly squeezing the life out of them.

[Zari Aliyah is doing her best Floyd Mayweather impression by not engaging here as the round reaches the midway mark. Tatum moves forward looking for a hole in her opponent's defense, but Zari stays evasive as she circles out and away from Tatum’s power hand.]

[These two fighters are showing each other a ton of respect here as both are hesitant to throw any strikes. The crowd becomes impatient and a chorus of boos begin to ring out. Lots of feints being thrown and level changes but no actual strikes. Finally a well timed low key is launched by Momo'a as payback for the one Zari landed before. There’s an even louder pop that echoes out and the crowd goes right back to cheering for the two fighters in that oh so familiar fickle fight fan way!]

[The two exchange wildly here in the center of the cage. Aliyah comes out on top connecting with a jab, right hook, left uppercut that seems to back Tatum up. Momo'a launches a couple of jabs that are followed by a stiff cross! Solid exchange! Aliyah steps backwards away from Tatum to kinda cool the fight down and the two of them smile and exchange brief friendly words about the battle so far. Aliyah steps back in to drop down for a level change and shoot for a takedown. Tatum doesn’t see it coming and she is scooped up and planted on the mat by a beautiful double leg. Zari lands in open guard, but Momo'a closes the guard and lands a short elbow just as the buzzer sounds, marking the end of the round. The two help each other up and head to their corners.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Looks like they’re having fun out there. Love to see the good sportsmanship between fighters. You know I can't seem to give the advantage to either fighter in that round. It’s just too close to call. I think whoever controls this last round will be our winner.

CARRICK PRICE

Tatum did a better job that round but if I’m in her corner I’m begging her to find a way to finish it in the third. You never know what the judges are going to say, but it certainly looks to me like Zari is up two rounds to none, though it could be closer than that.

=========================================

ROUND THREE

=========================================

[We begin our third and final round and the fighters size each other up in the center of the cage. Zari Aliyah jumps into the air right out the gate and tries for a gorgeous flying knee! Momo'a blocks the knee with her arms and moves laterally looking for a counter flurry but Aliyah blocks the punches and powers through to secure another troublesome Thai plum clinch.]

[Aliyah tugs Tatum’s head down again and jumps forward with a hard knee to the head that cuts Tatum open on her forehead and drops her to the mat once again. Tatum quickly recovers and rolls to her back as Zari stands over her. Tatum throws a dangerous upkick attempt but Zari dodges and Momo’a uses this opportunity to pop back to her feet and wipe some blood out of her eyes.]

[Tatum fires off a few leg kick attempts and tries to keep Aliyah at bay but Zari checks them and answers back with her own that hobbles Momo’a a bit. The two circle out and Aliyah decides to launch some tentative punches. Tatum fires back in a showing of pure heart but it’s Zari Aliyah who takes the best of the brief punching exchange this time.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Looks like the tables have turned here. Zari has grinded Tatum out to the point that she is exhausted. Now that Tatum’s hands have slowed down, Zari is getting the better of these exchanges. Brilliant game plan from Zari and Real Killas.

CARRICK PRICE

Yep, you said it perfectly Harpy. What we’re seeing now is a result of the earlier work put in by Zari. Like I said, a boa constrictor slowly tightening its grip around its victim. Tatum desperately needs a knock out blow right now.

[A body kick from Aliyah lands solidly right below the ribs of Momo’a, causing Tatum to wince and suck in air. Tatum answers back with what appears to be several good body shots, but they’re all blocked by Aliyah. Zari takes one step back and plants to swing a hard left hook! It lands flush, causing droplets of blood to rain down and litter the canvas. Another right hand by Zari surprises Momo’a and she looks stunned here! Instead of backing up however, Tatum plants down and uncorks a few heavy punches. These are blocked by Aliyah, who parries and answers back with a lightning quick combo that lands solid. Momo'a takes 3 steps backward and lowers her arms while breathing heavily... She seems exhausted.]

[Zari closes the distance and Momo'a shoots in to get a hold on Zari Aliyah's right leg. She tries to finish the single leg but lacks the energy, which allows Zari to shove her off and circle out. A desperation high kick is launched by Tatum but it narrowly falls short of the mark. Tatum is breathing hard here as she sizes up Zari and sucks in some air.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Momo’a isn’t going to last much longer at this pace. She is exhausted and that blood is clouding her vision. It’ll be interesting to see if she makes it to the judges. It’s going to take some heart.

CARRICK PRICE

Even more than she’s already shown no doubt. Credit to her for being able to tough it out to this point.

[Momo'a shows some excellent timing, and blasts Zari Aliyah with a heavy straight right hand. Aliyah steps backwards with the impact and answers back with a brutal kick to the body of Momo’a that nearly folds her again. Momo’a steps in with a leg kick that is checked, but launches a string of follow up punches that leads to a brief boxing exchange between the two. Zari gets the better of the exchange and Momo’a goes for another desperation high kick. It misses badly, causing Momo'a to slips and falls out of exhaustion.]

[Aliyah is standing while Momo'a is on the ground on her back here. She fires off two quick kicks to the thigh of the downed fighter in succession. Pop! Pop!! The wince on Tatum’s face shows the true amount of pain her leg is in after this grueling fight. She shows tremendous heart however, and powers her way back to her feet.]

[The two women hear the ten second mark and plant in the center to trade bombs until Dusty Whittaker steps in to separate the fighters as the round ends. The fighters hug for a moment and exchange words before they head back to their corners.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Well that was a brawl from start to finish. Good showing from both ladies here. If I had to score it I’d say 29-28 Aliyah, what about you Carrick?

CARRICK PRICE

I have it 30-27 for Aliyah but I could definitely see the second swinging in Tatum’s favor on a judges card or two. Was a good fight but I think Zari can head to the center of the cage expecting to have her hand raised.

[Tatum and Zari get worked on by medics and their corner crews tend to them for a few moments. After a short break, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, after three rounds, we go to the judges scorecards. The judges score it 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 for your winner by unanimous decision, “Zealous” Zari Aliyah!

[The crowd cheers once again as Aliyah has her hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[The camera cuts backstage to Dylan Carter who is standing by.]

DYLAN CARTER

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing my guest at this time, Cruiserweight competitor Michael Santos!

[Michael keeps a straight face, not much shown by the stoic man as he gives a nod in recognition.]

DYLAN CARTER

Now Michael, you began your MMA career in explosive fashion, knocking out Cal Mcclusky in 30 seconds with a single punch! While you have clearly shown your striking ability in the cage, you’ve been in the professional wrestling business for many years, having quite the successful career. My question is why take the jump to mixed martial arts, and why now?

MICHAEL SANTOS

My wrestling career is something I greatly treasure, and is a part of my life that I will never forget. However, it is a physically unforgiving business. The tax on your body ads up, and with my daughter just being born, it had me reevaluating. Mixed martial arts can certainly be up there in terms of brutality, but there are a lot more rules and regulations in place, protecting the fighters and allowing us to do what we do best without crippling us for life. I want to play with my child as she grows, not watch her from a wheelchair. But besides that, MMA has always been something I’ve been interested in, but wrestling always had priority. But now being in Union Grand Prix allows me to still fight, and makes me adapt my fighting to a whole different style of combat. I welcome the challenge, and with my first fight I believe I made a great first impression.

DYLAN CARTER

That’s for sure! Well Michael thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

[Michael once again gives a stoic nod before the camera cuts away.]

WHAT YOU CALL AN ICON LIVIN'?

WE UP TOO HOT IN THE BUSINESS

["Icon” by Jaden Smith begins to play over the loudspeaker and “The Silver Tongued Devil” Aries Reed emerges to the stage wearing his purple and silver walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Reed looks hyped up and can seemingly be seen talking trash as he slowly walks toward the cage.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Here comes Aries Reed! As he returns from his title fight loss at the Middleweight Grand Prix, this man will be definitely looking to make a comeback in this Union GP’s anniversary show.

CARRICK PRICE

Both of these fighters fell to the Middleweight Champion, but Aries Reed was knocked out in the first round. That will no doubt give him the incentive to come down to this fight ready and willing to send a strong statement with a victory here tonight.

[Once he makes it to cageside, Reed gets checked out by the fight official to ensure he’s fit to fight. Once he’s been cleared, he bear crawls up the steps and stomps into the cage, giving out a loud battle cry before taking his corner.]

NIGGAS BEEN COUNTING ME OUT

I'M COUNTING MY BULLETS

I'M LOADING MY CLIPS

I'M WRITING DOWN NAMES

["Middle Child” by J. Cole bumps over the loudspeaker and Zion Momo’a emerges to the stage wearing his black and blue walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Momo’a bobs his head to the music as he slowly makes the walk to the cage.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And there is the Blasian Buzzsaw! Though he also lost the Middleweight Grand Prix semi-finals, that was only his first defeat in Union GP, but here he comes determined to shake it off and get himself back into prominence in the division.

CARRICK PRICE

Zion was one of the two only people that managed to push the Middleweight Champion past the first round. If he comes determined to prevail over Aries Reed’s superb boxing skills, he will put his dodging skills into use to do the same with the Silver Tongued Devil.

[Zion makes it to cageside where he strips down to his gear and gets checked by the fight official. Once he's been cleared, he jogs up the steps and explodes with a huge leap into the cage. Momo’a makes a b-line to his corner, where he leans into the fence a few times to hype himself up.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following bout is scheduled for three rounds in the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Division! Introducing first, the challenger, fighting out of the blue corner, a Boxer with a professional mixed martial arts record of 12 wins, and six losses. He stands at 6’ even and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Atlanta, Georgia, fighting out of Slaughterhouse Las Vegas, he is “The Silver Tongued Devil” Aries Reed!

[There is an uneasy look in Aries Reed’s eyes, which hopefully will not affect his performance.]

MIKE DEMPSEY
And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a kickboxer with a professional mixed martial arts record of 4-2. He stands at 6’ even and weighing in at 189 pounds. He is from Los Angeles, California, fighting out of 36th Street MMA, he is ”The Blasian Buzzsaw” Zion Momo’a!

[Zion Momo'a glares at his opponent from the opposite corner.]

CARRICK PRICE

I must say I’m very hard pressed to pick a winner. Both of these men have a devastating striking game and can go toe to toe with each other until the five rounds are over! Whether it’s Aries’ heavy hands or Zion’s kicks, I believe it’s going to be a bonafide stand and bang tonight!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Our referee for this bout contest is Willie Green. He’s checking off with each man one last time, and there’s the sound of the bell! Here we go!

=========================================

ROUND ONE

=========================================

[Reed and Momo'a move forward as the bell signals the beginning of the fight! Aries Reed goes with a looping right hand while Zion Momo'a jumps back and jabs! Momo'a seems staggered and Aries Reed runs to capitalize with a bunch of jabs and crosses!]

CARRICK PRICE

That Aries right hand stopped Zion’s momentum cold, and Aries Reed now pressing his advantage!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That’s going to put in some points when this round is over, but it looks like Zion’s managed to step away just enough to prevent Aries from doing some real damage.

[Both fighters circle around the center of the cage. Reed launches a flurry of punches but only manages to land glancing blows. Aries tries a nice one-two combination, and scores!]

CARRICK PRICE

Beautiful combination by Aries! Fast punches that got through Zion, that’s going to be some more points for the cards.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

You have to be careful when going against a boxer like Aries, explosive one-twos like that we’ve just seen might leave you open for a harder hit!

[Reed goes for a combination again, but this time Zion blocks. Aries goes for some leg kicks, but Momo’a blocks these as well. Reed misses a step and Zion Momo'a sees an opportunity to counter him! Good front kick from Momo'a, just blocked by Aries Reed!]

CARRICK PRICE

Zion with a surprise front kick! Good thing Reed defended just in time, or he might have been in trouble.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Aries has to keep his space with those kicks, and this might give Zion a chance to move in!

[Momo’a tries to make the best of the opening he created, but every time he attempts to get inside, he’s met with a low kick by Reed. Zion tries to mix it up with a punch, but Aries Reed delivers one of his own!]

CARRICK PRICE

Nice punch by Aries Reed, who outboxes his opponent in this exchange.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Zion tried catching Reed unprepared, but he has to rely on his kicks if he wants to outstrike the Silver Tongued Devil!

[Aries Reed now goes for a body kick, but Zion blocks!  Reed seems fresh and may still have a lot of gas in his tank. He charges at Momo'a throwing flurries left and right. Not many punches are hitting, but the ones that land are huge shots! Momo'a is rocked! There is a small laceration on Zion Momo'a's right cheek as he steps back!

CARRICK PRICE

Not a good position for Zion right now!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Aries Reed is making the best of his heavy hands so far, and if he keeps this up, we might be seeing a knockdown!

[Reed wants to take the fight to his advantage and tries to clinch. He moves forward and holds Momo'a! Zion pushes Reed away trying to keep the fight at striking range, but Aries doesn't want to break the clinch as both men are still grappling! Reed is throwing a flurry of punches and Momo'a just can't get away! Zion keeps trying to put the fight back at striking range as his own cornermen scream at him to get away, but Reed won’t budge. Suddenly Aries Reed postures up and launches another series of punches! A lot of them are hitting Momo'a hard, who may be wondering how to escape from this!]

CARRICK PRICE

Zion is getting the worst of it now!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Terrible place to be caught with the wall at your back and Aries Reed’s fists at your front!

[Momo'a doesn't want to clinch as he ducks under Aries Reed embrace and tries to move away, but Aries Reed pushes Momo'a forward and doesn't allow him to break the clinch. Both fighters are tied, and Reed takes a break to breathe while holding Zion Momo'a. Referee Willie Green sees a lack of activity in the clinch and separates the fighters.]

CARRICK PRICE

Lucky break for Zion Momo’a as the referee breaks up the clinch.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

He was definitely in danger, and he’s going to have to fight back hard to gain control of this fight.

[The referee resumes the bout, and the two fighters get into a wild exchange! Reed is connecting with a few punches again! He fakes a punch and shows some footwork moving aside. Reed wants to close the range and tries to grapple. Nice move! He shoves himself over his opponent and secures a single collar tie!]

CARRICK PRICE

Reed at the clinch again! Zion has to get out of there!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I don’t know how much more of this Zion can withstand!

[Zion doesn't want to clinch as he ducks under Aries Reed’s embrace and tries to move away...

Nice move from Momo’a who puts distance between them! Zion now goes on the offensive, but every time he attempts to get inside Reed fires a low kick. Reed misses a step and Zion Momo'a sees an opportunity to counter him! Nice low kick from Momo'a but Aries Reed stops it! The excitement from the crowd is clearly audible, and these two fighters are showing each other a ton of respect!]

CARRICK PRICE

Zion trying to get back on track now, great escape from Aries’ clinch.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

He needs to keep his distance and go for those kicks. Aries can catch him on that hug again and he might not be able to get away next time!

[Reed grabs his opponent by the waist and tries to take the fight to the ground! Great takedown by Aries Reed! Zion Momo’a is firmly under his grasp and he goes for the ground and pound!

Momo'a ribs are getting hammered, they look bad!]

CARRICK PRICE

What a takedown! Aries’s ground and pound can be enough to finish the fight and Zion’s in trouble once more!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

We might be in for an early stoppage now!

[Aries Reed is in open guard over Momo'a. He tries to move to full mount and succeeds! Momo'a cornermen are yelling for their man to escape from the ground as Reed can finish a fight on the ground with some good pounding if you give him the chance! Momo'a tries to escape from the full mount, but Aries Reed is not caught off guard and moves to side mount to keep his superior position! With Momo’a secured again, Reed slides his knee across and gets to mount! He’s looking to go for another pounding session, and controls the situation despite Zion Momo'a efforts for escaping from the full mount!]

CARRICK PRICE

Zion trying his best to escape, but Aries Reed’s positioning is simply too much!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

If he can manage to keep Zion from moving, this fight might just be over!

[Zion tries to roll to his side and get to half guard… but Aries Reed rolls Zion Momo'a to his stomach and takes his back! Reed is in rear mount over Momo'a! Momo'a has given his back to Aries Reed who is trying to get one hook in! He has it!]

CARRICK PRICE

Aries going for a rear naked choke and we might be seeing the end of it now!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Reed has one hook in and is trying to get the second one! If he succeed things are going to get very bad for Momo'a!

[Reed now has two hooks in! The end may be near! He is working on a desperate Momo'a, who tries to defend himself and escape from that position. Reed moves looking to sink a rear naked choke and finish this! He tentatively looks for a way to finish his opponent!]

CARRICK PRICE

This is a nightmare for Momo'a!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

If he’s not caught in a submission, he might just be on the receiving end of a ground and pound! Aries Reed has all the cards here!

[Momo'a adopts the turtle defense and Reed is ready to make his way to victory with a round of punches! He is working on a desperate Momo'a, who tries to defend himself and escape from that position! But at that point, the buzzer sounds and the referee separates the fighters! Zion Momo’a was literally saved by the bell!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Not a good beginning for Zion Momo’a as Aries Reed landed a few good shots and had him right where he wanted on the clinch and takedown. Aries has to be confident that he won this round.

CARRICK PRICE

No argument from me. Aries dominated this round and Zion was just short of finding himself on the receiving end of a ground and point or a rear naked choke. Zion’s corner has to come up with a game plan soon or we may not see the end of a second round!

Aries Reed’s Corner Notes:

This round is yours, but watch out for any surprise kicks!

Keep the pressure on him!

Finish the fight!

Zion Momo’a’s Corner Notes:

Go for the head kicks!

Don’t let him get close!

Keep this fight on your feet!

=========================================

ROUND TWO

=========================================

[The bell sounds off and the two fighters more to the center, and again a trade of blows from both fighters! Another nice punch by Aries Reed who got the better of the exchange! Reed moves in and tries to grapple, and puts Momo'a in a double underhook! Aries Reed postures up and launches another series of punches that hit Momo'a hard! Momo'a ducks one more time under Aries Reed embrace and tries to move away, but Reed pushes Momo'a forward and doesn’t allow him to break the clinch!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Aries Reed back in dominance at the beginning of this round!

CARRICK PRICE

Terrible way to begin the second round for Zion after getting the worst of the first!

[The fighters are clinching! Aries Reed postures up and keeps the pounding up! Crushing shot to Momo'a's body, who’s holding his side! Zion tries to shrug his way out of the clinch, but Reed is determined to work from there. He pummeled through and managed to retain his position! But Reed doesn't want to clinch anymore, he moves away and puts some distance between them. Reed throws a hook that hits its mark!]

CARRICK PRICE

I would have thought Reed would want to keep the fight close, but he breaks up the clinch on his own and lands a hook that lands flush on Zion’s face!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

It’s like Reed controls this fight at will!

[Back to trading blows both men go! Aries Reed paws at Momo'a! Momo'a swings ineffectively! Momo'a clumsily fails here and it's time for Aries Reed to fight back! Solid shot from Aries Reed to the body, and Momo'a didn't like that as he reels in pain!]

CARRICK PRICE

He’s wearing Zion down in any way he wants!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Another score that will go down on the cards for Reed in this round!

[Aries Reed tries to take the action to his favourite field one more time as he tries to grapple! Great move by Aries Reed who pushes his opponent forward with a double underhook! Momo'a definitely doesn't want to clinch as he ducks and tries to get away, but again he’s caught in Reed’s clutches!]

CARRICK PRICE

And here we go back into the clinch. Zion keeps getting caught but Reed has tried to whittle his defenses down!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Perhaps he’s closing in for the kill once Momo’a is tired enough!

[Reed is launching some bone breaking punches to Momo'a's ribs while in the clinch! The pain is clearly visible in Zion Momo'a's eyes! He pushes away Reed trying to keep the fight at striking range, but Reed doesn't want to break the clinch as he still is grappling!]

CARRICK PRICE

Solid shots from Reed and Momo’a has been hurt plenty!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

At the rate these two men are going, I don’t suppose this fight can last much longer!

[This time, Reed circles out and slips free of Zion Momo'a's grip. He takes a few seconds to recover his breath. He suddenly spins around with a backfist! Zion Momo'a was aware of that move and blocks it with confidence! But Aries Reed circles around Momo'a and launches a bone shattering straight left hand!]

CARRICK PRICE

Momo'a is going to have a big headache after that blow!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Not good for Zion. Not good at all!

[Another punch from Aries Reed grazes Momo'a's left cheek, and there is a small laceration on it now! Aries Reed goes with a looping right hand while Zion Momo'a jumps back and jabs! Momo'a is staggered once again and Aries Reed runs to capitalize with a bunch of jabs and crosses! Zion Momo'a is a bloody mess!]

CARRICK PRICE

Aries Reed has done a number on Zion Momo’a! Not only has he had him at his mercy up close, but he’s left his hands all over his face!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

The referee’s going to have to intervene soon!

[Reed moves forward looking for some action! He displays his wrestling skills as he once more puts his opponent in a double overhook! Momo’a tries desperately for an escape, but Reed pushes his forward again! Aries Reed is absolutely terrifying with his power in the clinch, and is violently punishing Momo'a with uppercuts!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Momo'a is taking more than he can endure. This could end soon if he is unable to escape!

CARRICK PRICE

Momo’a’s been punished severely throughout all this fight. It’s a miracle he’s standing right now!

[The fighters are still, clinching, and Momo'a's blood is visibly making stains on the mat. Again Reed breaks up the clinch, and puts back the distance between them. Zion Momo'a continues to bleed from that cut. It could be affecting his vision. Reed launches a hook to the body… Bang! Momo'a stops that one with his ribs!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Another terrible hit by Aries Reed, and Momo’a’s reeling in pain once more! This has been a terribly one sided match... It looks like Momo’a wasn’t ready to fight a boxer of Aries Reed’s caliber.

CARRICK PRICE

Nice beating Zion Momo’a has received, and back to grappling Reed goes! He’s been alternating stand-up and grappling at will tonight!

[Aries Reed catches Zion in a double underhook one more time! Reed holds Momo’a against the cage and goes for some dirty boxing. Momo'a is unable to defend himself and receives some punches in the ribs! His bleeding doesn’t stop and the stains on the ground get bigger every time! Reed circles out and breaks the clinch once again, then tries to take the fight to the ground with a one leg takedown! Momo'a is unable to remain on his feet and falls to the ground!]

CARRICK PRICE
Another takedown! This one is about to be over!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

This fight has been a complete show of dominance by Aries Reed so far.

[Aries Reed is in open guard over Momo'a. He tries to improve his position and frees a leg - then he transitions to half-guard, then to side mount, and finally slides his knee across and gets to full mount over Zion Momo'a! Aries Reed controls the situation despite Zion Momo'a efforts for escaping from the full mount! Reed is in a great position to begin a nice round of pounding! Zion Momo'a tries to roll to his side and trap Aries Reed in his guard, but Aries Reed rolls him over and takes his back! Momo'a has given his back to Aries Reed again, who is trying to get one hook in, and gets it!]

CARRICK PRICE

Just as we’ve seen in the first round, and Aries Reed might just get that submission!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

This fight has been awfully one sided. I’m at a loss as to how the referee is even letting it go on.

[Reed has one hook in and is trying to get the second one! If he succeeds, things are going to get very bad for Momo'a! Reed now has two hooks in! The end may be near, but the buzzer sounds and once again Zion Momo’a is saved by the bell! The referee separates the two fighters and doctors and cutmen in Zion’s corner tend to the damage on his face.]

CARRICK PRICE

You have to give this round to Aries Reed. He did some major damage to Zion and he’s definitely in better shape at this point.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Zion’s only chance is to go for a finish before Reed does it for him.

Aries Reed’s Corner Notes:

You’re looking great! Don’t let up!

Keep the pressure on him!

Finish the fight!

Zion Momo’a’s Corner Notes:

Keep this fight on your feet!

Don’t let him get close!

Go for the head kicks!

=========================================

ROUND THREE

=========================================

[The bell sounds and both men close in to each other. Zion Momo'a's face is covered in blood! He may be having problems seeing as he wipes the blood out of his eyes. Aries Reed fakes a punch and shows some footwork moving aside! Reed is connecting with a few punches, and Zion Momo'a is a bloody mess! A right hand from Aries Reed makes Momo'a stumble back! Zion Momo'a continues to bleed from those cuts. They could be affecting his vision. Reed goes to the body and punishes Momo'a's ribs with a couple of hooks!]

CARRICK PRICE

Aries Reed unloading left and right, and Zion is completely defenseless!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

This one’s all over!

[The ref has seen enough! He pulls Reed of Momo’a and calls for the bell! Momo'a seems confused and a bit dazed as the bell sounds the bout over. His right eye is bruised after the punishment he's received!]

CARRICK PRICE

Aries Reed dominated from start to finish, dealt some serious damage to Zion Momo’a, and never gave him a chance to hit him. Stand-up game, clinch, takedown - he took Zion for a ride in every position in the cage. Definitely the best possible outcome for him after his Middleweight Grand Prix elimination.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Huge victory for him here tonight, and a huge comeback in Union GP’s anniversary show!

[The crowd erupts as Aries Reed steps to his corner. Doctors tend to Zion for a while before finally helping him back up to his feet. After doctors and cutmen finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Willie Green has called for a stop in this fight at one minute four seconds in the third round, for your winner by TKO, “The Silver Tongued Devil” Aries Reed!

[The crowd continues to cheer as Reed has his hand raised in victory. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[Switching to cageside the first view is relaxed Navorro Williams dressed to impress fitting the Garden. The obnoxious MMA fighter has the nerve to have his feet kicked out in the walkway of others not giving a fuck in the slightest. People around him are annoyed. The expression on his face says negative fucks given. On his shoulder lies the newly won IJPW Shoot Crown Championship who he beat Heavyweight Mike Hunt for at Violence Dream 2. A hard-earned battle against a man that’s near twice his size. UGP Beat Reporter Bodie Sullivan makes his way over toward the UGP Middleweight who has refused to move his feet or adjust his position.]

THE SUN

THE MOON

AND THE STARS

THEY COULD NEVER BE BIGGER

ANY BIGGER THAN YOU ARE

[As "Point of View" by Twelve Foot Ninja begins to play over the PA system, Dallas Meechan makes his way to the main stage in grand fashion. Donning his gray fight kit trimmed in blue, Meechan hypes himself up by beating his chest while the crowd grows with cheers. He begins to make his way down the aisleway, soaking in the energy in the arena, while several coaches from his camp follow closely behind.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dallas Meechan has been one of the most surprising prospects throughout all of the Grand Prix tournaments in my mind. A relatively unknown young blood, Meechan delivered an impressive debut victory to officially enter the tournament, then shocked the world when he defeated the number one seeded Zari Aliyah with a masterful guillotine choke. To erase any doubters that his advancement was a fluke, he took it to the third round with Saffron Harris, before smashing her with some brutal knees to earn a TKO win. Now it’s his time to cap off this unpredictable run with a title around his waist.

CARRICK PRICE

I’ve spent a lot of time working with Dallas in the last few months and I can say that he is one of the fastest learning and developing fighters I’ve ever been around. He’s willing to fight anywhere and everywhere and will test any opponent wherever they want the fight to go.

[Meechan finally makes it to cageside, where he undresses down to his tights before getting inspected by the fight official. Once he's been cleared, Meechan races up the steps and throws his arms out like an explosion upon entering the cage. He jogs over to his corner, shadow boxing along the way and playing up to the crowd.]

CALIFORNIA LOVE!

["California Love" by Tupac ft. Dr. Dre bumps over the loudspeaker and Lauren Moore emerges to the stage wearing her pink and black walkout fight kit with crew members from her Real Killas camp following behind. Moore can’t help but flash her signature smile as she slowly trots down the aisle toward the octagon.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

We’ve seen the peaks and valleys through Lauren Moore’s tenure in Union GP, but since she’s made the move down to Bantamweight, we’re seeing a much more comfortable fighter. You take a look at her fights, and her losses come from a split decision loss to two-time Lightweight Champion Jordan Parker-Kane, a late third round stoppage from Delaney Donovan who will be getting his second Lightweight Title opportunity tonight, and the very controversial Misty DeMeans. Her losses have been razor thin and that’s her giving up twenty pounds.

CARRICK PRICE

She’s a tremendous wrestler. I know when we were preparing Delaney for his fight against her we had concerns about her ability on the ground. In my opinion she’s underappreciated because she keeps her nose down and grinds but this is a woman who is on a mission to prove she belongs in the conversation with the best this company has to offer. Becoming the first Bantamweight champion would go a long way to solidifying that.

[Moore makes it to cageside where she disrobes and hands off her walkout kit to a cornerman so she can get checked out by the fight official. Once she’s been cleared, she gives a hug to each one of her corner crewmen before racing up the steps and jogging a few laps around the cage before posting up in her corner.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for five rounds in the inaugural Union Grand Prix Bantamweight Championship! Introducing first, fighting out of the blue corner, a Muay Thai Fighter holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 3-0. He stands 5’10” and weighing in at 135 pounds. He is from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, fighting out of The ScrapYard MMA, he is “Playboy” Dallas Meechan!

[Dallas Meechan looks very relaxed as he bounces back and forth to keep loose.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Freestyle Wrestler holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 4-3. She stands 5’7” and weighing in at 135 pounds. She is from Irvine, California, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, she is “L-Mo” Lauren Moore!

[Lauren Moore doesn't look concerned about anything her opponent brings to the table as she keeps a sharp eye forward.]

CARRICK PRICE

The pre-fight body language from fighters has always interested me. Do you want to look cool and casual and try to make your opponent think you aren’t concerned, like Lauren is now, or do you want to be hyped up with boundless energy to try and convince your opponent you’re going to outwork them. Does it matter? I don’t know but it’s always been something that I’ve been curious about.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Alright folks, it's time for our first title fight of the night! The referee for this bout is the veteran Herschel Warden. He checks off with each fighter one last time and then calls for the bell! And this fight for the first ever Bantamweight Champion is underway!

RG_round1.png

[Lauren Moore and Dallas Meechan touch gloves in the center to get this championship bout underway. Moore comes out and tries to get ahold of Meechan. She does and gets him in a double underhook. The clinch momentarily before a smooth hip throw from Lauren pits Dallas on his back. A thud bouncing off the mat before Dallas quickly gets back to his feet not allowing Moore to pounce on top of him.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Lauren with a quick takedown right away.

[Meechan moves backwards wanting to reset as the fighters circle the cage. Meechan looks to find his distance aiming with a quick kick to Lauren's midsection that she blocks with her arm. Meechan rushes in and tries to grapple. He puts Moore in a double underhook! Moore doesn't want to clinch as she ducks under Dallas Meechan embrace and tries to move away...Dallas Meechan pushes Moore forward and doesn't allow her to break the clinch. Dallas Meechan feints an uppercut  to Lauren Moore ribs and then tries to trip her. Moore loses balance for a moment but she remains on her feet after a small struggle.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dallas looking to slow the fight down with the clinch.

[In the clinch Lauren launches a knee to Dallas's chest that he blocks. For a moment both fighters are fighting for superior position in the clinch. None of them are able to and Herschel steps in breaking the clinch. Lauren waste no time and shoots in grabbing ahold around Dallas's waist, showing her strength as she gets a point with a beautiful takedown. From the Scrapyards corner there is nothing but concern as Lauren looks for dominant position.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Another takedown for Moore. Those are going to add up. If Moore can do this all fight it's going to be a tough night for Dallas

CARRICK PRICE

She’s scoring points but she’s going to need to do more than just take him down. She needs to do something once she’s there. Positioning is great but if you don’t get any significant strikes in, or make your opponent work to defend a submission. Something.

[Lauren Moore gets in open guard over Dallas before Dallas closes his guard. Lauren works to get back to open guard. Doing so and letting go with some Hammer Fist that Dallas blocks. Meechan slips and gets to a high guard. Grabbing Lauren's arm he goes for the Armbar but the Real Killa easily breaks the submission attempt and jumps back to her feet. The fighters both hype the crowd up before looking for their striking range. Dallas shoots for a takedown but Moore slides out of the way from it.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Hammer Fist, no. Armbar attempt, no. Some solid defense being displayed on the mat.

CARRICK PRICE

Good to see her making an effort, though, and not just transitioning for the sake of transitioning. If I’m in her corner right now I’m very pleased with what I’m watching even if Dallas has defended well so far.

[Dallas Meechan found just enough of an opening in the defense of Moore, launching a big uppercut POP!! that wobbles Moore who legs spaghetti for a second but she's able to stay on her feet.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Moore's in trouble!

[The crowd in the Gardens jumps up expecting to see Moore drop but Dallas doesn't let go with more shots instead he shoots in for another takedown attempt and once again Lauren doesn't allow him to get ahold of her.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Moore's recovered from that shot quickly.

[Meechan tries to grapple. He puts Moore in a double underhook. Dallas Meechan shoots and grabs one of Lauren Moore's leg, attempting to take her down with a Single Leg. Lauren Moore sprawls and remain on her feet once again showing very good takedown defense. Still in the clinch Dallas looks for a knee to Lauren's face but Lauren blocks it before breaking the clinch and stepping backwards. Dallas trails her and let's go of a combination of punches. A hook leveling Moore that leaves a small cut on her cheek.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Another strike that almost rocks Lauren.

CARRICK PRICE

And he’s cut her just beneath her eye. Keep a watch on that, Harpy. If Meechan focuses on that he could cause a lot of problems for L’Mo.

[Moore launches a stiff jab trying to keep Dallas off of her. That barely hits Meechan's face but it seems like one finger has poked his eye! Does the referee see that? Herschel Warden saw it! Herschel Warden takes away one point from Lauren Moore for an eye poke. Herschel Warden halts the fight to give Meechan time to recover. Dallas Meechan seems to be ready to fight again. The fight resumes with both fighters standing. The crowd clapping as things get back underway.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I'm pretty sure that wasn't intentional. That's not L-Mo’s style.

CARRICK PRICE

No doubt, and Dallas seems to be aware of that too. Taking a point away from her was probably a bit hasty, especially given what we’ve seen in the past. But maybe that’s why they’re being a bit more strict now.

[Meechan goes to the body… He punishes Moore's ribs with a couple of hooks. Moore feints a punch and shoots a takedown! Dallas Meechan didn't see it coming and has been put on the ground! Lauren Moore is in open guard over Meechan. Moore moves on the ground and remains in open guard. Lauren lets go with some punches but they're deflected by Dallas.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dallas caught Lauren with some good shots earlier. She's glad to get this one back to the mat.

[Lauren Moore is in open guard over Meechan.

Meechan tries to close his guard around Moore and he does. Moore keeps working to get back to open guard but the bell rings announcing the end of the round.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Close round. Not much action. More of a feeling out process. I'll edge it by hair to Dallas, especially given the point deduction.

CARRICK PRICE

Yeah, I think you have to because of that and the cut that Meechan managed to open up. Hopefully we see these two kick things up a notch next round. Lets see if we can get a listen in real quick, though.

Dallas Meechan’s Corner Notes:

Find the range!

Good Round!

Watch for the takedowns!

Lauren Moore's Corner Notes:

Keep Setting up the takedown!

Keep being patient!

Stay out of his range!

RG_round2.png

[The second rounds opens up with Moore faking a jab then showing some footwork moving aside. She grabs Dallas by the waist and tries to take the fight to the ground. She does and scores the takedown as her corner cheers her on. She's in open guard over Dallas who tries getting to closed guard and he does. Lauren Moore is in closed guard over Meechan. Meechan is moving on the ground… BOOM! That was a headbutt! Did he do that intentionally? Herschel Warden didn't see the foul!]

[Moore is in closed guard and Meechan tries to roll on the ground! Nice reversal! He is now in full mount over Lauren Moore! Dallas throws the leg over and rolls it over into an armbar! Meechan is locking that Armbar and Moore is in trouble here. Punishing hold! This could be the end of the fight right here but Moore breaks the lock showing some skills though Dallas remains in Full mount over her.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That Armbar could've finished this fight. We were seconds away from crowning the first Bantamweight Champion.

CARRICK PRICE

That’s some of the best defense work I’ve seen, especially with how close Meechan was to having that thing fully cinched in. Props to Lauren for solid work there.

[Moore tries to roll to her side and trap Dallas Meechan in her guard but Dallas Meechan keeps good control and remains in full mount as Moore's corner eggs her own to get back to her feet. Meechan tries to keep his position while looking to maybe begin a pounding session. Dallas Meechan controls the situation despite Lauren Moore efforts for escaping from the full mount.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

It's really been a fight on the ground here so far.

CARRICK PRICE

I’m going to brag a bit here. Moore is a tremendous technician on the ground but this is the second time a fighter from ScrapYard has been able to keep up with her, at least to this point. That’s a solid pat on the back for my coaching abilities.

[Dallas Meechan is in full mount over Lauren Moore. Meechan tries to keep his position while looking to maybe begin some ground and pound. Dallas Meechan controls the situation despite Lauren Moore efforts for escaping from the full mount. Lauren Moore tries to roll to her side and get to half guard. Dallas Meechan rolls Lauren Moore to her stomach and takes her back! Oh no bad position for Moore.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Moore needs to get back to her feet fast!

[In the rear mount over Moore, Meechan tries to get a hook in! Things could get worse for Moore! Meechan has one hook in and keeps working! Meechan works on the ground with his fingers over Moore's face. He seems to have encountered the eye! What a classless move! Herschel Warden didn't see the foul!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Two fouls from Meechan go unnoticed now. I think Herschel Warden may need an eye exam after this fight!

CARRICK PRICE

I know that Dallas isn’t doing that intentionally but he’s really being a bit careless. Sometimes the bright lights can do that to you, though. You start to press and then things like that happen. Hopefully he cleans things up soon. You can hear his corner screaming at him to be careful.

[Meechan's still working to get that second hook in. Nicely done! Meechan now has two hooks in! The end may be near! Meechan is in rear mount over Moore with two hooks in working on a desperate Moore, who tries to defend herself and escape from this position. She's holding Meechan's arm defending well. Dallas Meechan gets sloppy and Lauren Moore tries to take advantage. Moore has to use some of her skills to escape safely from this position. Lauren Moore uses her ground skills to free one of her legs while working on the ground but Herschel Warden halts the fight to stand up the fighters. ]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Not a lot being done on the ground in this defensive affair. Whoever can find those strikes could possibly end up winning this fight!

[Looking for angles, Dallas moves in and throws a few jabs that are countered by Lauren Moore's punches. Looking for one big shot both fighters are swinging but they are wildly missing. Meechan switches to wrap up with Moore and gets her in double collar thai clinch! Three minutes has gone by in the round and it's still a toss up. Tied In a clinch Meechan gets himself into a good position and looks to change levels for the takedown. Meechan gets hold of a leg and trips Moore to the mat!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dallas has been working those submissions. He could be looking to get back to that right now!

CARRICK PRICE

He needs to tire her out a bit more unless something is just wide open, otherwise she’s got the ability to defend with the best of them.

[Meechan struggles on the ground and tries to popup and open Lauren's guard. He forces her to open it up faking a move and then going for a kneebar! Moore rolls on the ground trying to get free and after a few kicks of her own she escapes. Lauren goes in for the submission herself over hooking an arm and cranking! Meechan pulls his arm out of danger though and gets open guard over Moore.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Man, we just got a BJJ show from these guys.

[Dallas Meechan pushes Lauren Moore against the fence and then tries to improve his position. Meechan jumps and tries to free his leg! Moore doesn't allow this but Dallas Meechan is able to get half guard here. Moore launches a few weak punches and Meechan blocks them effectively. Meechan tries to free his leg by jumping out of Moore's guard. He moves quickly to side mount! Meechan looks to pass to mount. Meechan slides his knee across and achieves the mount position! Another tough spot for Lauren Moore whose trying to escape but Dallas pushes her down preventing her escapes. Meechan catches Lauren Moore's right arm and tries a Kimura. Moore  holds her own arm and struggles until she gets free and works her way back to her feet.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Lauren has been doing a good job of defending Dallas's submissions.

CARRICK PRICE

He definitely feels like he’s got the advantage there and it’s good to see him pressing the action, but again I’d like to see him try and wear her down more. Punish her with some ground and pound and then look to sneak the submission in.

[It's been a testament to the ground game here in the second from both fighters. Eyes locked onto one another L.Mo shoot for the takedown scoring another point. Meechan quickly clamps onto Lauren's left arm for another Kimura but Moore blocks it and uses the opportunity to pass Meechan's guard. Moore jumps to half guard but right at that moment Herschel steps in and stops the action. Herschel Warden tells the fighters to go to their corners as the round is over as Madison Square Garden debates on who the round.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Another close round. It's a toss up in this championship fight right now!

CARRICK PRICE

Both of them want it desperately, you can see that. There’s no lack of passion and conviction for this sport in this fight. I’m sure you can hear my sister screaming for Dallas, though. She desperately wants ScrapYard to bring both championships we’re competing for home tonight. And I think Dallas has it in him, but there’s a long way to go yet.

Dallas Meechan's Corner Notes:

Strike More!

Find A Rhythm!

Counter Takedown With Strikes!

Lauren Moore's Corner Notes:

Be More Aggressive On The Mat!

Watch His Submissions!

The Takedown Is There!

RG_round3.png

[Dallas comes out wanting to strike. Lauren shoots in holding Dallas Meechan's right leg. Dallas Meechan loses balance and goes to the ground! Moore is in side mount over Dallas. She gets good position on the ground.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Takedown after takedown. Those are going to sway the judges. OHHHH!!

[What an incredible flurry! Lauren's  just wailing away at Dallas Meechan! Herschel is saying he's going to stop it if Dallas Meechan doesn't defend himself! Dallas attempts to trap Lauren in his guard. Moore keeps control and remains in side mount. Meechan launches a few weak punches that Moore blocks effectively. Playboy gets sloppy and Moore takes advantage letting go with another rain of strikes. Herschel looks like he's going to stop it.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

This might be it. This could do it!

CARRICK PRICE

Of course, right after I said I thought Dallas had it in him. Man, Lauren really came out in a flurry this round and you’re right, Harpy, this fight is dancing on a razor thin line of continuing or being stopped.

[Meechan has a small cut on his nose as he looks a bit dazed. The blows being replayed as the crowd looks on. They thought it was over. Dallas just showed tremendous heart. Moore is still in side mount over Dallas. Meechan tries to stand up and after a struggle with Moore he does.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I'm surprised he got back to his feet. That was brutal.

CARRICK PRICE

He needs to be careful and not let her take him back down. But if I’m Lauren I’m pouring the pressure on him right now. Don’t let him have a chance to breathe and get himself back into this thing. Finish it now.

[You can hear the excitement from the crowd in MSG as they cheer on who they think is going to win. Both fighters circling plotting their next move.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Let's see how Dallas recovers after those elbows!

[Incredible high kick! Lauren Moore is wobbling! She got rocked as the crowd jumps on their feet. Moore goes in for that takedown but Dallas takes his corner advice, swings and forces Lauren to step backwards. Moore circles around Meechan. She shoots for the takedown again. Dallas swings again, but Lauren was quicker to the punch and gets Dallas off his feet to the ground. Those takedown points are adding up.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Every time Moore has gotten in trouble she's gotten the fight to the ground!

CARRICK PRICE

Great instincts for sure. You can’t teach that kind of response. You either have it or you don’t and L’Mo clearly does.

[Once again Lauren is in side mount over Meechan who is moving on the ground to get back up. Moore tries to counter Meechan's moves on the ground. Lauren Moore slides her knee across and gets to mount as her corner suggest going for the kill.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I'm not sure Dallas can take much strikes here!

[Dallas Meechan tries to roll to his side and trap Lauren Moore in his guard. He gets to half guard. Moore is trying to better her position on the ground and launches a couple of elbows against Meechan's ribs. Meechan is noticing these shots and his face shows the pain. Lauren goes for more elbows and Meechan blocks them. Dallas Meechan tries to close the guard but to no avail. Meechan launches a few weak punches and Moore blocks them effective before aggressively and repeatedly punching Meechan. That small laceration on Dallas Meechan's nose getting bigger. Moore tries to open up Dallas Meechan's defense faking a few punches. Repeatedly punching Meechan in the side of the head.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

The shots Dallas has taken on the ground has slowed down his movements. He looks hurt out there.

CARRICK PRICE

Definitely teetering on the edge right now but he’s shown a lot of heart to stay in this fight and that can be demoralizing if you’re the one looking to close a fight out. You throw everything at them and they still won’t quit.

[Dallas is desperately trying to get back to his feet but can't do it because of Moore's moves. Moore positions herself for a round of ground and pound and tries to finish the fight with some precise elbows! BANG, BANG, BANG! Meechan's being punished here!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Oh man! How is he taking those elbows!

[Moore sits over her knees and pushes away Meechan's leg! Lauren Moore is able to put away his leg and then jumps to side mount. Meechan tries to stand up! Moore doesn't allow him! while Herschel Warden halts the fight to stand up the fighters as the buzzer sounds.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dominating round for Lauren. If this continues I think we know who the champion is going to be.

CARRICK PRICE

She asserted herself heavily in that round after, I think, giving up the first two to Dallas. If you’re in the Killa’s corner I think you’re telling Lauren not to let up. But if you’re talking to Dallas I think you’re preaching patience and steady emotions. Let her press the action and you take advantage of her overzealousness. But, that’s just me. Lets find our what they’re actually saying.

Dallas Meechan’s Corner Notes:

Keep her honest with the strikes!

Leave it all out there!

You have to finish this fight to win!

Lauren Moore’s Corner Notes:

Keep the pressure on him!

Be cautious with the takedowns!

You're up on the cards, be smart!

RG_round4.png

[Championship rounds now and Dallas comes out looking for a finish with a kick to Lauren's skull. He misses as Lauren moves away from it. Lauren Moore moves forward and launches a low kick. Hard blow to Meechan's right thigh. Moore fakes a punch and shoots a takedown! Dallas Meechan didn't see it coming and has been put on the ground yet again. Tremendous work by Lauren Moore.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

If it ain't broke don't fix it Right?

CARRICK PRICE

She’s really done a nice job neutralizing his speed and his aggressiveness with her kicks and, more importantly, her takedowns. I still think he’s done a good job keeping up with her on the ground, showing some nice BJJ, but in a fight like this a highly skilled wrestler is going to thrive on the ground as the fight wears on. We may start to see that now.

[Moore tries to jump to side mount but Dallas Meechan closed his guard around Lauren Moore. Moore is in side mount over Dallas. She delivers some good punches to Meechan's body. Meechan tries to move on the ground and shows Lauren Moore a crack in his guard which she uses for a big elbow! Bang! Meechan's forehead receives a strong elbow that rocks his head against the mat! Herschel Warden knows he may be calling off the fight soon!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Lauren has become very aggressive with ground strikes. She's looking to end Dallas but he has a lot of fight.

[Dallas Meechan doesn't want to continue the fight in this position and tries to get back on his feet. He can't do it because of Moore's movements. Moore looks to mount Meechan…sliding her knee across she gets to mount. Moore launches a few punches to Meechan. Weak punches but Dallas still needs to improve his position! He tries to roll to his side and trap Lauren in his guard. Lauren Moore rolls him over and takes his back instead!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dallas just cannot get back to his feet.

CARRICK PRICE

He just looks fatigued, honestly. You can tell he’s going to fight till he has nothing left to give but, as much as I hate to say it, it feels like that may be coming soon.

[Moore is in rear mount over Meechan and is trying to get one hook in! Meechan tries to move on the Lauren Moore catches him with another he uses for a huge elbow! Bang! Meechan's forehead receives a strong elbow that rocks his head against the mat! Playboy keeps showing that heart though. Two minutes and forty five seconds has gone by in this championship round. Moore is trying to better her position on the ground and launches a couple of elbows against Meechan's ribs. Meechan is noticing that and his face shows the pain. Meechan tries to stand up! Moore doesn't allow him! Moore still works for that second hook and gets it. The end may be near!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I think Moore is looking for the submission here.

[Moore moves looking to sink in a rear naked choke and finish this. This is a nightmare for Meechan! Moore has one of her arms over Dallas Meechan's shoulder and is ready for a RNC! Dallas tries to defend himself and escape from this position. Moore looking to finish the fight.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Dallas is in big trouble!

CARRICK PRICE

Exceptional skill and her decision to really push the action in the third and now the fourth round have caught Dallas off guard and she may put this one away right here and now.

[Moore is in rear mount over Meechan with two hooks in Moore is in rear mount with two hooks in! He is working on a desperate Meechan, who tries to defend himself and escape from that position. Moore moves looking to sink a rear naked choke and finish this. Meechan tries to move on the ground gives Moore a shot for a big elbow! Bang! Meechan's forehead this off the mat and the lights go out for Playboy! What an astonishing KO by Moore who jumps to her feet to celebrate with her corner on becoming Union's first Bantamweight Champion.]

CARRICK PRICE

Jesus! What an elbow!

TOUSSAINT HARPER

What win for Lauren who just became the first ever Bantamweight Champion!

[The crowd explodes into cheers  while Moore is swarmed by her corner crew in celebration. Doctors tend to Meechan for a while before helping him to his feet. After the medical team finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Herschel Warden has called for a stop in this fight at four minutes twenty seconds in the fourth round, for your winner by knockout, AND NEW Union Grand Prix Bantamweight Champion, ”L-Mo” Lauren Moore!

[The crowd cheers once again as Moore has her hand raised in victory and the newly minted title wrapped around her waist. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. [A shot of Donnie Calabrese before his title fight with Derrick La'Bell is shown as a voiceover of his voice is heard.]

DONNIE CALABRESE (Voiceover)

I’ve worked my entire life towards this championship, this goal. Losing? That’s an impossibility in my mind.

[Things shift to Kennard Rozier who steadies back and forth while awaiting the bell in his fight against Amani Crawford.]

KENNARD ROZIER (Voiceover)

Nothing's ever impossible. What you speak you can receive and that's mondo facts!

[Victory was next as a clip of Donnie celebrating when he won the Heavyweight Championship.]

DONNIE CALABRESE (Voiceover)

When those camera’s click on, and those light hit that cage. There ain’t a damn thing that can stop me. Got it homie?

[The finish to Kennard Rozier and Amani Crawford flashes.]

KENNARD ROZIER (Voiceover)

Roads always lead somewhere. Mines has led me to where I'm at now. I can't see me stopping now.

[Pop! The punch that dropped Mike Hunt to help Donnie Calabrese have a successful defense is shown.]

DONNIE CALABRESE (Voiceover)

I’ve worked too hard, come too far to stop now! This my division, and ima keep my head intact!

[A small clip of the fight that happen in Jersey plays.]

[Donnie holding the strap flashes.]

DONNIE CALABRESE

You’re all about to witness the death of a gangsta,Tonight Pluggz gets plugged. And Real Killas Only, are gonna stand tall.

[A staredown between the champ and challenger ends the video.]

UGP15_Calabrese-vs-Rozier.png

LAME NIGGAS EVERYWHERE DO YOU SEE IT?

I FEEL LIKE RIPLEY'S DOG CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

[As "Juice" by Peirre Bourne plays Kennard Rozier enter view behind a custom mask over his face. He's wearing a black and tan robe that says Pluggz The Great on the back. He slowly makes his way to the cage.]

C'NOTES EVERYWHERE I DONE SEEN SHIT!

C'NOTES EVERYWHERE I DONE SEEN SHIT!

[Kennard stares at the cage while his coach Ray Delhomme's takes off his robe giving him some last notes. Kennard turns around and hugs everyone in his corner before stepping up the steps toward the cage. He turns around and takes off the mask he was wearing and throws it in the crowd. Turning around Kennard crouches telling himself a few things before stepping in the cage.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Heading to the octagon now is a man who has been soaring up the heavyweight ranks. Kennard Rozier currently sits at a perfect four wins and tonight he looks to make it five and bring a championship home with it.

CARRICK PRICE

He brings frightening power to the cage. Of course, when I get done with my six month binge eating without any exercise and come back as a heavyweight, I’ll still choke his bitch ass out but that’s neither here nor there. Tell him to tell me not to come to New York and I’ll drag my frank and beans across his..

[Carrick pauses for a second, realizing he’s getting a bit carried away.]

CARRICK PRICE

I’m sure he’s going to be a hell of a test for Donnie, though.

I DON’T TALK I LEAD BY EXAMPLE

PUNCH HIM DOWN WHEN HE FALL GET TRAMPLED

I’M A BANDO COMMANDO SLASH RAMBO SLASH

WILL GET ON YOUR ASS FOR A BAG THOUGH

[“Bando Commando” by Yavid plays throughout the arena and the crowd is on their feet. After a moment, “Dog Face” Donnie Calabrese enters the building and the fans are going wild! Calabrese holds the Heavyweight Championship draped over his shoulder and calmly walks down the ramp with a swagger that’s infectious.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And now here is arguably the biggest fan favorite Union GP has to offer, Don Mob — Donnie Calabrese. His journey to earning the Heavyweight Title has been well documented. Pushing through so much adversity, never to be deterred, and to finally reach the ultimate goal. But he’s not done; he successfully defended his title against another behemoth in Mike Hunt just weeks ago, and now he’s looking to do it all again and add the accomplishment of 2019 Grand Prix winner to his resume.

CARRICK PRICE

One thing people should realize by now is that you can’t ever count any member of the Real Killa’s roster out. This man pulled himself back up from the depths to become a champion and defend it. I do think that Kennard might have gotten inside his head a bit, even if he isn’t showing it now. We’ll see if that plays into this fight at all.

[Dog Face appears stoic with concentration, just bobbing his head to the beat of his music as he makes it to cageside and gets checked by the bout official. Once cleared, he climbs up the steps and heads straight to his corner, flexing for the cameras along the way.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it's for the Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 4-0. He stands 6’5” and weighing in at 255 pounds. He is from Kansas City, Missouri, fighting out of 9th World Performance Institute, he is ”Pluggz” Kennard Rozier!

[Kennard Rozier glares at his opponent from the opposite corner.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Boxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 7-4. He stands 6’1” and weighing in at 265 pounds. He is from Chicago, Illinois, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is the reigning, defending, undisputed Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Champion of the World, “Dog Face” Donnie Calabrese!

[Donnie Calabrese raises his fists in his corner as the crowd explode into cheers for the champ.]

CARRICK PRICE

Crowd loves him. There’s no denying that. Even in a place that Rozier told him to stay out of before fight night. The fans still love him.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Alright ladies and gentlemen, we are all set and ready to go for this Heavyweight Title fight. Our referee for this contest is Jordan Ripley. He checks off with each big man one last time and now calls for the bell! And this fight in underway!

RG_round1.png

[The champ and Kennard show no respect towards one another as they come out with blows. Donnie launches some jabs that are answered by Rozier with a stiff cross! Solid exchange not even five seconds into the round.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Wow! It didn't take long for this one to start off with the action!

CARRICK PRICE

That cross looked like it hurt and now Rozier is looking to capitalize on it.

[Rozier looks for angles as he throws a few jabs that are countered by Donnie Calabrese's punches before Calabrese is on the receiving end of a great combo by Rozier. Donnie looks to retreat and Kennard moves forward placing Donnie in double collar thai clinch!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That's not something we normally see from Kennard.

CARRICK PRICE

I don’t know if I like that strategy. Maybe it will pay off but when people get away from what they’ve done to get this far, in a match of this magnitude, it sometimes can spell trouble. We’ll see if it does.

[Rozier doesn't want to clinch anymore as he ducks under Donnie Calabrese embrace and tries to move away...but Donnie pushes Rozier forward and doesn't allow him to break the clinch. After both fighters don't find any action in the clinch Donnie Calabrese tries to break the clinch... Kennard Rozier launches a great knee when he finds a narrow space! Awesome impact! Calabrese stumbles backwards as the crowd jumps up expecting The Champ to fold to the mat.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That knee lifted Donnie's face up. The impact on that one was brutal.

CARRICK PRICE

Yep. Nevermind. Definitely no issues with Rozier in the clinch. That knee was nasty.

[Calabrese wants to close the range and tries to grapple with Rozier. Kennard doesn't want anything like this as he moves backwards keeping his distance. Calabrese launches some punches. Rozier launches a couple of jabs that are answered by Calabrese with a stiff cross! Another good exchange between the two.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Someone could fall here! The blows are landing.

CARRICK PRICE

Swinging for the fences. Gotta love it even if it’s not the best idea. But the big boy’s do seem to love throwing down.

[Calabrese shoots in for the takedown and Kennard hops back and delivers a powerful kick to his head!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

OHHHHH! What a kick. I'm surprised he's still standing after that one.

[Donnie Calabrese tries a hook to the body but Rozier manages to dodge it. Pluggz let's go with a lightning fast low kick from Rozier that Donnie doesn't check.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That kick sounded off.

CARRICK PRICE

Donnie is gonna need to be on top of minimizing the damage from those kinds of kicks if he’s going to survive. The moment he becomes a stationary target is the moment Kennard Rozier puts his lights out.

[Calabrese shoots in and grabs ahold of Kennard's right leg... He's trying to take this fight to the ground. Kennard shows great balance while pushing away Donnie Calabrese and sniffing the takedown. Rozier looks for the action and he and  Calabrese engage in exchange of punches! Kennard Rozier is getting the best of the exchange as he lands a few blows.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Rozier has really landed some good strikes so far in this round.

[Kennard Rozier steps forward and fires an Up kick! Vicious Up high kick, I can't believe that landed! Calabrese has a small cut on his Right eye. The champ  seems a bit groggy... his movements are not very coordinated now. Kennard Rozier aims and hits Donnie with another precise Up Kick while Donnie thought he was aiming for the body. The kick knocking Donnie's head off as he drops to the mat hitting the ground hard. The kick leaving Donnie unconscious. What a finish by Kennard Rozier! Calabrese's Left cheek is beginning to swell and there is a small laceration on Donnie Calabrese's Left cheek. Kennard runs and jumps on the top of the cage as he celebrates with his corner.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Oh my god! Those kicks were vicious. This man really has that sneaky power. Wow! New Heavyweight Champion folks.

CARRICK PRICE

Just a couple of misreads by Donnie there and this one is all over. Tremendous effort by Rozier. Congratulations to the new champion.

[The crowd explodes into cheers and Rozier is swarmed by his corner crew in celebration. Doctors tend to Calabrese for a while before helping him to his feet with a blatant look is disappointment. After doctors and cut men finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Jordan Ripley has called for a stop in this fight at two minutes forty-two seconds in the very first round, for your winner by knockout, AND NEW Union Grand Prix Heavyweight Champion, “Pluggz” Kennard Rozier!

[The crowd cheers once again as Rozier has his hand raised in victory and the title wrapped around his waist. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. DUH DUH DUHHHH DUH DUHDUH DUHHHH DUH

DUH DUH DUHHHH DUH DUH DUH DUHHHH DUH DUH

[The big screen bursts to life showing Natalie King and Andrei Kozlov tied up in the clinch. Both fighters pummel back and forth looking to take control, and then out of nowhere… One, two, three! King doesn't stop launching vicious knees in the clinch! A final devastating knee lands on Kozlov's chin! That pop was heard throughout the arena! The crowd erupts! The frightening power of Natalie King has left Kozlov sleeping peacefully on the canvas!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And this one is all over! Natalie King once again finishes the fight in under a minute! Unbelievable!

SOME LEGENDS ARE TOLD

SOME TURN TO DUST OR TO GOLD

BUT YOU WILL REMEMBER ME

REMEMBER ME FOR CENTURIES

[The scene spirals to another fight, this one between Delaney Donovan and Jeremiah Ford. Ford seems to be a bit groggy and Donovan is absolutely terrifying with his power in the clinch, violently punishing Ford with uppercuts. Jeremiah is taking more than he can endure and this fight could end soon if he’s unable to escape! BOOM! Donovan connects on another uppercut that snaps Ford’s head back and Bullfrog falls like he got shot. This is over!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And it is all over! Delaney Donovan continued his dominating performance over Jeremiah Ford and finishes this one off with a brutal combination inside the clinch!

JUST ONE MISTAKE

IS ALL IT WILL TAKE

WE’LL GO DOWN IN HISTORY

REMEMBER ME FOR CENTURIES

[Fast forward and again it’s Natalie King who is the central focus. King decides to launch some tentative punches. Natalie King takes the best of a brief punching exchange. King throws a hook that hits its mark and then unleashes a brutal high kick that absolutely flattens Tatum Momo’a. Natalie King turns and is swiftly embraced by her corner as they celebrate the sudden knockout victory while the cageside doctor is quickly ushered into the ring to check on the fallen fighter, blood spilling from the cuts she suffered at the hands of the victor dripping onto the canvas.]

CARRICK PRICE

So much for weathering the storm. Christ. What an impressive display.

NO, IT'S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME

HEAVY METAL BROKE MY HEART

[Snap to another fight where Delaney Donovan throws a wild flurry of punches while in the clinch! Sheckler is being hit hard here! Brutal punches to Sheckler's face while in the clinch! Sheckler can't take many more shots like those! Herschel Warden has seen enough! The fight is over! Sheckler was not intelligently defending herself! As Delaney is pulled off by the referee he flips Lexi the bird before returning to celebrate with his corner until the official winner was announced.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That’s it! That’s the fight! Lexi Sheckler ate one too many punches in the clinch and Herschel Warden saw enough to call off the fight!

COME ON, COME ON AND LET ME IN

I THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD FEEL

I NEVER MEANT FOR YOU TO FIX YOURSELF

[Natalie King is controlling the clinch and launches a vicious knee that connects, a crushing blow to JPK's face! The shot seems to open up that cut further on his right eye, blood constantly trickling down. Natalie is picking him apart as she delivers another three knee strikes to the jaw, each one being heard throughout the arena! JPK finally manages to break from the clinch as he ducks under Natalie’s embrace and creates some distance. JPK attempts a shot to take it back to the ground but Natalie King hops back and delivers a powerful kick to the head, knocking him flat on his back! Natalie immediately follows up by diving on him and raining bombs down on his face until Willie Green has seen enough! The fight is over! JPK was not intelligently defending himself!]

PATRICK CARSON

And this fight is all over! We have a new Lightweight Champion!

SOME LEGENDS ARE TOLD

SOME TURN TO DUST OR TO GOLD

BUT YOU WILL REMEMBER ME

REMEMBER ME FOR CENTURIES

[Switching again The crowd explodes as the final round of a three round fight comes to a close. Doctors tend to both Delaney Donovan and Xabier Belazco for a while before allowing them to exit their corners. After all work has been completed from both the medical personnel and corner crews, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

REMEMBER ME FOR CENTURIES

UGP15_King-vs-Donovan.png

HER BREATH BEGAN TO SPEAK

AS SHE STOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME

THE COLOUR OF HER EYES

WERE THE COLOUR OF INSANITY

CRUSHED BENEATH HER WAVE

LIKE A SHIP, I COULD NOT REACH THE SHORE

WE’RE ALL JUST DANCERS ON THE DEVIL’S DANCE FLOOR

["Devil’s Dance Floor" by Flogging Molly blasts over the loudspeaker and Delaney Donovan emerges to the stage wearing his Irish flag inspired walkout fight kit with crew members from his camp following behind. Donovan burrows his head down while slowly walking down the aisle.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Delaney Donovan is now making his way to the octagon and he looks like a man ready to vindicate his past opportunity at the title. Double D’s first shot was against Hanako Takeuchi, a fighter very similar to his opponent here tonight. While he put up a fight, it wasn’t meant to be. Since then, he’s been on a destructive path to get that shot back, and it’s led him here tonight.

CARRICK PRICE

There’s been a lot of things going on in his personal life too that have been kept out of the media and I worry that might have an effect on him. But he’s put the work in and he’s been entirely focused on this moment for some time. Boy, is the test he’s facing a big one, though.

[Donovan makes it to cageside where he is checked up on by the fight official. Once cleared, he climbs up the steps and calmly takes his place in his corner while shadow boxing along the way.]

BRACE, SHIFTING AGAIN

I SHOULDN'T KNOW BUT I DO

STAB, A HAND IN THE DARK

SEEDS THE KILLING FIELD

["Shira" by Glassjaw begins playing over the PA system, and the crowd grows loud with cheers. Soon, the dual-sport competitor, Natalie King, emerges on to the main stage. Her sights are clearly focused on the octagon ahead of her, as she doesn’t waste any time drawing closer with her corner crew following close behind her.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

The Bandit is here and this crowd is going crazy right now! Natalie King has been one of the most dominating fighters we have seen from the start. Sitting 5-0 and the title around her waist, her first three fights all ended in less than three minutes combine! It took her just two rounds to capture the Lightweight Title, and now she’s one win away from adding 2019 Grand Prix Champion to her list of already impressive accolades.

CARRICK PRICE

She didn’t promise it but she more or less alluded to the fact that she expected this one to be over quick, one way or the other. If it ends early you have to think it favors her and those ungodly head kicks of hers.

[King finally reaches cageside, where she strips down to her gear and gets checked on by the fight official. Once she has been cleared, she turns around to give a quick hug to everyone of her corner mates, then dashed up the steps, skipping every other level with her crazy long stride. King enters the cage and immediately throws a spinning heel kick, which fires the crowd up even more. She then calmly heads to her corner, where she awaits for the fight to begin.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it’s for the Union Grand Prix Lightweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger fighting out of the blue corner, a Muay Thai Fighter holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 7-1. He stands 5’9” and weighing in at 155 pounds. He is from Belfast, Northern Ireland, fighting out of The ScrapYard MMA, he is “Double D” Delaney Donovan!

[Delaney Donovan raises his fists in his corner. He seems confident in his abilities but also aware of the stakes ahead of him.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Dutch Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 5-0. She stands 6’ even and weighing in at 147 pounds. She is from Newark, New Jersey, fighting out of RAW Graps Gym, she is the reigning, defending, undefeated, undisputed Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion of the World, Natalie “The Bandit” King!

[Natalie King is beating herself up in the corner before the fight begins, smacking herself in the face, body and legs to get ready for this war.]

CARRICK PRICE

This is a massive fight. An absolutely massive fight for both of these fighters. For Delaney, where do you go if you don’t win tonight? Two championship opportunities in less than six months and unable to capitalize on either of them? If that’s his fate there will undoubtedly be questions about his ability to handle the big stage. As for The Bandit, a win tonight over one of the pillars of the lightweight division and everything you’ve been working toward is legitimized. Fall short and questions arise about the caliber of competition you’ve faced. Massive stakes. We’ll see who comes out on top.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

We are just moments away from getting this Lightweight Championship bout underway. The crowd is behind both fighters and this building is about to explode. Our referee for this contest is Dusty Whittaker. He checks off with each fighter one last time and now calls for the bell! And here we go!

RG_round1.png

[Buzzing with anticipation as the final moments before the beginning of the fight wane, the majority of the crowd is already on their feet. And then the bell sounds and announces the first round! As expected, Natalie King is the aggressor right off the bat, launching some tentative punches that simply force Donovan to defend. Immediately Delaney answers with two stiff jabs and Natalie counters with a stiff cross in a solid opening exchange. Pressing the action further, Natalie unleashes a brilliant combination that catches Delaney right on the mouth and draws blood. A smile crosses Delaney’s face and is returned with one from the champion as the challenger offers her a nod of respect.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That might be the first time anyone has drawn blood against the Irishman, but still he continues to carry his usual easy going attitude.

CARRICK PRICE

He might be smiling but there’s no doubt he’s taking her completely serious. She was able to take the best of an initial exchange and Double D is going to need to defend better if he’s going to survive long in this fight.

[Natalie fires off a solid one-two combination but Delaney defends well before responding with a solid jab. And then another. And then a third. As a fourth lands the referee begins to position himself better, worried that Natalie isn’t defending herself well as her chin shows evidence of the shots that had just landed. Smartly she fakes a punch and launches herself at Delaney, tying him up in a difficult thai clinch. The fans oooh at her decision to take the fight to an area that most consider to be Delaney’s strength. The decision to do so proves to be a costly one as Donovan quickly pushes her off and unloads with a flurry of hooks and body shots that send her stumbling backward. Double D is quick to chase the bandit down, however, continuing his reign of blows that connect nastily. Now it’s Donovan’s turn to tie Natalie up and Kings corner can be heard imploring her to defend.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That early combination from King seems to have woken the challenger up. He’s putting all kinds of pressure on the champion right now and I’m not sure how many more of those punches she can take.

[The instructions from her corner ring true in her ears and Natalie punishes Delaney for pursuing her in the clinch, slamming hard punches into his ribs that visibly pain him. The blows cause enough of a distraction for Natalie to gain a more advantageous position and from there she throws a brutal knee that connects flush with Donovan’s face, and then unloads another knee to the body. They come in quick succession and Donovan is forced to cover up before the referee eventually intercedes and breaks the clinch. As they separate and the referee steps out of the way, King goes for a low kick but Delaney narrowly avoid it, stepping aside before responding with a low kick of his own that snaps loudly off the champions thigh. He then measures her with a jab but it doesn’t faze her. Instead she responds with a brilliant combination but Delaney dodges the strikes skillfully.]

CARRICK PRICE

Back and forth they go. These two are just punishing each other. I don’t know how much longer this can go on, Harpy.

[Natalie fakes another punch and catches Donovan off guard, tying him up in a thai clinch. Again, Natalie unloads a knee to Delaney’s face that goes unblocked and then more knees to the body. Bang! Donovan can’t take many more shots like that. As always, King continues to be aggressive, faking a few punches before trying another knee but Donovan smartly blocks that one and takes a step back. He delivers a solid combination of strikes that connect cleanly and lead to full separation from the clinch. She responds with some tentative punches of her own but gets nothing from the exchange before she takes a step back and breathes deeply.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Interestingly enough it’s been King who has been more aggressive with the clinch, and to be honest she looks more skilled there. But the one thing we were unsure about with the champion is starting to show. Already she’s breathing heavily.

[Continuing to look to take the fight to the clinch, King moves forward to tie up her opponent but Delaney pushes her away to keep the fight at striking range. King stumbles backward and Delaney circles to get to the center of the cage, throwing some counter punches as he makes his escape. The Bandit answers with a solid middle kick that wrenches Delaney but he keeps standing and looking to fight. A few initial punches to test King are thrown before she responds with two jabs that are answered with a nasty cross from Delaney Donovan to the champions body. The blow lands hard and she seems hurt! Defensively she throws a few more jabs and Donovan lands another cross, his precision striking shining through. Just when it seems Delaney has the momentum, however, Natalie throws a brutal haymaker that Delaney just barely manages to avoid.]

CARRICK PRICE

Harpy I swear to god every punch, every kick, and every knee that is thrown by these two I’m convinced is going to end this fight and yet they’re still going.

[Quickly, Natalie closes the distance and the fighters find themselves tied up in a clinch again. Immediately the bandit throws a knee but Delaney blocks it. In rapid succession three more are fired off but again, Delaney seems to have expected them and blocks them well before pushing her away. She stumbles back clumsily and Donovan unloads punches upon her and the champion might be in trouble. Donovan’s corner is screaming for him to finish the fight while Kings corner is imploring her to fight back. She looks for an angle to throw a few jabs to try and slow the Irishman’s momentum down but he counters and King finds herself on the receiving end of another great combination by Double D. You can tell Delaney feels he’s got her on the ropes as he throws another flurry of punches that don’t fully connect, but glance off. However, one connects well enough to open up a cut on Kings chin. Ten seconds are signalled as being remaining in the round and the two fighters stand square in the middle of the cage. King firing off jabs, Delaney countering. An uppercut on the part of King connects with Delaneys chin but he answers with some great crosses just as the bell sounds and brings the round to its conclusion.]

CARRICK PRICE

Jesus, I felt like we just watched a full fight in one single five minute round. Both have drawn blood from each other and both had bright spots in the opening round, so if you’re a judge who do you give this one to?

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I think Natalie King gets credit for being relentless in her aggression but in many ways I think that cost her. Yes, she certainly got some solid strikes in but I think Delaney with the way he had Natalie scrambling near the end of the round will have the first scored in his favor. However, I’m not sure Delaney can keep taking those knees in the clinch for a full five rounds. If I’m in the champions corner, I’m telling her not to worry and to keep doing what she’s doing.

CARRICK PRICE

And if I was cornering Delaney tonight I would tell him to take the fight to the ground and finish her there. But these two clearly don’t want anything to do with that so I’ll just say a prayer for my countryman and pray he doesn’t get caught by one of those head kicks.

Delaney Donovan’s Corner Notes

Stay aggressive out there!

Keep close to her and take her reach out of the equation!

Watch the kicks!

Natalie King's Corner Notes

Start using your reach to your advantage!

Mix it up out there!

Stay patient!

RG_round2.png

[As the second round begins the two fighters continue to show each other an immense amount of respect, touching gloves as the action gets underway. Half a second passes before The Bandit unleashes a high kick and it connects flush! The crowd immediately pops to their feet having seen the result of those head kicks multiple times in the past but to their shock Delaney Donovan still stands, though he’s taken a step back and shakes his head trying to rid himself of the stinging pain. Instinctively he fakes a move and then moves laterally but King keeps the pressure on and the two exchange wildly. Donovan lands a few stiff punches forcing King to back down for a moment. Another furious exchange follows seconds later with Double D connecting a few more times. King halts his assault with a middle kick that the challenger is forced to block with his arm and the crack of bone of flesh echoes and draws approval from the fans. Doing his best to tag the champ up whenever she lands a strike, Delaney manages to catch her with a few more solid shots.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Natalie is applying the pressure and I’m still not quite sure how Delaney is still standing after that head kick to open the round. But he’s making her pay for every inch she gains.

CARRICK PRICE

And vice versa.

[Stepping to the side, Donovan launches a low kick that King checks expertly. She throws a middle kick toward the challenger that just misses and pays for it with a quick right hook that snaps her head to the side. She looks for angles and throws a few jabs but is countered by Double D, absorbing a wonderful combo from the challenger. Quickly, the bandit pushes forward and steps inside Donovan’s range, shoving him against the cage leaving him in plum position for the knee that soon follows. BANG! The knee connects flush and stands Donovan upright as King quickly ties him up in the clinch. Donovan’s ability at grappling in the clinch shines through however as he manages to quickly obtain a more advantageous position and lands a few stiff uppercuts. King looks to escape but Donovan doesn’t let her, though he immediately regrets it as she throws another brutal knee that connects with his face.]

CARRICK PRICE

Bomb after bomb. Hard punches and brutal knees. Someone’s going down this round. There’s no way these two can keep up this pace.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Anything you can do I can do better is the game they seem to be playing right now.

[Not wanting you absorb another vicious knee, Donovan tried to break the clinch but Natalie spots a narrow opening and slams another knee into the challenger, causing him to stumble backward. Clearly rocked, Donovan fires off a few tentative punches as he tried to collect himself and they’re just enough to keep Natalie from closing in as quickly as she would have liked. By the time she gets near enough, Delaney has collected himself and is able to deflect and sidestep a high kick that he likely wouldn’t have seen coming a split second before. Smartly, King circled back out of Donovan’s range and takes a deep breath, studying her opponent for another moment.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Oh, Delaney is lucky to escape with his life there. But again, The Bandit is having to exert herself a lot and you can see she’s forced to abandon her usual aggression to keep from gassing.

[That pause doesn’t last long and soon enough The Bandit is moving forward, looking for a hole in Donovan’s defenses. Springing into action, the champ locks her opponent up in a clinch but Donovan was baiting it and quickly grapples, throwing a big elbow that narrowly misses, causing Natalie to try and push him away. Though Delaney doesn’t allow her to do so, for the first time the action stalls and the referee intervened and separates the two fighters. In spite of the separation, though, the two immediately return to working from the clinch. King, as she has done so effectively through nearly two full rounds, fires off more knees but Donovan blocks them and pushes her away. The champ stumbles backward and Donovan fakes a move before launching a nice uppercut that lands on the champions chin.]

CARRICK PRICE

I don’t think anyone has ever hit Natalie like this, or as much as this. Look at how red her chin is after that big uppercut.

[King answers the big uppercut with a flying knee that Double D was prepared for, blocking it with ease. It leaves him vulnerable to another clinch attempt though and as soon as Natalie has her hands on him she fakes a knee. Donovan tried to break free to avoid it but King has thrown his timing off and he’s left wide open for her to follow up the fake with an amazing knee that finds its mark perfectly. Donovan’s head snaps upward and The Bandit throws a hard jab, but Delaney ducks under it and catches her with a perfect one-two combo. Again, Natalie steps inside his range this time wrapping her arms around the back of his head and pulling downward, landing another nasty knee to the face. It stands Delaney back upright but he still manages to fire back with a counter right of his own. King pulls downward again but Delaney manages to block the rapid succession of knees before breaking free of the clinch and slamming a bone shattering right hand into Natalies jaw. It’s the last action of the round as the buzzer sounds a second later. As the two fighters return to their corners, the fans are on their feet applauding the non stop action through two rounds.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

The champion is officially in uncharted waters. She’s certainly hit Delaney with everything in her arsenal yet he still stands.

CARRICK PRICE

You could say the same about Delaneys striking. He’s hit her with everything in the book but the champ still stands. I don’t know if either of them are listening to their corners right now either. They’re just staring directly across the cage at each other. I absolutely love it. Tell me, Harpy, where’s your scorecard at right now?

TOUSSAINT HARPER

I scored that round an even ten-ten. Both did some good things. Both were on the receiving end of some heavy blows. So I’ve got Delaney ahead by a point through two. How about you?

CARRICK PRICE

In a fight like this if you’re the challenger you want to finish it. Because if it goes to the judges they’re likely going to favor the champion. And right now I’ve got it scored one round for Delaney, and one for Natalie. Let’s see if we can get a quick listen in to their coaching, though, shall we?

Delaney Donovan’s Corner Notes

Don’t try and trade shots with her!

Stick with the game plan!

Keep her guessing!

Natalie King’s Corner Notes

Setup the kicks!

Keep moving!

Don’t play into his game!

RG_round3.png

[It’s all business as the third round starts with both fighters coming out of their corner showing wear and tear from the first two rounds of the fight. As with the first two rounds, The Bandit kicks off the action being the more aggressive of the two, snapping a nasty kick to Delaney’s leg that causes him to wince and take a step back, circling around the outer edge of the cage. King pursues quickly and puts him in a double underhook before trying to drive a knee into his body but Delaney has it scouted and defends it well. He quickly pushes her away and King misses a step, leaving Delaney with a wide open opportunity to counter and he does not miss it. Hard punches reign down relentlessly and the champion does her best to defend but she looks to be in some trouble. Closing the distance between them, Donovan unloads a series of quick low kicks and the final one buckles Natalie's knee, hyper extending it as agony momentarily flashes across her face.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Nasty leg kick by Delaney and he’s got the champ on the ropes. Dusty Whittaker is looking on closely now.

[Donovan is just a bit too hesitant though and it buys The Bandit enough time to land a solid head kick. Right after she snaps off a low kick but Donovan manages to avoid the nasty blow. The look in Kings eyes show just how badly she wants to win this fight as she presses forward, taking the best of a brief exchange and then unleashes a kick. Nobody’s home! The missed kick leaves her wide open to a violent leg kick from Donovan that snaps hard off her thigh. As she steadies herself after the kick, Donovan cracks her with a hard left to which she responds with a counter of her own. And then the two just stand center cage and swing wildly at one another, looking for that one shot to bring the fight to a rapid conclusion. Neither of them manage to land that lucky punch, though, and King smartly moves aside and tries to catch the challenger off guard with a furious low kick. Unfortunately for her he was prepared for it and managed to check it before backing away. King tries to cut him off with punches but he manages to avoid being cornered.]

CARRICK PRICE

I’m just so impressed with how relentless The Bandit is. She’s taken some rough shots but still she keeps coming forward and putting the pressure on Double D.

[Donovan goes with a looping right hand while Natalie jumps back and jabs. The big right hits but King shrugs it off not seeming effected by it and counters with a few punches of her own in a great exchange between the two. She tries to close the distance to grapple with him but Delaney doesn’t want to engage and backs off. As he does so King throws a solid kick to the leg that gets checked. It causes Delaney to delay in his retreat enough for the champion to draw closer to him. After a brief moment in the clinch that sees Delaney land a few shots to Kings ribs, the action stalls a bit and they are separated. Relentless as ever, The Bandit fires another low kick off that once against gets checked by the challenger before she backs away, trying to cool things down a bit and catch her breath.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Oh no, it looks like King is gassing out here with just about a minute left in the third. You have to wonder if that’s going to play a factor from here on out.

[As though she heard the question in the back of her mind, King finds a way to get Delaney back into the clinch for a moment and seizes the opportunity when he moves to break free from her grasp to bring her knee up rapidly, connecting with awesome impact. Donovan finds himself stumbling backward and being chased down by the Bandit. Defensively he throws punches, catching himself and standing his ground in a wild exchange that sees both fighters be a little less accurate than they were at the beginning of the fight. Still, King tries to make the most out of the closing moments by drawing Donovan into another clinch but before anything can come of it the buzzer sounds and the round ends.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Another tight round and I’m not really sure which way to call this one either. Donovan had King on the ropes midway through the round but Natalie found a way to finish out strong.

CARRICK PRICE

You’re right and often the way you finish out a round is what the judges remember most. I’m going to check that one in Natalie's favor and put the champion up two rounds to one.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Let’s give a quick listen in to each corner.

Delaney Donovan’s Corner Notes

Stick with the counter strikes!

Keep the pressure on her!

Championship rounds baby!

Natalie King’s Corner Notes

Don’t force the situations!

You’re looking tired out there, control your energy!

Championship rounds! Finish this fight!

RG_round4.png

[When the fourth round begins things start off a little bit more slowly with the two fighters circling, stepping forward, and then backing off. When they do finally engage it’s again Natalie King who starts things off with a nasty high kick that Delaney eats, the impact so loud you could hear it in the top row and yet somehow he’s still standing. There’s a momentary hesitation and you can see Natalie thought that that one should have put him away and it gives Delaney enough of a moment to shake the cobwebs out and steady himself just as she throws a low kick. Double D manages to hop back just in the knick of time but King pours the pressure on with a shovel hook. It fails to land but she continues to be the aggressor. When she tries to grapple Delaney has it scouted and manages to avoid being tied up in the clinch but he might have been better off as a low kick that he offered in order to maintain his distance leaves him immensely vulnerable to a counter leg kick that buckles his knee.]

CARRICK PRICE

Oh, that one hurt him bad. Keep an eye on that knee, Harpy. That could be the turning point in the fight.

[Desperately, Delaney retaliates as she closes in on him with a solid shot to the body that stops her progression. The look on her face says it all, she didn’t like the way that body shot felt one bit. Still, she answers with a low kick but Delaney manages to avoid taking another vicious shot to the knee and surprises The Bandit with a right hand that busts her lip. A poorly executed kick is thrown by King and Donovan blocks it with ease. The Bandit uses the moment to push Donovan up against the fence, but he postures up just in time and improves his position, launching a brutal series of punches from the clinch that has Kings corner screaming for her to escape. Instead, she fires a knee that Delaney blocks before unloading with more solid punches. Yanking downward on the back of Donovan’s neck, the champion answers with another nasty knee to Donovan’s face and the crowd erupts, cheering on the two warriors who had been unloading on each other in nearly non stop fashion for three and a half rounds.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

It’s an all out war here in Madison Square Garden. For nearly four rounds these two mammoths of the lightweight division have hit each other with everything they have and both are still standing. Both are still imploring the other to keep going. Regardless of the result this fight is not only a fight of the year candidate, but a fight of the century candidate.

[From the clinch Natalie continues to throw knees and Donovan blocks them before shoving her away. The champion quickly circles around the challenger, throwing some tentative punches. Donovan answers with a couple of jabs and gets caught with a stiff cross. As it has been throughout the whole fight, when one connects the other answers and Delaney continues that trend after the cross lands. A solid body shot gets thrown in The Bandit’s direction but she is able to evade, responding with a beautiful combination that Delaney somehow manages to bob and weave and avoid being touched completely by. Still pressing the action, Natalie looks to clinch but Delaney is starting to identify that as her primary gameplan and pushes her away. As she steps back Donovan delivers another one of those bone shattering right hands that he has landed periodically. King, trying to keep Donovan at bay now, leads with a bunch but Delaney sidesteps and counters with an uppercut that connects flush. Suddenly, Donovan spins, looking to land a spinning backfist but King spots it and blocks with confidence.]

CARRICK PRICE

Delaney with a little flash that amounts to nothing. I don’t want this to ever end, Harpy. Just let these two keep fighting. Cancel the rest of the card.

[A high kick flashes from the champion but misses narrowly. Delaney answers with a punch toward the body of the champion but it just grazes her arm. For the first time after looking for the body blows, Delaney steps back and breathes in deeply. King sees the opportunity and fakes a move before launching a liver kick that connects, nearly wrenching Delaney Donovan. That one clearly hurt by the expression on his face but Natalie is unable to capitalize, taking a moment to breathe in deeply before continuing to pressure the challenger. Once again the two find themselves back in the clinch. But it’s Donovan who acts first, firing off a quick series of punches that force King to back away and circle before stepping forward once more and firing a high kick. Donovan blocks it decisively as if to say “No KO for me, thanks!” King doesn’t stop there, though, throwing another high kick that just whooshes past his face and the look etched into his expression is one of momentary worry and then relief just as the round comes to its close.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

That’s four rounds in the book. We’re into deep waters now, Carrick, and now it’s not just Natalie King who is showing signs of fatigue, but Double D as well.

CARRICK PRICE

And this is where we’ll see what the challenger is made of. The Bandit has shown her ability to continue pressuring and putting the hurt on the challenger in spite of quite clearly being on empty. Will Delaney be able to maintain his counter striking ability?

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Five minutes remain at most. Five more minutes and we’ll know who our Union Grand Prix Lightweight tournament victor and champion will be.

CARRICK PRICE

It’s anybody's guess what the judges scorecards look like right now. An argument could be made for both of these fighters and you’ve got to be thinking that both of them want to keep it from going to those scorecards. For now, let’s get a quick listen in with the corners.

Delaney Donovan’s Corner Notes

Watch those kicks and the knees!

Keep doing what you’re doing out there!

You’re up on the cards, stay smart out there!

Natalie King’s Corner Notes

Leave it all out there!

Don’t leave it to the judges!

Finish this fight!

RG_round5.png

[Sweat pours down Donovan’s face as the bell sounds to start the fifth and final round. Natalie King heaves a deep breath and pushes herself away from the cage, willing herself toward her opponent where she begins her assault anew with a solid kick to the leg that draws a grimace from Delaney Donovan. It’s followed up with a second low kick that this time Delaney manages to avoid before countering with a straight right that wobbles the champion momentarily. She finds her footing in time to throw a brilliant combination that slows Delaney and forces him to duck and dodge to avoid being hurt. As he bobs he throws a hard hook to the body that batters Natalie's ribs. Fast and furious, King snaps her foot forward looking for a middle kick but Donovan dodges, throwing himself backwards to avoid it at all costs. She pushes forward, tying him up and Donovan takes a beating from her knees. One to the face and a series to the body before he manages to cover up.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

The champ pouring it on here in the early moments of the final round but…

[Finally able to block one of the knees, Delaney finds a little separation and uncorks a quick hook that rocks the champion. King throws a big haymaker of a right hand trying to halt the challenger but he jumps back and jabs, and it staggers the champion anymore. The crowd pops, sensing the end could be near as Delaney rushes forward and pours on the punches in jabs and crosses. King, trying to hold on, throws a high kick that Delaney ducks under but soon finds himself under a troublesome thai clinch by the Bandit. She’s unable to mount any offense from there, however, and Delaney slips free of her grasp so instead King decides to throw some punches to test the challenger but she’s caught by a wicked right hand from the irishman and her cheek is beginning to swell even more now. Quickly she closes the distance and clinches with him but Donovan pushes her away. She tries to tag him up with a right hand as he does so but it’s to no avail. Fatigue is etched into the face of the champion even as she throws another of her furious low kicks but there’s just not quite as much steam on it and Donovan is able to defend it and connect with another monster right hand.]

CARRICK PRICE

And now it’s Delaney Donovan who is pouring it on. I think Natalie is just worn out and even though she’s still pressuring him, he’s reading everything really well right now and those right hands are hurting her massively.

[A high kick thrown by the champion is avoided by the challenger, as is a right hook, before Natalie steps back breathing heavily. Now it’s Delaney’s turn to finally be the aggressive one as he ties her up in a clinch and shoves her against the fence. Pushing down on the back of her head with his forehand, he launches some punches to her ribs that she’s unable to defend. A camera gets a shot of the champions side and it’s beat red, matching a number of places on Donovan’s face from where knees from the champion had landed on numerous occasions. They continue to grapple for position, with Natalie trying to wear him down with knees that just can’t find their mark as Delaney blocks them away. As the last one is blocked Double D answers with a crisp uppercut that snaps the champions head upward. It’s followed up with a hard jab from Delaney that staggers Natalie backward.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Again Delaney has her on the ropes but just hasn’t quite been able to finish her off. You can see it in his eyes that he’s looking for that final, killing blow but it just hasn’t materialized.

[As the fight enters into the final minute and a half the two lightweight warriors continue to test each other. Punches are thrown and defended and, as has so often been the case throughout the fight, when they aren’t standing and banging they’re grappling and looking for an opening in the clinch. Delaney finds separation and space and lands a nice cross but Natalie answers with another low kick that wrenches Delaney’s knee. Ten seconds are left in the closing round and desperately Natalie lands a high kick that stuns the challenger but as she presses forward she isn’t able to do so quickly enough and he manages to survive as the final buzzer sounds, the crowd exploding with raucous cheers and Delaney and Natalie meet in the center of the cage, half embracing and half just holding each other up.]

CARRICK PRICE

IT’S ALL OVER! What an absolute war. Just look at the two of them. They’ve both left everything in that cage, Harpy, and that’s all that you can ask out of anyone.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Thrilling from start to finish and, incredibly, over the course of a twenty five minute championship fight not one second was spent on the ground. We witnessed expert striking. Vicious kicks. Incredible technique in the clinch. And, more than anything else, two fighters who were content to keep swinging until their bodies gave out on them or time ran out. And, incredibly, it was time that came to its end first.

CARRICK PRICE

Now it’s up to the judges, Harpy, and I don’t envy them one bit. Not for a single second would I want to be any of those three at this point in time. But listen to the love that this New York crowd is showing for both of these fighters.

[The crowd continues to cheer on both fighters as they get worked on by the medical team. Doctors and their corner crew work on each fighter, trying to re-hydrate and bandage them up. Once medics and corner crews finish their work, both fighters head back to the center of the cage for the official’s decision.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, after five rounds, we head to the judges’ scorecards. Judge Miranda Franco scores it 48-47 Donovan, Judge Max Carver score it 48-47 King, and Judge Ozzie Sebastian scores is 48-47 for your winner by split decision, AND NEW Union Grand Prix Lightweight Champion, “Double D” Delaney Donovan!

[The crowd roars with cheers once again as Delaney Donovan has his hand raised in victory and the title wrapped around his waist. Both fighters shake hands as a gesture of mutual respect before splitting off to each one’s crew. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

UGP14_ITC_GUILLIMAN.png

[The scene begins with a darkened shot of the Real KILLAS gym equipment room, which turn on as Guilliman steps in as always, dressed in his blue trunks and a grey Real KILLAS shirt.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

One more fight. That is all there is to it.

[After this the camera transitions to the training cage, where Guilliman is one more time sparring with a partner, trading punches and kicks. The partner goes for a punch, but Guilliman blocks and answers with a kick. This time it’s the partner who blocks, but the Primarch quickly follows up with a switch roundhouse kick that sends the sparring partner staggering to the cage wall. Coach Cipriano Carvalho steps in to intervene.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

I do not believe I am telling you anything you don’t already know. Eight wins, one loss. All wins via knockout, most of them in the first round. Still to be knocked out or submitted. Top records in the Middleweight Division, entered the tournament the Middleweight Champion, came to the finals still the Champion. And now the Middleweight Title is secured in the hands of the Real KILLAS regardless of the outcome of this bout. But to me, there is one fight that still remains.

[Back inside the training cage, coach Carvalho is giving the Primarch some tips, to which Guilliman listens attentively.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO

Bom, bom, muito bom. Mas lembre-se que Byron também pode ser tão perigoso como você!

(Good, good, very good. But remember Byron too can be as dangerous as you!)

[This time the camera transitions to the Primarch doing pushups, slapping hands with a partner as they go, under coach Carvalho’s watchful eyes.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

The Middleweight Grand Prix Finals, and the crowning achievement as the Union GP Middleweight Title. The first winner of the first tournament in the division, the only so far that came in with the title and still left it around his waist. Add to that the fact that I became the best Middleweight Champion in Union GP’s history at the very first round of the tournament, defeated Aries Reed and Zion Momo’a, arguably the two most dangerous fighters in the division to date, and what is there left? Nothing but history to be made everywhere I go. Nothing else to be but the greatest fighter in the history of Union GP’s Middleweight Division, and one of the pillars of the Real KILLAS camp.

[One more transition, this time to a close-up of the Primarch speaking to the camera, as usual, sweat visibly dripping down his chin.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN

Roscoe Robinson in the Cruiserweight Division and myself have represented the KILLAS as Champions, and have completely dominated our respective divisions. So strong has our dominance been that the people coming to face us are fellow KILLAS - and in my case, it’s Byron McCall. He already was a decorated veteran prior to signing up with Union GP, but has so far been undefeated since his first fight here, and I just as well expected to see him on the other side of the tournament. Well, here we both are now.

[Back to the training cage, and the sparring resumes. The Primarch and his partner slap gloves, and Guilliman takes the upper hand with a punching combination that the partner manages to block. The partner counters with a roundhouse kick that Guilliman dodges, and the Primarch replies with a middle kick that tags the partner, and forces him to step back. The Primarch now goes on the offensive with another barrage of punches and kicks, and back to the wall they go before the coach intervenes again.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

Byron McCall is a fellow kickboxer. I dare say we are evenly matched in our striking skill set. Great kicking, good power on his hands as well. Great dodging skill too, like Zion Momo’a.

[Another bout of sparring, and the partner attempts to dodge Guilliman’s strikes on coach Carvalho’s instruction. But Guilliman presses the attack again and it’s all the partner can do to turtle. Coach Carvalho nods knowingly.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO

Isso mesmo, isso mesmo Primarca.

Mantenha essa agressividade e vá para o final!

(That’s it, that’s it Primarch. Keep that aggressiveness and go for the finish!)

[The round resumes and this time Guilliman connects with a picture-perfect roundhouse that knocks the partner down. The coach comes again between them both to break up the fight.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO

Muito bom! Isso mesmo!

(Very good! That’s just it!)

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

But I’ve withstood dodgers. I’ve withstood heavy hands. I’ve withstood kicks as well, I’ve withstood takedowns, I’ve withstood anything that has been in front of me this time. This is not my fight to withstand, however. It’s Byron’s fight to come knock me off. Because for us KILLAS, there’s no other way to live or die, but inside the cage.

[The camera now cuts to Coach Carvalho, who just shrugs with a smile on his face.]

BJJ COACH CIPRIANO CARVALHO

È o Primarca. È o campeão. È o melhor lutador nela divisão, e ele só tem mais uma luta para vencer. O que mais posso dizer?

(He’s the Primarch. He’s the champion. He’s the best fighter in the division, and he only has one more fight to win. What else can I say?)

[Back to the slap-hands push-up session, and though completely drenched in sweat and breathing heavily, Guilliman isn’t letting down, but the coach tells him to take a break, and he grabs a nearby water bottle, which he drinks rapidly.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

I could say I have been satisfied by making it to this point. The title is secured, and Byron will pick up the torch from me should he win. The camp has scored a victory, and in its first year of existence, it holds most of the titles of Union GP in the first year of the promotion. UGP #15 is a celebration of the first year of both Union GP and the Real KILLAS, but for me - it is the final step. It is the pinnacle of my career. It is where I finish what I set out to do. I entered the tournament the Champion, and I either leave still the Champion, or pass on the title to a worthy successor. But I want just one more fight - to leave the work fully done. To cement my place in history as the fighter that did what no one else has done before. KILLA party or not, Byron McCall or not, UGP #15 is where I prove that I have accomplished my goal.

[One final shot of Guilliman’s back as he leaves the equipment room, giving the camera a final look before the lights turn off.]

ROBERT GUILLIMAN (Voiceover)

To become the greatest… of all time.

[Fade to black.]

UGP15_Guilliman-vs-McCall.png

NOW YOUR HEROES HAVE FALLEN.

CHAMPIONLESS,

THE SEAS ARE RISING.

SO TORCH EVERY BANNER.

["Idols and Anchors" by Parkway Drive shreds over the PA System and the veteran Byron McCall emerges to the main stage wearing his walkout fight with his Real Killas MMA crew following behind. McCall never breaks stride with a stoic look across his face, a look of focus from the decorated fighter.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Byron McCall makes his way to the octagon and he knows this is a big opportunity for him. He’s a two-time champion in Caged Glory FC, and you know he wants to capture a title here in Union GP. He’s been exceptional in his tenure, taking down the likes of Navorro Williams, going the distance with a powerful Brendan McCarthy, and finishing off the young submission specialist Asher Jrue to make it to this point tonight.

CARRICK PRICE

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Byron McCall is one of the toughest tests for any fighter at any weight class. He’s only seemed to improve since our time together in Caged Glory and I think this just might be his night. But man oh man, the test before him is a monumental one.

[McCall reaches cageside where he strips down to his trunks and gets inspected by the fight official. Once he’s cleared, McCall goes around one-by-one with his corner crew and gives each one a hug before racing up the steps. Once inside, McCall jogs a few laps around the octagon before posting up in his corner and begins rolling his neck to stay loose.]

ANGELS OF DEATH BY DOYLE W. DONEHOO

BEGINS TO PLAY

[The arena lights die down for a brief moment as the chords of "Angels of Death by Doyle D. Donehoo blare throughout the P.A. system, then flicker between blue and white as "The Primarch" Robert Guilliman strides out of the entrance. The crowd grows with cheers to show their adoration for the lethal champion. Guilliman makes his way down the aisle with members of the Real Killas camp following close behind.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And now comes the fellow Real Killa and Middleweight Champion, The Primarch! What can be said about this guy that we haven’t already gushed about before? He continues to be a force with each fight, and he’s done it against the best in the industry. Will history repeat itself again tonight, or will we finally see it rewritten in the Middleweight Division?

CARRICK PRICE

This man may be the class of Union Grand Prix. He’s done a nice job carrying the Middleweight Championship with respect and poise after a rather nasty feud between him and Cristian Bonano. I can’t lie, I wouldn’t mind seeing Bonano back just to spice things up a bit. I know he was rumored to have signed on again. But that’s beside the point. If anyone is going to put the Primarch to the test, it’s going to be McCall. But as we all know, one mighty kick could spell another championship defense for Robert Guilliman.

[Guilliman marches down the aisle decidedly, with a heavy air of concentration about him, then salutes solemnly to the audience and staff. He finally reaches cageside, where he strips down and gets checked by the fight official. Once he’s been cleared, he enters the cage and starts a small warm-up routine.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the Co-Main Event of the evening! The following contest is scheduled for five rounds and it's for the Union Grand Prix Middleweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger fighting out of the blue corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 20-7. He stands 6’2” and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Boston, Massachusetts, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is ”The Last” Byron McCall!

[Byron McCall raises his fists in his corner. He seems confident in his abilities tonight.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 8-1. He stands 6’1” and weighing in at 185 pounds. He is from Los Angeles, California, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is the reigning, defending, undisputed Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion of the World, ”The Primarch” Robert Guilliman!

[Robert Guilliman looks very relaxed as he keeps his focus on his opponent across the octagon.]

CARRICK PRICE

We’ve seen a war already. I want to see a highlight reel knockout by one of these two. Just something that makes you say daaaaaammmmmnnnnnn.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

It’s a finish that many predict for this fight. Both of these guys have very similar styles. They train together in Long Beach, so you know they are very familiar with each other’s tendencies. But it’s time now to put those speculations to rest and witness slugfest in the making. Our referee for this title fight is Willie Green. He checks off with each Killa one last time and gets this fight going with the call for the bell. Here we go!

RG_round1.png

[The opening bell sounds and both Robert Guilliman and Byron McCall touch gloves in the center to get this fight started. Guilliman wastes little time and launches a furious low kick. McCall gets clipped with the kick and it appears that he hyper-extended his left leg. Guilliman's mind is definitely in the fight, McCall just got nailed! Robert Guilliman sees an opening and follows up the kick with a big right hand. McCall eats the punch and he’s definitely going to have a headache after that vicious blow.]

[Guilliman fires off another low kick to maintain his range and it just barely hits McCall's ankle. Guilliman and McCall circle around for a moment before stepping in and engage in a wild exchange of punches! McCall is getting the best of the exchange as he lands a few clean shots. Both fighters continue to trade blows back and forth and this one could be over soon if either one lands a lucky punch.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

No time to waste with these guys here! Two high volume strikers doing what they do best.

[A body kick by Robert Guilliman just grazes his opponent and McCall circles away. Guilliman fakes a move and launches a liver kick, but McCall blocks it and pushes Guilliman back before circling out of any further danger. Byron McCall looks to counter and he looks for an opening. He goes to the body and punishes Guilliman's ribs with a couple of hooks.]

CARRICK PRICE

Good strategy by McCall looking to avoid and counter. Those rib shots could pay dividends if this fight gets into deep water.

[Guilliman winces in pain for just a short moment before launching an incredible high kick! McCall reads it well as he deflects the kick and side steps out of Guilliman’s striking range. Guilliman rushes in and launches a good looking front kick, but Byron McCall was ready for it and blocks it perfectly.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Byron McCall is playing a nice defensive game with the champion right now, blocking and dodging to avoid any serious damage.

[The Primarch looks to have built up some frustration as he wildly throws a spinning back kick. Byron is able to read and react and puts up his arms to deter the impact. Guilliman moves forward fast but McCall feints a move and causes Guilliman to stutter step back out. Guilliman fires off an unorthodox punch to McCall's torso that hits its mark and that one looks like it has caused some problems for Byron.]

CARRICK PRICE

I don’t know what in the hell that was but it was absolutely effective.

[Guilliman decides to launch some tentative punches and Byron McCall takes the best of a brief punching exchange. A shovel hook by Robert Guilliman goes nowhere. Guilliman gets a bit sloppy with his setup and it allows Byron McCall to counter with a furious low kick! Guilliman gets smacked hard on his right leg. Guilliman retaliates with a low kick of his own that connects clean and Byron’s leg buckles at the knee! McCall is hesitant to counter back which allows Guilliman enough time to set up a remarkable tornado kick! McCall gets starched and hits the ground like a rag doll! That surgical strike by Robert Guilliman has left McCall unconscious on the mat!]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And this one is all over! The Primarch does it again! What an incredible tornado kick to shut Byron McCall’s lights out!

CARRICK PRICE

And to be honest I thought McCall had fought the better fight in the early goings but man did I get what I wished for or what?!

[The crowd explodes into cheers at the sight of yet another head kick finish from The Primarch. Guilliman however doesn’t celebrate, but rather bows his head to his campmate with respect and watches on as the medical staff tend to McCall. After doctors finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Willie Green has called for a stop in this fight at two minutes nine seconds in the very first round, for your winner by knockout, AND STILL Union Grand Prix Middleweight Champion, “The Primarch” Robert Guilliman!

[The crowd cheers once again as Guilliman has his hand raised in victory and his title wrapped around his waist. Both fighters forego a handshake and instead give each other a hug as a gesture of mutual respect before being greeted by the rest of their camp. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]

[Prior to the main event the lights in the arena begin to shut off gradually, and a small light show takes place before the fans in attendance all turn their attention to the video screen above the cage as a video begins to play. A small montage of Union GP’s inaugural champions being crowned at UGP 4 is shown, including Jordan Parker-Kane’s submission victory over Hanako Takeuchi for the Lightweight Championship, Daniel Fisk’s vicious TKO of Seth Daniels to gain the Cruiserweight Championship, Jeremiah Ford failing to answer the bell after being punished by Cristian Bonnano in the Middleweight Championship fight, and finally Ferdinand Diao’s flash knockout of Derrick La’Bell in the first round to win the Heavyweight Championship. Finally, we then see the finish to tonight’s Bantamweight Championship fight again, where Lauren Moore managed to defeat Dallas Meechan.]

[The montage ends and the lights fixate solely on the cage, where the fans react to Union GP’s Executive Vice President Heidi Kanensson as she stands in the center of the cage next to a glass podium half-draped in a red velvet cover. A camera man standing in front of her captures a shot of the podium for a short second before panning back to Kanensson, who raises the microphone to her lips.]

HEIDI KANENSSON

Everywhere you look these days, be it in this sport, or others - championships seem to mean less and less. Their prestige diminished by those who’ve simply been handed opportunities without working hard enough for them, or athlete’s who don’t treat their championships with the respect and acclaim they deserve. Since its inception, Union GP has been one of the few exceptions to the rule. As of the culmination of the Bantamweight Championship Tournament tonight we’ve seen five championships introduced to this company, with each inaugural champion just as deserving as the last. They’ve had to work, scratch, claw, gameplan - hours in the gym, sacrifices made. That’s what this sport is about. What you see here in this very cage is a mere window into the life of a fighter, and whilst this is the culmination of all the hard work, it’s the easiest part of the whole journey.

[She then looks to the podium, her free hand resting gently on the velvet cover for a moment as she continues.]

HEIDI KANENSSON

To be a world champion in your weight class is...a special feeling. I’ve been fortunate enough in my career to attain that goal - but there’s an echelon higher, one that so very few are able to get to. To defeat all comers. In any weight class. That’s why I’m here to introduce to you...

[Kanensson slowly lifts the velvet, revealing a Union GP branded belt almost identical to the other weight class belts, though at the same time, distinctly different. She hands the velvet off before pointing at the belt.]

HEIDI KANENSSON

...The Union GP Openweight Championship belt! This division is open to anyone. Any weight class. Any gender. Anyone signed to a Union GP Fighter contract can compete in this division in an attempt to work your way to this championship. Just like all the other championships this company has introduced, our fighters are going to have to work for this, the same as before. In the coming months we’ll hold a tournament to crown our first Openweight Champion. To any interested fighters, all I have to say is good luck, and to all of our fans here in attendance and watching at home, enjoy the main event!

[With that Heidi picks up the title, walking out of the cage with it as some stagehands come into the cage to remove the podium as the lights quickly return to normal.]

UGP15_ITC_FISK-PROMO.png

[The skyline of New York City at nighttime. There are only a few other places in the world that light like it. Even then it still doesn’t compare each place has its own flair. The city that never sleeps is still awake in all its glory. The camera pans along for a while but then it zooms in to rest on the Hudson River. The waters known for holding many bodies and impurities washes against a ferry coming across the way from New Jersey to New York.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

When I was young my Moms would line all six of us up and throw us in the car. Aint matter if we were kicking and screaming because we wanted to play another round of Tekken. Aint matter what girl you had planned to be calling the house phone at a certain time. When she felt it we would go. Get on a ferry similar to this one and take that short less than 10 minute trip from Jerz to NY.

[The camera view switches quickly to Daniel Fisk Jr standing in that ferry shown earlier. His hands inside of his RK General hoodied up with his baggy pants leading down to his black/blue Navy Blue & Natural Sand Wallabees on his feet. He stands tall staring at the view while people maneuver around the ferry behind him.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

You can say I’ve been had experience in watchin’ greatness from a short yet oh so close distance.

[The video cuts to UGP Cruiserweight Champion Roscoe Robinson knocking out Viktor Volkov for his first defense becoming the only Cruiserweight Champion able to defend his title.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

It’s hard sometimes to see it because no matter what you tell yourself, you want to be a part of that. You want to have a piece of that. You do want that. Keep it a 100.

[The video cuts of UGP Cruiserweight Champion Roscoe Robinson knocking out Nathan Lucas earning his second title defense. Cuts back to the ferry of Fisk watching the NY sky.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

I can’t call it jealousy because, in my head and heart, I love every single one of my brothers and sisters that call RK home. They stay loyal. They stay down. That’s why I stay loyal and I stay proud. I will always support. But afterwhile the young boy on the ferry gets tired of watching the skyline. Especially when he was at one point a part of that skyline.

[The video plays to the night of UGP 4 to Daniel Fisk holding up the UGP Cruiserweight Championship yelling out to the Atlantic City crowd. The camera cuts back to Daniel Fisk taking in some of that good ol’ Garden State harsh air and exhaling. The announcement that they are soon to cross the state line into NY is heard throughout the ferry.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

Watching, watching, watching…

[The video plays as Fisk Jr is yelling out instructions for Roscoe Robinson to follow from cageside in the midst of his bout against Seth Daniels getting his 4th title defense. Fisk takes Robinson’s wrist throwing it up in victory.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

And at your expense.

[Video cuts of Daniel Fisk Jr waking up after being knocked out for the first time in his career which earned Roscoe Robinson the title.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

It would break an a lesser nigga. Crabs in a bucket mental. Me? Naww. OG respects. I respect what is earned & I give the nod to the Killa way. And the real ones who see that adversity and get hit with that disappointment. That shit that hits you square as he did. As the refs did...

[Video cuts of the split decision loss for Daniel Fisk Jr to Nathan Lucas.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

That just brings that gospel out ‘em.

[Video cuts of Daniel Fisk knocking out Alexander Irvine, Maxine Ball, and Jakko Wirman all in the first round in devastating fashion. The camera aligning back to the ferry reaching the port near the Lincoln Tunnel, closest to Madison Square Garden. Fisk Jr steps off of the ferry along with a load of people and starts his way down 12th Ave. He takes the hoodie part off his head and lets the air breeze through him.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

I could keep watching. Hang it up like some before me but thats bitch to me. Early in my career, I prayed for it not to be easy. I was winning a lot and wasn’t greatly contested. I was given an answer by the name of Tom Pendergrass. After winning the UGP Cruiserweight Championship in the first tournament I said I wanted my first defense to be a legitimate one. Roscoe Robinson answered that particular prayer in more ways than one.

[Fisk walks making his turn at W 34th Street and takes his time seeing the sights he’s seen all his life. Enjoying it as if it was the first time. Smiling, confident, and relaxed. People are noticing him now more than on the ferry they start to rush him and he shows love all the while making his way down the street.]

DANIEL FISK JR. (Voiceover)

The Shooter. The Son. The Flag. The Work. My boy, my boy, you shot the Godfather and shocked the world.

[The people keep coming toward him as he takes the long trek down 34th. Finally the turn his made on 8th Ave where the legendary structure that is Madison Square Garden is in view only a block away. The camera close in on Fisk’s eyes as he looks at it in the distance.]

DANIEL FISK JR.

And just as the stars aligned before, here they be again. From Barclays to MSG. From starting point to finals. It’s time to return that favor. Get it even. I gotta knock the floral painting out that suit cuh. The skyline ain't good enough to just watch anymore. It’s time to show you the worst thing you can do is give a father...time. God coming. Fuck a redemption nigga. I never needed it.

[The camera moves off of Fisk and lands on the epic Madison Square Garden then fades.]

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

I’M A GOD IN THE HOOD, NIGGA

[The crowd goes in cheering wildly in the midst of nodding their heads to the beat. Ladies get to screaming at one of the best looking fighters out. Daniel Fisk Jr walks out with his Real Killas team behind him the hood of his robe staying over his head while he gives that grim face to the camera right in front of him. 4 Cuban link chains hanging from his neck. That's the only showman part Fisk's plays though as he walks to the cage keeping his focus on the cage and only the cage as fans reach out to touch him. He nods his head slightly keeping his business like demeanor while all the power he's looking to unleash is moments away from opening.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Heading out to the octagon now is a man that goes by many names. Whether it's ”.44”, ”Deep Water”, ”The Godfather”, or anything else, the man Daniel Fisk is synonymous with mixed martial arts. It's hard to argue that anyone else has given as much back to the sport as this man. It's been a long time since Fisk has been back in the title picture, and you have to believe he's not going to waste this opportunity.

CARRICK PRICE

We don’t always see eye to eye, and I don’t know that he’d call me a friend, but Daniel Fisk was a major part of my development as a young fighter. The mentality that he instills in the fighters at Real Killas is something that he helped to place deep in the heart of who I am and was as a mixed martial artist. I don’t know that there is anyone I would rather see standing across from me less than Fisk if I was still competing. He’s tremendously talented, takes every single day seriously, and is relentless in his drive to be the best version of himself he possibly can be. Harpy, I know you haven’t always seen eye to eye with him but whether you get along personally or not there’s no denying what Fisk means to this sport.

[Reaching the pad, his expression never changes as he takes off the fight robe and house mortgage on his neck. After getting checked in he slowly walks the stairs until he reaches the entrance. He stands there and slaps both sides of the cage before walking in calm and easy. Fisk stares at his opponent while walking to his corner and nods in approval. Reaching his corner he rotates his wrists and warms up wanting every bit of the action.]

I WON’T DENY IT, I’M A STRAIGHT RIDAH

YOU DON’T WANNA FUCK WITH ME

GOT THE POLICE BUSTIN' AT ME

BUT THEY CAN’T DO NOTHING TO A G

[The beat of “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” by 2Pac bumps over the PA system as the piano tones can be heard through the bass. A spotlight shines down onto the entrance where “The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson emerges to the main stage, the Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Championship around his waist. Followed by an entourage of coaches and security guards, Robinson proceeds down the aisle, his eyes focused on the cage, calm in the midst of battle.]

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And now the final walkout of the night, ”The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson. We have seen a superstar develop before our very eyes with this guy and he's become one of the biggest names in our sport. A man that has taken down icons of the game, including the man he faces tonight. With each fight, Roscoe has continued to improve, but you know he has to think this rematch is his toughest test.

CARRICK PRICE

What makes this fight truly interesting, I think, is that Roscoe Robinson is like a younger version of Fisk himself. There’s so many similarities. They carry themselves in the same way. What a matchup this is going to be. You’ve got to love the cool confidence that the champion carries himself with. And there’s no denying the results. He and Robert Guilliman have truly been the faces of the fight game. Steady, unwavering and supremely talented. As good as Daniel Fisk is, this is a monumental task that he’s presented with. Two titans colliding. I don’t know what to expect to be honest. I would love for it to go for a full five rounds but I just don’t know that that’s realistic.

[Roscoe makes it to cageside, where he strips down to his trunks and walks over to have the fight official do his inspections. Once he’s been cleared, he races up the steps and pounds his chest as the crowd continue to roar with cheers.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

[A ferocious stare down is given by Fisk while Herschel Warden recites the rules to him.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, a Kickboxer holding a professional mixed martial arts record of 9-1. He stands 6’1” and weighing in at 215 pounds. He is from Long Beach, California by way of Atlanta, Georgia, fighting out of Real Killas MMA, he is the reigning, defending, undisputed Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Champion of the World, “The Shooter” Roscoe Robinson!

[Roscoe Robinson looks like he has been waiting for this fight forever with a fierce focus look on his face.]

CARRICK PRICE

Call it a killa party, I just hope it doesn’t end quick.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And here we go with the final title fight of the night! Two colossal giants in the MMA industry are ready to throw down and you better believe sparks will fly! The referee for this bout is the seasoned vet Herschel Warden. He checks off with each Kills one final time and now calls for the bell! And here. We. GO!

RG_round1.png

[The bell announces the first round! Roscoe Robinson and Daniel Fisk close the distance and touch gloves. Robinson looks to be in very good shape as he stays light on his toes, bobbing and weaving back and forth. Roscoe darts in and fires off a lightning fast low kick that snaps off of Fisk’s thigh and echoes throughout the building. The Shooter quickly backs off before Fisk could counter, which shows a lot of respect from the Real Killa founder.]

CARRICK PRICE

Blinding speed to get in there with that kick and Roscoe smartly gets right back out. The last thing you want to do is be on the receiving end of those counters from 44.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

From the last couple of fights we have seen from Fisk, it's no secret the kind of damage he brings with those hands.

[Fisk rushes in with some rapid punches and he takes the best of a brief punching exchange. Daniel finds his range and unloads with a monster right hand! That right hook clips Roscoe right on the cheek and he gets rocked! Roscoe circles away to avoid anymore damage and reveals a small cut just under his left eye.]

CARRICK PRICE

OH! Fisk just opened the champion up with a massive right hook. He didn’t get it all but Roscoe clearly doesn’t want any more of that.

TOUSSAINT HARPER

Those hands are like cannons, Carrick!

[Roscoe continues to circle around, baiting Fisk into his range. The Shooter times a perfect low kick that connects uncontested and it looks like Fisk has hyperextended his knee! Fisk’s leg looks like a wet noodle as he hobbles toward his opponent, still looking for action. Fisk is able to get Roscoe in double overhooks while Roscoe tries to fight him off. Fisk is able to use his superior strength advantage to keep hold of the clinch while Roscoe continues to try and wiggle out from it.]

CARRICK PRICE

Oof, Fisks leg looks bad but he’s still hungry for more. Getting him in the clinch is probably the best choice until he can get some feeling back in that leg.

[Both fighters pummel back and forth. Fisk is absolutely terrifying with his power in the clinch, and begins violently punishing Robinson with uppercuts! Roscoe is taking more than he can endure but there doesn't seem to be any escape from it! This could end soon if Robinson is unable to escape! And there it is! Down goes Robinson! He's out cold! That phenomenal knockout has put the rest of Cruiserweight Division on notice!]

CARRICK PRICE

……….

TOUSSAINT HARPER

And this one is all over! Daniel Fisk with the heavy hands puts this one away in the opening round!

CARRICK PRICE

Wow. I’m at a loss, Harpy. I don’t know what I was expecting but that was absolutely not it. Those uppercuts had terrifying power behind them.

[The crowd explodes into cheers and Daniek Fisk gives that hundred-yard stare, trying to register what has just happened. The medical team tends to Robinson for a while before eventually helping him up to his feet. After doctors finish their work, both fighters meet back to the center of the octagon for the official call.]

MIKE DEMPSEY

Ladies and gentlemen, referee Herschel Warden has called for a stop in this fight at one minute twenty two seconds in the very first round, for your winner by knockout, AND NEW Union Grand Prix Cruiserweight Champion, ”.44” Daniel Fisk!

[The crowd cheers once again as Fisk has his hand raised in victory and the title wrapped around his waist. Both fighters shake hands and give each other a hug as a gesture of mutual respect. What looks to be the entire Real Killsd gym pour into the octagon and celebrate an overall exciting night of fights. A graphic pops up on screen, breaking down the statistics of the fight as the commentators recap.]
