BOSS FIGHT #1 PREVIEW

ree

LONG BEACH — After two successful events, Union GP looks to head out west for the very first Boss Fight event. The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California looks primed to showcase several UGP fighters striving to climb the ranks. The night has five scheduled bouts that’s features two Light Heavyweight Round Robin fights.

The show airs live only on the Battleground Network at 10:00 PM EST on Saturday October 6.

EDAN MCLEOD (0-0) vs SANG-HYUNDAI LEE (0-0)

The opening bout of Boss Fight #1 featured two newcomers to UGP. McLeod is an elite striker with his hands and can work in submissions with the best of them. However he doesn’t utilize his kicks enough, leaving him one dimensional at times. He’s a risk taker too, which can leave him open to some dangerous spots. Lee is known as “The Technical Wizard” which is evident by his grappling and submission work. However his striking game is virtually nonexistent, which can be very troublesome for guys he can’t get down to the mat. His inexperience to the sport leaves a lot of question marks to what his potential can be.

HAILEY MCINTYRE (0-1) vs AMEDEA RAO (0-0)

The first of two Cruiserweight fights is a very interesting one. Hailey McIntyre is coming off a tough loss to Hanako Takeuchi, which she’s surely learned from it. She should be more focused and work to develop her ground, which is where she excels at. Rao is a newcomer to UGP looking to make her mark with her wrestling and Muy Thai. Both are pretty well-rounded competitors sonthis will be fun to watch.

KIRA IZUMI (0-2) vs AERON ROBERTS (0-2)

The first Light Heavyweight Round Robin fight of the evening has The Prince of Darkness and The Demon Queen searching for their first win. Both are submission specialists and their stand up game is suspect, so it’s safe to say this one will be a technical battle. Both look evenly matched on paper, which adds to the speculation that this one could gonthe distance. It’s do or die time for these fighters, so you can expect them to leave it all in the octagon.

SIMON BISHOP (1-0) vs JEREMIAH FORD (1-0)

The Headliner for the night features the second Light Heavyweight Round Robin fight between Bishop and Ford. Both of these guys have taken their “byes”, so it’s go time from here on out. Bishop showed a great ground game against Izumi at UGP #1, and he’ll look to build off of that. Ford showed great heart and resiliency against Roberts at UGP #2, beating her at her own game in a unanimous decision victory. This fight looks like there will be a boatload of offense from both fighters, and has the potential to be the Fight of the Night.

KAELAN LAUGHLIN (0-1) vs XABIER BELAZCO (0-1)

Our main event for the night features two Cruiserweights who went to war at UGP #1, but unfortunately came up short and were eliminated from the tournament. A win here would keep either fighter in the contention talks based on the spectacular performances they displayed already. Laughlin and Belazco both showed they can take a ton of punishment and still press on. This one will surely have the social media world buzzing.
