Linked - Feat Rob Jones

[REC]

The camera flicks on to UGP Reporter and commentator Toussaint Harper live in his headquarters office with his phone face down with the speaker loud and clear. The office has an old school feel with the perfect window view behind him. He gives a nod to the camera acknowledging it's obvious presence before clearing his throat grabbing his notepad beside him on his desk and smiling.

Toussaint Harper: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the first of what will be a line of interviews I hope to cover with the UGP fans and fighters. As you know I already have a printed column featuring certain champions of Union GP called The Grand. In those, I'm coming to them speaking to them face to face. This is 'Linked’ a chance for me to link up with our vast roster of UGP fighters and for you all to get to know them. I’ll take the time available to get more info about the people behind the padded gloves and cage. The concept of linked…

Toussaint points toward his cell phone.

Toussaint Harper: Obvious right? In our electronics age, I’ll go from general phone calls to over the facetime. Skype. Whatever. So you'll catch me speaking to as many of the UGP fighters as I can. Today we have our first. A new UGP signee who has already made quite a few waves. The self-proclaimed King of the Lightweights, Rob Jones, already in Japan ready to go. Can you hear me good Rob?

CURRENTLY LINKED ---- UGP LIGHTWEIGHT FIGHTER ROB JONES

Rob Jones: Yeah, I hear you, thanks for granting me the interview. It should be enjoyable.

Toussaint Harper: Ok ok. Let's not waste the fans time and get right into it. You've just signed on to Union GP and before your debut fight against Warren Leibowitz at Boss Fight 8 you've managed to annoy just about every lightweight on the roster with your claims on social media. Why?

Rob Jones: Those pussies have nothing compared to me. I know it, I don’t need to beat a bunch of jabroni’s to prove it. They’re just scared is all. See, I noticed, Xabier Belazco didn’t have a match scheduled. I was going to do him a favor, get him on a card, let him put his name next to mine. He told me on Twitter that he accepted it, but when it came down to it, no.

So, I’ve never been one to mince words. I said something to him about it, lo and behold his team all come out of the woodwork ‘you don’t deserve this’ motherfucker already accepted the fight! So, now Byron McCall, the PR dude for Real Killaz, and the Momo’a siblings got there panties in a knot.

So, fuck them. I did Zion Momo’a a favor, and plan to make his ass famous April 27th in New York for Sha Bishop’s charity show.

Toussaint Harper: Do you have any personal animosity towards Real Killas MMA?

Rob Jones: No, it’s not personal, it’s business. They’re the ones making things personal because I called Xabier out on not fighting me after he ‘verbally’ agreed to. Other than that I have no problems whatsoever with them, but I never backed down from altercations whether physical or verbal in my life, and I ain’t planning on starting that now. So, if they keep cool, I have no issue, if they talk shit, I’m all up on that too.

Toussaint Harper: How do you feel about your upcoming fight against Warren?

Rob Jones: Warren’s a man I’ve never heard of. I search for him on social media and he ain’t there. So, in five days time I’m going to step in that cage with dude, calling himself ‘wolfman, won’t have no emotional involvement, and make a statement not only to the lightweight division but to the entirety of Real Killas MMA.

Harper lets out a chuckle before he continues.

Toussaint Harper: I'll move on then. Give a little more to the fans about who Rob Jones is before introducing yourself in the cage. What's your background?

Rob Jones: There’s not much to tell. I was born and raised on Staten Island...um I lost my Mother when I was ten, and she was a single parent so...you know how that goes. Lucky for me, just down the block was a local boxing gym T.W Boxing. I walked in when I was fourteen, met Tommy Ward Jr. He’s signed as a Heavyweight, he’ll be in Japan this weekend.

I trained alongside he and his Dad since...we lost him that past July. Tommy Jr. said it was to painful to keep the gym open, so now we’re both trainings at Slaughterhouse New York….

Toussaint Harper: News at the top. Rob Jones active at Slaughterhouse New York. Getting the recent news in the allotted time. I know you have many media runs to tend to Rob so thank you for your time and good luck against Warren Leibowitz. I’m looking forward to your Union GP debut.

Harper looks toward the camera while turning his cell phone around from the speaker side. He hangs up shortly after businesslike dismissal.

Toussaint Harper: This has been Linked. I’ll be looking to reaching out to those on the roster. If you have the time, drop me a line. Lets link up. Fight game or die.

The camera cuts out with a nod from Harper.
