Picks and Hits #4 - UGP 6

We won't have rankings posted until after the supershows. Warhead and I being the only reputable media left to give rational reasoning for lineups. Look for it post UGP 6. For now, the Picks for UGP 6.

ree

HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT #2 Shotgun Koa (1-3) VS Fabio Pacitti (0-0) Why? Ok Ok, I know. The rule tends to be that intros go well but after the last Boss Fight, I’m realizing these newbies are coming with fire. Then with the Heavyweights, everything is possible. And it’s all everything all in one round. We are used to the hammers swinging and bodies dropping. The debuts of Amani Crawford and Brock Quarry opens up the mind of the ground game. The Champion Derrick La’Bell is known for his Hellbows. Fabio Pacitti I believe will be a new tide in this division. His name is ground game and although Koa could catch him on the feet. This will be a new example of the debuting fighter showing up and showing out.

LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT #7 Xabier Belazco (1-2) VS Rovzan Ahkmadov (0-0) Why? I can’t continue on good faith thinking this will be the theme of the night. Xabier Belazco will want to keep this standing of good knowledge alone of Rovzan Ahkmadov’s ground skill. I believe he will be the introduction Rovzan needs to sharpen her knife and overall talent in the professional sphere. That said Sambo aint no joke. I’ll give Xabier the nod here. More than likely in a TKO fashion on the feet stopping the fight.

MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT #5 Aries Reed (1-0) VS #8 Adegoke Muller (0-1) Why? This choice is honestly based off of the showings of both. Adegoke Muller didn’t really ever get a hold of things with the exceptional striker in Robert Guilliman. Aries Reed...made his hands look very dangerous against Aeron Roberts. I’m trying to do the math from that and although Muller did look underwhelming I do think he will give Aries Reed a better fight than Roberts did. It just won’t be enough overall.

HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT #1 Donnie Calabrese (1-3) VS #3 Bobbi London (1-0)

Why? Love Donnie C but every time I vote for him he loses. When I don’t pick him he wins. You can’t ever count out Dogface and as one of the fan favs, I see the lone woman in the Heavyweight division making her name grow in MMA. What she did to Damiko Conrad shows the hands are real. My mind says she could honestly pull this off but my heart wants Donnie to keep that #1 next to his name and see La'Bell.

CRUISERWEIGHT BOUT #3 Viktor Volkov (2-1) VS #5 Seth Daniels (2-1) Why? Volkov coming in hot. You can see the change in him from that shocking first loss to Nathan Lucas. Since then you’ve seen him be vocal about wanting in the cage and wanting to fight. Wanting to prove his status and rise. Here’s the moment to do so with a Seth Daniels who I do believe will be a shell of himself after giving his all in his Cruiserweight Finals fight. Striker vs Striker is always good ones and I’m seeing the laser-focused Volkov winning it out more than likely in a crazy counterstrike form.

LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT #2 Kaelan Laughlin (3-1) VS #6 Takeshi Kato (1-0)

Why? I’ve always been one to believe that the scheduling doesn’t matter. As adults, we all know or will learn in time how much we can take before we break. I won’t comment on the subjects involved in Kaelan’s life personally I just think there’s no way one human can have the things happening in front of them like she is currently going through and be able to battle a JJJ artist like Takeshi Kato. That said, Kato didn’t really show much of that skill in his first bout making this one of the main fights to watch on the undercard. I see an upset and I only think so because Kaelan’s backpack is just way too heavy to prepare for such a task as Kato.

CO-MAIN EVENT CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP © Daniel Fisk (3-0) VS #1 Roscoe Robinson (3-1)

Why? I believe we will see our first Cruiserweight Division DRAW. Fisk for all his tools, skills, and knowledge might not be an indestructible as he thinks he is. A great run in the tournament obviously as the winner but Roscoe Robinson isn’t the same fighter he was a Seth Daniels loss ago. The biggest proof of that being the dominance over Nathan Lucas. Now on Daniel’s end, one thing he’s always had is control. He controls his pace and his fights extremely smart but while Robinson has dealt with quality time in that cage going multiple rounds, Fisk has been an early fight ender in each of his. Here might where were that comes back to bite. Not to say Fisk doesn’t have experience but this particular experience might go against him. Not to the point of losing he’ll up the ante and this “Killa Party” will be everything as advertised...to a draw. I could say I didn’t want to pick between the two but honestly, I believe they will beat each other to death to the point no winner can even be named.

MAIN EVENT MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP © Cristian Bonanno (5-0) VS #1 Edan McLeod (4-0)

Why? McLeod has had a magnificent run. To the grinder as they say. McLeod is an extraordinary talent. EXTRAORDINARY...but Bonanno is an EXTRA-EXTRAORDINARY talent. McLeod can fight...to a decision win. The ability to not finish Guilliman gives me heavy caution to sit here and say he can take on the best fighter in the Middleweight division. The Middleweight Champion that has ended each and every person he’s come across in dominating fashion. This will be a battle. I have no doubts on that but I do not see it being a battle that McLeod can win. The instinct and mindset would have to be a level above. Can McLeod do it? Sure he has the skill but skill and will clash every time that cage closes. Bonanno in maybe the championship rounds.
