Through eight events spanning from September through November, Union Grand Prix has quickly rose from the ground and flourished as one of the leading combat promotions running right now. The company and the fans have seen many step inside the octagon and put on a show time and time again, while many more wait in the wings for their opportunity. We’ve crowned champions and already witnessed a successful defense while in the same night see a new king crowned.
One of those champions has demolished his competition, and is currently waiting patiently for his first challenger as Champion. The man we speak of is Cristian “Uccisore” Bonanno. The Throne MMA warrior has left spectators speechless throughout his 5-0 tear and we wanted to ensure he wasn’t going anywhere and thankfully it didn’t take long. After UGP 5, I was able to sit down with Bonanno and hash out a new deal. We agreed to a Tier 3 deal, which locks him in to a 7-9 fight contract.
On a related note, Jeremiah Ford also fought out his initial contract and we were able to secure a Tier 2 deal that will keep him aboard for another 4-6 fights. There have been some rumors circulating that Ford May make a jump back down to 155, where he initially planned to compete when he first signed on.
With the good, comes the bad. As of this writing, Aeron Roberts completed her initial 6 fight contract after her loss to Aries Reed at UGP 5, and is officially a free agent. If any news develops with Roberts, we’ll be sure to keep you in on the latest.
Also of note, Annie Zellor, Lux Forte, Ferdinand Diao, and Danica McDaniel have requested and granted their releases. No word has come from either side on this matter. In Danica’s absence, Union Battleground’s very own Savannah Skye will step in as our cageside reporter until the proper hiring process for potentially two reporters have been completed.
And to cap off this update of the financial side of the business, here is a list of competitors who are closing in on the end of their contracts.
