Unless you have been living under a rock these last couple of weeks, you may have seen the new deal Real Killas MMA Owner and former Union GP Cruiserweight Champion Daniel Fisk signed. A new 7 fight, $750k nonexclusive deal with a $100k signing bonus shook the media and brought in a new strategy of how contracts are wrote up. Along with that deal was former Union GP Lightweight Champion Jordan Parker-Kane signing a pay-per-appearance deal, which will allow him to dictate his bookings in UGP and his other ventures.
This past weekend, I sat down with a few fighters to restructure deals, most notably fellow Real Killas Byron McCall and Roscoe Robinson. McCall's new deal is a 4 fight, $500k nonexclusive deal, which will make the former 2x CGFC Champion one of the highest paid fighters.
However, the biggest deal to come has The Shooter's name written at the bottom of the contract. The current Union GP Cruiserweight Champion agreed to a new deal which comes to an 8 fight $1M deal! Some incentives were included such as a 3% cut in PPV revenue in fights which he main events, and others that are not disclosed at this time. The main reason Roscoe becomes the first million dollar fighter in Union Grand Prix is because he signed an exclusive deal. However, a revision was made to allow Roscoe the opportunity to still pursue his fight against former CGFC Dragon Champion Jason Jackson at some point this year.
I have been working diligently to sign new deals with recent free agents Seth Daniels and Kenzi Grey, although no confirmation has been made one way or another on either side. Rumors have been swirling about fighters nearing the end of their current deals, like Champions Brock Quarry and Robert Guilliman, among other likes Xabier Belazco and Hanako Takeuchi, but again, nothing is finalized. I can also announce that I have re-signed a former Champion who will be making his return to the octagon, however, that's as far as I'll go for now.
With news of renewed deals as one of the hot topics currently going, we now switch gears to talk about the ongoing recruiting and signing of new fighters. I've been working around the clock to continue to grow this company and the competition, and I can proudly say that Union Grand Prix now has 71 contracted fighters! Here is a list of the newest fighters that will be making their Union debuts within the coming weeks:
Heavyweights: Tommy Ward, Calvin Webb, Lester Only, Sam Walker
Cruiserweights: Scotty Gordy
Middleweights: Clive Hicks, Reggie Martin
Lightweights: Austin Pope, Roisin O'Connell
